Oh Susan, I'm sooo sorry! I posted in reponse to the original thread below. I didn't even look for an update first. Sorry!

Send his family my sympthy.:-(

OMG .. so sorry Suz .. will continue to keep the family in our prayers.

I almost lost my Dad in a horrible wreck .. they said he would not make it .. after 2 brain surgeries .. and 2 month coma he defied the odds ... but did suffer brain damage .. we were blessed .. he lived for 10 years more than they gave him .. but unfortunately lost his battle 3 1/2 years ago (complications from the wreck) ..

.. but no more suffering .. and I know as hard as loosing someone especially in a tragic way .. they are always with us in our hearts and souls .. and I feel him continuously looking over us!!

Be strong! and know you and the family have lots of prayers for comfort going up for them!!

I am so sorry for your loss. I was praying that he made it through. My prayers will continue for his family so they may have stregth to get through this awful time;(

Poochy - I'm so sorry about your Dad. {{{{{Hugs}}}}}

Garilee - I thought I posted back to you, but it disappeared. It's probably in the wrong thread somewhere. Basically I just said that as spouses of police officers we don't (or at least I don't) think of the danger of them driving around all day long and increasing their odds for an accident. I worry more about the domestic violence calls (since they both so frequently seem to turn on the police when they arrive), calls with guns involved, SWAT calls, etc. But this is the second really bad accident in the last few years involving an on-duty officer NOT in a chase. You just never know and we should all be sure that our loved ones always know we love them.

Oh Suz....I am so sorry....:(...my continued prayers for your family and his fiancee and kids...what a very tragic loss.

I just found out about the funeral. It's going to be an awesome way to honor him. They will have a procession from the police department to the civic center, which is where the service will be. The sheriff's department is taking all of the police department's calls for that day so that all police officers can attend the service. The fire department is doing the reception. How cool is that? The procession will be all of the police officers in the front followed by the city council and then the families of the officers and the community. I'm sure his family will be somewhere between the police and the city council maybe. They will have the streets lined with police cars. I just think it's amazing how these guys are honored. So many people are cop-haters so it's nice to see everyone come together. I'm already getting teary thinking about it.

Thanks again for all of your prayers and support. His family really needs a lot of prayer. Losing both parents in under a year, so young, must just be devastating.
