poopy diapers

Without fail, EVERY time I workout, not when I'm just starting, not when I'm cooling down, but JUST as I break a sweat my 13-month old son has a poopy diaper. His timing is, it seems, on purpose. I'm telling you if I didn't work out for several days straight, the child would stay constipated just till I start my next sweat. }( Don't know why I had to post that except today in Boot Camp right at the end of the first cardio (jacks) set, well ... you know. UGH!

That's funny.

I can relate in a way. Someone always interrupts me during my workout. Could it be the fact that my house is small and I have six kids???

HaHa Cathes music makes the baby poop!!

When my three were little, they NEVER EVER pooped at home. ALWAYS when we were shopping, or out visiting. And beleive me, those smelly diapers could clear a room fast!!

Shirley.........where do you HIDE sweetie? The bathroom used to be my santuary when I needed time out.

Idea....put your workout on about 30 minutes before you are ready to actually do it. Maybe your baby will be kind enough to take the hint and have his poop! :)

You know, they teach racehorses to pee when the handler whistles, to test for drugs. Maybe you have inadvertently taught him to poop when he hears Cathe music.

If he's that clever, I'm sure he could learn to poop when you whistle - LOL!

Yeah, I know, I'm a smartass.

Yup - I can relate. My daughter has been out of diapers for a year and a half, but always seems to need me to accompany her to the bathroom to go poopy when I'm in the middle of a workout. If she does go by herself, I'll invariably hear a yell from upstairs, "MOMMY! I NEED YOU TO WIPE MY BUTT!!!!"

If it's not the bathroom, it's getting her some milk. The fact that I workout immediately after we get home from work and preschool probably has a lot to do with it.

Shirley - 6 kids?!? YOWZA, girl! No wonder your husband is being all bratty about you wanting to take care of yourself. He's so used to you taking care of everyone else.

Shirley...I have six kids...so here's what ya do.

Pay the oldest to change the diaper. (we homeschool so my oldest happens to be home - this may not work if he/she is gone). My kids know by now not to have any crisis while I'm working out and it may just take time for yours to adjust to it. I personally would take the "you did it, so you sit in it till I'm done approach" (am I a good mom or what). Keep us posted!!

I don't have any kids, so perhaps that's why this post is making me laugh. I wish I could help. Can you time your workout for nap time? Do babies poop in their sleep? Good luck!

LOL!!!!!!!!

Aila:)

You know this is funny for me because over the years of doing daycare it seemed like children always had bad timing. I don't know how old your child is but it may be related to when he had a bottle or ate. I would never leave him in the diaper because I could just see the red posterior when I went to change it later and then would feel very guilty. Also if you have an older child that can change the diaper that is an option. Although I my youngest daughter a dollar to change one once and she declined.

You guys are awesome. Thanks for the brilliant comments and great suggestions. No it's not that he's regular, I do think it has something to do with the music though - so I really like the suggestion about putting the workout on 1/2 hour before I'm ready. He's got a 3 year old sibling at home and I don't know if she wouldn't be willing to change him or if I wouldn't be willing to have her do so. She's quite helpful however when during the workout she politely comes and stands in front of me and says "Excuse me mom - stinky!" At least now I'll chuckle the next time I hit pause to go change my monster. Thank you! :)

I nursed my daughter for 12 months and the boy for 16 months, with nursing breaks, poopy diapers, sippy cups, etc., sometimes it took me 3 hours to get a workout in. My motto was "if it takes me all day and it is the only thing (aside for caring for the babies) I accomplish all day, it will be my workout!" By the time my youngest was six months old I was wearing a size 0/1 (smaller than pre pregnancy weight).

Now, it's all sippy cups, diapers, cereal spills and fighting over the stuffed bear! I feel for you! I must applaude you as well because most moms just make the excuse "my baby won't let me workout". You can do both, just train the kids to make your worlout part of everyones routine! My kids don't know a day when mommy didn't work out, unless it is a rest day!

I too can relate , I've been a stay at home mom now with my last one for 3.5 years and Ive been doing a in home day care so I can stay home ,til preschool ,,,almost there . Anyhow I get up before anyone and do my workout then .I dont like any interuptions ... Well I also sometimes do a workout in the afternoons too . Like during nap time . I use to wait til they were all asleep . Well then it wouldnt be long enough cuz of the order they fell asleep . So now I get the littler ones in their playpens with thier sippy cups. Then The bigger ones on the sofa , And I tell them They "Get to watch " me do workout ,and dont even have to take a nap .... Well 10 minutes into workout they fall asleep as its boring to watch me ...I started working out 1 year ago yesturday !!!! So its all about training those kids LOL , They ask me why I workout . I tell them so I have a strong heart and I can play more ... They just smile . Too cute really . Hugs to you . Put your little one in Highchair with a treat while you workout ,maybe that would help !!!! . Good luck .

This could be true about the timing of the music to the diapers. LOL!

I hide in my bathroom if I want quiet time. There is a separate door to the toilet stall inside the bathroom so I have to shut and lock both doors. As for working out, if I can't get it in in the day I'll do it late at night. (My kids homeschool and are here all day.) I don't care how late it is when I work out. BUT I don't like DH to see me working out. He always has some kind of sarcastic comment.

Have a great day!
Shirley

This is funny!!!

And, sooo true!! My son who is 3, is the exact same way!!! And, its always right at the peak of an interval in an Imax workout, or some other Cathe workout that you really don't want to lose your heartrate!!

Sam, my little guy, is almost "housebroke" so, it hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel !! :)
