Good morning,

I did go to agility class yesterday, only because I am entered in a trial next weekend in Erie, and I wanted to see if I could do anything. It was not too bad, but not great. Will continue icing and the meds.

Judy, wow, you guys are really doing some nice work on the condo. I like the paint color. I know the PlateMates are expensive, but they are worth it.

DianeSue, Happy Birthday! Glad you got the tablet reset. I hope you are able to recover all your contacts and recipes. You would think the dealership would know if a fuse could cause the seat issue. Have you spoken to them about it?

Valerie, wow, that is serious! Good that you went in to get it checked when you did. I never had heard of that before so I googled it. How do they diagnose that? bloodwork? I am surprised too that they use a sugar coating....like you could really taste it if you take it quickly with water. Do they think you are going to suck on it to dissolve it? LOL

Carolyn, good workout. Nice that you met your friend. It's funny how the school schedule is so different in different parts of the country. Kids get out here at the end of June, then start back after Labor Day.

Lori, hope it's fun & sun at the Cape!

Take care,

Good morning. Yes Deb it was serious. Pyelonephritis is treatable. I was close to septic. I am some better this morning, so probably caught in time. I will get the bacterial sensitivity back this morning so will see if the Cipro I'm taking will do the job. My chart is great! I can get direct message from doc without trying to connect by phone.
we used to be able to wave an antibiotic at these and treat, but bacteria are often resistant now, so takes a lot of drugs. I do NOT know why I had no symptoms. I had these infections as a kid, but no signs of a even a minor UTI. it is diagnosed with a urinalysis where they see ( pee in a cup) white blood cells, a few RBC's, bacteria etc. then they culture the sample and test it for resistance to antibiotics. I could do the UA myself in a seconds and next time, I will. coming from amazon as we speak.
when you show up at the ER with fever, chills, and feeling badly, they look you for obvious infections and if nothing else is present, UTI is likely. I had no sign of anything else.... what else could it be?? the bacteria take up residence in the bladder, work their way up to the kidneys where they can enter the blood stream causing sepsis. I was close. as we women( most of us) get older, we get atrophic vaginitis. allows bacteria easier entry into the urethra, sort of like back when we were immature kids. I will be more on the alert from now on. You can buy urine test strips ( $10) that give you a 30 second test to see if WBC's are present. I should have done this a week ago when I had the bladder spasms, but no UTI signs at all. anyway, all these antibiotics will set me up for potential C. diff. so I am not eating much ( no appetite) but am getting yogurt down.
This is probably a whole lot more than anyone wanted to hear. o_Oo_O sorry, but as "older women" menopause and onward, we are prone to these infections so good to know a little about them.

Deb I hope you get some relief from the steroids and can get back to normal.

I have no clue why a company would coat their pills in sweetener. ETA sucralose. I was not going to chew it! it is revoltingly sweet no matter how fast you toss it in and swallow.

Hello Ladies,
Today is a rest day, so no workout to report. Deb, it’s good that you were able to give agility training a trial run before the actual event. Hopefully the medication will have you feeling much better by then.

Valerie, I was not familiar with that type infection, so I appreciate the information. We are prone to so many issues as we age.

Diane Sue, I’m sure you are having a wonderful birthday celebration with your family.

Waves to Judy and Lori. Enjoy your day.

Good afternoon ladies!

No workout yesterday..it was our travel day back home. :(. I unpacked and that was pretty much it for the afternoon/evening. GiGi was so happy to see us.

Today I started 80 Day Obsession from Beach Body on Demand. First workout was Total Body Core. It was ok. Hoping they get a little more intense. I was easily able to go heavier than she does. I plan to mix it up a bit so I can get in other workouts. I then did a 25 min Jill Cooper bounce. In 2 weeks I will start Double Time in the evenings with my son’s girlfriend. They were over last night so we set the start date and we are looking forward to it.

Valerie...that is crazy with the sugar coating! Glad you are feeling better.

Deb...good you are starting with the steroid pack. This will help a great deal. How is your toe? Still on the mend? In MA school lets out the end of June but starts right before labor day. Used to be after labor day but that changed about 15 years ago. Growing up we always looked forward to labor day weekend. We considered it our last day of freedom.

Diane Sue...I love all the FT workouts! I pretty much automatically put ankle weights on with all lower and bouncing workouts. I like the extra burn I get by using them. I may complain while doing so though! Lol!! The toasted upper body live is one that I liked. You used some good weights. Looking at Kelly’s Raw I am going get them in while doing 80 day. Some of the 80 day are 60 mins. I may do 30 mins of 80 day, depending on how it challenges me, then do a raw or bounce that compliments it and mix it up here and there. This way I have my variety that I need. Great the tablet is reset. What a pain!

Judy...love the gray paint. We did our kitchen gray a couple years ago. We had pumpkin and wow the gray made a huge difference. Completely changed it. Watching the video of the barbell it amazed me all the different hand positions. Such variety.

Carolyn...the weather ended up being great. Couple days of rain. One was morning only and the other was most of the day but not all. The rest was sunny and warm. It was rainy at home all week. So we were very happy. Enjoy your rest day today.

Have a great night all!

Deb, I hope you are feeling much better soon. I know the pain has dragging on for some time now. I didn't say much to them when I took the Rover in for the leak. I just mentioned that I used a pillow because the seat was not moving. I did some research to get an idea of possibilities.

Valerie, all of those things that happen as we get older are not pleasant to say the least. Interesting information.

Lori, I like that Kelly's workouts are a nice length to use with other workouts. Also nice for when I am limited on time.

Carolyn, I thought I might work out this morning , but stayed up to late again working on setting my tablet back up and taking care of things. I keep having so many things coming up during the week days.

Good morning,

Still doing the ice and meds. It is feeling a little better. Actually, my toe is bothering me more than the hip!

Valerie, good thing you went when you did! So glad it is now under control.

Lori, I bet Gigi was over the top when she saw you. :). That sounds like a pretty aggressive workout schedule! What made you start the Beachbody rotation?

Diane Sue, how was the multiple birthday celebration?

Hi to Judy & Carolyn,

Take care,

Good morning. I think I got over the hump to recovery last night. I have on/off fevers since Friday. still no appetite. I ate a little, plain yogurt with some fruit. no thoughts of a workout. I might go grocery shopping today... running out of yogurt ... but I started out good in the morning yesterday and by evening was back to a 101 temp so I don't want to rush. I would not wish this on anyone. DH looked this up for me and it takes about 72 hours for the meds to work, and that would be late today so I'm on schedule or even a little ahead.
The doc I saw first said she had been thru this exact same thing twice already, and she was 50-ish. it is common with menopausal, post menopausal women. anatomical. Even young women are more prone to bladder infections than men for the obvious differences.... length of the urethra.

Lori I envy you with the rain. it is so dry here, there are forest fires all over. the wind is bringing smoke in. it is so sad to see august dismal, socked in, smoky. In recent memory, it was not like this. the last few years it has accelerated. the air is unhealthy for the next few days. worse than Beijing. ugh. luckily not tempted to do any outdoor exercise. maybe something indoor tomorrow. I want to be 24 hours without a temp before I do anything. right now walking around and up and down stairs is enough.

Judy you are going to love your new color scheme. its amazing how better colors update a place.

This morning I did Coffey Fit Raw Compound Moves, 40 minutes ( 31 minutes actual) , heart rate average 107, max 146, 250 calories. I then did Cathe Live Compound Giant Sets Light weights live, 47 minutes (44 actual) 271 calories, heart rate average 122, max 150. Total time was 87 minutes, 521 calories. I liked both workouts. Something in my settings or apps made My Fitness Pal automatically adjust my calories on Fit Bit. GenerallyI compare and adjust where needed. So, these are what MFP put up. Heart rates are correct. I will see how it comes out end of day.

Deb, I am glad it is feeling a little better. The birthday was fun . My daughter texted me the pictures they took and it is funny because two of us are preparing to blow the candles out on the cakes and one, my son in law has his hand over his son's mouth to stop him from blowing them out too. We had bbq burgers and hot dogs, salad and chips along with cake. Thankfully my daughter in law took the remaining cake and was sending it with a family member to work to share. Chips were pretty much gone too :)

Valerie that is great that you feel you may be over the hump. Grocery shopping sounds like something to get out of the way since you are not working out.

Today I did Step Moves. I only did part of it for 33 minutes and 220 calories burned. My average heart rate was 129 and maximum heart rate was 153. I had planned to add a segment of Core Max, but I wasn’t feeling it today.

Deb, glad that you are starting to feel better.

Diane Sue nice job with the Coffeyfit and Cathe Live strength workouts. I’m glad that you had a nice birthday celebration. It good to get the leftovers out of the house. I wanted to try a new cake recipe this weekend but there are no other family members around to eat the results. I used to take my recipe samples to work after I tried them.

Valerie, I’m glad that you are starting to feel better. That sounds like a nasty infection.

Lori, welcome back from vacation.

Hello to Judy.

The afternoon took up a lot of time. I left home at 2:00, waited in a line of cars for granddaughter and was surprised getting there 35 minutes early and they already had two huge lines that had to merge into one. Then left for the primary school and that was terrible planning. Cars were lined up a main street blocking cars. People that wanted to drive through , had to work to get around the line of cars and drive in the lane coming the other way. The only thing is, students and parents from the high school were coming from the other way. I told my husband I wondered what they do if the police or fire department needs to get out since they are on that street. There City Council is always at odds with each other and things do not get done well. I had to drive out of the way because one road was blocked which was pretty annoying and another one has lit up signs saying road closed the 22. Fortunately that won't affect me tomorrow. I had to get gas and took the children to Sprouts with me for a couple of things and it was 4:30 by the time I got home. Left me with a headache.

Carolyn, I do that too with recipes that I want to try , but don't want the whole thing sitting here for my husband and I to eat.

Good morning,

No workout. I didn;t go to class last night because my toe was killing me. I don't remember how long these take to heal. You think I would with how many I have had in the past. I am really pi**ed at MFP...once again my newsfeed won't load.

Valerie, glad you are on the mend! I have had bladder infections before, but never heard of what you have. Good to know to watch for in the future.

Diane Sue, what did you think of Live Compound Giant Sets? I think that is a great "go to" workout. That picture sounds great. :). I hope that situation at the school with the traffic was a "one off" and not going to be a daily thing. Were you picking her up?

Carolyn, funny you mentioned it, I have wanted to try this ricotta/raspberry cake too, but I know that John and I would eat the whole thing, and that is not good. I keep waiting for a get together where I can bring it, and then leave it there! LOL.

Hi to Judy & Lori,

Take care,

Today I have so many things that I need to get done before I leave to pick up grandchildren from school at 2. I need to hit Sprouts as I forgot a couple of things yesterday. If I take the children it takes longer and I come back with extra things. I hate when I forget things!
I did Cathe Live Advanced Step Choreography again, 50 minutes, 320 calories, heart rate 148 average, 174 max, 4,315 steps. For me this one is pretty easy to follow since I have been doing Cathe Step for years. I like that she gets off the step part of the time. I did go a little less impact for the power moves to be careful. I did not have a problem with it last time though. I am going to have to get some stretching in tomorrow when I don't have to go out. I can tell it has be a few days.

Deb, I am sorry the toe is taking so long to mend. MFP does some odd stuff. I keep trying to put my workouts in and unless I am really fast at getting the multiple workouts in it puts it on my feed more than once. Since my reset on my tablet it is picking up my calories etc. from Map My Fitness and heart rate from Fit Bit and is putting it in my Fit Bit dashboard automatically. I think I may be okay with that except like I have mentioned before weight work and yoga are often way different on Fit Bit and much less on the burn. The Compound Giant Sets yesterday kept my heart rate up even on the Fit Bit and the results between MMF and Fit Bit were not real far off. I really did like that workout. I think I skipped it the last time I had Cathe Live because I concentrated more on the newer workouts. I am glad that I tried it out.
Edited to add, I only have to take the children to school two days :) My daughter has open house tonight for her students and parents. I bought them home yesterday after all because when I got to the scool I could see the 4 year old was not going to allow her much time to get things done. He was great for me at the store though. It brings back memories of all of the driving and hours I spent sitting in the car when I had all of the older ones and 3 different schools and going back and forth from one city to another. Timing was always an issue and often I would take my bills to do or and paperwork needing done in the car with me or a knitting or crocheting project.

Deb "pyelo", as it is usually referred to, is a bladder infection that progresses to the kidneys. It can get into the bloodstream from the kidneys. at that point it is probably the hospital for IV antibiotics. I've had bladder infections before, long ago. it was like peeing fire or boiling battery acid . no way not to notice! this time nothing at all, and it was the usual.. common e coli bacteria that caused it.
I got a temp again yesterday afternoon after the fast walking at Costco. I got a good nights sleep and all good since then. I'll aim for a light weight workout later today. we have awful smoke air pollution right now and outdoor exercise is not recommended. just ugly out there.
I am not ready for cardio yet. got to respect the needed recovery time. Deb maybe you do too if your toe hurts that much. can you do work arounds with upper and core?

I don't make desserts often unless we are having guests. even then I cut it to half or a fourth. sometimes you need to make the entire cake due to ingredients or pan size. I cut it in half or a quarter after baking and freeze the extra. then complete the dessert with filling or frosting. usually easier to cut quantity of filling than the cake itself. DH will eat ANY dessert left uneaten, the whole damn thing gone in 60 seconds.
this won't work for everything.

Today I did a timesaver premix from Rockout Knockout. That was 43 minutes and 300 calories burned. My average heart rate was 130 and maximum heart rate was 160.

Deb, not doing cardio for a while is probably a good idea with your injuries. I agree with Valerie that upper body might be worth a try.

Diane Sue, school drop off and pick ups can take quite a while. I was often amazed by the lines. I learned to time my visits to schools to avoid getting caught in dismissal traffic. Great job with Live Advanced Step Choreography. It sounds like a good one.

Valerie, I hope the air pollution clears soon. I wish we could send some rain your way!

Hello to Lori and Judy.

Today I am trying to make coconut milk yogurt with the yogurt setting on my instant pot. This may be trial and error till I get what works since it is non-dairy. I forgot to mix a thickener into the hot coconut milk before it cooled down enough to set it for fermenting after sterilizing. So, the next option was if it was thin to use guar gum or xanthum gum.

Valerie, I often cut the left over desserts into smaller pieces and freeze in containers. Then I put them in the freezer in the garage. But, I would rather not have them there at all. Well, maybe cheesecake :) I have a german chocolate cheesecake recipe I would like to try, but keep holding off. My husband nor I need it. I have made some small ones with light cream cheese in my instant pot which came out well. I nibble small pieces and my husband eats most of it. I bought a 7 inch spring form pan just for that. My husband hasn't cared for my ground nut and almond flour crust. He likes the graham cracker crust. I try to avoid the cookie crusts.

Carolyn, timing between these two schools is not easy. I go plenty early so I am not left dealing with a main intersection. The first stop I am there earlier enough to get in the parking lot and not be out on the street. This puts me out on the busy street almost to the main intersection which they keep putting off putting a traffic signal on. That city hurts themselves buy curtailing businesses coming in and tax revenue. It is ignorant. It took so long and lots of dealing before they finally got a grocery store when we lived there. We had to go to Dollar General or head to Oklahoma City for most of the years we lived there. Now business is going in on the outskirts and Oklahoma City is reaping the rewards for the tax revenue. Nice job on Rock out knockout. That is one of my favorite Cathe Kickbox workouts.

Worked the plan..... did the warm up from TBM, then MM chest, then core 1. I was OK with that and will do something similar tomorrow. Deb, its not a cardio workout but it leaves your foot alone except for the planks in the core section and they are at the end and easy to skip. or you could hold that foot in the air. everything else was benign for foot issues. I'd guess kickbox punching drills would be fine too. the toe might be bothersome for a while so you will be happier if you come up with some work arounds.

Diane sue I have quite a few smaller pans so can adjust recipes to smaller quantities if I want. spring forms and tart pans and smaller pie dishes. If you calculate the volume of the pan recommended for a full recipe, it isn't hard to find a pan half recipe will fit. I use a longer narrower pan than the standard 9x5 pan for sweet breads. it is about 12 x 4. things bake a little faster ( 45 min rather than an hr) slices are smaller but can be thicker. overall it is a much better serving size. or I make sweet breads into muffins so DH can have a daily muffin without defrosting the entire bread. slicing and freezing has never worked well for me. one 9x5 pan recipe will make 12 standard muffins but bake them a little hotter, like 400, for 15 to 20 min. I do this regularly.
for two people, it is better smaller and fresher. most desserts are best the first day or at most the second. DH seems to see 3/4 of a cake as a challenge to rise up to. cheesecake was always one of the easiest things to cut the calories on. I vastly prefer the lightened versions. full fat cheesecake is like eating a bowling ball. I like fruity versions.

Good morning,

I went to an obedience class yesterday morning, that's it for me.

Diane Sue, were you able to get all your things done yesterday? Yes, MFP is pretty frustrating. The cynic in me keeps thinking that they have all this stuff done to people who get the free version, to make them want to switch over to the paid one. I know that is not true. Coconut milk yogurt sounds really good.

Valerie, it sounds like you are on the mend.... Hope your air is better soon. We did not notice it when we were there, maybe because we were in a different wind direction..

Carolyn, great job on "Rockout Knockout! Agree with you and Valerie, I should try some upper body/core work.

Hi to Judy & Lori

Take care,

Valerie, good idea with the breads. I just slice and package half for thevfreezer. Baked goods don't keep as long as some things. I double wrap them and it helps. Even purchased bread keeps better with extra wrapping. I keep bread in the freezer and only pull a few slices out on my husband's days off. I don't eat bread and it gets old fast. Better bread without chemicals mold faster. Something like wonder bread seems to hold up for weeks. I don't know what they do to that stuff.

Deb, I did get a lot done. Yesterday evening I took my 4 year old grandson outside thinking I was going to mow off the back yard that is almost a foot tall in places. I always cringe because of allergies and the grandson I get to do it started a new job and college. The electric mower did 1 path and quit. :( I spent so much time trying to make it work and ended up having a sneezing , drippy coughing mess. I told my husband I was tempted to take hedge trimmers out and cut it.
The do c out yogurt is good. A bit sweeter than other plain yogurt and not as tart. I had to ad a bit of gua gum. I think I need to get a starter and I did not add a tsp of sugar like it said to do as the sugar helps the bacteria to get going. I thought since the carton of plain so delicious coconut milk yogurt had 8 grams in it I shouldn't need that. Next time I will do it and use honey. The bacteria eats the sugar to grow anyway.

Today I did ICE Chiseled Lower Body for 48 minutes and 305 calories burned. Average heart rate was 125 and maximum heart rate was 145. I’m never sure how to classify this type workout when I log it in to Fitbit since there is such a cardio factor involved. Would you call it metabolic, circuit...?

Deb, I’m glad that you felt like going to the obedience class. I don’t use MFP, but I feel the same way about some free apps. They want you to buy the full version.

Valerie, my husband also feels the need to eat the entire dessert as quickly as possible. I usually freeze baked goods in individual portions to get them out of sight. Nice job with your upper body and core workout.

Diane Sue, the coconut milk yogurt sounds like an interesting project. I don’t think I have the patience for homemade yogurt.

Hi to Judy and Lori. Have a wonderful day everyone.
