Plateau Help

Hi Cathe
I've been working out to videos consistantly for close to 3 years and have lost 50 pounds so far. I'm really proud of what I've accomplished since I'm smaller than I was in high school. Unfortunately, I've still got about 35 pounds to go and I've been stalled at 179 for close to a year. In the past 3 weeks I've been limiting my calories to 1200 to 1650 a day and have bumped my workouts up to 6 a week (from 5). I'm still not seeing any progress. Any tips on getting off this plateau?

bumping!!!!!I too, have not been able to get the scale to move (besides up) !!

I have read that eating clean-raw foods, no sugar, etc...is a major factor...I tried SOuth Beach, with good results-but then I fall off the diet trail, and not only do I get frustrated, but just want to give up...I know for me, it is definitely my bad snacking habits late at night that ruins my efforts.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I am not Cathe, but I just wanted to say that I have been working out consistently for about 6 months and seemed to reach a plateau. I just went on a short vacation for the weekend and took full advantage. I did not work out and ate what I wanted to (within reason). I think that was the best thing for me because when I got back, I thought boy am I gonna be sorry, but I actually lost weight. I seem to have broken my plateau and am now back to losing. I think that what some of the other girls were saying on the open discussion about needing to take a break every couple of months may be true. At least for me it seems to be. So I have decided that after every couple of rotations I will be taking a short break. Hope you find what works for you and your body.:)

I usually lose a little weight on vacation. I think it's because I don't spend nearly as much time sitting on vacation than I do when I'm home. When I'm on vacation, I spend most of my time on my feet so I think that makes up for being a bit lax with my diet and exercise.
