PLB

Oh man!! I viewed Pyramid Lower Body today, and was exhausted watching it!! I am planning to do the Pyramids in a few weeks, and was wondering if any of you substitute dumbells for the barbell in PLB? I thought that I would get too frustrated my first few times doing this if I had to keep changing the barbell.....at least til I got the hang of it.

Have you noticed a big difference using these tapes? I need to lose all over, especially my lower abs on down!

Thanks much,

Kim

Kim, I really like PLB,& PUB ... not as tough as it looks, but still tough, I wondered about all those lunges lol, but not so bad ... enjoy :7 .......... Rhonda

I've done this workout using dumbells and I've done it using a barbell. I like both ways equally well, they both have their good points. I've only been using it for about 3 weeks (2 times one week, and once the other two weeks, only the last time with the barbell), and I've already seen some improvements in strength. I think it helped shake me out of a little plateau.

Absolutely DO substitute dumbbells for the barbell! The changes are so much easier and it makes the whole workout more fun in my opinion.

Thanks, Rhonda!! I'm stilling messing with ME, and should be doing that one sometime today when I lose this headache altogether (actually excited about doing it). I hope in a few weeks I'll be stronger for doing PLB!!!!!!!!!

I load my barbell with the heaviest weight I know I'll use, and then I use dumbells for the other sets. My barbell is the kind that takes longer to change weights than the ones they use in Cathe's videos, and I would be taking too long in between sets if I stopped to change weights. I have another barbell (the old Firm one), and sometimes I'll load that one with the second heaviest weight I know I'll use, only because for some exercises I find a barbell more comfortable to use than dumbells.

One more question......(yeah, right..hahaha). When using dumbells, do you hold them by your side or on your shoulders?

Thanks again!

I usually put them on my shoulders for everything except static lunges and plie squats. I find it easier to balance that way. For plie squats and static lunges, I find it more comfortable for some reason to hold them by my side.

Hi Kim,

Yes, I surely noticed a big difference with my legs with PLB. I rotate that with several other of Cathe's lower body workouts.

I use a pair of 15-lb. dumbbells, a 35-lb. barbell, and a pair of 20-lb. dumbbells for PLB. It's just easier to switch weights this way. And as I wait for Cathe to finish switching plates, I can use that time to catch my breath.:) I put the dumbbells on my shoulders. Since they're heavy and can really press on my shoulders, I wrap a thick, rolled towel around my shoulders. This way I feel the weight, not pain.

Hope this helps. You will love PLB!

PLB is an awesome workout! For some reason I found it easier to build up to heavy weights with this workout. You will love it. The stability ball work is great! As a matter of fact I just finished PLB 5 minutes ago. Good luck!:7

WOW!! Now I can't wait to do this one in a few weeks!! Maybe I will cheat and throw it in before then!! lol

Kim

Hi Kim, you are going to love PLB. What I do is use all dumbells for the step up and lunges. And for the squats I use a a barbell because I feel more balance. Also sometimes I'll use the barbell for the lunges too. I guess It just all depend if you feel like changing weights that day. Let us know when you do it and have fun:)

Hi Kim,
Sometimes I switch to dumbbells as the back of my neck and shoulders get irritated by the barbell (I don't have one of those padded doo-hickeys for my barbell). So I will use dumbbells for step-ups and lunges, barbell for the rest.

If I just do one of the premixes, I use the barbell for everything.
