Plateau

Hi all,

I have hit a plateau with my weight loss. It is a slow process for me anyway but for the last 2 weeks my weight is stuck. I have around 10 - 15 more lbs to lose. I am thinking of ordering BootCamp and High Step Advanced. I have high step intermediate and really like that style of workout. I strength and cardio train with Cathe workouts 5 - 6 days/week and use a nordic track for additonal cardio variety. My eating has been strict, 4 to 5 small meals per day, good quality foods. I think it need some type of new workout to break out of this plateau.

thanks,

Cindy

I personally favor HSTA bc it is harder than BC (IMHO) and bc it keep my heartrate going the whole time.......if you run a search you can see all sorts of posts on Bootcamp and HSTA........

I really hate hitting plateaus, but it happens. Whenever I hit a plateau - I do something completely different for two or three weeks - this is what i have done in the past for plateau's......

Slow and heavy rotation
Yoga for 2-3 weeks daily
Jogging every day and abs for two weeks
or
Take a week off ( I know - not the best option)

Hi Reba,

Thanks for your input. I currently skip the core sections on HST beginner and continue with cardio or compound weight moves to keep my heart rate up. I really love that type of workout so maybe HSTA would be the best choice for me. I want to enjoy the extra effort it will take to get off this plateau!! A week off sounds good too but I am afraid to do that until I have lost more weight. Just when I think that I know my body and how it responds to exercise, it changes.

Reba,
When you say yoga for 2 to 3 weeks do you mean in addition to your current exercise schedule or do you do exclusively yoga? Also how many minutes of yoga a day? I'm just getting into yoga and have time to fit it into my schedule now, but as a school teacher, when school starts, I don't know how I will fit it in on a regular basis other than to replace one of my regular workouts with yoga. TIA!

P.S. Edited to ask...Cindy, if you post your current rotation, you may get more responses. I think focusing on a type of workout completely different then what you are currently doing will shake things up for you. If you do mostly cardio focus on endurance training or strength training. Or if you've done more strength training, bump up the cardio. Do you do interval cardio and kickboxing? Also, I think a week or two of circuit training can shake things up for your body...ex:
M: BC
T: Steady state cardio
W: One of the High Step workouts
Th: Interval cardio
F: Rest
S: Kickboxing cardio(including the blast section from KM)
Su C&W or Circuit Max or BodyMax or SJP(depending on how intense you want to go and how your body feels or throw in a total body endurance workout like PH)
M: Rest then start all over again.

If you are doing a lot of cardio try heavier strength training:
M: One of the S&H
T: Interval cardio
W: One of the S&H
Th: Kickboxing cardio
F: One of the S&H
S: Another interval cardio or hi/lo
Su: Rest

Good luck!:7
