Pizza! Let's debate!

Thanks!! Now I am wanting pizza and beer :p

I traditionally like a thin whole wheat crust with loads and loads of mushrooms YUMMY!!

We have a pizza place here called Wicks pizza. Oh my they have the best pizza eva!! That is the only time I like a thicker crusts. I am drooling just thinking about it!!!

Oh and Dani, I want to come to your house!! Your DH is a gourmet chef-how lucky you are girl!!!!

I lived in Italy for several years and we used to get pizza at a place called Pizza Marino. There were two kinds to choose from - sauce and cheese, or sauce, cheese and anchovies. Cooked in a real wood oven. Absolutely nothing has ever come close to that. They didn't REALLY do take-out, but they did it for me a couple of times. They didn't have pizza boxes though, so it was sitting in a cardboard box with toothpicks on top to keep the waxed paper off of it:p

Pizza here doesn't have that same flavour, so I put toppings on it. Feta, spinach, grilled zucchini, mushrooms, broccoli... those are some of my faves.

We're having pizza tonight and now I'm all excited.

Oh, now I NEED pizza for dinner!!!

I like practically any kind of pizza, with any kind of toppings, with a couple of exceptions: Don't like Dominos or Papa Johns (used to do marketing for Pizza Hut, it is the only major chain I can eat now.)

And I will never never again eat any pizza with PINEAPPLE on it!!!!

The best pizza I've had was from Sally's in New Haven, Ct. Its been around forever, and well known in this area. Its brick oven style. Unfortunately, we waited 3 hours(!!) last time, no kidding. I think they may cook 1 pizza at a time!!! Its so good, though!!! ~~Nancy J.~~

Pasta Pizza

Pizza with your choice of linguine, fettecine or torellini and your sauce of marinara or alfredo. Then add toppings and bake. It's served at our local watering hole.

Our fav is the torto with alfredo, smoked turkey and onion.

YES - it is fattening and screams for wine and/or beer.

i think NY style definitely. to me, however, brick-oven is so good....with only a topping other than cheese....but no veggies on my pizza....

i haven't found a good pizza place here in valencia, ca yet.....but i am still looking...

No thanks. It really is one of the most overrated foods in existence. I only eat it when forced to on road trips, when pizza hut serves the only food my vegetarian kids will eat for dinner.

But the best pizza I ever ate was in Marseille, France. It was enormous, incredibly thin crust and we ate it sitting on the wall overlooking the sea (la corniche). It was the atmosphere that helped make it an incredible meal. No other pizza has ever come close.

Anyone ever had BREAKFAST PIZZA?!?! Crust, no sauce, cheese, scrambled eggs, bacon, and maple sausage.... (from Ukrop's Supermarket, of course).

OH.MY.WORD.best.pizza.ever.

Laura, where in VA did you live? I am in NW VA.

I love pretty much all pizza, but NO pepperoni for me (turkey or otherwise)! Ever since the scrapple incident on the road trip, I can't eat any kind of processed meat

I've gotten so used to making my own healthier pizza at home, but my all-time favorite is in my hometown at a place called Happy Joe's. They have what they call the Happy Joe's Special that has canadian bacon & sauerkraut. I know, sounds weird but it is SOOO good. It's on a thinner, hand tossed crust. They also have a taco pizza that's delish!

If I do eat pizza, it's usually a DeLite frome Papa Murphy's (Take & Bake), the Mediterranean Chicken Garlic pizza DeLite is my favorite healthier pizza.

I'm not a fan of Pizza Hut or deep dish pizza. I used to like Papa John's w/ the garlic dipping sauce, but haven't had that in years either!

But now thanks... I'm craving pizza!! :p Oh, and I have eaten broccoli on my pizza before, but I usually prefer other veggies like mushrooms, green peppers, onions, etc.

Greek style

Fairly thin crust. Olive oil. Light garlic white sauce. Smoked mozzrella. Spinach. Mushroom. Parmesan cheese on top.

I have eaten cold pizza for breakfast.

I only like thick crust if it is really good. Not under done. But thin should not be like a cracker.
I've not had turkey sausage on pizza. Might be ok. Meat is good :)
broccoli- not so much. zucchini is better.
What else is important? Idk. Iced tea to drink. Skip the salad, need to save room for the pizza.

Maybe I should learn to make this. Whole wheat dough. That would make it ok. With pesto and parmesan? Tasty!

NY Style, thin, folded (if my braces will allow it) with pepperoni and mushrooms.

Worst pizza I ever had was in France. They put barely cooked eggs on top. NASTY.

When we're talking PIZZA pizza I get thin crust with meat. What kinds of meat and other toppings depends on where I'm getting it because different pizza places do different things well. One chain here has what they call a Founders Favorite that I like (Pepperoni, sausage, hot peppers, and Sugardale ham, which has a slight sweetness) when I'm in the mood for that specific taste. If I go to another place it's strictly pepperoni and mushroom. Yet another place I get pepperoni and sausage. I rarely like sausage because most places use a type that's just too greasy and dominates the flavor, but the last place I mentioned does it very well.

I hate thick crust, period. And deep dish is an entirely different animal from PIZZA pizza. Love it - for what it is, but it's not really pizza. Of course, the real test of a pizza is what does it taste like when it's cold, the next day. This is where the second pizza I mentioned wins. Their pepperoni and mushroom beats EVERYTHING easily because their pepperoni is super spicy and made especially for them by a local sausage company. But the place that does the pepperoni and mushroom is under new management, after 30 years, and the pies aren't what they used to be.

thick crust vs. thin? Thick
NY style vs Chicago deep dish? Doesn't matter
turkey pepperoni -is it a crime or salvation? Crime
broccoli - does it belong on pizza? ever? Doesn't belong on pizza
What else is important to YOU? Nothing, it just needs to taste good

My absolute favorite pizza in the entire universe originated in Fords, NJ. It's a pizza place called Sciorotino's (sp?). It was a hole in the wall pizza joint for years (my mom went there as a kid/teenager)that was started by little old ladies using a home made recipe. It's a smaller pie/pieces then average, thin crust and oh so yummy! They don't use alot if any mozzerella cheese. The sauce is fantastic with a hint of sweetness and they use parmingan (sp?) cheese on it. It's freakin' AWESOME!

The thing that is gonna gross y'all out is that I love anchovies and my fave pie to get when I go there is well, ofcourse, the ANCHOVIE PIE!!!!! MMMM MMMM GOOD!

The hole in wall pizza joint is now a full-fledge restaraunt with a bar and everything in South Amboy. They were forced out of their original location in Fords so when they moved I guess they decided to make it bigger. It was LITERALLY a hole in the wall that served pizza, subs and few other assorted italian dishes. Now they have a full menu of yummy stuff to choose from.

Ooooh Pizza! Universal comfort food!

In India, pizza is very poular. We also get curry/local flavor influenced pizza. Pizza sauce on these pizzas could be a fusion of Italian tomato sauce and curry. Or the toppings could be Indian style kabab. There are many, many veggie options here because many Indians are vegetarian.

I have noticed that pizza is less cheesy outside the United States. My first pizza slice in the United States was a culture shock. I could not imagine people actually consumed something so sinful.

I love all pizza, but Chicago deep dish - the most sinful of the all, is my favorite. When I am feeling good I like pizza with whole wheat crust and lots of veggies and without cheese. Most often I order pizza cheeseless. My favorite part of the pizza is the pizza sauce. Just regular ol' pizza sauce drives me to ecstasy.

Pizza Hut and Dominos were launched in India a few years ago. Apart from regular pizzas, they too offer Indi-Pizzas.
