Good morning!

A nice day yesterday, cut, color, wax and pedi....I spoiled myself and did NOTHING. Then we went out for Chinese food dinner, which was delicious.

Back to reality, need to get a workout in and then it's HouseMax. I am going to pay for the lazy day yesterday, but it was worth it. John is fishing, so I will get a lot done.

Judy, I heard that PaintMax is a great total body workout!

Valerie, same with WoodMax! Where are you headed off to?

Hi to Josie, Garance, and Lori,

Enjoy the rest of the weekend! :D

Good morning ladies!

Beautiful here down the Cape! Traffic was horrible yesterday. What should have taking us 2 1/2 hours took 4 1/2!!! Several accidents. we were very happy to finally arrive unpack and relax. In the evening I did manage to do T25 speed and then we went swimming for about 30 mins.

Today we are spending the day with friends and going out on their boat. Will be fun! This morning I am planning to do Travel Fit.

Deb...Chinese food is so good. I can never resist. Everyone deserves a day of spoil my self now and then.

Judy...I have a pair of rykas and I love them. I have transpires and use for all my high impact. Good sneakers make a world of difference.

Hi to Valerie, Josie and Garance!

Good Morning!

Deb-you are sure right about PaintMax! What a workout this has been for DH and I. We really underestimated the amount of work and time this project would take. DH thought we could get it done in 2 days, but we could see by 7 pm yesterday that we weren't going to be able to finish. We were sore and exhausted so we came home to rest and are getting ready to go back today to finish. I am so happy that we got this done, as the deck looked terrible before. It had not been maintained and the boards were discolored and rotting. Also, FIL had been storing junk on it, which we took to the recycle center a few weeks ago. I am looking forward to getting back to normal with my workouts this week and I made DH promise not to take on painting the exterior of FIL's house. We can hire a contractor to do that. I think he learned his lesson after this project. I have attached a before and after photo of the deck.

It sound like you had a fun day yesterday! It's good to spoil yourself once in a while!

Lori-have fun on the boat!

Hi to Lynda, Valerie & Josie!

Hi Ladies,

My grand kids left yesterday and my house feels so empty and I miss them already :(. Today is grocery shopping and will probably go get a pedi-mani after.

My DH and I are going to Vegas next Friday through Monday to celebrate my 57th B'Day. We are staying at The Golden Nugget. I love playing there!

Judy, the deck looks great!

Lori, I hate getting stuck in traffick. That is why we stay in Vegas through Monday to avoid the Sunday traffick.

Hi to Deb, Garance and Valerie!

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Turbo Barre Express (52 min.), and last night I took Max for a walk after dinner.

Lori, I've heard horror stories about getting to the Cape, and I am very accustomed to stalling on the Garden State Expressway when we go to the Jersey Shore. I think it's just typical of travel to the shore. I hope you have great weather like I did.

Judy, what an improvement! What does your FIL think?

Deb, if you love Chinese food, there's a great cookbook--Mrs. Chang's Szechuan cookbook. I've had it for years, and it's falling apart, but I see that Amazon is still selling it in a new edition because it's sooo good. Nothing like a pamper day to lift one's spirits!

Josie, The Conjuring is really well done and should scare your pants off. I went to see it yesterday afternoon after Housemax.

Hi to Valerie!

Judy we just did our deck 6 weeks ago so I know how much work it is. we have a huge deck, built just before the newer synthetic products became widely used. cleaning and re-staining is a huge PITA. definitely get a contractor for the outdoor painting. ... an AWFUL job. all the prep work alone is worth paying someone else. we do indoor painting but outdoor is too complicated and the ladders we'd need to buy would cost a fortune.

yesterday we finished wood max. we loaded the dry wood we'd split and stacked back in spring into the truck and carried it uphill. then took it all out. then restacked it. repeat. repeat. repeat. many truckloads. nothing heavy but a lot of wood and we had to move each piece about 3 times. we're done and have enough wood for at least another year or two already split and waiting.

we're heading toward the Olympic peninsula for a couple days. taking road bikes, kayak, and hiking boots and we'll see what works best for us. we mt biked there last year and that was fun . we heard there is a long road/trail for road bikes mostly separate from traffic that goes along with water/forest areas so we'll check it out. back Thursday. have a good week everyone!

Hi Deb, Lori, Lynda, Valerie & Josie,

Josie-Thanks! Hope you have a wonderful birthday and a great time in Vegas!

Lynda-FIL seems pretty happy with his "new" deck. His neighbors have been stopping by and complimenting it. I don't know how much use he will get out of it, but I know the neighbors are very happy, as it was quite an eyesore before.

Valerie-It was a huge job, and I am so happy it is done! DH is very happy to be done too. We still have a few more minor outdoor projects to do at FIL's house but they won't be much trouble. Definitely will be hiring contractors to paint.

Hi to Deb & Lori!

Good morning and

Monday...ugh..

Nice weekend though, pamper me day Saturday, and HouseMax yesterday while John went fishing. He did yard work all day Saturday while I was pampering, so I cleaned while he went fishing...his form of pampering!

I just did STS disk 5, only did the first 33 minutes though..I have decided that I will do STS workouts, but allow myself to do as much as I want, and if 60 minutes is too much, I can quit early...gets rid of the dread factor for me.

Lori, we have not been to the Cape in 20 years...went to Provincetown in September when the crowds were gone and loved it. We stayed at a nice B&B, rented bikes and rode all around...it was a great trip, but hated the drive! It was a long way from western NY to PT.

Judy, the deck looks like new! great job! I can see how that is a lot of work.

Josie, Happy Birthday! have fun!

Garance, is that Mrs. Chang related to P.F.? LOL....

Valerie, when do you leave? have a safe and fun trip! We leave for California Thursday.

Work, dog class that now starts at 8:45 ...we must be nuts!
Have a great day!

Good morning ladies!

Did travel fit yesterday as planned. Then met friends for lunch and they took us to this wonderful place that had the most incredible lobster rolls! Unbelievable the meat. Nice to know people that live here as they know all the great places. After lunch it was on their boat. So much fun and a beautiful day for it.

Deb...only doing 30 mins of a workout especially STS is still a great workout! Good that you doing this and smart. There have been times that the dread factor really will make me not want to workout at all. Knowingly cutting the time a head of time will make it more enticing to actually do it!

Happy Birthday Josie!!! Have fun in Vegas. I have never been. One of these days.

Garance...same with the jersey shore...one of these days I'll make it there too!

Judy...the deck looks great. I can see why the neighbors are happy!

Valerie..have fun! Sounds like a great time.

Today going to the gym with one of our friends. I have never workout out in a gym (if you can believe that) so this will be fun for me. Then out to lunch then chilling for the rest of the day.

Have a great day!!!

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did KCM's Cardio Quick Fix, both workouts (44:39) and yesterday I took Max for a walk after dinner.

I made an appointment with my orthopedic surgeon about my left shoulder. I did something to it during STS, and it's been bothering me a lot. I hope nothing is torn, and maybe it's a spell of bursitis.

Deb, I think it's great that you decide how long to workout and the workout doesn't become a tyranny. As KCM says, "I'm not your boss." No, I don't think Mrs. Chang is related to P.F. Chang. I wish, though, that she had a chain of restaurants. Her twice-cooked pork and ants climbing the tree recipes are really good. DH loves her ground pork and noodles. She has a really good recipe for spicy shrimp, too.

Lori, my favorite food is most definitely lobster. I have a feeling I wouldn't like going out on a boat, though. I get seasick easily. I've never been to Vegas either and I don't really know how to gamble. Josie will probably come back with a small fortune, like she usually does.

Judy, maybe the refurbished deck will create some social interaction for FIL with his neighbors.

Have fun, Valerie! Sounds like another physically challenging outing.

Hi to Josie!

Good evening ladies,

DH is snoozing. Apparently he had a tough day at the beach!! ;). I am relaxing on the deck listening to Santana while drinking a margarita. awwwwhhh vacation.

Loved the gym! But still did my same old same old. Kind of funny how we stick with things that are familiar. Ran on the TM for 30 mins. Saw they had a heavy bag. Checked my phone and had Cathe's MMA heavy bag workout on it so I went to town. It was great. Really enjoyed the environment but not enough to give up my home workouts.

Garance...I get motion sickness real easily and was prepared with my meclyzine (sp?). Never needed it. The water was calm and it was a beautiful day. Lobster is a favorite of mine and this lobster roll was unbelievable. We picked up the tab for the four of us and the bill with tip was about $130. Least we can do since being invited on their boat. I can only imagine what it cost to fuel it. You pay for all the meat of course and certainly pricey for for lunch but omg still thinking about it and want to go again before we leave!

I am so sorry to hear of your shoulder and hoping all is ok and whatever it is it is minor.

Have a great night!!!

Good morning,

I did not get to sleep until after 1:00 am....so tired. It will be a long day, but at least I am off tomorrow.

Lori, nice vacation, I will be doing Travel Fit along with you on vacation in a few days. It is nice to go somewhere that there are people who know all the good places to go. ".. listening to Santana while drinking a margarita"....*sigh* that sounds wonderful...BIL e-mailed John and said to make sure we bring swimming stuff...they have a lovely yard with a pool. I know where I'll be spending a lot of time, with a book and a cup of coffee.

Garance, I have to know...what is the "ants climbing the tree" recipe? LOL...what a name..

Hi Josie & Judy,

Work, then home to pack the dogs, we take them to our friend's tomorrow where they will stay while we are gone.

Take care,

will check in later...

Good Morning,

I'm trying to get back to normal with workouts this week. Yesterday I did a longer Spinerval, then in the evening I did Xtrain CBS and Medicine Ball Abs. Here's what the data looks like from my new bike, for any data geeks who are interested :) :

TrainingPeaks | Public Activity Viewer

I'm starting up the 30 day Xtrain strength only rotation, and will be doing Spinervals or run/walking for cardio. After that I will take a week off and then start an STS rotation.

Lynda-I'm sorry about your shoulder, I hope it's nothing serious.

When we were at FIL's on Saturday I noticed he does interact with his neighbors more than I thought. He has a 4-wheeled walker that he uses to walk up and down his street. He can't stand or walk very long, and the walker he has can also be used as a seat so he can stop every few feet and rest.

Valerie-that sounds like an awesome trip! Have fun!

Deb-I love the idea of adjusting the STS workouts! I may copy that idea. I do that with some of my Spinervals too.

Lori-I'm glad you liked the gym! My first gym membership was in 1984  at the Y. from then on, I always belonged to a gym. I never worked out at home until moving to Michigan. I still have a membership at Fitness 19, but I have to admit I've gotten spoiled by home workouts. I would love to belong to Cathe's gym in New Jersey. I would probably be there every day!

Hi to Josie!

Judy

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did ch, ba, and sh from XTrain (51:16). I used lighter weights on my left side in order to avoid shoulder pain. Hope I get some painkillers when I see the doctor on Thursday. Ibuprofen works for a little while, and I'm afraid to take too many of them.

Ants climbing a tree is a very common Szechuan dish with ground pork on bean thread noodles. The name comes from the visual appearance of the tiny pork bits on the noodles. If you have never had it, it is really tasty. The Szechuan peppercorns have a very distinctive hotness to them--a little numbing to the tongue--and are very fragrant.

Pouring rain today. Hope it's not like this at the Cape, Lori! That does sound a bit pricey for lobster rolls, but if they are packed with lobster chunks, definitely not. I would go back in a New York minute for more!

Went to see 2 Guns last night. Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg. Pretty good with a complicated plot involving the DEA, the CIA, the Army, and a Mexican drug cartel.

Hi Ladies,

I did chest and back from P90x and went and got a mani-pedi :). Today I will be doing abs only. I went to see the Orthopedic Dr. and I will have to use the boot for another 3 week. He said that is heeling nicely an I will be able to start spinning at that time. Yay!!

Garance, we are going to go see The Conjuring tomorrow. It seems that once one of us gets injured another one of us follows. What is going on with that?

Judy, your new rotation sounds great!

Deb, I could not sleep last night either. I kept tossing and turning :(

Lori, I belong to Gold's gym in Venice California. I love their spinning and boot camp classes and once my Dr. clears me I will be returning to them to start training for the AIDS life cycle next year.

Valerie, hope that you are having a great time on your vacation.

Have a great evening everyone!

Josie

Hey all.

I am off today to get the dogs to the "sitter's" and get us ready....sometimes you have to wonder if it's worth it. Lots of work stress going on too, and it makes me uneasy leaving stuff behind...Ahhhh..retirement cannot come soon enough...damn healthcare...this is when I wish I was 65. I can't believe I "said" that!

Judy, I have a lifetime membership to a gym, no payment etc, but I have not been there in about 20 years! I love working out at home, so much faster, no travel time, and with 30 -45 minute workouts, I don't feel is it really worth the packing, driving etc. I used to be the resident "data geek" but you have me beat hands down! LOL.

Garance, I hope your shoulder pain is only a strain that you have to just rest. Torn rotator cuff's are not pleasant. require surgery to repair...my cousin has had it done twice...same side though...she had it done then fell on her shoulder and messed up the whole thing again...:(

Josie, what was it that kept you awake? Mine was work stress...what else is new?

Hi to the vacationing Lori & Valerie!

will check back later....

Hi Ladies,

Today's workout will be shoulders and arms and abs since I did not do it yesterday.

Deb, I was just worried about my grandkids. They are fine, but that always happens to me when they come for a long visit. I'm with you about the stress of taking a vacation, my DH always has a list of things to do before we leave. I don't have a dog anymore, so tha is one last thing to worry about.

I will be back later.

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did All Out Low Impact Hiit plus core 1 (49:21). Tomorrow I see the doctor.

It feels like fall here today. Very chilly!

Deb, DH has a torn rotator cuff and will probably have the surgery done in January. He has hired someone to do a lot of the work, because apparently the healing process is slow and complicated. Lots of PT. I really hope I don't have the same problem. DH thinks the doctor will try cortisone, and then, if that doesn't do the trick, he will have an MRI to see if it's something else.

Josie, you will have to report what you think of The Conjuring. I think it's one of the better horror films I've seen--not just a lot of violence and gore, but more psychological. Next on my list is Elysium, and if Paranoia gets good reviews, I'll go to that one too. I also have Jasmine on my list, but that one will show up at our local art house cinema.

Have a great trip, Deb!

Hi to Lori and Judy!

Good morning,

Leaving for the airport in about an hour. I miss my dogs....

I will have my iPad and if BIL can figure out his network password ( I have instructions for him) I will be able to check in here...

If not, have a great rest of the week, and a nice weekend!

Good morning ladies!

Having a great week. Just one day of rain but not too bad. Garance, sounds like you had a a good storm passing through.

Went to our friends home for dinner last night. Good food and company. They invited us to go to Martha's Vineyard on the boat Friday. Looking forward to it.

Been doing just ok eating wise. Trying to be good but not being real hard on my self. Been keeping up with my T25 and yesterday went for a 4 mile walk. Plus all the swimming so I am hoping all will balance out! Today I am going to try and fit in Travel Fit.

I wish you the best on your trip Deb. I know this is a bitter sweet trip for you and your DH. My thoughts are with you.

Garance, my ex husband tore his rotator cuff and had surgery. It was tough at first and PT is a must. All worked out and he was 100% when done. Hoping today goes well for you at the doctors? Two guns looks really good. Will be seeing this one soon.

Deb..I miss my doggies too!

I will be back later!!
