I am back from the ride, 7.5 miles. muddy but OK. its a good skill to have in this area, riding thru mud.
My grandmother cooked for us more than my mother, but they cooked german food. everything in a cream sauce or floating in butter, way overcooked. they even had access to loads of fresh vegetables, and uncle was a truck farmer who brought them things regularly but didn't matter, they boiled everything to mush and then gave it another 10 min just to be sure. they were good at cakes, pastries, pies, but not so great with standard vegetables. lots of fatty meat. my grandmother ate the fat all by itself, like the Jack Sprat fairy tale. everything was made so you couldn't taste whatever poor vegetable was buried in there. they were fat inactive people. I taught myself to cook when I left home at about 18, with books and buying fresh vegetables and learning ways to cook them, one vegie at a time. At least I got the idea of cooking my own food from home, rather than canned, frozen, or ( lately) take out.
I know how heavy my Manduka mat is. this one looks much bigger. does not bode well for reasonable price.
Carolyn glad you like that recipe. I always have of napoleon red peppers on hand. the last people I made that recipe for thought it was too spicy, while even my DH doesn't think it spicy. I want heat in Everything so my judgement is not too objective hDH is pretty delicate. He thinks it’s fine. so you never can tell.
