Plyo Max

Hey all! I got this idea from another thread..somewhere posted on Cathe's site. What about a new DVD called Plyo Max. As the name refers, this workout would be an all-out plyometrics workout. Cathe has some AWESOME moves and it would be really neat if she could put them into one single workout. Plyos really get the heart rate up, burn major calories, are challenging, but the best part is...they are super fun! ") What do you all think?? Get back to me...

I was thinking the same thing as well. It's a great idea. Plyos are really tough and it would be a great, challenging workout.

I agree. I LOVE plyos...I have put together some of my own workouts using Cathe's plyo sections. Here is an example. A little crazy, so be warned...

part one: KPC intermediate drills (1x)
KPC high intensity drills (2x)

part two: KM blast challenge (2x)

part three: bootcamp cardio only premix (2x)

part 4: back to KPC kicking/punching combos

part 5: 6 sets of explosive squats from Legs and Glutes

What a workout!! Be warned...legs are sore for the rest of the day.

While I'm not sure that a long plyos-only workout is even a good idea, training-wise, I would love to see a combo weight/plyo workout. Something where plyos are interspersed with weight work to really work the muscle fibers to the max. For example: one set of barbell/dumbell squats, followed immediately with a set of jump squats, then 30-seconds to 1 minute of recovery using light cardio moves with large ROM.

I'd like to see something like this as well.

A plyo/lower body workout would be great. It would require very little space and equipment.

Warm up
Plyo jacks
Barbell squats
Plyo heel digs
Barbell lunges
Airborn jumps
Plie squats
Tuck jumps
Static lunges
Air jacks
Dead lifts
Etc

Finish with abs and a stretch.

There could be a bonus segment of heavy upper body stuff like barbell bench presses, barbell curls, barbell skull crushers, etc.

Then, there could be a boot camp premix incorporating the bonus upper body footage and splitting up the abs section.

And of course - an all plyo premix! Woo hoo!!!!!

Kris,

I am new to fitness dvds. How do you put together your own workouts that span dvds? Do you put all them in your player and then take little breaks while you cue up the next one in your set? Or is there some feature about my relatively new dvd player that makes it easier to cue them up?

It sounds like a fun work out!

Some people have multi-disc players that hold 3 or 5 DVD's (someone even has one that holds something like 40? DVD's!).

I use my brother's 360 Xbox. All I do is line the DVDs up on top of the TV. After I finish with one DVD, say KPC, I put in the second DVD while running in place. He has a controller that allows me to go directly to the point I want, say KM blast challenge, almost immediately. There is only a few seconds of lags time. As I said, I run in place so my heart rate doesn't drop too much. I have only been doing Cathe's workouts since a little before Thanksgiving. Since that time I have gotten quite creative. I love mixing and matching workouts--so much fun!! The only thing I have to be careful about is getting too crazy :) Last week after doing this workout my legs were sore, but my left foot really hurt. I have to watch doing so much high intensity stuff.
