Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 6/29

Good morning,

Last day of work before the long weekend. :)

Overbite here, and I wish I would have gotten braces when I was an adult, and could afford them myself. It just wasn't the kind of thing my parents had the money for.

Just need to get through today, and then some down time.

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did KCM's Cardio Quick Fix, both workouts (44:39).

Lori, I think (hope!) Arthur stays well to the east of us. I did hear that Boston would do their fireworks tonight instead of being deluged by rain tomorrow night.

I must admit to not being a big fan of fireworks. I had appendicitis one fourth of July evening and was living right next door to the school playground where they were putting on a show. Still reminds me of that awful night and the appendectomy the next day, and now Max gets hyper when he hears the occasional firecracker--his ears go back and he looks all tensed up.

Enjoy the holiday everyone!

I dislike this holiday a lot. I didn't like it as a kid. we spent it with people I didn't like so bad association for me.
If noise were limited to one night it would be OK but it goes on for weeks. especially all the illegal fireworks. so many people do it ... it's impossible to control. another great "'service" the local indian tribes provide for us.... selling this crap ( that supposedly can't be taken off reservation land...total joke) so we can all be miserable for weeks with the unregulated noise, mess, fires etc. I tolerate it as best as I can but I don't like it.

went to yoga this morning, then we did a 25 mile ride. the painting is almost done! they do a very good job and are meticulous. I'm tired... this was 2 hrs 15 min but we've done something every day this week. tomorrow we will probably ride again but a different place. we don't go to the mountains the 4th weekend.... ever.

I think our share of the bill for braces was $2500m they were covered at 50%. I had it done before Invisalign though I don't know if that would have been an option. It was fairly unpleasant sometimes but worth it. I could not believe what my teeth looked like when the wires came off!! It was a miracle. I sleep with a retainer at night but that's all I need to do since.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Happy 4th!

Nothing much here either, just stuff around here, the usual.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Good afternoon and happy 4th!!!

Not much going on today. I did KCM lift up workout 2 and then walked chester in the rain. He did not mind and I had an umbrella. He went for his swim so he ended up soaking wet anyway.

We are getting ready to grill some burgers then going to watch some Fargo episodes.

Lynda..looks like a lot of rain coming our way. So far it has been pretty steady most of the day. Tonight it will come down hard.

Valerie...that is so sad about your unpleasant memories. I am usually in Charlotte for the week visiting family and always have a lovely time. Did not go this year due to DH's surgery. Insurance is covering just less than half in my case. My out of pocket expenses are about $4,000. Do not understand why crowns cost so much!

Lynda...how old were you when you had your appendectomy? My Nilla was so afraid of fireworks and thunder. Now that she is my senior doggie and mostly deaf it is a non issue now.

Josie...Sounds like a nice night for fireworks for you. i am sorry to hear about your neighbor.

Hi to Deb and Judy!

Happy Day After the 4th!

We didn't do any fireworks or anything yesterday, lots of stuff we could hear from around the city. They neighbors weren't too bad, better than some years. I am so thankful that the dogs don't seem to even hear them. They did a couple of "woofs" with the first few, then ignored them the rest of the night. It helps that we have the windows all closed and the AC on .

Lori, I had a terrible time with my first 2 dogs, both were terrified of thunder, fireworks and would shake and drool, pace around...it was horrible. Vets didn't do much back then, but if it was today, I would definitely get some type of med, or anything that would help.. You wonder why some dogs are ok with it and others are not.

Lynda, did you get a lot of rain?

Josie, sorry about your neighbor. So sad. My cousin just found out that her cousin ( other side of her family) was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. they gave her 6 months to live.

Hi to Valerie, & Judy,

Nails this morning with my cousin, then whatever...some regular weekend HouseMax, dog food making....etc etc.

Have a great Saturday!

We had dinner at a friends house and got home 10:30 ish to a war zone. our neighbors ( even the nice ones) are totally nuts. this was the worst ever..... maybe because it rained lightly for a while everyone felt the fire hazard was zero and they blew up everything but the family car. usually our kitty isn't bothered but it was so ridiculous he hid under the bed until after it was over. still some isolated ka-booms at 3, 4 am. I put a pillow over my head ( works better than ear plugs) and go to sleep with the windows shut. at our friends house we could see things going off all over but the noise was nothing like it was at our house. wow. these are adults???
Deb, our friends like 2 black labs and they were not bothered. these are hunting dogs so they're used to gunshots etc. lucky yours were OK with it.

I wish this were limited to commercial displays and to one day .... fat chance. in the Midwest where I grew up we didn't have anything like here. maybe that changed there too? weird and a relief to wake up this morning and have quiet.

we bought a pocket hose at the recommendation of a neighbor who has several. she uses them in her yard because they aren't heavy like rubber. we hooked it up this morning on the deck. it looks like a nice way to connect to the hose bib on ground level and have a small light hose on the deck that will coil up and disappear into a small space. I'm not sure it will hold up to rough use, but it's perfect for a deck to water hanging plants.
