Please clarify if Fit Tower fits a Barbell

On another thread, it was pointed out that the new Fit Tower is approx. 4" wider (36") than the previous Fit Tower (32"). SNM noted a barbell WILL fit on the new Fit Tower.

However, I see the new Fit Tower's width is 36". I am not seeing how this will fit my barbells. The maximum range my barbells have is about a 32" width and they are both standard barbells.

I can't find a picture of the new Fit Tower with the barbell catches or showing a barbell on the new tower. Are the catches indented to fit a 32" ranged barbell?

Please clarify how a barbell will fit.

Thanks!

The information you're referring to is incorrect. The Fit Tower is not 4 inches wider. It's approximately the same width as the previous Tower.

OK, thank you for the clarification. You probably know by now, but FitTower.com lists:

Assembled size 36.2”L x 36.2”W x 53.7”H, 30.3 lbs

Off to order....!

I have the old tower. My olympic Barbell (45 lb without the weight plates ) does not fit on the tower. I have a smaller cap BB (it only weights 7 lb without the weight plates.) fits on the tower. The barbell catches on the old tower are to narrow and will not hold your Olympic Barbell. I ended up getting a sturdier barbell rack/bench combo. Which I absolutely love :)

My old tower is definitely 32" across, Isn't that what yours is, Bayerngirl? This must mean that the measurements given by FitTower of 36"
across is incorrect.

I guess?I am sure they are all the same, lol :) The old and new FitTower looks the same to me.

Well, just to make sure the info I gave on my old tower is correct, I just
Measured it again, actually twice, and it is 32 in side to side, and the bottom
Base is 36 in front to back...that is all I know, and Fit Tower is giving
Measurements of 36.2 x 36.2

I think they made a mistake on the measurement? I am not ordering the new tower, I don't use my old one :( Except for a yoga mat
holder :p When I lift heavy I use my Gold Gym Barbell rack/bench. Best investment I ever made :)

So just to be sure I am clear, we can use a barbell with this tower like the old one?

Also if for some reason we need to sent back, will we have to pay for the shipping back?

I ask because I purchased some shoes once with free shipping but they neglected to say that you had to pay the shipping back if it doesn't work out. I ended up keeping them b/c it would have cost more to send them back than what I paid for them.

This is something alot bigger than shoes and this is not being sold through Cathe so I just want to make sure of these things.

Thank you for your time :)

Hi EbonyNicole,

Per the Fit Tower FAQ page, the customer pays for the return. Here's what it says:

If I return the Fit Tower™ within the 30 Day Trial Period am I responsible for Return Shipping?
In order to give you the opportunity to try the Fit Tower™, we ship it to your home free of charge. However, if you decide to return, the return shipping costs are not covered and vary by carrier and location.

What if I decide to return the Fit Tower™?
If you are not 100% satisfied for any reason contact a Fit Tower™ customer service representative at 1-800-443-9130 within 30 days you can return your Fit Tower™ for a full refund or credit (excluding shipping and handling upon return.)

HTH.

As far as the barbell goes the Fit Tower uses the same size barbell as the old Tower. As for return shipping I would think you would be responsible, but probably best to ask the Fit Tower customer service this question directly. You can find there contact info on the Fit Tower website.

Hi. Hope you don't mind me asking this.... Which Golds Gym Squat rack do you have? I'm looking for a good one at a decent price.

Thanks.

I bought my Gold Gym at Walmart years ago. It came with the bench ,weight plates and a full size olympic barbell 45 lb BB:)? I also come with 300 or 400 lb different size weight plates. I never use that much weight :) .Someone here on the Cathe forum posted about the Gold Gym years ago. A lot Catheltes went out and bought Gold Gym. I will try to post a pic later. If I am not mistaken the entire set under $100 :p Best buy ever, IMO! I use my daily. It's still holding up nicely. At that time DH and I were stationed in Germany. I had it shipped to Germany and now it's sitting here in the US :) Still looks band new.

PS: If anyone of you want the old FitTower and lives in WV or the DC area. Please pm me:D I am remolding my workout room and the tower is just sitting unused around. I also have a few extra Reebook steps.

Well, I guess when it arrives, the mystery will be solved, is it 32 or 36"... I don't really care....I kinda' hope it is only 32" across, like the
other one. I've cleared a space for it being 36 x 36, cause that is what it says, but it will fit a lot better if it's only 32 across. My first tower is
staying where it is....I leave that one up all the time and slide it out when I use it.....and that's what I'll do with this one, in another room...
they slide real easy on carpet.....and when I'm done, I just slide it back where it was.....I have a Danskin padded barbell which will only
fit on 32", it would be too short for something 36" across, but the other 2 barbells I have are longer bars and I think either of those
will fit on 36" supports. so whatever it is, bring it on.. :)

@aqua girl, I use my old Firm barbell on the old Tower. My DH put a few large washers on the end of the barbell (between the bar and the stoplock) so that it would fit on the tower because my barbell was just a smidge too narrow for the Tower. I don't lift super heavy (yet ;)), so this works for me. I love the Tower and am so happy that Cathe has some new workouts for it!
