Hey there,

Did a CC this morning, gave up my hunt for Mr Squirrel, he better not jump out some time in the future and scare the hell out of me. Now more

I never did get in the garden yesterday, so that too.

Oh, and we did not end up seeing any movie, by the time it was time to decide when and where, DH's movie enthusiasum had gone. I figured it would not last long.

Cookout at my brother's later, what is everyone doing tomorrow?

Valerie, you have deer and I have rodents!

HOpe everyone is having a great weekend.

Hi Deb, Valerie, and any later posters--

This morning I did Booty Barre (63 min.).

I enjoyed Midnight in Paris quite a bit, but I like Owen Wilson, and feel like the movie was addressed to me as a film buff (or at least a Bunuel fan), someone knowledgeable about literature and the arts during the Jazz Age in Paris--all those American expatriates and painters like Dali and Picasso. So...it really might not appeal to a wide audience. Reminds me a little bit of Purple Rose of Cairo because of the fantasy of entering a different age.

We will be having a cookout tomorrow because DH managed to get a lot of hay in and it's rainy today.

Hope everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend!

Hi anyone who posts--

This morning I did Jazzercise Dancin' Abs (58 min.).

Spent the morning making a mixed berry cobbler and a corn and bean salad to go with our sausages and burgers. Listened the whole time I was cooking to the end of the Casey Anthony trial. It was riveting.

Everyone must be off doing their patriotic thing today! Have a great 4th!

Good afternoon all,

We took Keegan to the park, DH walked around the golf course, ( there is a 1.8 mile trail), while I did a walk/jog thing. A lovely day. Worked some in the yard, set up Keegan's pool, which he just kept going in to take the toys out. Could not figure why we kept putting them in there...THEY DON'T BELONG IN THE WATER!!

Leftover Thai for dinner tonight, my kind of dinner. We had our 4th cookout last night at my brothers, so this is just us relaxing.

Garance, berry cobler sounds delicious!

Have a great holiday!

Good morning,

Just finished STS TB Upper Body. Dang she goes fast in this one. At least she takes a water break between tri-sets. I love KCM's workouts but hate that she never breaks at all.

Well one good thing about the start of this week, it's only 4 days!

Off for breakfast and a shower. Will check in later, when others have been up.

Take care,

A busy weekend. did a bunch of yard work including staining the deck yesterday morning. It's a big deck but went quickly. DH power washed it about a week ago and we waited for a dry stretch to do the staining. Looks so much better and should be good for 2 years.

Got in disk 27...maybe was friday... but strained my rt shoulder. sore for a couple days though a lot better this morning. got in bike/treadmill time on one gardenmax saturday. did a bike ride with friends yesterday but low key cause one of them took a bad fall about 2 months ago and she's just getting back. this was her first ride since her crash. rode over some RR tracks on a local bike trail and slid sideways. she uses clip in pedals and there is no way to get out of them fast enough. she had a black eye, badly bruised hip and very painful shoulder that's not getting better very quickly. I am someone who stops and walks RR tracks. when they're wet, or you hit them at the wrong angle with skinny tires it's so easy to slip. and the falls can be bad.

We had 2 very nice weather days with rain only half of sunday, then clearing. always more comfortable if things are damp because of the idiots blowing off all the firecrackers & bottle rockets. always stay home on the 4thto guard things from wayward explosives but it's less worrisome if things are damp.

Deb, both TB and HR go really, really fast! I wrote down my weights and try to have them set up to go, but still need to pause just to keep the work area clear of debris. absolutely need to pause to make any changes with barbell weight.

I hate to sound shallow, but (for me) owen wilson's nose gets in the way. I don't think for a second that everyone has to be "movie star perfect" but it is so miserably crooked it never goes into the background. when he's on screen all I see is nose. It's like watching 120 minutes of a nose move around on screen. I don't have that problem with other performers, and appreciate the range of appearance for leading men/women is much broader than it used to be. but his nose just stops me from seeing anything else he does. I still put the movie on the queue & will give it a look when available.

Yoga this morning

Hi Deb and Valerie--

This morning I did KCM's Split Sessions, both upper and lower body (60 min.). I am pretty accustomed to how fast the upper body goes, and no longer feel as rushed as I did at the beginning. There are some moves on these that I really don't much understand because I don't feel anything on them. I especially dislike the one where you hold a dumbbell to your chest and crunch side to side and the squats with a knee pivot. She rather stupidly refers to them as pivoting the "rotator cuff" in your hip. I don't think there is a rotator cuff in your hip (?). I guess I am just tired of these and need something else.

Valerie, I really don't think you will like Midnight in Paris because Owen Wilson seems to be channeling Woody Allen--behaving like the quintessential Woody Allen character of his earlier films. On the other hand, Adrien Brody (now that IS a schnozz!), as Salvador Dali keeps seeing rhinoceroses when he looks at the Owen Wilson character's nose. I just like Wilson's drawl, which makes almost everything he says funny (to me).

Sounds like Keegan has very particular rules about where toys should be, Deb. Max is very protective of DH"s grey truck and guards it if he fears he might not be taken. The front passenger seat belongs to him alone!! My mixed berry cobbler was really yummy!!

Oh, I'll probably try the movie anyway. I worry less about knowing I'll like something since netflix. not a major investment of time or money to see a movie anymore. I hear (or read) the dialogue so sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised. We haven't invested gas $, parking $, snacks, and admission. if we don't like something, we turn it off. No suffering for 2 hours hoping a lost cause will get better. I'm WAY more likely to take a chance on something than I used to be. Adrian brody does have a serious nose but it doesn't torture me like wilson's does.

Yoga was good today, as usual. I need to do some cardio later or maybe a leg disk. I have let a long time lapse since I did a cathe leg disk and I'm not thrilled knowing the pain that will be following. Finally we have some pleasant summer weather. still too much snow in the mountains to do much, and conditions are fairly dangerous in some areas with collapsing snow bridges etc. not sure if we'll hike or bike tomorrow.

Hi Ladies,

I'm back to work. I did a spinning class and a Zumba class on Saturday and I walked on the soft sand for 2.5 miles on Sunday. No workout on Monday, I just stayed at home and did my laundry and watches the Twilight Zone Marathon.

I had a lot of fun with the grandkids, we did something every day that they were here. We went to the park, beach twice, the movies, and the farmers market. The even sang at Venice beach with one of the performers on the boardwalk.

Valerie, I feel the same way about Wilson's nose. It's just there and you can not keep your eyes away from it!

Hi Deb, Cathy and Joan!

Josie

Good morning,

Tired today, woke up with a headache and no energy to work out. Hopefully caffine will solve this.

Dh went to the DR yesterday, nothing new to report, she is sure it has something to do with his ear. Duh. I could have told her that. He sees the ENT tomorrow. Hopefully he may have an answer.

Valerie, did you strain from the workout? Or all that other stuff you were doing? I think TB is ok speed, the only tri-set that is fast is the chest one, the very first exercises she does. I have to remember to have the BB set on the rack, and the DB's right down at the side. Then it's ok. At least she breaks for water.

Garance, I don't like that move in KCM's lower body split with the knee rotating either. I think it puts a bad strain on your knees. I just don't do it. The other one is supposed to be for waist I guess. She is thinking of new DVD to put out. I just read it over on her forum. It will probably be a few months. Did you pre-order Cathe's new series? I think you did right? We probably won't get those until September. What about STS again? I would do it but I cannot wrap my mind around an hour workout. That's why I like the STS Total Body Dvd, It has some great pre-mixes.

Hi Josie! Nice vacation!

Joan, check in and let us know how you are doing.

Cathy, is it still "hot as hades" down there?

Off to get showered, etc.

Take care,

Did half of LBB yesterday late, or close to half. I wanted to get in squats & lunges without too much pain and suffering after, and it seems to have worked. I'm not sore. it didn't seem too bad when I was doing it and I would have done more but ran out of time. As usual it moves a bit too quickly. I thought I'd made notes but couldn't find them and didn't know ahead of time what weights to pull out. not long pauses, just enough to see what she's going to do and grab the proper weight.

Josie, we agree.... his nose is a huge distraction. sounds like a great break and vacation.

Never heard of anything in the hip similar to the rotator cuff in the shoulder. I think she is miss-speaking.

Joan seems to be MIA. Hope she is doing OK.

I've decided against ordering the new series, at least at this point. I have enough disks to keep me busy. we even have an elliptical I haven't used in a long time. I got tired of it but it is starting to sound OK again.

Hi Deb, Josie, and Valerie--

This morning I did Kari Anderson's Sweat Express II (57 min.).

Yep, Deb, I did do Cathe's presale. It's best not to think about when they will arrive because she is ALWAYS LATER than any other instructor with her presales. I think someone should tell her to wait until she's almost done filming before announcing a presale, but maybe she's too eager to wait for the $$$$$. I think after I return from the Jersey shore I will begin STS again, but continue to do one barre workout every week instead of her legs stuff. I just prefer isometric stuff for my legs over squats and lunges.

Valerie, yes, KCM has got to be wrong about a rotator cuff in the hip. My problem is when I've done something many times, mistakes like that begin to grate on my nerves and I start sputtering something like "grrr--that's stupid!" The first and second times I probably look at her and think "Huh?"

Welcome back, Josie! Sounds like you had a great time with the grandkids.

Hi to Joan and Cathy!

Nothing new here. DH goes to the ENT this morning, hopefully to find out what he has, and if they can do anything for it. He also filled out the form with his medical history, and actually wrote that he has been "accused of having sleep apnea".. Accused by me of course.

Valerie, it sounds like you have found the solution to your major DOMS issue. Only do half of the workout. I have an eliptical as well, not motorized though. Is your motorized? I find that it is very hard to do, and very boring. Maybe if I had one with a motor, like the ones in the gyms, I would like it better. I have considered getting rid of it, it takes up so much room and I never use it. Then I think, "maybe some day.." Maybe you should wait and just order the yoga one from the new series, although if you like being with other people when you do yoga, it wouldn't be something you would want.

Garance, I agree, Cathe does take a long time to get new workouts done. She really shouldn't say anything until they are at the editing stage. The worst was the series "with no name". That was the one that they had something wrong with them, and she had to resend, after we waited about 6 months for them. I ended up selling most of that series on ebay. Since STS, I have liked her workouts more, only buy the weight ones though. I did not by the STS Cardio, or any of the cardio in the last series. I am really looking forward to see how she will do with a barre workout and yoga.

Hi to Cathy, Josie, & Joan,

take care,

Did a bike ride yesterday, just 26 miles. we didn't get started early enough and the trail was getting too busy so we stopped a little early. Still a good 2 1/4 hours of fast riding. went to yoga this am and will maybe do the rest of LBB. I didn't get sore at all. maybe the bike riding does more for the areas I usually get sore than hiking usually does.

Deb ours is not motorized. It's like a treadmill, you need to watch something, anything, while on it or your brain ( my brain?) can't stand the boredom factor. I'm not someone who can listen to music and be entertained, I need visuals too. still, half an hour is usually enough so I always mixed it with other things. I like my yoga classes and for me yoga needs an instructor and it helps with a class atmosphere. usually there are 2-6 people who show up. I would not do a barre workout either so I'll wait & see what the reviews are on the low impact disks. I can always buy them later if they're good. LBB is a good mix of lower body and some cardio bursts.
Hope DH gets something clear cut. sleep apnea usually requires an overnight sleep study. nobody ever wants to do that! there's some new approaches to it, not always the blasted CPAP machine. bunch of dentists out here are getting into the market with oral appliances that work for some people.

Hi Deb, Valerie, and Josie--

This morning I did BBL Sculpt (50 min.). Glad I resurrected this one. Forgot how good it is.

Deb, I hope your husband finds out what his problem is and it's simple and easily treated. Ooh--"accused"! That's harsh. "Suspected" or "it's been suggested" would be nicer. I have not ordered from Cathe for awhile, but since I have complained so much about impact, it seemed only fair to try this set. Have you been watching any of the SYTYCD? Really good last night.

Hi to Valerie and Josie!

If you're here, Joan, how did the colonoscopy go?

Good morning,

why do weeks that are only 4 days seem like an eternity? DH saw the ENT Dr who thinks it may be Menier's ( sp?) disease. He has all the symptoms. He had another hearing test, and is going for a balance test next week. They may do an out patient thing where they actual go into his ear and pack it with some anti-inflamatory stuff. This is supposed to help somewhat I guess. There is no "cure", only hope to reduce or stop the dizzy spells as much as possible.

Valerie, I love the treadmill, use my iPod and do Cardio Coach or I-train workouts, but the eliptical, not so much. I think in my case it's because of the lack of the motor. The treadmill kind of propels you along, where the elipitical is all you having to make it move. I don't know. I only keep the thing in case there is a day when I can't do any impact at all, and want some way to do cardio. Like if I have a knee operation or something in the future. You would think since DH is a dentist, he would try one of those oral appliances, but he thinks it's a lot of bunk. He could probably make his own. Will you be taking a ride this weekend?

Garance, not watching SYTYCD. I never really got into that one.

Hi to Josie, Cathy & Joan,

Anyone have any fun things planned for the weekend? My niece's 40th birthday party is tomorrow night. She was born the day I graduated from HS..seems like yesterday.

Take care,

Deb, watching a TV program or movie on disk works well with an elliptical. treadmills are louder and make hearing tougher. I'm the only person on the planet who can't stand ear buds.. anything producing sound right in my ears. no idea why but I have never been able to tolerate ear phones or anything similar. too loud, echos around, the sound makes my bones vibrate. yech! Never could stand cardio machines at the gym because it was too loud to hear the TV and it's so boring if your mind isn't engaged.

all I can remember about meniere's was that is complicated think there was diuretic & sodium restricted diet but I'm no expert. Hope DH gets a proper diagnosis so he can get better control of it.

sleep apnea is common with the population growing older and fatter, two things connected. and there's money to be made.. most people resist the traditional cpap machine. not everyone does well with cpap so people doing lasers to reduce or tighten the tissue in the back of the throat, and dentists getting into it with oral appliances that help some people. my sister has severe sleep apnea, has a cpap which doesn't help her much. my neighbor has it too, and loves loves her cpap, fixes the problem. think a sleep study is required for a diagnosis, and then they can recommend what approach is best.
Watched "true grit" the other night. I'd call it Ok. I didn't think jeff bridges was hard to understand, one criticism I'd heard. the girl was good. I haven't seen a western in a long time that I liked much. Eat Pray Love ... watched an hour & so far it's fine. I always like julia roberts and her eating the pasta made me hungry! disk gave a run time of almost 5 hours, must be a typo.

I finished LBB yesterday, was more than half way through. didn't get sore at all, and like that disk overall. I may sub that one for the plyo legs in meso 3.

we decided against going anywhere for our 5 day vacation. may go to Canada monday if the forecast is decent and try hiking an area we've never been.

Hi Deb and Valerie--

This morning I did Dancetonic (both routines; 60 min.).

Off to the Jersey shore tomorrow! Hope I don't break anything the night before we come back like I did last year.

Deb, I hope everything goes well with DH. I have no idea what Meniere's disease is.

Watched a terrific film last night: Mike Leigh's Another Year. The acting was incredible.
