Plate Mate Substitutes

Hello,
Just an FYI for a plate mate sub. Yesterday I as at my local Sports Authority just "looking" around. I did find the Perfect Pullup with the ab straps on sale for $79 so I might have to get that since some of the ladies here are very happy with this product.

However I did find what I think is a good sub for plate mates and MUCH cheaper! I found wrist weights that are a total of 5#'s each but in 1/4 pound increments. The pair was $17.00. Any thoughts?

Is your idea to put them on the dumbbells? That might work. I'd also hate to wear them on my wrists.

If they are comfortable, I think they'd be a perfect solution (you can go from 1/4# to 5# in 1/4# increments, is that right?). They would nicely enable you to bridge the gap between dumbbells, which are usually 5# apart in weight (at least those 15# and larger).

More than 2#s on my wrist feels awkward & stresses my wrist area. I don't know if there's an easy answer...I've been struggling w/the odd # increments. I'm getting a little frustrated because for some exerciises it takes me too long to figure out what I need to do & add plates/micro gloves, etc..i don't want to rest too much in meso 1.

Sometimes I find myself just choosing the closest weight & not worrying about the EXACT number so I can continue w/the wo.

That said, I'm still LOVING STS - something totally different & challenging for me.

The package indicates that they can be used as ankle weights also. Prior to purchasing though I did try them on. I have child sized wrists so I put them and tightened them as far as the velcro would allow. Just a hair bit loose, of course I was trying to make them as sung as possible so they don't slip around. I then figured I could just wear a terry cloth wristband underneath and that would take care it. the weight squares fit snugly in the strap so no issue of them falling out while doing large range of motion movements.
