I have not had P&B w/hot dogs since I was a kid. Do you guys still eat this combination? These have the brown sugar in them, tasty too, but once I cut up my hot dogs a cook all together I can’t taste the brown sugar anymore x( Does this particular bean give you energy? I wanted something that’d possible keep me full for a few hours.

uhhh what?

you put hot dogs on your PB & J? You win an award for a really strange combo ;)

I have no idea what kind of bean you are referring to, but I'd imagine it is not a good source of energy.

I haven't had beanie weenies since I was a kid! I should make this for my kids sometime so they don't miss out! :p

I can't remember, is it a pinto bean or white great northern? All beans have some carbs/fiber and protein, so it will give you some energy.

Debbie, I am with with you. I thought she put a hot dog with brown sugar on her peanut butter sandwich! This is typically how I interpert things. Usually to everyone else's enjoyment. Melissa

Former country gal here, who remembers beanie weanies well. Now I don't eat pork, beef, or poultry, but I have taken vegetarian baked beans and added cut-up Morning Star Farm hot dogs when I've craved this old favorite.

As for it being a gassy meal, hey, beans are a main staple of my diet, and I just don't have that problem.

Beany Weenies rock!! :)

Actually, other than alot of sodium, they aren't too bad for you... Believe it or not, the canned kind are fairly low in fat.

And if you cut up some of those Ball Park White Turkey Franks and put those in the beans, you actually have a pretty high protein meal with not alot of calories. ( I love those White Turkey franks, they are really good!!)

If you are missing the brown sugar flavor you could try adding some of that Splenda Brown Sugar that is out now. You might want to only add a little, and cook the beans for a while. Not sure if the splenda sugar will "reduce" to give you that nice caramelly flavor that regular brown sugar would.

Take care, Lynn M.

Debbie, Thanks for the laugh! I am laughing with you not at you. :)

To the original poster UHM no I don't eat hot dogs or pork and beans.
