Today I did STS 2 Upper Body 2, 64 minutes, 149 calories, heart rate 98/131. I followed it with STS 2 chair yoga 21 minutes, 30 calories. Total time 85 minutes, 179 calories. I changed a couple of weight increments, but it was pretty much the same as last time. I used a 30# barbell instead of 25 for the close grip bench press. I always feel fine after the workouts and then a day or two later the doms hit. I was sore when I got up, but now I am fine after the workout and stretch. I bet by Thursday I am really sore again. Legs only hurt after the first total body and now seems to have settled down. Today's workout was the last for me in the 8 week program of phase 2. I will do some cardio and abs tomorrow and decide whether to start Body Parts or work some short premixes in as I do not want to spend a lot of time working out. I need to look at premixes and all of the bonus moves. Now, the only workout I have not done at least once is the Chest workout.
Cathy, I am glad everything went smoothly this morning and you got in STS 2 Lower Body 2. I was onlyy interested in the move with the fabric band and stability ball in the bonuses. I do not like push dips, step ups and having one foot on the step lunge. After everything else I did not feel up to it and for the one move I would have had to drag out the step, ball, and band. I woke up to thunder and rain this morning again, the sun came out this afternoon and it hit 91 degrees.
If I mentioned the problem to a doctor, they might do it. I do not really want to go to physical therapy though. I am going to see what I can find. The left leg is normal and no discomfort or problem other than it is the one that had a torn minescus about 7 years or so ago.
Carolyn, great job on the Upper Body 1 STS 2 and the chair stretch. I like the pace of the chair stretch when I am really sore. These workouts are so long, and even when I think I am prepared and everything set, I end of stopping to change something or move something along with the dog for space. They take me longer than they should. I cannot imagine trying to throw a cardio workout in with the weight workout even if I wanted to. I am liking taking a break from so much cardio.
I remember another time when my children were young us having a drought much like last year. There was no rain most of the summer and when we got some everyone in the apartment complex we lived in at the time went outside to watch the rain come down and some going out and getting wet.
I read a science article about weather patterns and how the changes come at intervals around every 15 years. It was interesting.
Valerie, every time I have an appointment there is some anxiety that they will find something. I guess it is to be expected as we age. I appreciate that I can still move around and do a lot of stuff without problems so am grateful for that. I have my appointment for the lung nodules mid July so the scan for that. August is back to arthritis doctor that may be wanting to change my meds. and decisions there. I originally should have been done with the lung nodule as they had only mentioned one, but the doctor that took over the original doctor's spot said there were more than one to watch and to come back. She left the heart hospital but is the one reading them after they come in and letting me know. I would like to see doctors as little as possible.
It is single leg and the right leg that is my off leg is the one that I was having a hard time even getting my heel off the floor. My whole leg was shaking trying to do it for some reason. I can do them if I am doing both legs at the same time. It did not make that much sense. It was the same thing with the putting a stability ball on my leg and doing lifts the way Cathe does on sts 2 lower. My whole leg shook and my foot could barely come off the floor. It was better the second time though.
I think it is something to do with the hip too. I finally realized no matter how hard I tried I was not going to get into some of those positions. I cannot sit cross legged even with my knee pointing upward for long as my back and inner thighs start hurting. I sit on the high step topper or something that gets me up off the floor a bit. I tried a balance disc for sitting on, but even with little air in it, it is a bit hard to keep still in the position. It makes me work to hard to sit up straight. It was a thought though. I hear instructors saying after a while this will become easy and after years of trying, I think they do not know what they are talking about. Not everyone is the same.
Judy, great choices for your workout today. I think the only thing you can do for arthritis is maybe meds to slow the progression and keeping pain and inflammation down that causes it to worsen. I use Curcumin twice a day, take Move Free advanced, and collagen. I had quit the glucosamine and chondroitin products till I saw how much the product I got for my dog helped her. I got her something with glucosamine, Chondroitin, fish oil, and curcumin in it and after a week she stopped having a hard time getting up and slowly limping across the room. This was after playing hard with my son's pup when we were away on our 50th. I thought maybe I need to go back to using it. I have never been to a chiropractor. I think I would worry a bit about them trying to move joints around that had arthritis. I have read things about bone fragments getting caught in joints and stuff. My parents used to go to one quite a lot though.
