getting us started..

we got back from MT by 5 -ish last night. need to reset the clock, off by 2 hours. I can reset everything else, not that. this will be a deal breaker for me. I wont buy another car with impossible electronics. I have enough trouble with the seat belt. if I get the seat forward enough to reach pedals, the bracket for the seat belt is so far behind me I can BARELY barely reach it. if my shoulders were not so flexible it would not be possible. my older forester is easy to do the clock, and the seat belt is just fine. its like the newer design is for men not women.
no workout yesterday, just driving for 10.75 hours.

It feels like we are losing participation in this thread. I know everyone can't be here every day or maybe even every week, but it will be sad to lose this. Is there anything we can do to bring this back to life? can anyone think of ways to put some more "spring" into this?

Today is my rest day and I really feel like I need it.

Valerie, I’m glad that you had a safe drive home. Eleven hours is a long time to be in a vehicle. I hate car trips so much that it would be torture for me. It does seem that the group is falling apart. It has saddened me to see the loss of participation, but I don’t have any suggestions.

Hello to everyone and I hope that you are doing well.

Hi Everyone,

I finished my rest week and yesterday I did KCM Raw Box & Pump #4. I really enjoyed that one and plan on doing it again. I worked a 4 hour shift today and plan on doing a short Peloton ride tonight.

I'm sorry I haven't been posting more. I try to post once or twice a week. It makes me sad to see the loss of participation too. I'm not sure about how to increase participation but maybe adding something like a weekly challenge, focusing on core one week and doing some of Cathe's bonus core routines. Or focusing on upper body and doing the XTrain 100 rep challenges one week. We could also do more recipe sharing and maybe have one day a week to share recipes. These ideas might not work at all, but I'm just kind of brainstorming and thinking of things I've seen some FB groups do to get people to participate more.

Yesterday I did Get Steppin which is a fun workout. She didn't lose track of where we were until the final combo groups and the class kept it going in some areas and she just picked back up. This morning I was tired and still sore, so I did Mobility instead of cardio. Back to STS tomorrow. 3 more weeks and hopefully I survive it! Beautiful here the last couple days and I've been walking more outside in the yard.

Valerie glad you made it back safely. I love my current car clock as I just have to bring up the settings and switch the time. When we had the van, I had to pull out the manual every darn time, because I could never remember how to do it. I haven't been around long enough to know how much more people posted in the past.

Carolyn I hope the remainder of your rest day was enjoyable.

Judy great job on the KCM workout!

Hi

Today I did Live PHA Supersets, 44 minutes, 268 calories. I took off a week off from working out last week, just didn’t feel it.

Valerie, that is a lot of driving, I can imagine how exhausting it must be. Yes, the Subaru electronic clocks are a PITA to change. My 2008 had a clock with the knobs you just turned. I wish they would have stayed with that type of clock.

I find that I do not go on to my computer as much as I used to. I lIke some of Judy’s ideas...maybe post more on nutrition, recipe ideas,

Judy, nice job on the KCM workout.

Cathy, you are doing great on STS!

Carolyn, Hope you had a relaxing day.

Hi to everyone...

our cars are easy to change time..... except for newer Forester. DH wrote a procedure for changing the time but I still can't follow it. it's just one of those things... tried a dozen times, not doing it again. I use my watch or my phone and ignore the car clock if its wrong. I dont know what they were thinking. clocks should be easy to change. I get plenty of practice with ovens, microwaves etc. every time we travel I have to reset clocks at each end of the trip, plus my wrist watch so I'm not "stupid" but I can't get the subaru one to work.

I don't like the 11 hrs of driving but that is the only choice. no other reasonable way to get there, and dividing it into two days makes it worse. next trip we'll take our camper and do a bike ride or two along the way so it will take longer but that is easier and pleasant. theres a great bike trail in northern idaho but april is about the earliest to do it. last year we couldn't do it because of covid there were no places to stay campgrounds were still closed.

I am taking today off exercise in addition to yesterday. feeling tired, and just got back from shopping and unloading groceries.

I am not a facebook fan, never was. obnoxious thing causes so much harm, and undermined message boards where people with a common interest could converse. I use it only for information from groups only available there, otherwise Id completely disconnect from it.

we never had a huge group going here but it feels like we are all posting less. I was hoping just bringing up the topic might make us all try to post more and keep things afloat. I like to feel accountable and have a place to report what I do. WW has the connect feature but there are so many people on there, its quite impersonal and conversations don't happen.

This morning I did CDorner Cardio Core short workout 20 minutes, 41 calories, heart rate 98/138. That is all, I got a bunch of work done packing and doing some things outside, clearing the storage shed and sweeping it. Maybe I will do something in the morning. I will have to see. My husband told me to go ahead and order the Garmin Vivo Active 4S that I am wanting. It will be here Tuesday. I sure hope it works better than Fitbit. It has the wifi and SP02 , sleep and pretty much what the Fitbit Versa 2 does. School tomorrow.
I still need to go over that if I can before bed.

Valerie, I am trying to get here. I do enjoy sharing with the group and am hoping when this move is over along with school I will have much more time. I am so stretched out on getting things done around here and being able to enjoy my fitness communication and morning devotions that I love gets pushed back some. I need to find a way to get more sleep as well, as I find myself sitting up at night reading posts, doing my turn on Word With Friends with a long time friend. My life has not been what I like it to be like lately. I am pretty sick of al lot of the social media. My church finally got their own website where I can listen to services without watching on facebook, so I think we are going to finish getting rid of it. I do follow Kelly Coffey on a group though, but not as much as I was. Otherwise I just have a few family members. Got rid of most everyone when facebook wanted a lot of info they do not need for me to be on facebook, so they just said I am too young. I dumped Instagram as well. I also do not like facebooks new format at all. I only talk to my brothers through messenger once in awhile.

Judy, I do like the idea of sharing recipes and nutrition information. I enjoy talking about all kinds of things here. I think in some way that all of the lockdowns and being stuck with nothing but social media has kind of made people want to do something else for awhile?? When I get on the computer I am usually shopping, paying bills, gathering school work together, etc.. I liked the Box and Pump 4 too. I still think Box and Pump 2 in my favorite. I see she has a another boxing workout with the egg weights and weighted vest. I will wait till we get moved as my equipment is packed. I had to use paper plates for the core workout today instead of gliders although Chris does give other options with nothing or waxed paper.

Deb, I do find if I make myself stay off the computer as much I get a lot more productive things done around here. It is easy to get zoned into something and sit at the computer for hours.

Good morning,

Today I did Perfect 30, Low Impact HIIt 30 minutes, 215 calories.

Valerie, I am going to try and post more here...."things" just kind of overwhelmed me, starting with John's kidney stone issue, then his fall and all that involved.

Diane Sue, you sure have a lot on your plate with school responsibilities and moving! You will have to let us know how the new Garmin works.

Hi to everyone,

Take care,

I'm not trying to be 'controller in chief" here. I will miss this thread if it withers away. seen it happen before, often because the sponsor decides to drop the forum format. it has been especially nice this year with limited outside connections.
easy to see the forum concept has fallen out of popularity. I'm not a fan of fb or instagram. cousin has recently become active on facebook. so annoying. people either agree strongly or disagree strongly and there is no civil conversation. a total waste of everyone's time. there are a few groups I belong to that post info on fb only so I want to maintain my account. the tree farm where we mountain bike posts updates there and only there. also a neighborhood group in MT and here. some posts from family scattered around the country. had the account for 20 years with limited use.

Today I did Rev’d Up Rumble for 41 minutes and 294 calories burned. Average heart rate was 130 and maximum heart rate was 157. I renewed my subscription to Chris Freytag’s gethealthyutv site today after they sent an offer that is a significant discount. I like the workouts as a nice change from my usual trainers.

Judy, nice job with KCM Raw Box and Pump. I admire your ability to do a workout after you come home from work.

Cathy, great job with Live Get Stepping and the Mobility workout. You are doing great with STS.

Valerie, I appreciate your efforts to keep the group active. I’ve never been much of a participant on other sites even Connect. I will read but I never post.

Deb, it’s great to see you here. I was concerned about you. Nice job with Live PHA Supersets and P30 Low Impact HiiT. Have you tried the Mobility workout from Perfect 30?

Diane Sue, you have so much going on right now. You are doing a great job of fitting in your workouts. I hope that you like the new Garmin. It has to be an improvement over your Versa 2.

Enjoy your day everyone.

we are getting a huge outdoor landscape project done that is starting today. I will be around more than usual. plus a plumbing issue.
carolyn, connect is fine to read and get ideas but like most online sites, there is little conversation. people voting in polls, or giving each other "atta girls". I would never post a picture like many do. I've posted a few times and never get much response, like 3 comments, whereas other posts get hundreds of responses. not sure how that happens. its just not the same thing.

we also have a plumber coming today to find a leak in our upstairs plumbing somewhere. we noticed it just before leaving on our trip so turned off water etc while we were gone. didn't get worse but no clue what is failing. two upstairs bathrooms and leak is in between them.

diane sue report back on the Garmin for us. I haven't invested in a fitness monitor. our new elliptical gives a heart rate /calorie burn from the hand holds, better than our old one. so many things you have running at the moment!

Deb whenever you aren't around for a while I start thinking of your husband or your doggies. Same for Lori, who hasn't been around for a while.

Today I did CDorner 100th Step Workout Advanced 62 minutes(58 actual as I start moving as the workout is loading and she talks) heart rate 144/171, 388 calories, 5,867 steps. I also did one of her full mobility workouts, 30 minutes, 50 calories, heart rate 90/122, 323 steps. This one started out more active than others I have done. I liked it, but no neck stretches. It is mostly lower body and hands.
Total time 92 minutes, 438 calories, 6,190 steps. My grandchildren are coming after lunch as we only have two subjects to get in for my grandson. Still gradually packing. I am tired today. I got up early forgetting that my son in law was bringing them,

This morning was STS Chest and Back. On the last set of flat bench presses, I forgot to switch my plates and only realized after that I'd done 5 lbs more than I was supposed to do. But, I'd done them, so I put that in as my new weight and then I looked at the front presses and decided I probably should up them, too. Barely could do that! We'll see come next week if that was really a good choice.

It's another beautiful 60's day here. Going out to walk again in a few to get my 10,000 steps in. We're doing our weekly family chat tonight since my sister moved yesterday and was exhausted, and still unpacking. The fridge didn't get delivered when it was supposed to, so they are having to make do with coolers. At least it's just the two of them. And it was I believe the dryer that showed up and while the box looked fine, the dryer inside had clearly been very damaged. So they took that back and I think the new one comes at the same time as the fridge.

Deb great job with the PHA Supersets and Low Impact Hiit!

Valerie my FB is so much different than it was a year ago and back. I've got it down to only about 30 friends, family, and people from when I was in LLL and homeschooled that I would lose touch with otherwise, and a few groups. I still have one person I worked with for over 10 years that I regular have to snooze, but I can't bring myself to delete her yet. I do more on Twitter, but that's a way different platform. I hope your project goes smoothly and that the plumber can find your leak!

Diane Sue looking forward to hearing how you like the Garmin. Fantastic that you are managing to get in workouts around everything else that you have going on right now.

Carolyn great job on the Rev'd Up Rumble!

I am stopping for some dinner. Dinner is a Primal Kitchen chicken pesto frozen bowl. I like these, but the have a lot of fat in them due to the pesto. It has cauliflower rice and broccoli in it with chicken cubes. They have a beef pepper bowl, but I do not care for it. It is way too spicy and the beef seems a bit odd textured. My grandson brought over more boxes, so maybe I will have some different sizes for some of the odd things around here. My Garmin will be here tomorrow :D .

Valerie, they have so many different social media platforms that I prefer to avoid, but it seems there are a lot of people that migrate to them over forums. I prefer the forums myself with more of an individual group that is not violating my privacy and selling my information all over the place. I am trying to get rid of unwanted text messages, some just plain nasty along with adds and everything else. I put our phones both back on the do not call list. I found a link from a Norton site to contact att with the phone numbers of objectionable texts. They come in and I cannot block the numbers. They come in with a whole string of phone numbers attached. I hate plumbing problems. We have had some sort of leak in several of our homes over the years. Slab leaks are awful. The last house we noticed a mold patch on the ceiling in the laundry and it was a pipe that leaked between upstairs and downstairs that had to be replaced. Really old plumbing. Landscaping is always a lot of work. Our Tread Climber has a chest strap that can be used with it. I forgot about it as I always used it with a fitness watch, then found it in a bag of paperwork for the Tread Climber while packing.

Deb, I understand the things overwhelming. I have felt it a lot, and am so behind on appointments and things I keep putting off. The lady that usually does the work of getting our ladies groups set up and planned out is the one that had covid and her husband tested negative, but had it too. He got kidney stones as he was getting better and had to deal with that and they said that that has happened in others who had covid. Not sure how that works.

Carolyn, it is nice to have a change with instructors once in awhile. Nice work today with Rev's Up Rumble. I have hopes for the new Garmin. I like Cathe's Mobility workouts. I have been enjoying CDorners as well.

Cathy, I have done that and realized later that I had did heavier weights than I thought I was using. Nice work. I have wondered if it is difficult to get appliances still. The people that are buying our house asked if we were willing to sell the refrigerator we have in the garage. I don't want to though. I use it for the freezer space. We told them they could have the dryer if they wanted it. My daughter and her husband are going to take our new washing machine. I am hoping I like the ones in the house we are moving too. They look like they have too many extras. I hate complicated and am hoping they are not smart appliances. The washer says Inverter Direct Drive motor 10 year warranty on it. It is a stainless pair of LG washer and dryer. It is HE top load washer. I really like my GE that actually washes the clothes in plenty of water.
I think I will probably not get a workout in in the morning as we have school and I have the inspector coming back to check out the things we fixed. Not unless I choose to workout later, but that would be difficult with school.

Today was all Peloton. I did 2-15 minute interval rides, then a 15 minute low impact ride as a cool down. I added on a 10 minute arm toning workout and 10 minute stretch.

Deb-Great job with Live PHA Supersets and Perfect 30 Low Impact HiiT. I'm going to try to post more frequently too.

Carolyn-Great job with Rev'd Up Rumble. It is hard to workout after work. I usually do a lower intensity ride just to get something in but I much prefer morning workouts.

Diane Sue-Great job getting in the workouts while you are moving and have so much going on. The Garmin looks like a good one. I can't wait to hear how you like it. I previewed Raw Box & Pump 2 and plan on doing it later this week.

Valerie- Forums have really fallen out of popularity. Several of the forums that I regularly followed have closed down. I hate to see that happen. I use FB mostly to keep in touch with family and friends from my hometown.

Cathy-Great job with STS Chest & Back! The weather has been so nice here too. I hope you had a good walk.

Our day went well yesterday. plumber cut holes in the ceiling drywall and found a small leak in a hot water pipe. water moves downhill so the place the ceiling gets wet is not necessarily under the leak. he patched the pipe but it was such a small defect! so DH and I decided to cut a little more drywall out to be sure ( the area needs replacing anyway) we got all of the problem. well, there was another small leak at a pipe junction a few inches away from the first repair. so plumber will be back. this is really great news since it means our neither bathroom remodel or the guest bathroom were the problem.
the landscape project is going well too with many of our old walls removed. so all in all, a good day tho we will need to have drywall replaced after we are sure the pipe fixes are holding.
I did 20 on the elliptical, x train abs, pushups, tricep push ups, dips, and curls. I had a whole week off of weights.
I always liked forums, don't care for standard social media. I have accounts but like you Judy, I use them to keep track of out of town friends/family and updates at places we hike and ride. not a lot of people really.

hopefully mt biking today but waiting on a time from the plumber.

diane sue I have a HE LG washer/dryer top loader. I LOVE it. My old W/D was 30 yrs old, so all electronics were new to me. (No! front load). it has huge capacity! load clothes, and it goes thru a weigh/balance rotation to decide how much water it needs. it fills with adequate water, not like the front loaders that barely get clothes wet. LG is the MT one. I think there's option for adding more water if you need it. when I had to replace my washer/dryer here in WA I would have bought another LG pair, I forget why, but got Samsung instead. same thing, HE top load. works about the same . I have no problem switching back and forth between houses, I don't need to look up directions each place. the only thing that is "iffy" is.... if you are short... reaching the bottom for the last sock might be a stretch. I'm short but I tested one at a showroom to be sure. without the center agitator, the capacity is HUGE, and you can do comforters etc easily. I am about 5'2" these days with a decent reach and its no problem.
there are complex layered complicated machines out there , but I wanted a reasonably large top loader... forget steam and other oddities. I cant say enough positive about these new machines. they are great.

I agree with Judy, you have done an amazing job getting in workouts with all the stuff you have going on.

I did Steptastic this morning. It's good workout though she puts in intervals between things and I could do with less jacks. I do love that you do the first combo a ton of times since it starts with three mambo cha chas and a full pivot and I just find that move extra fun. LOL

I have a front load washer, and I like it for one main reason! I have never in my life had a top load where I could reach everything! Diane Sue my sister needed a fridge, washer/dryer and had to call a lot of places in order to find something and they ended up going with a more basic fridge because they would have it sooner. They had planned to keep the washer/dryer from the condo, but the couple that bought it wanted them, so they put them in the deal.

Judy great job on the Peloton workout!

Valerie glad that you were able to figure out where you leaks were. Hopefully it's all take care of soon. Also, that the yard work is going well. Nice job on the workout! Hope you were able to go biking today.

Today I did LIS Upper Body Trisets for 64 minutes with 265 calories burned. My average heart rate was 113 and maximum heart rate was 157. I was thrilled to learn that we will not need to replace our HVAC systems after all. It turns out that we have a lifetime parts and labor warranty on the upstairs unit as a result of them replacing the coil in 2006. The work needed is all covered.

Diane Sue, nice job with CDORNER step and mobility workouts. I hope that you like the washer and dryer in your new home. You are getting very close to your moving day which must be exciting.

Judy, great job with the Peloton rides, arm exercises, and stretching. I really need to use my spin bike more. I used to do spinning often, but not so much lately.

Cathy, good job with STS Chest and Back. Those are my two favorite body parts to work.

Valerie, I’m glad that your outdoor and indoor projects are going well. That’s good feedback on your LG washer and dryer. I was hesitant to consider them when I was looking, but I will keep that in mind in the future.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Quick check in as I have to get lunch and we have a zoom class. I did upper body weights today. My grandson has the workout space in a mess. He wrapped my b-line handle onto the spin bike and pulled on it and let it snap back and broke the handle :( Now I am going to have to get new tubing. They don't have just handles on Amazon and I checked Beach Body and they do not just sell the handles and what they do have is a set that costs almost double with only 2 pieces of tubing to what a handle and 3 pieces cost at 47 dollars on Amazon. I may just buy some other brand of tubing.
I started a CDorner arm workout and switched to another as it was back and shoulder right off. So, I went to one that says 16 minute arms and is pretty much arms. Fitbit says 16 minutes, but I think that includes the other workout portion that I did. She does say you can repeat the moves on the 16 minute arm one. Workout was 16 minutes, 36 calories, heart rate 96/132, 323 steps which were partially taking care of things between the dog and my grandson.
First arm workout
w/up
bentover rows with pulses 15's(almost too much)
bench press 12's singles with a twist and 1 1/2s
loop band with arms in goal post position and pulling back squeezing upper backo_O(probably good but not with my issues)
dumbbell flys 10# dbs
she says repeat, but I stopped here

16 minute Arms upper Body workout everything 15/16 reps
twisting curls 16 reps 10# dbs(could have went heavier)
triceps kickbacks 12# dbs 16 reps
lateral and front raise alternating 5# dbs 16 reps
hammer curls 15# dbs 16 reps
Overhead triceps extension she uses 2 8's and I used 1 15# db 15 reps
overhead press(option front raise) 10# dbs 16 reps
biceps side curls 12# dbs 15 reps
lying triceps extension 12# dbs 15 reps
side lying rotation right 5# db 15 reps repeat on left
can repeat the sequence.

we are back from our ride 1 hr 35 min. ran into a huge road project half way thru the ride with them replacing a culvert. ditch was at least 50 feet deep, just huge! all loose mud, dirt and limbs. they stopped work and showed us where to cross over and even hefted one of our bikes up thru the mess. we try to avoid interfering with their work but no way to tell ahead until you ride up on it, and then there aren't many choices. we could have gone back the way we started but that was several miles. would have done that if needed. we are respectful and wait for them to pause work, thank them when we get thru the area. its a private company that allows the public to bike, walk, and ride horses on their roads and trails so we are guests there. mt bikes in general have a bad reputation. we will ride a different section until this is done. I cant believe the compacted mud on me and my bike! time to use that washing machine.

cathy that's why I mentioned the depth of the tub. my SIL would never be able to reach bottom. I don't like the smell issues with front loaders, and the length of the cycles plus some dont get clothes wet much less clean. before I bought, I read specific model reviews on both HD and Lowes websites and got really useful information. I bought a lot of appliances so it was worth research time. everything has worked well.
plumber is back fixing the second leak.
