Good morning,

Well Keegan did great yesterday; a perfect score and he took first place! John took a video (see below

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nCxG1k8FUls

Lynda: I remember smoking loges in the movie theaters, ugh. A funny thing, when my best friend had her first baby, she called me the minute she could, and had already lit up a cigarette! She couldn't wait any longer. She also smoked
throughout her pregnancy, as did most women that smoked, including my mom. It seems so strange now. Did you ever watch Mr Selfridge on PBS? I started the series in Prime.. love the culture of the times . Kind od like Downton but in London and it focuses on the retail world at that time

Valerie, I thought campfires were supposed to smell good! Shows my ignorance in camping, since I have never been.

Lori, yes, one thing I do not like about Florida is what it does to my hair! It sounds like you are having a great trip with your DS. Did his girlfriend go too?

Hi to Judy & Josie,

Hope to do a workout today and lots of HouseMax. Then bact to the arena to tear down equipment load the truck and bring all back to the training hall. I am so glad I took tomorrow off! :)

Morning Deb ... darling video. wow that is a complex course. Keegan is so cute and did so well.

I think people used to be more concerned about weight gain and no one worried much about smoking. so strange how everyone smoked back then. no one considered it a risk, just something adults did. Now I get a headache and sore throat from smoke. we rarely do a fire. if we do, it's very late in the season so it's very cold out, the wood is dry and we're alone.

Good morning ladies!

We are at the airport. Should be walking in my front door by 5pm. Enough time to rest a bit then take chester for a walk. DH says he has been going nuts for a walk. DH has his ankle surgery (Finally) on tuesday so he is unable to take him.

Had a great time at Universal with my DS. Wish I had a pedometer to know about how much we walked. Saturday we left hotel at 7:30am and seemed to walk all day long. We were beat at the end. We ended the day going to the quite pool to relax and this family group of about 15 game in and obviously not knowing it was the quite pool running, screaming and jumping in the pool. Not for nothing but I was a little annoyed. I love kids but if I wanted all the ruckus I would have gone to the main pool. Was a little fustrating.

Yeah Keegan! What a great video. Thanks for sharing Deb.

I'll catch up on the post when I get home.

Have a great day all.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did RK with 1 lb. gloves (55:16), and last night took Max for a 3 mile walk.

Deb, what a smart little Keegan! Thanks for sharing. I cannot imagine Max having that kind of concentration unless he was ferreting out a chipmunk from some hiding.

Lori, my tolerance for amusement park rides has really diminished over the years. The last time I went on this horrendous roller coaster thing was years ago at Wildwood, and I just closed my eyes through the whole thing. They wouldn't let my son on without adult accompaniment, and he just kept begging me until I finally relented. My hair is too fine to last long in the humidity at the Jersey shore, too, so I just give up when we go there. I can't blame Chester--wonderful walking weather.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone!

Good morning,

I am off today, I planned this figuring I would be very tired after the 3 day event and I was right. Although I did not enter Keegan in anything yesterday, I went there around 2:00 to help tear down, and load the truck with all of our equipment.
Then we have to unload it at the training hall and put it all away. It was pouring during this time, go figure. All done, and not another event until September.

Valerie, how is your Mom doing?

Josie, are you back yet? Would love to hear more about the ride.

Lori, I think you had a lot of restraint at that "quiet" pool. I would have gone to find a manager and said something. Even with that, it sounds like you had a great time. What a nice way to spend time with your DS.

Lynda, funny you mention ferreting out a chipmunk etc...there is an AKC event called "Barn Hunt" where the dogs go into an enclosed area with bales of hay stacked up making tunnels etc, and there is a tube hidden with a rat in it that they have to find in a certain amount of time. They had this at the show in Ohio we went to in May but we did not get them registered in time to try it out. I think once they realize what they are looking for they would love it...being that they were bred to find vermin etc.
Max gets to do stuff like this at home in his every day life, the lucky dog!

Hi to Judy,

Hair cut/color and nails today....my kind of day off!

Take care,

Hi Everyone,

Deb-Congratulations on Keegan taking first place! He is so cute and smart! That course looked like a good workout for both of you. Hope you have a good day off today. I need to get a haircut and color this week too.

Yesterday I did Core Max no equipment and Xtrain Bi's & Tri's. I also did my first "Horizontal Conditioning" workout. I ordered the "Getting Started" DVD last week after reading about the program here on the Cathe forum. I only did one of the 10 minute workouts. It is challenging and something a little different. Not sure if I will get more or not.

Lori-glad you had fun in Florida! I would have loved the heat too. I'm with Lynda on the amusement park rides though, I don't really care for them anymore.

Hi to Valerie and Josie!

Judy

my hair is impossible when it's humid. would never willingly go to florida again, the land of frizzy unruly hair and sweat. back when I was working, our mgrs liked FL as a winter meeting site and I had to go several times. blech. I remember the water running down the inside of the windows in the hotel while I tried to get the temp down to what I thought was reasonable. I am not a nice person to visit FL with!
I'm trying to remember the last amusement park ride. it's a LONG time ago. always made me sick and that was no fun. the one I remember most was the thing that was like a giant spinning wastebasket that stuck you to the sides. I know I kept from vomiting by realizing it would fly back in my face if I did. not a pretty thought. I remember some rides at Epcot center that were interesting.
Deb. my mom is doing better and may be released home this week. she is still on o2 but can walk to the bathroom and back. if my brother and SIL want to take care of her, that is up to them. I think it's wonderful they are willing to do it, but I would not sign up for it.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did LLA (48:33) and last night took Max for a 3 mile walk.

Deb, that would be perfect for Max! He gets absolutely obsessed with killing voles, chasing chipmunks, and cornering rabbits and groundhogs. He is a very industrious hunter. I think it will be rainy and muggy here all week, but what a great weekend we had.

Judy, is horizontal conditioning a lot of plank work? Isn't it a lot of core work?

Valerie, I know that ride--it's called the Roundup, and yes, very stomach-churning. I tried it only once a long time ago at a small town carnival. Probably the worst for me was the tilt-a-whirl. I always felt dizzy after getting off that one.

Anybody tried Rosetta Stone? I am thinking of reviving my French. I just had lunch with a friend who says it's great. I can read French, but have always had trouble speaking it.

Josie, is the ride over now?

Lori, I'm with Deb--I probably would have complained to someone about the quiet pool.

Good evening ladies,

This morning I ran 2 miles on my TM. Been ages since I have done this and it felt great. Tonight was KCM Shape Up workout 2.

DH is having ankle surgery tomorrow and we need to be at the hospital at 5:30AM. Needless to say I will not be working out in the morning.

Valerie...my hair is just like yours in hot humid weather. It looks horrible. No matter what I do the frizz is ridiculos.

Deb...I actually did mention to one of the adults with the group that this was the "quite" pool but he did not speak English and had no idea what I was saying. I even went shhhhhh. But it did not work!

Judy...most people that talk of HC love the workouts. For some reason it does not interest me. Let us know what you decide and how you like them.

Josie....great pictures!

Lynda...I have not tried Rosetta Stone. It is suppose to be an excellent program. For a while there I was doing the Pimsleur approach to leaning spanish but I died out when my DH broke is ankle and I was not able to keep up with my lessons. Been meaning to start back up again but need to wait until DH is driving again. I really enjoyed my lessons.

Have a great night all!

Yay Josie! congratulations on finishing!

Lynda, I've heard good things about Spanish rosetta stone. my niece was using it because she's a nurse in California and so many people don't speak English ( like her MIL) so it's easier to meet in the middle somewhere.
I was a failure at French in college. I thought it sounded lovely but I was unable to make the sounds. it seems to me that many of the french sounds are made in the back of your mouth throat, whereas English words are formed in the front of the mouth. I tried hard...lots of time in language lab... but had to drop it after a year because I couldn't afford a bad grade. ( before pass/fail options) the second year was more speaking. the instructor conducted class in French. although I could read the words on paper I couldn't discern them at all when spoken. just could not hear the words or make the sounds myself.

I would not have been good on anything called "tilt a whirl"....

Good morning,

What a nice day yesterday was. Just as if I were retired. If only..

Judy, I watched the clip from the Open forum, that horizontal conditioning is tough!

Lori, I used to love roller coasters, and would go on the one we had at a local park in Canada over and over. Could not do anything that did any spinning around, like those tea cup rides. Now, maybe the merry-go-round is my speed. LOL. This is a really fun place that we have here,

: Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum | Once around is never enough!. The most beautiful carrousel horses ever!

Valerie, I'm like you...we have that February meeting for work that used to be in Mexico, and is now either in Florida when we are on the East coast, or Arizona when we are on the west coast....what a difference in how my hair is when we are in Florida, unruly and always frizzy. Arizona, however is just the opposite, great hair days!

Lynda, I have also wondered how the Rosetta Stone was, what is their concept on learning a language? They say it's not just repeating words or phrases, but then, what is it? Lori? Max would do great in Barn Hunt events!

Josie, I bet you are resting up after the ride. You deserve it!

Work is going to be long today, it's a day of all the sales reps coming in for a kickoff meeting, then dinner out. Fun, wow.

Take care,

Hi Ladies,

Back to the routine. Had a couple of rest days and plan on going to body pump today and spinning tomorrow. I did not feel sore at all on Sunday, I just needed to catch up on my sleep. I felt great this time around. The body pump and spinning I did and all the long runs paid off.

Judy and Lori, you both would love the ride. Maybe in the future all 3 or 4 of us If Valerie would join us can have The Pentagenarians team :). What do you say ladies? Lets show those young people what we can do ;)

Deb, congratulations! Keegan looks adorable. Thank you so much for posting the pictures.

Hi to Garance!

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Jazzercise Hiit (47:00).

Welcome back Josie! Great pics--and you don't look the least bit worn out, but full of joy. Great accomplishment!

I had lunch yesterday with one of my colleagues who is retiring, a medievalist, but also someone who can speak Arabic, French, German, and a bit of Russian, in addition to Old English, Old Norse, and reading Latin. She bought Rosetta stone for Arabic and was really impressed with how much better it was than just attending a class--especially on pronunciation, where you repeat something after hearing it, and the program tells you by a wavelength how close or far you are from how it is supposed to sound. When she went to France a few years ago, she wanted to improve her French speaking and bought Rosetta stone for that. She says it's the only way to learn to SPEAK a language. So I thought I might give it a try. Not a lot of grammar--much more like immersion.

Deb, those horses are incredible--or, as they would say in French, sacre bleu!

Off to another lunch with friends!

Happy Hump Day for us schmucks that are stuck working today!

We had the sales reps in all day yesterday, and it was an eating fest. Then we went to dinner with them...more eating. Ugh. I feel horrible..

Josie, welcome back and HIGH FIVES to you for completing the ride!

Lynda, let us know what the Rosetta Stone process is if you get it. It sounds intriguing. Like what do you speak into that lets it tell you how close your pronunciation is etc. Yes the carrousel horses that are there are ones that they used to make there for amusement park rides. They are all unique, no 2 alike. They even have a huge merry-go-round that you can ride while there. We took my 80 year old uncle there when he was visiting from Florida and he didn't want to get off the merry-go-round! He was so funny.

Hi to Judy, Valerie, and Lori,

Work, then home to crash,

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did XTrain ch, ba, sh (51:16).
No walks for Max, because he has a cut in his paw from digging somewhere in a hunt for a chipmunk, and it's kind of rainy all the time.

Well, I would certainly cheer on a pentagenarian team of cyclists on the sidelines--maybe fly off to San Francisco to send the team off.

Deb, think of food-grazing as a crime of opportunity. I always hated it when I would be on a committee meeting at 4 in the afternoon and the chair would bring cookies or donuts. 4 seemed like the worst time for me because I was a long way from lunch. Hard to resist.

Valerie, I looked at the first three episodes of the Top of the Lake, but had a hard time with all the mumbling and the Australian accent. A whole bunch of very creepy characters and a broody landscape photographed with gauze over the lenses to give it a static dreamlike quality. Holly Hunter just seemed like a very mannered eccentric and misanthrope. I thought I would like it, because Jane Campion is an interesting director (loved The Piano), but this really seemed aimless to me. Unfortunately I didn't have time to cancel the second disk, so I will probably watch the whole thing. Maybe it gets better?

No workout for me tomorrow morning. Plumbers arriving early to replace faucets and one of our toilets.

Good evening ladies,

This morning was Cardio leg blast. Was going to walk chester but like you mentioned Lynda it is rainy. Poor Max. Hope hos paw is better soon.

DH is doing well. Still in a lot of pain but to be expected. He is out of work for 4 weeks and no driving at all. This will be a challenge for both of us!

Josie...that would be so much fun doing that ride. Not sure that I would be up to it though. I may have to cheer everyone on along side of Lynda!

Deb...I watched the clip too of HC and I agree it looks tough.

Hi to Valerie and Judy!

Good morning, and Happy Thursday!

Do I sound like I am counting down to the weekend? I am. I can't wait.

Judy, we know that you could do the ride for sure! Not so sure about me, but I would cheer you on!

Lynda, Poor Max, hope he his paw is back to normal today. You may have missed my asking...have you seen any of the episodes of "Mr Selfridge" from Masterpiece? They are free on Prime. I started season 1. It's not as good as Downton, but I love the way they portray the times. ( early 1900's).

I know you like her, someone posted this over at MyFitnessPal:

"Christi Taylor released some new dance routines on YouTube. They are free! If you are interested, go try 'em! They are great. AND there are lots more to come! Did I mention free?!".

I have done some workouts that are posted on YouTube using my iPad and it's not bad...and like she says, they're free!

Lori, glad your DH is doing well. Wow, 4 weeks without driving is tough! You will now be a full time chauffer! I hope the Dr's were just giving him the outside time limit. I know you would be able to do the HC workouts!

Hi to Judy, Josie, & Valerie,

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

Did not do a workout this morning because plumbers were early for a number of tasks. Love the looks of my new faucets--Moen brushed nickel Voss. I had a very leaky old faucet but we have a double bathroom sink, so both will be replaced.

Lori, a month off for your DH. What will he do to keep himself from getting bored? Isn't this weather annoying? It is just cold and rainy all the time. I'm hoping for a turnaround this weekend. Have you seen the last two episodes of GOT? Next Sunday is the season finale and has some major "confrontations" according to EW.

Deb, I am still watching episodes from The West Wing. I will take a look at the Selfridge series when I get there, which will be quite awhile because the West Wing was a long-lasting show. It really is very good, though.

DH has expressed an interest in seeing the Edge of Tomorrow with Emily Blount and Tom Cruise, so maybe we will be going to that this weekend--although if the weather is good, he will be haying.
