Hi Cathe -

I have been using your dvd's to workout for 4 years now and I have to tell you my workouts are one of the high points of my day. Thank you for putting out such fun and effective dvd's so I can enjoy working out in the comfort of my home. I do have one question though - about a certain exercise you use throughout many of your different dvds. The plank move. I was just wondering - is this a yoga move?

Thank you! :)

Hi Xiangnimen! Thank you for your kind note.

As for your question, the plank pose is very popular in yoga practice but it is also used in a wide variety of workouts due to its superior benefits.

The plank pose is one of the most popular exercises to strengthen your core region (which includes your back, spine, and abdominal muscles). A strong core is absolutely essential for all forms of workouts as it is the body's central strength/support system. When your core/foundation is strong it helps to reduce the risk of injury, promotes good posture and develops better overall body awareness.

Additionally, the plank pose strengthens the arms, wrists, shoulders, and even the lower body.

So it's easy to see how this move is a very popular inclusion to any workout.
