Has anybody every used PetAir? We need to send my Mom's cat from Pennsylvania to Texas. This is the only way I can think of getting the cat to her.

Does anybody have anyother suggestion?

Thanks
Barbara

Try Delta Cargo. My mom put my dogs on a flight from the states and we picked them up at the other end in Italy. Go to Delta's website to look up their number. Pet Air is expensive!! Good Luck!

Personally, I'd drive there with the cat.
I can't imagine a cat not being traumatized (or worse) by air travel.

No experience with PetAir...

Some airlines will allow a certain number of small pets (cats and small dogs) in the passenger cabin. I think in most cases they need to be in carrier that will fit under the seat. Every airline has its own individual policies about this, so you may have to actually call them to get the real deal.

I'm with Kathryn on this. Unless it was a big emergency, I wouldn't fly my pet in cargo...I know plenty of people do, but I'd be wreck the whole freakin' time!

Maybe this is an opportunity for a road trip...:p

I flew my dogs cargo because they are large, and we moved to Italy during the summer months and there is a pet embargo during the summer months, where airlines won't fly them, so we came here without them. After the summer, my mom sent them to us by the way of delta cargo. There is no driving them here to Italy, so I did not have a choice. They will be flying back to the states next year. I think as long as you have the vet papers, (you need a health certificate from your vet within 10 days of your pet flying), things should be fine.

People with kids in school, and jobs, can't always put things on hold to drive cross country. Plenty of people here flew with their cats and dogs here to Italy, and you know what, they were all fine!!

My first choice would be PetAir--I have not used them tho. I would be very reluctant to send a pet cargo. We traveled with a cat for many years between India and NY and always flew with the cat in the cabin with us.

Pet Air

I have heard wonderful things about Pet Air. Unless you are flying with the animal under your seat I would use Pet Air. The pets are flown in the cabin & there are attendants with them at all times. They are not much more than cargo in an airplaine

Good luck

I bought my golden retriever from a breeder out in Indiana. (I am in NJ) She refuses to put her puppies on a plane. She drove my puppy out to me and brought mom along for the ride so that he wouldn't be alone in the crate! :)

Not sure PetAir was even an option at the time (6 yrs ago) but it probably would have jacked up the price of the dog if she would have used them.

Thanks for all of your responses. Driving is not an option since nobody is driving to Texas.

I will probably check out PetAir, it may be expensive but I think the cat might be better looked after than as cargo on another plane.
