Traildoggie

Cathlete
I'll get us started. this is my day off. moving some furniture and having lunch with departing cousin. he and his wife are moving to AZ. temps are insane there right now so this is not something I'm able to understand.

Today is a semi-rest day. I did Jane Adams Gentle Yoga, Morning Energy practice for 18 minutes.

Valerie, thanks for starting the thread this week. Enjoy your time with your cousin.

Have a great day everyone.

I'm back. Apparently, everyone has decided that they should just travel as usual in Michigan, because it was really heavy traffic going north and even with all the toll booths open at the bridge it was the longest it has ever taken me to get across. But, the boys got moved in and within a short time they got emails saying that since there were still so many tests outstanding they would be online the first week. As of this morning they had 4400 of 7400 back with 22 positives, 13 of whom live on campus. Hopefully, they are getting people in quarantine quickly and doing contact tracing. The numbers in the quarantine rooms clearly include people awaiting test results because there are more people in rooms than there are positive cases.

Didn't end up climbing Sugarloaf because at 8 a.m. the parking lot was almost completely full and there is no way I could climb that with my mask on. I had the marshland trail all to myself in Munising though and there weren't a lot of people at the falls there yet. Took almost an hour to do the 7 mile drive through the Seney refuge. Lots of swans, some loons and a few other things. Did see a deer swimming across one section so that was cool. Not sure what possessed her, but she was moving along at a good speed. She was going away from me though so I while could see her when she got close to shore, I didn't see her get out of the water.

Had my workout done by 7:30 this morning. Did Fit Split Low Impact Cardio and Metabolic Conditioning and then after breakfast I did Stretch Max with the Ball.

I'm not going to try and go back through and comment on everything from the last few days, but kudos on all the great workouts and Lori, that's fantastic that you already have a house when you are ready to move. And WOW Monday is definitely crunch time. I hope the whole move goes smoothly and yes, the two of you being able to ride together is great! I have never liked following or being followed and the constant trying to drive safely while making sure you stay together. So, much better for you this way.

Today I did All Out Low Impact HiiT, Floor and Step cardio + Core 1. My time was 46 minutes with 301 calories burned. Average heart rate was 124 and maximum heart rate was 155. Yesterday I strained my forearm slightly while lifting a cast iron dutch oven, of all things. I was holding it with one hand will trying to empty the contents into a bowl and it put too much stress on the muscle. I decided to change my workout from upper body today to give that arm a rest.

Cathy, I’m glad that you had a safe and somewhat enjoyable trip. Great job with Fit Split Low Impact Cardio, Metabolic Conditioning, and Stretch Max.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Hello all!

Yesterday I did LIVE Push/ Pull Total Body, Heavy Weights, 43 minutes, 268 calories, and today I did LIVE Move It! 36 minutes 2736 calories. The new router system, with the app to not have my phone go to "sleep" did the trick!

Valerie, I hope they found the house(s) that were shooting intermittently and put a stop to it. One thing I like about using a GPS in an unfamiliar area, is if it is updated it can steer you away from construction that would delay for long times. You sound about your hiking areas posted on FB the way John does with his fishing creeks. :)

Carolyn, nice job on the workouts. Thanks for the info on Athletic Training....another one forgotten here too.

Lori, I hope all goes well with the truck today! Have a safe trip! Good that you and Bob decided to drive together. I do remember that you had panic attacks while driving....I would have been terrified too. That is great news about your in-laws house etc!

Diane Sue, Nice job on the workouts this week. I need to go and see Kelly's new DVD's. Does she even update her web site any longer or is it all on FB?

Cathy, good job on the workouts....I agree....all roads and highways are busy as usual. I hope all goes well with the testing and quarantines at the college.

Hi to Judy,

Take care,

Today I did Kelly Coffey's new dvd Box Fit workout #3 special which is both workouts alternating boxing with body parts till it gets to the floor for chest and abs and she does two boxing segments then finishes on the floor. I will be back later to do more than skim posts.

Deb, Kelly does update her website periodically. She has worksheets and rotations on her website for the raw channel as well as newer ones. Also there is usually a brief link to something on Twitter on her website. Nice work on Live Move it and Push Pull.

Carolyn, I hope your arm is okay. It is always amazing how we manage to do things like that to ourselves.

Cathy, nice work on the Fit Split Low impact and metabolic workout. I cannot imagine climbing with a mask on.

caroline its like the mountaineer who climbs difficult peaks, and then goes home and trips over the sleeping dog and breaks a leg! even the small stuff can bite us.

I did chiseled upper body and core 1 today.

yes, here most of the roads are back up to normal busy. I don't think the morning and evening commutes are as bad with many people working from home , but general traffic is back to normal.
good visit with cousin and wife. we might see them once more before they leave. depends on when our road gets paved here. we might get done later tomorrow but maybe not til wed. we think we will need to get a load of gravel to fill in the edge between the road surface and our driveway. for several reasons, we cannot get our driveway asphalted, so there is an increasing ridge between the two surfaces.

deb we have gone from trails being a little too busy to being completely out of control insane. we do most in off season and weekdays. we haven't hiked on a weekend in years. we have only a few places we can go anymore especially in summer. all the people off work are going hiking. or in john's case.... fishing. its depressing. even the young people are starting to complain about the numbers and crowds.

the shooters have been quiet for a few days. what they do is probably legal since we don't have any HOA rules prohibiting it. we are out in the county, not in a city, so unfortunately people can do a lot of things that are unsafe, unwise, and un-neighborly. gun regulations are notoriously difficult to interpret. Im not giving up but I may not be able to get much done.

Today I did ICE Chiseled Lower Body Blast for 49 minutes and 302 calories burned. My average heart rate was 121 and maximum heart rate was 148.

Deb, great job with Live Push/Pull Total Body. I’m glad that your new router is working well. It’s so frustrating to have video freeze when you are trying to work out.

Diane Sue, Kelly’s new workouts sound like good ones. My arm is feeling better. It’s the same arm that I have been careful of for months. It’s the muscle that runs along the side of the forearm to the wrist. I’ve been going lighter with bicep curls to avoid aggravating it. Lifting the cast iron dutch oven was a thoughtless move.

Valerie, Chiseled Upper Body is what I had planned to do yesterday. Maybe later in the week. Definitely the small stuff bringing me down :).

Hello to all and have a great day.

We did our trail ride this morning early, 15 miles in an hour. very fast for us since we need to stop for a few road crossings and slow down when passing people. our road is getting done today so w i5t was good we went early or we could have been unable to drive the last half mile to get home. watching the asphalt process right now. carolyn I modify the windmills. incredibly awkward position for me. Ive gotten much stronger on the bear crawl walk out push ups. for an upper body workout, this one sure involves core muscles.

Im going to chat with our HOA person about the shooting regs for the county. Im sure the shooter is not shooting anything but target practicing. why this happens when its darj outside is mystifying. it might be in violation of noise but he stops usually by 10 pm. since there are homes on all sides, I have no idea why people closer to this property have not complained. maybe they have and I don't know.

Yesterday I did RWH Low Impact Hiit One and the Bonus Abs. Then today I did RWH Lift it Hit It Chest, Triceps and Shoulders. First time doing it, and heavy upper body is not my favorite thing. What is the saying about what you hate the most is what you need the most. I'm sure that applies here! I generally am much closer to Cathe's weights in workouts than I was on that one for sure.

Got to go sit at the dealership while they did an oil change and tire rotation. Fortunately, they got it right in and it didn't take all that long. Back pre quarantine they would be super busy, clearly overbook and it would take forever. Just glad it's done and with few long distance places to go maybe I'll get another 5-6 months before the next one.

Carolyn you've gotten in a couple great workouts the last couple days.

Judy great workout. Happy to hear you solved your router issue.

Diane Sue you got another excellent workout in.

Valerie great pace on your ride today! And yeah there probably isn't much you can do about the shooting. Around here unless someone is too close to your property line they aren't doing anything "wrong."

My workout is done. I did Raw All About Glutes which took me 53 minutes because I wrote things down and I had to change shoes because somehow I had stepped in some of my dogs leavings when I went in the back yard and it came off on my step  Weird because her new vet diet dog food left it where I can't smell much of anything. It has cellulose in it. So, I had to do clean up and switch shoes. Yuk!! Workout was actually 40 minutes, heart rate 91/125, 433 steps. I then did Kelly's Super Sculpt premix step and bands, 30 minutes, 168 calories, heart rate 133/158, 2,839 steps. This one alternated the band movements with step combos. The band movements keep up the heart rate. I probably did not need more band work though.
Total time was 83 minutes, 258 calories, 3,272 steps.

All About Glutes 39:16 minutes kelly uses 20# dumbbells, 33 # barbell, a loop band, and a foam roller
The moves are al 45 seconds work with 10 seconds rest done twice Moves are not fast paced and I think I could go heavier. I used a 35# barbell, 20 # dumbbell, and heavy loop, bench
warm up squat pulses/knee pulls/side linges/straight leg kick
Barbell squat to touch to floor with bar 12 reps/11 reps
bulgarian split squat 20# dumbbell holding in goblet postition ( I used a 20# k bell as it was easier than the Bowflex to hang on to in front) all right 12 reps then all left 12 reps repeat
frog legs lying prone on bench 20 reps repeat second set I got 16 reps as I was moving too fast
barbell on back squats 10 reps/10 reps
foam roller ( can use barbell or bench) for placing feet on bridges
Loop Band clam 26 reps right then 26 left repeat did 18 secont time
butt blaster loop band 18 reps right 18 reps left repeat
bridge adductions loop band 18 reps 2 times
1 set bridge pulses with adductors
get rid of loop band
no weight 1 leg bridge figure 4 positions left then right repeat 20 reps second set had pulses added
Barbell superset
squats to floor with barbell
squats with barbell on back(shoulders)
repeat
cooldown stretch

Valerie, my daughter has a bit of problem with the slope of her driveway and the edge of the paved road. My Aunt hit bottom with her RV pulling her car when she left there. She had problems with it before. When she left the last time, she drove her car out to the main road to hook up to the RV, but her RV still hit and something came off the hitch. She got it hooked back up, but still had problems with her back up lights. Then she left and I found a wire that had come off still lying on the ground.
Around here they sure take their time when they are paving roads and repaving. They set up blocks for the lane they are working on and it seems they are rarely there actually working on it. Right now they have several areas where we are that has the cones out and signs up, but no one working. I think though that they are blocking a lane to work on pudding in sidewalks. It just seems a huge waste of money to be adding to sidewalks right now.

Carolyn, nice work on Ice Lower Body Blast. I hope the arm is doing better. For me there is a nerve that runs from the front of my shoulder down my arm that will start hurting. I find it hard once I aggravate it to get it to stop hurting. I do all of the stretches and exercises from PT in the mornings.

Cathe, good for you getting RWH chest, shoulders, and triceps. The car wash near us has enough space for just a few people to be inside since they moved half the chairs. They have people stand outside. I saw one of the tire places had people sitting in front with outdoors.

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I took Chris for his colonoscopy. Everything went well. He just had one small polyp. Today I did ICE Metabolic Total Body and Yin Yoga.

Deb-Great job with LIVE Push/ Pull Total Body and Move It! Those are really good ones.

Carolyn-Nice job with ICE Chiseled Lower Body Blast. I will be doing that one this week too. I hope your arm feels better.

Valerie-Nice ride today! I'm sorry you have to deal with that neighbor shooting. That's crazy!

Diane Sue-I was looking at All About Glutes too. It looks like another good one. Great workouts this week!

Cathy-You did a great job with the RWH workouts! I need to revisit that series this year.

Lori-Good luck with your move! It's good that you and Bob are driving together.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did LIVe Burn Sets Biceps & Triceps 38 minutes, 144 calories, and 10, 554 steps, today I did Live Burn Sets Legs, Express, Heavy Weights, 35 minutes, 171 calories.

Diane Sue, nice job on the new KCM workout! That's great that she has work sheets for her Live workouts as well as rotations. I wish Cathe would do something like that. I don;t like to keep stopping in the middle of a streaming session to write down weights etc. Ugh on the "leavings on the step" issue. Stuff like that happens here too.

Valerie, whereabouts are your cousins moving to in Arizona? I really liked the couple of times I went there for work. We were in Tucson. Nice weather. not humid at all. If the shooters are target practicing on their own property, I guess it is legal. Like you mentioned, the only thing they may be doing illegally would be doing it after a certain hour.

Carolyn, good job on ICE Chiseled Lower Body Blast. Glad your arm is feeling better.

Cathy, good job on the workouts. Agree on "the saying about what you hate the most is what you need the most"...mine would be abs/core work.

Judy, good job with ICE and Yin Yoga. Glad all went well with Chris' colonoscopy. I bet he was glad it is over with.

Stay safe!

They are moving to Phx . weve seen pics. a high rise in a group of high rises. I would not pick this even as a hotel but I'm not the one moving. it is ghastly looking...to me! I enjoy AZ in the winter but I don't understand moving someplace so ungodly hot for so many months of the year. would not want to live in a sealed off glass tower! for the money they spent it would have been easy to buy a separate house in a planned community with all kinds of amenities. but to each his own.

my issue is shooting even your own property ... the noise does not stop at your property line nor do the bullets. there are houses on all sides of them. we are 4 or 5 houses away. and it is LOUD.

our road got paved yesterday, and today they are finishing it up. we will get a little gravel to fill the edge between asphalt and gravel. its not that big a bump. this is a private company doing our whole development. they were efficient and did a good job. no complaints.

offf to do a mt bike ride.

Today I did Jessica Smith’s WS3 Cardio Hit. That was 31 minutes and 209 calories burned. Average heart rate was 125 and maximum heart rate was 148. I also did The Ultimate Yogi Yoga Foundations, sequence 2. That was 54 minutes and 78 calories burned. I haven’t done the Yoga Foundations in several years, but was a really good yoga practice. Travis Eliot did these in preparation for his Ultimate Yogi series. It moves slower with an emphasis on proper form and breathing.

Cathy, nice job with the RWH workouts. I like that chest/triceps/shoulders, but I enjoy heavy weight work most times. I do try to balance it with other types of strength workouts.

Diane Sue, great job with Raw All About Glutes and Super Sculpt step and bands.

Judy, great job with ICE Metabolic Total Body and Yin Yoga. I’m sure that your husband is glad to have the colonoscopy done. Did you ever try the Ultimate Yogi Yoga Foundations? I’m glad that I decided to revisit it.

Deb, great job with the Live Burn Sets. It sounds like your streaming problems are solved and you can focus on the workouts again.

Valerie, I don’t envy your cousin moving to Phoenix. The last time I was there the temperature was 114!

Have a wonderful afternoon everyone.

Back from a decent ride. nothing technical but it was uphill solid for 2 hrs 15 minutes. need to look at mileage but about 14 miles RT. a few flat sections but mostly a bit of a grunt. ate lunch in the shade. nice flowers, good mountain views of mt baker and mt shuksan. then downhill. we stop briefly multiple times going down because hands cramp from constant braking and they start squeaking ( the brakes not my hands.) . hiking trails are so crowded , this is a less populated way to be in the mountains.

I love Metabolic total body. I don't love colonoscopies! better than the alternative though.

they are leaving for Phoenix soon and will get there early september. I was there once for a wedding when it was 116 degrees. not much different from 114. too hot for anything. nice in winter but wowie, those temps are not for me. I hope they like it. they are coming to visit us here tomorrow, and then its goodbye for a while. we will miss them and hope they are happy with their choice. they are driving thru California which is not so great either right now. hot and smoky. a lot of people in AZ do a sort of reverse snowbird and migrate to other places when PHX is hot in summer.

We made it to Woodbridge, VA. GiGi did awesome!!! We could have driven longer but we did not want to push her, so we decided to check into an Extended Stay by Marriott. They welcome pets and she is loving it!!! Hoping to get to Florida tomorrow evening.

No workout for me today. I made an early trip to the grocery store instead. It was time to restock the produce.

Lori, that’s great that Gigi had a successful first leg of the trip.

Waving a big hello to everyone. Have a wonderful day.

No workout today as I was shopping and am going on 3 hours sleep. Couldn't fall asleep and then got woken up around 4:30. Ugh

Yesterday I did Fit Split Boxing Bootcamp and Legs and Glutes. I really liked this one. Especially the boxing portion.

Lori glad to hear the trip is going well!

Carolyn great job on the workout. My shopping is a lot faster now with half of the household off to college. Cut at least 1 1/2 hours off from start to finish. Finish being-produce washed and put away. I've also discovered that they were responsible for over 1/2 the dirty dishes, though they are good about rinsing them.

Judy glad the colonoscopy went well. Thumbs up on the workouts.

Valerie yesterdays ride sounds tough, but well compensated with good scenery. I can't imagine living where it's hot either. This summer has been really nice here. Below 70 at night, and mostly slow to warm up, so we've used the air a lot less. I'm not a fan of air, but at a certain point even a breeze coming in isn't enough.

Deb nice job with the LIVE workouts.

Diane Sue that is definitely not a reason you ever want to have to interrupt a workout, and it sounds like a really good one. The only time I've ever seen a car wash the you didn't drive through yourself was when I was at my sisters in Florida. I'd never even heard of such a thing. All the ones here you just stay in your car and it moves you along.
