Planning for the future

Hey Cathe,
My husband and I hope to start trying to expand the family soon and I was wondering if you have thought of providing a workout rotation for expectant moms? I don't want to gain the weight that I gained with my two boys (55 pounds both pregnancies). I've worked really really hard to get back to within 10 pounds of my pre-pregnancy body, and I also want to maintain my energy level and strength so I can be a good mom to my boys while I'm pregnant (assuming God blesses us again). I know that lots of people (including myself) have encouraged you to produce a pregnancy workout, but I really think that many of your workouts could be tailored for expecting moms. A rotation would help out a lot. What do you think?

Congratulations Stephanie! How exciting!!!!!

Pregnancy is so different for each person. While I think it is sooooo wonderful that you really want to stay on top of your fitness program at this time, it would be nearly impossible for any one person to benefit from a set 30 day rotation having to deal with their changing needs at this very special time. This is a time in your life where you really need to take your workouts day by day and listen to your body each step of the way. When you have good days, you workout as best as you can. When you have bad days, you don't. When you feel so-so, you need to see what your body is up for...light weights? cardio? a light circuit? or maybe even just a nap!!! Your hormones, emotions, physical state, etc. fluctuate so greatly from day to day that a generalized 30 day rotation wouldn't be overly beneficial for all of our mommy to be's out there.

But please feel free to ask me fitness pregnancy questions when this special time arrives. I'd love to help you out. Also be sure to chime in our Fit Moms forum for support too.

Good Luck with everything
:)

Thanks, Cathe. If we are blessed with a number 3 (or I suppose, a Thing 3, as I call my boys Thing 1 and Thing 2 --they love Dr. Seuss anyway...), I just want to make sure I don't lose total control of my body as I did with my other pregnancies. I think that makes being a new mom even harder. I'll definitely check in the pregnancy forum for support. I think it's so wonderful that you provide such a wide array of support for women of all ages and life stages trying to stay in shape and stay strong. Thanks again for all you do!!!
