Well, that's correct. However, the idea is to get the picture square so it won't distort. So, if you want the photo to display larger when you go to the profile page, you could resize to 100 x 100 or 200 x 200 and it would still display correctly at the small size that appears with your email messages.

Point taken. I actually just did what you described. But I put it back the way I had it. The original crop of the pic has to be square before you go to square off the pixels. And depending on your resolution the pixels per inch will differ also. My original crop of the picture resulted in a pic that is slightly longer than wide. I don't want to re-crop it to square it because I like it the way it is. It's current form when squared off in pixels gets stretched in the larger Avatar image and that's the one that matters more to me because these little ones next to the posts are so small I imagine most people are clicking on your profile anyway to see the larger pic.
So the gist of it is I guess I'm to lazy to recrop the original to a square shot. LOL!
