Good morning,

Agility class yesterday...that was my workout and Keegan's too. It was so hot, it was really tough to move through it. I left a few minutes early as Keegan was showing signs that he did not want to do anything more. Of course, I forgot the crate fan at home...:(.

Valerie, we opted to get the printer without the fax capability...not sure why, it just seemed like it would not be needed. Most people now prefer to get an email with an attachment if they need a document, rather than a fax, so the scanner was much more practical. I also have always, since even when I was a kid, gotten on and off a bike from the left side. I wonder why that is? All those phrases and words you sometimes cannot make out in The Sopranos? I grew up with those people....LOL....my cousin and I sometimes slip and throw one of those words in a conversation, then burst out laughing. We went to amusement parks a lot when I was young...and I only went on roller coasters. Anything that spun in a circle in any way was not for me.

Diane Sue, good that you got some Neosporin...it really works! We must have the same Envy printer...I hope o that static IP setting trick works for you. I am bad with hair stuff...I love silicones...for just what you said on how it makes it feel silky and smooth. Of course, that is after it is flat ironed..

Caitlin, good that you got some Neosporin...it really works. I agree with Diane Sue, maybe you should get a blood test to see your iron levels before taking a supplement...I read somewhere that too much iron can be a problem.

Hi to Josie, Judy, Lynda and Lori...

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Hi everyone--

I tried doing live kickboxing with leg blasts on lower quality. After about 20 minutes of it going on and off the image started stuttering, so I pulled the plug on the Apple TV and switched to low impact hiit from the previous series. I had to reboot the cable when I was done with the dvd because it was also frozen and nothing but a flickering screen. Ugh!

We had a good day at Jacob's Pillow--sunny and not too warm. Hubbard Street was uneven--a couple of the dances were absolutely breathtaking, but others were gimmicky, and the last one was weird because the dancers were wearing quasi-military looking garb. Why hide those gorgeous bodies in baggie pants, flak vests, and tons of pockets? Really irritating. Won't be going for three weeks now after 4 weeks in a row.

A new limited series on HBO--The Night Of--that is really good. I am looking forward to the second episode tonight.

I guess I will have to check the other thread to see what I missed.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone!

No workout today as usual. I almost did it just because I have 2 to 3 days I will not workout over next weekend when we go for our family cabin stay. I need to find out if some of the family will be taking a truck so I can ask if they will take Gertie's crate. It won't fit in my little Spark or the Lincoln. Gertie could do without it, but I think it might come in handy if we all go somewhere that we cannot take her I think she will bother others sleeping. She generally just choses whether she wants to go in her crate or not. Does anyone know why I put in Ice workouts in the workout manager and they do not show up? I have days on my calendar that that is all I did and there is nothing there.

Deb, I have not tried that yet with the printer. I will soon though. I printed up the instructions. Will this leave it still working with multiple computers in the house? The funny thing is when you sent that to me I had just finished turning off the computer and printer to get something to print.
I bet you little dogs would get overheated quickly. I understand performance slowing down. Gertie is such a silly dog. It can be 100 outside and I let her out and she will lay up against the brick wall on the concrete and sun herself. Same inside, the sun comes in through one of the skylights and she has to lay in it. The crate fan is a great idea. I wish I had known about them when we had to stay at my daughters. Both of my dogs and her little dog had to go in the garage part of the day because daycare does not allow them around the children. Then my daughter did not like them in at night. During the freezing winter months I went out and draped blankets over the crates. I think my dogs were happy when we got our house. I finally got my daughter to at least let their little dog Muffin to stay in one of the bedrooms or laundry room when the children were there to keep from being over heated or frozen. They have a room off of the garage that has a doggie door and my dogs would go in there at times but Muffin would never go in there.

Lynda, that is odd that the dancers were wearing the military type costumes. You are not going for a few weeks because you don't like how they have been lately ? Or are they done for awhile? I have seen a few series that look interesting. I just am not very good at sitting still and getting involved in one. My husband is lucky if I sit down and watch a movie with him.

Ha Deb, my DH is Italian. as close as he ever got to italian food in his home was spaghettios. no cooking happened there. His grandparents cooked a lot but didn't make it to the next generation. I don't know what most of the Sopranos referenced foods are, but if it's shortened to half the word, I can't even guess. at least with the subtitles, I can tell I didn't miss something important, just a menu item.

I got some features I don't need on this printer, but I think all the printers Costco had the same. I picked a mid range HP. there was a cheaper one and a more expensive one.

we did a 25 mile road ride this morning. Takes us about 2 hrs 15 min including a bathroom and snack break. really nice quiet morning on the road with little traffic.

Caitlin, I also feel you should not be treating this yourself. How did you decide you were anemic to begin with? some specific testing done? just feeling tired or run down does not qualify as "anemia" even though the word is often used that way. there are a range of reasons for anemia, some serious, others not as serious. anemia can be the result of problems with red cell production, viability of the red cells, or blood loss. I don't want to sound heavy handed but I'm afraid I am. . Please see a professional for a diagnosis rather than trying to treat it yourself. the iron might mask the real problem, and some people cannot tolerate extra iron at all. Lecture over....

diane sue ...my kitty does the same thing... lies in a sunny spot inside or out. plunks himself down in the warmest place and seems happy.

Lynda, you must have just about had it with streaming problems. How annoying.

Good afternoon ladies!

Yesterday was SB Total Body Interval then Ice Lower Body Blizzard Blast. Great combination. Today was all about the arms and back. Did SB Arms followed up with Strong Back. Another great combination. My upper body feels so strong. Very happy with the results I have been getting with lighter weights and high reps. Was going to do another Ice Blizzard Blast but my son came to vist yesterday and stayed the night. He and Bob were both hungry this morning for my usual Sunday morning breakfast. I did not want to keep them waiting. :)

It was so hot yesterday Deb. I get why you left a little early. I always have a small tube of neosporin in my pocketbook.

Judy...yesterday I finished SB's Summer Sizzle. Those 8 weeks flew by. She now has a 2 week booty challenge starting tomorrow that I will be doing. Speaking of rotations, 2 Lazy for the Gym posted a Cathe Live Rotation that looked good. I may do this when I finish this 2 week rotation.

Valerie...our printer does way more that we need. We scan and print that is all we use and need. Great ride today. I used to love early morning rides. I get on my bike on the left side too. Feels awkward to try from the right. laughed with the spaghetti o's !!!!

Diane Sue...all our animals will find that little spot of sun shinning in and curl up in a ball and be very happy. Nice that you bring Gertie with you on your vacation. We are bringing Nilla with us to Navarre, Florida when we go during Thanksgiving week to visit Bob's parents. First time for her on a plane. Hoping she does well. Nicholas is unable to watch her and no way will I board her. It will be interesting.

Lynda...another beautiful weekend here in NE! Today turned out so much nicer than they anticipated for this area. Sunny and hot all day. It is 6pm and no rain at all. So fustrating with your Cathe Live. I would be punching the TV at this point. I get really angry when technology acts up like this! Why the break from Jacob's Pillow? Does sound like odd clothes for dancers to wear. I love to marvel at their stong bodies.

Hi to Josie and Caitlin!

.

Hi Everyone,

It's been kind of a busy weekend here. My in laws are visiting from Colorado this week and then we are going to Indiana for a family get together next weekend. We've been getting things done around the condo and I haven't had much time to post. Thursday I did KCM Strength & Stamina 1 & Body Beast Build Shoulders; Friday I did a 90 minute indoor bike ride; yesterday I did KCM Weights 2 & today I did KCM Athletic Conditioning 2, workout 2, which was mostly stretching and ab work. I will be able to get a few workouts in this week but probably not much from Wed-Sun, so I will be getting a few rest days in.

Lori-Great job on finishing SB's Summer Challenge! I printed out the 2 week booty challenge. I saw the Cathe Live rotation on 2 Lazy for the Gym too. I have that one bookmarked too. So many workouts and challenges and so little time! :)

Valerie-great ride! You have been getting a lot of rides in this summer!

Lynda-I'm sorry about the streaming issues. That is very frustrating.

Caitlin-I agree about getting a blood test before taking iron. Too much iron can be bad and you should make sure you really need it.

Deb-The Cathe Live rotation that Lori mentioned has both PHAT workouts in it:

Hi to Diane Sue & Josie!

Judy

Good morning,

I woke up at 5:00 to lightning and thunder, but way off in the distance. We may be getting some rain, I sure hope so. No workout yesterday.

Lynda, that's terrible about the problems you are having with streaming Live....You have Netflix right? and no trouble with streaming that? do you use the Apple TV set up for any other streaming? Maybe its the Apple TV. Those costumes do not sound like anything to wear for a ballet or any dance.

Diane Sue, I think taking Gertie's crate is a good idea. She will have somewhere to go if she wants to get away from anything, and like you said, if you go somewhere, you will have peace of mind that she is safe. I have never used the workout manager...I think it should be ok to still use multiple computers to the printer...John prints on my Envy with his iPad and I use my desktop PC to print on it and it still worked after setting the static IP address. Keegan also loves lying in any sunbeam in the house, and outside he goes straight to the sunniest part of the patio...lies on the hot concrete if I don't put a pad down for him. Crazy dog...Kylee stays in the shade.

Valerie, sound like you had a really nice ride on a good trail. :)

Lori, yes sometimes workouts have to take a second place to Sunday traditions! :). It's nice that you can take Nilla on the plane with you.....the advantage of having a small dog. Will you have the puppy then?

Judy, great workouts, have fun with the family! Thanks for posting that link....does she have her own website? What is it that she actually does? I see a list of all exercise people on the right side, does she rate workouts?

Hi to Josie, & Caitlin

I am supposed to go to the airport this morning with Kylee, a local TV news channel is doing a spot about the program with the dogs at the airport....I said I would do it, but now having second thoughts...

Take care,

Hi Ladies,

My mom has been transferred to a rehab center and is doing well. I helped her with her physical therapy yesterday and she is still a bit wobbly but trying hard to get stronger. Its been 17 days since she got sick and it has been a very stressful time.

I did manage to do my usual workout last week and that helped with the stress. My poor dad has been at my moms side every day and looks tired, but he is in good health.

Deb, I don't like rollercoasters, but I like rides that spin :)

Valerie, it sounds like you had a nice ride.

Garance, I'm going to look for that series, I saw the preview and it looked very interesting.

Lori, thank you for the information on 2 tired 4 the gym. I love her web-site. Look me up on facebook.

Hi to Diane Sue and Judy!

Josie

Today, I did another mix from Ice Chiseled Legs. I did mish mosh double it + Blizzard Blast #2 , 99 minutes, 635 calories. am surprised I got that all in. I am tired. I was work up at 4:20 because my dog was having tummy troubles. I have so much to get done this week. Getting ready to leave out for the family cabin trip. I have to go find a birthday present for my daughter and groceries. I guess I am going to the pet sstore to find a different dog food. This is my week to get a thorough house cleaning in while my husband works. I didn't realize that the Canidae dog food that I bought is not grain free. I was using Taste of the Wild Grain Free for so long. Then Gertie started refusing it. It is what I fed both dogs for a couple of years. I read on Amazon that Taste of the Wild is now part of Diamond Pet Foods and a lot of peoples dogs were refusing it, vomiting, and loose stools. Then I was looking at at Whole Earth by Merrick, and there are a couple complaints recently and I read it was bought out by Purina. So I do not know if all of that is true but, Gertie does not need to have something else to make her sick. She refuses food most of the day then will eat it reluctantly, the next day is outside eating grass and I end up with vomit a loose stools on the carpet. She lays around seeming uncomfortable. If I cook up food she will refuse to eat the dry food for a couple of days waiting for something else.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did ICE Metabolic with Muscle Meltdown for chest (63 min.). I may try to do all of the MMs this week. That was a great add-on for the chest.

No, when we choose tickets for Jacob's Pillow, it's usually just for 6 performances so you can get seats early and a discount on your tickets. It just happened this year that the troupes we wanted to see were 4 in a row and then the last 2 each 3 weeks apart.

Josie, that's good news about your mom. I'm sure your dad appreciates your help a lot. The Night of is excellent--another series that raises important questions about our justice system. I also admire John Turturro's acting. Looks like he's landed the case of his character's life.

A total barkfest last night--a lurking coyote about 11:30 that roused Max and our neighbor's dog into a regular doggy serenade. The chickens were all inside and the fence is very hot, so no problem there, but what a lot of noise. I guess it's good that Max warns us of intrusions.

Lori, great that you are doing so well with all of your challenges. I was initially surprised on the chest MM that Cathe is using only 12 lb. dumbbells, but by the third set, it was definitely enough of a challenge.

Valerie, that's surprising that your husband only had spaghettios with Italian parents. I always thought Italians were serious foodies. Oh well, at least you don't have to compete as a cook with anyone from his family. My MIL is definitely a southern cook, and she raised my husband on some seriously rich with butter food, and he still wants/needs his fat. He is pretty skinny though.

I spent half of my day looking at dog food products and for a gift for my daughter. I got dog food but did not find the gift. Anyway, Gertie just ate a bowl of Castor and Pollux Grain free dog food and I did not have to add canned to it or anything. When I got back it looked like she tried to move the other dog food that was in her bowl around to lick up the spoon of canned that was mixed in. I sure hope this other one works for her. Now, to get started on cleaning. This is going to have to carry over to tomorrow.

Lynda, I do not have that one. It is sort of on the end of my want list with To the Mat. I am sure I will get them eventually. I am seeing ways to mix up the Ice dvds and use the premixes that are really pretty good.

Josie, I am glad that your dad is in good health. I hope that your mother continues to improve. 17 days is a long time already.

Deb, you are lucky no storms in sight for the future here right now. It is hot and dry. This weekend when we go to the cabin and boating etc., it will be around 100 all of the days. My poor plants are needing a lot of water. I put plant food on my tomato and pepper plants last night. I have this huge tomato plant with one tomato. Not a good sign. It looks like my hydrangea and roses are getting ready to put on more blooms though. I put cedar mulch around everything. I love the smell of cedar. Thanks, on the printer information.

Judy, those are good KCM workouts. I like that stretch and abs workout.

Lorie, you are lucky that your dog is small enough to take on the plane with you.

Valerie, that is interesting about the food references on the Sopranos.

I thought I posted something this morning but I guess not. DH went on a ride with a guy-friend and I did shopping. will do some kind of total body workout later.

I probably exaggerated about DH. he had some good food, his Italian grandparents were serious cooks, made wonderful food, even their own wine... after he picked the grapes. DH's father, though, ate almost nothing. cheese, crackers, beer. I don't know what happened there. DH's mother didn't come from a family of cooks either. as kids they got a lot of hot dogs. When I first met DH I asked him to bring an avocado for the salad, and he brought the hardest one he could find, thinking they were like apples. From CA ....and never had an avocado! Whatever. his parents got along well but they didn't cook and consequently none of their children do. DH likes good food though and will try most things... he has a much more sensitive palate than I do.

Judy we have been able to ride almost all of the year here. a few weeks in winter with ice on the trail didn't work, but not much total time really. even if it's cold, as long as the road surface is clean, it's OK. same with mt biking. a few weeks aren't good if there's snow. we try to treat this as a year round activity.

Josie, hope your mom continues to improve.

Good evening ladies!

This morning I started SB Booty Challenge. I did both schedule workouts that really worked the glutes and upper back of legs. Today when I got home I did bis and tris. This workout is only like 7 minutes but I worked late and was tired but wanted to do something!

Funny in Cathe's Newsletter today there is an article about light weights/high reps. You do not need to convince me!

Judy...really great workouts. Thanks for posting the link for the Live Rotation. If SB does not have another challenge ( I think the next one would be a Fall challenge) I may do this Live Rotation but subbing in some SB here and there.

Josie...glad your mom is doing well. And she and your dad are so fortunate that have you as a caring daughter. good that you have been keeping up with your workouts. Exercise is a great stress reliever.

Lynda...I like all of the Muscle Meltdowns. Ok that makes sense with Jacob's Pillow. Sounds like a horrible night! We have coyotes here too always causing issues. But we do not have chickens like you do! I like John Turturro too. Will look up that series. Sounds like something my husband would like.

Diane Sue...great workouts on hardly any sleep. Poor Gertie. Hope she is feeling better.

Deb...we think we will have the pupper early October. Will be here before you know it. Going to see if I can get someone to watch her when we go to Florida in November. If not we may have to board her. :(. No rain last night but unbelievale rain and thunder while I was at work today at about 3:30pm. Came home and found it hadn't rained at all here.

Valerie...I have done that many times. Thinking I posted and did not. Hopping is always good!

Hi to Caitlin!

Good morning,

I did not end up going to the airport thing yesterday, just a little off. The rain that started yesterday at 5:00 am lasted about 3 minutes....:(.

Judy, thanks for that link...it will be useful. How can someone have all those DVD's and do all those workouts? She must not do anything else at all! I printed her Live rotation, I think I will try it, with a little subbing (like Lori)...when she has anything that has plyo or high impact cardio. I may throw in some Phat or Metabolic in the first 4 weeks, where

Josie, glad that your Mom is doing better. I feel for your Dad though...he will need some TLC when she is back on her feet!

Diane Sue, you are really getting good use out of that DVD :). This series had the most choices for different premixes etc. Dog foods can be so confusing, and a lot of research time to find one that you feel good about feeding to your dogs. Maybe Gertie is feeling bad with the heat...that is what I think happened to Kylee last week. I made her turkey/pumpkin mix and gave her only that for about 3 days, and then she was fine again. Will someone water your plants while you are gone?

Lynda, good workout! I always wanted to do a "one body part per day" rotation with the Muscle Meltdowns, but had not figured out how to set it up..then Live came along...Yes, great that Max is on the job! What a good boy....:)

Valerie, You are so lucky with your weather there and the ability to ride almost all year. Your story about your DH reminded me of my grandfather....he had a grape vine that grew over a large arbor in the yard. He used them for making wine in the basement...we could not pick any grapes for eating, or watch out! Not that I wanted to that much...they were the old purple grapes with seeds etc...I never liked them because of the seeds. My cousins though used to get in all kinds of trouble for picking grapes off that vine...

Lori, those SB workouts are tough, I can see how they would work! Do you think Cathe's tower workouts will have any upper body moves the way SB does? I don't think we will see any clips of the ones that come with the Tower...I am still on the fence about ordering those. I hope you find someone to watch the puppy...maybe your son? or is he going too?

Hi Caitlin,

A workout, then hope to get in for a haircut/color this morning...also a meeting with the owners of a new arena location that we are considering moving to dog trials...

Take care,

Deb, I really am getting use out of these Ice workouts. I was thinking of doing the lower body and adding the bootcamp circuit no upper to it sometime. Gertie ate again this morning and followed me in and out of the house doing chores seemingly a bit more active. She really does not spend much time out in the heat. She goes out and comes right back to the door to come in. It does get warm inside in the afternoons on weekdays with the smart hours program. I thermostat switches to 82 in the afternoons and I have had it get up to 84. We use fans. Gertie gets warm and will go lie on the kitchen tile or entry tile, I should get her one of those cooling mats. Do you think they work? I don't know what I will do with the other dog food. It was a 30 lb bag that cost 69 dollars. It is a shame but if or is the food, I guess I will trash it. I put some in a tub and put it in the refrigerator in the garage to preserve it last night.

Diane Sue,

I would bring the food back (as long as you have a receipt). I have done that before and most places give a refund with no issue.

I only met the grandparents once or twice. I had some of the wine and cookies his grandmother made. they were both pretty old and sick by the time I met them. DH's father would never eat anything. I'd make a nice dinner and he'd push the food around and not eat. especially vegetables. he'd poke at them and ask me to cook them more, when I'd already over cooked them for him. his mother admitted she didn't cook much but she always seemed to like what I made. she put more sugar in her coffee than anyone I ever saw! like 10 -12 teaspoons in one cup.... she would just keep scooping and scooping until it almost seemed like a joke. I could see though, with his father eating complete junk.. (chips & sausage ) that it would have been a challenge to feel like cooking much. so weird to be in CA with all the fresh fruit and vegies and have none of it.
they lived in Fresno. a lot of wine grapes were grown. his grandfather would go collect all the free extras left after harvests and make wine from them. I think he would have been an interesting guy to know but he died of colon cancer.

did CUB late yesterday after a full shopping day. a 33 min premix. I just choose voice only and get along with this series better than way.

Deb, the riding population goes way down in winter. Nice when it's less busy. if it's icy, then no. I have huge respect for ice! mostly it's wet and maybe 40-50 degrees. not perfect but doable. Fast road riding makes wind block clothing, like tights and a helmet cover, important. you generate a lot of body heat riding so you don't want a lot of insulation or you'll sweat a lot and get chilled, but the clothing has to block wind and not be loose and "flappy". think we'll mt bike today, get my hair done later.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did ICE RS with MM triceps (61:52). Another good add on premix.

Lori, we had a big downpour and gusty winds yesterday afternoon. Much needed rain and today the air is so much fresher--a major drop in humidity. I saw that article about gaining strength with lighter weights too. I feel like information is constantly changing. One day we are told that only heavy weights will improve strength, then a few years later, they discover you don't really need to work out with heavier and heavier weights. I think Cathe is very good on this. She just says to pick the right weight for YOU and you might feel differently from day to day. I had to go down from the 12 lb. dumbbells she was using for all of the triceps moves in the MM on the second and third set.

Deb, why didn't you do the airport thing? Shy of publicity? Or just not feeling good?

Diane Sue, I would also try to return the dog food since you paid so much for it and it just made Gertie sick. I agree on the ICE premixes. Excellent.

Gee, I wonder if Trump will fire his wife for plagiarizing Michelle's 2008 speech. I couldn't believe their entrance last night to all that smoke and Freddie Mercury's anthem, "We Are the Champions of the World." Reminded me of the intros to NBA teams or MMA fighters. Zany!!

Today I did Ice Bootcamp Circuit premix upper and abs only, 28 minutes, 103 calories. I then did Ice Chiseled Upper Body 43 minutes, 149 calories. This seemed pretty low for me going heavy and the time length. I finished off with the Muscle Meltdown shoulders from Ice Lower Body Blast, 18 minutes, 69 calories. I think my shoulders were pretty well worked by the time I was done with all of this. Total time was 89 minutes and calories burned 316. I listed the weights used but, skipped the Bootcamp circuit weighs which were similar to Upper body.
