Please help me with my goals

Hi! I've posted here before, but went on vacation and got distracted. I have not gained any more weight, but have gained fat. SO, I'm on a 6 week goal now. My anniversary is in 6 weeks, so I would like to use this time to set realistic goals for myself.

I am thinking of maybe dropping 10 pounds and losing a pant size? Is that realistic? I currently am 5'2, 170lbs, and a size 16...OUCH!

So, in all of your wonderful expertise, please advise me on a good, achievable goal, and a good plan to do it (ie. cardio X amt of days VS wts X amt of days)

Thank you so much!
Jessica

Hi Jessica,

I suggest you jump over to the Rotations forum and peruse the many rotations there until you find one that jumps out at you. I'm starting an endurance/fatloss rotation that Fitnessfreak put together. I'll post here for you. Good Luck!!

I finally had time to do up an endurance rotation. This rotation has some very high impact cardio workouts in it, so listen to your body. I think it will be a fun one. I've included some premixed workouts as well. Also, I encourage you to do some yoga workouts in the evenings or when you have a spare 1/2 hour to 1 hour. It really helps us keep our muscles flexible and decreases our chances of injury. Here is the rotation:

WEEK 1:
Day 1: Low Max (70 min.)
Day 2: Power Hour (55 min.)
Day 3: IMAX 3 (60 min.)
Day 4: Step, Jump & Pump Step & Weights premix (46 min.); Coremax #3 (20 min.)
Day 5: Kickmax - Low Impact Kickbox premix (58 min.)
Day 6: Legs & Glutes Extreme premix (67 min.)
Day 7: Rest

WEEK 2:
Day 1: Step Blast (55 min.); one ab workout from Ab Hits (7-10 min.)
Day 2: Muscle Endurance (65 min.)
Day 3: Step Fit (71 min.)
Day 4: IMAX Xtreme (70 min.)
Day 5: Kick, Punch & Crunch (68 min.)
Day 6: Super Sets Lower Body Blast (33 min.); Stability Ball Work from Pyramid Lower Body (approx. 15 min.); CoreMax #2 (20 min.)
Day 7: Rest

WEEK 3:
Day 1: Rhythmic Step (60 min.); one ab workout from Ab Hits (7-10 min.)
Day 2: Muscle Max (72 min.)
Day 3: IMAX 2 (55 min.)
Day 4: High Step Challenge (68 min.)
Day 5: Cardio Kicks (60 min.); Step, Jump & Pump abs (7 min.
Day 6: Pyramid Lower Body Up Only premix (40 min.); Bootcamp Lower Body Only premix (10 min.); Stretch Max #2
Day 7: Rest

WEEK 4:
Day 1: Power Max (64 min.)
Day 2: Maximum Intensity Strength (74 min.)
Day 3: Step Blast Combo 2, 3 & Challenge premix (45 min.); Coremax #1 (20 min.)
Day 4: Viper (80 min.)
Day 5: Kickmax Kickbox/Bootcamp Challenge premix (50 min.); Bootcamp core only premix (10 min.)
Day 6: Low Max 1-4 premix (45 min.); Muscle Max Lower Body only premix (23 min.)
Day 7: Rest

Enjoy!

Many folks here have talked recently about whether more weights vs. more cardio is most effective for weight loss. After trying both, I've confirmed that my body does need more cardio in order to burn fat. Though everybody's different, I think that is probably true for most people who needs to lose, say, 20 lbs. or more (which I do). With that in mind, I'd go for cardio 4-5x a week and maybe circuit weights/endurance 2x a week. Good luck!!

I think losing 10 lbs in 6 weeks is realistic. I started following WW's 4 weeks after having my baby and I lost 12.5 lbs in 6 weeks, with 6.5 lbs left to go_Of course, I would like to lose another 5 lbs after I reach my pre preg weight.
I started at 148 lbs @ 5'4" so I am sure you could lose 10 lbs b/c you are heavy then I was when I began, although pregnancy weight may be a different kind of weight to lose then just normal weight AND it may be easier to lose...i don't know...Im just saying:) :)

The rotation above looks really good, I think I may follow it as well. Does anyone want to check in or PM each other daily? Like I said, I only have 6 lbs to go but I need to get really strict now and cut out eating after dinner and cut back even more on sweets b/c the last 5 lbs are probably going to be the hardest to lose.My body also needs more cardio so if I have the time, I may add a run in on the weight days.

Lori:)

Lori, i can't follow the rotation as written because I don't have all the DVD's, but I can check in with ya. I am going to wake up at 5 or 6 to get a workout in. 2 Kids make it so hard. My 4 month old is too spoiled for me to do it when she is awake!!

If you want to check in, or do a rotation together, let me know. I can give you a list of the workouts i have, and we can go from there...I do ahve a lot:)

10 lbs. in 6 weeks is definitely realistic, as long as you are dedicated. 2 lbs. a week is the standard recommended weight loss. Just make sure your diet is considered, besides your exercise routine.

Wow Debbie,

This rotation looks good. I don't have all of the videos either but I could make good subs with what I do have. I usually get 4 days in a week, trying to work up to 5 and would love to do 6. If I had to omit workouts for rest days what do you think I should leave out? A weight workout or a cardio workout? Personally I would leave out weights, but that not be the correct answer.

Jess- I also am looking to loose weight. My stats are similiar to yours. Same height, same weight range but I'm a size 12. I would do a check in with you if you want a partner.

Lori- I would love to join you in a check in but I too would have to sub dvds.

Here is a list that I have: LIC, BodyMax2, Butts&Gutts, DrillMax, CArdio Kicks and CircuitMax, Hardcore Xtreme, The Terminator, Boot Camp and Muscle Endurance, Power Hour, RHythmic Step, Cardio Fusion, these are my Cathe's.

Amy Bento's Hi/lo and Kickbox Xtreme and Tracey STaheles High Intensity Step Mix and I am waiting for the 3 Sweatfest dvds to arrive.

Jenn;-)
