Phooey on efficiency!

I've decided to be less efficient at work. ;) I normally try to consolidate trips the supply room, bathroom, etc so I'm at my desk more. I work like a fiend anyway, so I just wanted to get more done.

Well guess what, that was just making me a sedentary slug...no way I can get my 10,000 steps in that way (and you can be sure the boss never noticed or appreciated it).

I just figured out with my GWF that 1 roundtrip to the supply room knocks out 450 steps! I'm away from my desk for maybe 8 minutes, and then dive right back in. I betcha I could knock out 2500 steps a day just by doing errands when I think of them, instead of trying to do them all in one trip. Again, I am VERY productive and efficient in my job, so I don't think this will affect my actual work.

I've also decided to take a 15 minute walk outside after I eat, unless it's pouring rain or super hot out. I usually eat my lunch at my desk and stay put. It's amazing, this little GWF gadget is making me change my way of thinking.

I'm open for all other advice on getting more active (besides working out). I can't park farther away due to where I work, but I'm open to suggestions!

In our building, it's a bit of a walk to the ladies room from where I sit. For some reason, I seem to get all of my best ideas on those little walks. Maybe it's because the blood is circulating to my brain more, or maybe it's just a chance to think instead of "do". I think that eliminating movement isn't necessarily more efficient. It may actually be more efficient in the long run.

For me, sitting for long periods of time are incredibly bad for my back, so walking around is important. Sitting all day is one of the worse things we do to our bodies!

I've become less efficient too.
Instead of just walking down the hall to go to the ladies room, I go up 3 flights of steps and down a long hall. Then, sometimes I use the handicap rails to do 'countertop' pushups, then I go down the other set of stairs, and take a quick walk around the plant floor before i go back to my work area. I make sure i drink about 10 cups of water by noon-6 of that before i even leave the house for work to make sure I have to take a walk often-usually at least 6 trips a day- every little bit helps. My pants are fitting a little looser. I take my Ipod and listen to cardio coach at lunch.
Also, I've been walking on my breaks and at lunchtime as well as take my dogs for a quick 20 minutes walk AM and PM.
I'm happy to report that Jethrene my overweight Boston Terrier has lost 2 pounds. :D Which is inspiring to me!

Sometimes I get bored on my walks and I do math problems in my head like figuring budget or whatever.
