Hi all,

I've decided to get a strength DVD from Cathe and I need some suggestions. I have MIS, PH and Muscle Endurance and I need to get another one to add to my Cathe's DVD collection.

I don't want another strength workout that's similar to what I've already got. What I need is a killer workout with a variety of innovative exercises that target the upper body/lower body thoroughly and from various angles (eg. not consisting of merely squats, lunges and plies for legs), plus it must be fun to do as well.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

In my opinion the absolute killer is the Slow and Heavy series. But if you really want leg variety you should invest in Legs and Glutes. You might also consider Push Pull/Supersets as many of these exercises have a different flavor with use of the stability ball and I also love the Pyramids but PLB is more what you say you don't want to do (squats, lunges, etc.)! Let's face it you really can't go wrong with any of them! :) :)

Since you didn't say how much you wanted to spend, I suggest you get all 4 DVD's!

Oh no, Jo ... don't make a suggestion that I should get all of them, . Hahahaha, I am soooo tempted to do that :). But thanks for your suggestion anyway.

Hi!

I think you would enjoy the pyramids. PLB is traditional exercises at the beginning, but the floor work with the stability ball is great at the end and adds variety. PUB is awesome too, and you will love those pikes at the end of this workout!

Have a great day!!

Hello,

I think Slow and Heavy is very different and will build muscle. However, I hardly use my S&H because I find it too slow sometimes. I prefer to use Pyramid, Pure Strength myself.

To get the variety of work and exercises you want, you will have to get several DVD's, no question. As previous poster said, try legs & Glutes for tremendous variety of exercises for lower body. For upper, it needs to be a combo of PUB and Supersets. Both of these will offer you a great variety of ways to work the upper body that is much more interesting than the old staid MIS.

However, since all the weights workouts you already have are pure endurance based, you really should be getting the Slow & Heavy series to contrast with the type of training you normally do.

Definitely PUB/PLB hands down. The DVD has both workouts separately, and then there is a great Bonus section that is a combo of both! I haven't even gotten into the chapters yet!
I love this one, the best bang for the buck for sure!

I would probably also recommend the Pyramids, even though S/H is the most different from what you have. It is very effective, but it eats a lot of time, and the leg workout is not full of much variety. I think SS/PP is a waste of money, way too easy and difficult to "ramp up". Pure Strength is also very good, very effective. Jeesh, it is hard to choose just one! You can't go wrong with the Pyramids or S/H if you don't mind the amount of time it takes. It's so worth it!
