Hi,

Those that have the iPhone6....have you gotten this annoying thing off of your phone? It’s driving John nuts….just spontaneously starts playing music even when the phone is in sleep mode! He says he doesn’t have the app…but I bet there is something behind the scenes….

He has googled it, and has been on the phone with Apple support who “deny” ever having anything like this installed on the phone…..yeah right…

deb, I go back to the doc late today. I'm not expecting a 'cure". but want to know what it is, so I don't make it worse. It is only an issue hiking down hill, but that's half the hike usually. the steeper, the more uncomfortable. I laced my boots much tighter than usual and that was a help. a compression sleeve helps. I found a very think synthetic one that I can't feel at all, and it's under my sock. the drive is long but the only way to get there!

we rode yesterday and will again today. too warm for anything else. more later. I did core 1 and selected moves from xtrain ch,ba, sh, did 3 sets of 12 knee pushups without any discomfort. this is the test to be sure it doesn't feel sore. bi's and tris didn't get into the old sore spot.
My ankle has a fleshy bump I call the toadstool. it has been there since the sprain. I now have more fleshiness toward the ankle bone. mostly I'm not aware of it, but it gets sore walking downhill so I want o know what I have so at least I can not make it worse.

There was an iPhone update this week that corrected something to do with music. Did John install the update? If not, maybe that will help.

Hi Ladies,

Worked out with Karina yesterday and did Bodyatack this morning. We will be leaving for Palm Springs around 10 or 11. It is only a 2 hour ride.

Lori, thank you. I will definitely ask you for help once I start the 21 day fix. I have my grocery list ready.

Valerie, hope that you get good news today.

I better start packing :).

Have a great weekend everyone!

Josie

Hi everyone--

This morning I did All Out Low Impact Hiit with core 1 (49:22).

Super hot and humid today. I don't see how DH can work outside in this weather, but he seems to do fine. Pesto and tomatoes for dinner tonight. Perfect summer meal from the garden.

Deb, I don't have anything like that on my IPhone. Sounds very irritating, especially if it comes on when you are trying to sleep. Pigs are actually quite playful and depending on the breed, very friendly to humans. They like to have their ears scratched a lot.

Lori, you have your workers well-trained! Are you catching up at work after your vacation?

Judy, how did the AC, furnace project turn out?

Valerie, I see that you are once again having terribly hot weather for your outdoor rides and hikes. My sympathies! That must have been quite a sprain if you are still suffering from its effects years later. I would want to find out about what the problem is too.

Josie, have fun in Palm Springs!

The new Furnace/AC install went well. They also installed a new thermostat, humidifier and an air cleaner. We are really happy with the AC. It is much better than our old one. I'm hoping the humidifier works well enough that I won't have to get out the room humidifiers this winter. The air cleaner has a very large filter that is supposed to last for at least 6 months.

Good evening ladies!

Again no workout at lunch. We had a huge heavy package day in the mail room and it took us just under 2 hours. We are usally done in less then 30 minutes so that tells you what a tough mailing this was. So needless to say we did not want to workout on top of this - we were exhausted. It has been a group effort at the office on package day. Makes it fun and time flies by. I did not even workout tonight. I did however take Chester for a nice walk and swim.

Deb...well that is annoying with John's phone. Hope you get that taking care of soon. I have had no problem with mine.

Judy...glad all went well with furnace/Ac. That is awesome that the air cleaner will last for 6 months.

Lynda...yes another hot and humid day today. Chester took a really really long swim. Can't blame him at all. I am so under at work. I have my annual conference coming up in about 4 weeks and so much to do! If you remember I am the meeting planner for our company (one of my many hats) so I plan everything for our conference. 200 people 3 days at the Portofino in Orlando. I even book all the flights and ground transportation! You need to be extremely organized. The only thing I do not do is the actual presentation..but I plan all the av equipment needed to present it. Yesterday and today I have been working on the hotel rooming list. Our managers share a room with another manager so when making the final rooming list I need to make sure personalities match. This is such a pain!! We are doing a casino night which will be fun...but planning it is not! Sorry I did not mean to go on. Just a very stressful day today. :)

Valerie..I really hope you get relief for the ankle soon. You and your DH are so active and I am sure this has got to be fustrating for you.

Josie...so now you need to explain Bodyattack. I have no idea what his is but I am sure I would love it! Have fun in Palm Springs.

Have a great night all! Hi to Dawn!

Good news! apparently it is only soft tissue irritation in my ankle.... no problems with anything structural. the "toadstool" is a small cyst but is not a problem, just close to the sore area but not related. I'm going to try the ankle brace I bought and some low hikers, glorified tennies, to see if I get better ankle support without the bulk of the ankle support with boots over the top of it. the ankle support can be laced tight and with shoes, being separate, it might work better for me. the ankle support layered under the boots was too many layers of material to feel effective. so shopping tomorrow! not a structural problem! even if it hurts it's not destruction of the a tendon or ligament or joint or something awful. I can live with that. I was so afraid I was destroying the joint or something! I am so relieved that even if it gets sore it's just an annoyance. it doesn't bother me at all except for downhill hiking but I was afraid I was doing real damage.

So many fires out here.... it really is awful. northern ID, eastern WA and OR, and CA. what a mess.

Lori, a day off is a good thing. you deserve one.

we stalled long enough on the new phone decision that Verizon has gone and changed everything, backing away from contracts. so I guess the phone itself will be more $$$$ but the contract will be less per month without a 2 yr time limit. we'll get to it after the dust settles. Deb, hope you got that straightened out.

Lynda, our next door neighbor used to have a couple cows. I always thought cows were pretty dumb but one of them would come over to the fence and one time I scratched his ears and his neck. it only took once... whenever he saw me he'd head right on over to the fence to get his "scratch". they both disappeared and I expect ended up in the freezer. Horses are like that too. some friendly and like contact, others not as much. Pigs I haven't met up with but I'd think they are similar. I've had unexpected things with deer too, including one fawn that loved to play with me by getting into our garden and then playing games with me. he must have crawled under the fence to get in ...not a big space... and then seemed to play tag with me before he'd leave. he acted like he crawled in so he could play chase and tag with me as I tried to get him out. we've had meetings with wild animals like big horn sheep, pronghorns, mountain goats, and deer that were unexpected in the "interaction" that seemed to happen. maybe my imagination went on overdrive but I felt a connection and it was wonderful. .

Good morning,

A contentious dog club meeting last night that lasted until 10:00....and a rough sleepless night followed...sometimes I wonder why I participate at the level I do.

Valerie, Good news on the ankle situation! If they removed the cyst, would it help? Love your descriptions of the various animals and how they react to humans. :)

Judy, glad the AC install etc went well. This is the time it's really needed! thanks again for the info.....he is reluctant to download any updates, especially if Apple Music is involved. If you Google it, people are really furious that they can't get rid of Apple Music, and after the "3 month free trial" especially....Apple wants this to be their version of Pandora...only they want to charge for it.

Josie, have a great trip!

Lynda, do you have the iPhone 6? Surprised you are not getting blasted with this horrible music!

Lori, wow, that conference planning is a tough job! It's hard to do it locally, but especially hard at a distance.

It's raining here, ( we need it badly!).....not sure what is up today....

Take care,

Deb, the cyst is not painful. I thought it was related, because it's barely an inch away. Not worth doing anything about, more cosmetic than anything. I'll work on protecting the sore ankle, try different boots and lacing system. such a relief that it's nothing to worry about, even if it gets sore. THAT I can live with. I got slightly sore from my workout yesterday, in all the right places. I feel very optimistic about getting back to normal now.

I could never get to sleep if I was at a meeting until 10. I don't disconnect from things like that very well. Maybe something like ambien would help you. it's not something to take all the time, but only nights you are pretty sure will be a problem.

Lori when I worked in sales we used to have to pair up in rooms. what a pain! nobody is ever happy. that is a tough job that no one will be happy about no matter what you do.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did AB (54:00), followed by some Housemax in anticipation of guests.

Deb, I do have an IPhone 6 but haven't had any bad experiences with unwanted music apps. Too bad you dog lovers can't get along. Did you ever see the movie Best in Show? Hilarious. Maybe you should screen that at one of your meetings.

Lori, I remember you going through the same stress-filled planning last year. I wonder if event planners are in constant anxiety. I am sure I would be.

Valerie, that is such good news about your ankle. When DH had cows and bred his own calves, he definitely had a relationship with each of them, and they also had a pecking order. One of the cows, Francine, would never let him touch her, but she loved stale bread (the other cows thought she was nuts), and DH would extend his hand and her tongue would stretch way out and curl around the bread. Mary was ornery and had horns to push the other cows around. Every year she would drop her calf in some impossible place and DH would have to find it and bring it into a calving shed with Mary right behind, not happy with him. Now he buys 6 month old calves to raise and it's a lot easier. No bull either to get old and nasty.

Glad your home project went through without a glitch, Judy!

Good evening ladies,

Again no workout at lunch. I needed to leave early to take Chester and Nilla to the Vet where we board them for a screening. We are putting Chester in Doggie Day care while he is there and they needed to make sure he would be social and enjoy the other dogs. For Nilla they just wanted to see how she would handle being in a small run. They both did great. They do have some concern about chester being in daycare for the entire day. His back legs are getting weaker and weaker and today it realy showed. They are concerned being out playing all day with the other dogs may be too much for him and would do better with just 1/2 day. This absolutely broke my heart! You can see how he wants to play but physically is unable too. Was very sad to see. :(.

Tonight I did SB Hiit Barre which was good but not as intense as what I would have liked so I took the Hiit part up a notch and then I really enjoyed it.

As far as the conference planning I really enjoy this aspect of my job. It's the new CEO that makes everything so stressful the past couple of years. He is such a jerk. In our meeting recap today we were talking about the Corporate Award which is a new award this year and he asked if he would be giving it out. We agreed yes and then he said and I quote "so this is where I talk about the little people". I just kept my head down and thought he really did not say this did he? Unbelievable.

Lynda...Best in Show is HILARIOUS! My DH and I have seen it so many times and will never get sick of it. Love all the actors in this. Your son is coming to visit correct?

Valerie...yes you got that right. The rooming list will never make everyone happy. Today I planned out all the menus. Came home and I was starving! Lol! Great to hear only soft tissue irritation. What a relief!!

Deb...omg that dog meeting sounds awful! I certainly can see why you did not sleep well. My DH and I have the 6 and we have not been bothered at all with that music and very happy to say this. Were you able to get rid of it?

Hi to Josie, Judy and Dawn!

Good morning,

A lazy day yesterday, it rained so no yard work, and I didn't get a workout in either...a "Slug Fest"....

Valerie, that is great that you are able to do those push ups, and a workout without the shoulder pain.

Lynda, Best In Show is a great movie, a classic for sure. :). There are a couple of people that are nothing more than "middle school bullies". They start all kinds of trouble, talk behind peoples backs etc. The board of directors has invited one of them to a "private meeting, and will be talking to her about either stopping the BS ( my term not theirs) or the board is considering kicking her out of the club. Can you imagine something like this? This is supposed to be a fun thing, and really??? I only want to train my dog and have fun. Love the descriptions of the cows and their individual personalities. :)

Lori, about Chester.. why would he have to "play" even 1/2 day? Can't they just let him out a couple of times a day for even 15 minutes? Could they put them together in a larger run so that they have each other when not out etc? Your new CEO sounds like one of the jerks on Mad Men! Yikes! I can't believe he said that. As for the Apple Music etc, there are some settings you can turn off....we did that and so far so good.....I am so glad when I travelled for work that they never suggested we have roommates. I would not have done it. It's bad enough that you have to travel and be away from home, you should be able to have some privacy after a long day of working.

Hi to Josie, Judy & Dawn,

What's everyone doing this weekend>

Mani-Pedi with my cousin this morning, then I should do some paperwork filing, tossing etc

Take care,

Hi everyone--

This morning I did the legs with contrast training (40:25), and finished housemax.

Deb, that is really kind of sad with adults behaving like classic bullies and mean girls. Reminds me of some of the crazy adult behavior in Big Little Lies. We will be having dinner with our son and his new girlfriend--serving DH's filets from grass fed beef, sweet corn from a local grower, and potatoes. Going out to dinner tomorrow night with them. I think they may want to go to the Clark art museum tomorrow--big Van Gogh and Whistler exhibition. The Clark has really been overrun with tourists this summer because of the popularity of this show. Not sure what we will do on Sunday. He may want to spend some time with his grandparents. He was their first grandchild so he is very close and has not seen his grandfather since the stroke.

Lori, your CEO sounds very full of himself. Ugh! It's so hard to see how quickly dogs seem to age. Max is still in his prime and runs around like a madman, but I dread when he can't do all of his 'farm business.' Is the screening some kind of annual checkup? Max gets an annual checkup, but this doesn't involve staying at the vet's.

Enjoy the weekend everyone!

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did STS Disc 7, Chest, Shoulders & Biceps. Today we finally got outside for a bike ride. We rode at Island Lake for about an hour. It was a good start and hopefully DH and I will keep this up through the fall. It was such a nice day out, perfect weather and we are both motivated to start biking outside regularly.

Lori-that is too bad about Chester. I know how bad that makes you feel :(
Your new CEO does sound like a jerk. I can't believe he said that about "the little people"

Deb-I agree, I wouldn't have liked having a roommate when I was travelling for work.
That is awful about the bullies in your dog club! Sounds like they need to be kicked out of the club.

Lynda-I've never seen Best in Show but it sounds so good that I'm going to order it from Amazon. I think DH and I will enjoy it.

Josie-Have a great trip!

Hi to Dawn,

Judy

this is going to be a depressing post.
aunt betty is not doing well. she isn't going back to assisted living, will be in a nursing home for the remainder of her time. she is having dementia type issues now, and is getting difficult to control. her son ( near here) is visiting her this weekend. I know they ( both sons) will not do anything to stretch this out. there really is no reason to. still, sad to see it end like this.
This is overall a difficult day. got a notification this morning that my friend from yoga, who I have not mentioned in a long time, passed on wed. so sad. she didn't even make it a year. I know her husband too. this is a very hard one. sometimes it feels like someone had a good life and it was "time" but... this is not one of those. she was a delightful caring person, I liked her a lot. I'm not sure how old she was, late 40's I am guessing. she was an ICU nurse.

We went mt biking this morning. I wanted to ride uphill hard after the bad news this morning. as we were reaching the tree farm, we saw a black bear with 2 little cubs on the road, dashing off into the trees. it was such a pleasant surprise....they were so cute.
Judy hope you and DH can keep it up. DH and I really like riding together. good physically and mentally to get out and enjoy it together. .

I know I've heard of Best in Show but not sure I ever saw it. I'll put it up on the queue. funny how some people can carry agendas into a dog club meeting.... someone always wants to stir the pot...

None of us liked roommates, but companies did it for a few reasons, one being that it would put a crimp in after hours fraternization, and it saved money. (we called it 'meeting mating") really though, it meant a lot less sleep for everyone because you never knew who you'd get stuck with, and back then smokers could end up with non smokers and that in itself was horrible. and of course a shared bathroom with someone you didn't know,. or someone who snored, the problems were endless. we were supposed to get single room status after 10 years seniority but it was routinely ignored for budget reasons. so Lori, do the best you can. eventually we were able to request rooming with someone in particular and that helped a lot.

Valerie-I am so sorry about your Aunt Betty and your friend from yoga. That is so sad and very hard to deal with both at the same time.

Good evening ladies!

Today was a rest day. Really busy and ok just to come home and have a glass of wine while typing this!

Valerie...I am so sorry to hear about your yoga friend. That is so young. Was it pancreatic cancer? For some reason I think this. And poor Aunt Betty. My prayers go out to you.

Deb...They are really worried about him hurting himself. We have really noticed this but were in denial. His hinds legs became weak practically overnight. We noticed a huge deterioration from this winter and he lost 10lbs when most dogs gained weight. My heart breaks. If you remember we were walking all over the place not to long ago then we needed to cut it down and now we go for really short walks and go a bit longer on the weekends so he can swim. When he is not in daycare we are paying the extra 5 dollars for them to take him out of his run to stretch and run a bit. They will do this 2 to 3 times $5 each time. So he will have some exercise in addition to the 1/2 day of daycare.

Judy...glad to hear your DH rode with you. Keeping my fingers crossed he will keep it up. Best in Show really is a silly movie. But we love it and I swear it gets funnier every time we watch it! You are doing so well with STS!!

Lynda...full of himself is an understatement! My DH has met him a couple of times because he likes to frequent my DH's restaurant. My DH always makes sure he has the best server and great experience and then he leaves a cheap tip all the time. Pisses my DH off. DH only does it for me because he is my Boss. My DH always takes $ out of his pocket to adeqautely tip the server. Pathetic! The screening was for daycare to make sure he socializes well with other dogs. Nilla was just to see how she would do in a little run.

Hi to Josie...Hi to Dawn...hope all is well!
