Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Valerie--

This morning I did After Burn (54 min.).

Deb, I have pretty much been doing LIS now for almost 6 mos. I did get bored with LIC after I mastered it, and I don't like S & G, and I have been rotating High Reps and STS Total Body with Turbo Barre on Sundays, and started doing the two gym styles for upper body on alternating Wednesdays. Instead of LIC or S & G on Tuesdays, I am now doing Cardio Supersets, which I also do on Thursdays. I consistently do After Burn on Mondays and Athletic Training on Fridays. I am hoping to change things up with Cathe's two new ones and maybe start STS after I come back from vacation.

Valerie, the music soundtrack for Taxi Driver is by Bernard Herrman and this was his last film (he is very famous for his soundtracks on Hitchcock films, especially North by Northwest, Vertigo, which borrows from Wagner's Tristan und Isolde, and Psycho--the violins in the shower sequence?). I do remember when the film was released that a couple critics--John Simon, in particular--were critical of the music in this film as being overbearing, so maybe you are having the same critical reaction. In general, I think the music has just become louder in theaters with Dolby sound. Everybody wants to be John Williams or Jerry Goldsmith these days.

What is everyone reading these days? Any recs??

Hi garance..
Hope I spelled it right. I was wondering can u pm or post ur rotation u were doing? Sounds intersting. I can't do the high impact yet. ( foot) ..so maybe your rotation can work. Thanks.

Josie, yes, there's a macy's not far away. I will do better if I can try them on to get an idea of how their sizing applies to me.
Lynda, the easy rider one looked fine to me.... I don't need a high waist but not real low. the low ones are always wide and I'm not wide enough in the middle hip to hold them up. off to see what I can find.

Hi Renee--

Happy to oblige. I've been doing this for about 6 mos--whenever I received the LIS. The first rotation was

Sunday: Turbo Barre
Monday: After Burn
Tuesday: alternating LIC and S & G
Wednesday: Total Body Trisets Upper Body Split
Thursday: Cardio Supersets
Friday: Athletic Training

I did this for about 4 mos.

The last two months I've changed things a couple times

Sunday: Rotating Turbo Barre with STS Total Body and High Reps
Monday: After Burn
Tuesday: S & G (I became bored with LIC after I mastered it.). This week I decided to sub Cardio Supersets for S & G, because I HATE all the burpees on S & G, and while I enjoy the conditioning on S & G, I just don't think it's all that effective, so I decided to go for the solid cardio on Cardio Supersets.
Wednesday: I am now alternating Gym Style chest and tris with Gym Style back, shoulders, and bis
Thursday: Cardio Supersets
Friday: Athletic Training

My Mondays and Fridays have stayed the same.

Hope this is helpful.

Back from a hideous but fairly short shopping trip. even the short ones are way too long but I can't get my thighs into them. and when I do, the top gaps all over. so they are too small and too big all at once. I could not stand even for 5 minutes the tight material on my legs. UGH. no Lucky jeans were short enough and I had the sales person get me the shortest ones in the regular womens dept. I'm talking 5-6 inches too long! I've had this heredity that gave me "big" legs and after close to 60 years of exercising and dieting to reduce their size I can say, with confidence, ...it won't happen. I tried petites and they had essentially the same fit issue although not too long at least. still, most uncomfortable and no way would I buy anything that fit like that. I see people wear jeans that are tight like that but I'd have to be hypnotized to do it. I keep forgetting I'm shorter than I used to be, and I don't wear heels or platform shoes with jeans. I'll shut up and order some from LL Bean.

Off to do some kind of cardio, either treadmill of cardio supersets.

Good morning,

Tired here today, although I slept well, about 6 hours straight. For some reason I didn't want to get up this morning to do a workout. Well, we have agility class tonight, and I am doing both dogs now so that is a little bit of exercise.

Valerie, we have an actual Lucky Jeans store in one of our local malls. I also get the ones Garance gets, the Easy Rider ones. They are my favorite jeans, but if you didn't feel comfortable in them, go back to Lands End or LL Bean. I also have Lands End ones that are ok too.

Garance, I will watch Dogs in the City this weekend on the computer. I have to get my VCR straightened out so I can start taping it each week. I really like the show. I will be pissed if there is some kind of abuse going on, but I know Justin will take care of it. :) I guess shipping has been completed, we should be getting our new workouts any day now. They seem to be more cardio, little weight work. I think we can do ok with the lower impact pre-mixes available.

What's everyone doing this weekend?

Hi to Josie, & Joan,

Deb I will see if we have a Lucky store hereabouts. yesterday was a frustrating experience. not sure another store will help.
apparently I need jeans part size 8 and part size 14 to get a possible fit. I have little hope of diet changing anything as I always have the thigh issue. might get slightly smaller but so will everything else, proportionately.
there is no way anyone would willingly wear anything that fit like these jeans yesterday. in addition, the jeans, before you even put them on, are faded and distressed looking right where they're tight, further drawing attention to the area I don't want attention drawn to. I'm about half an inch shorter than I used to be so that doesn't make much difference. I am a little over 5"2" and I used to be closer to 5'3". not exactly a dwarf.

I am proud though, that I got home after and ran 30 on the treadmill, did my 1 hr yoga in the am, and had my one glass of wine with a low cal dinner. 1 tostado with 2 TB fat free refried beans, 2 oz skinless chicken breast, tomatoes, lettuce, salsa, with a side of sauteed zucchini/ red pepper/ corn.

Found a store ( only 5 miles away) but will call first to see if they carry anything in shorter inseams.

not sure what we're doing this weekend. we'd planned a hike but it looks cool and wet. this year is resembling last year strongly. not sure if we'll do it. might do a bike ride instead as it's usually cooler and wetter in the mountains.

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Valerie--

This morning I did AT (56 min.).

My Cathes came today. I'm going to look at the workouts first, just to see how awful it would be to try to do them, then the Less Impact premix on each. She also has some low impact tabatas on each.

Valerie, that sounds very frustrating. I think Lucky Brand is probably meant for someone like me--I like the snug fit with the stretch. I'm about your height, but my legs are pretty long and I usually wear them with my Dansko clogs during the winter. I tend to wear shorts or capris during the summer with sandals.

No abuse, Deb, just an overfed issue with "Biggie." (which is probably abuse, but the owner really just cannot imagine her dog eating smaller portions). Justin solves the problems of a couple of the issues by getting the owners moving with their dogs.

No real plans for the weekend because this is great hay weather, so DH will be working his butt off. Not sure what I will do to entertain myself.

Hi to Joan and Josie!

Hi Ladies,

I will be spinning tomorrow and riding on Sunday. No big plans for the weekend. My DB is painting the interior of our house so there will be a lot of furniture being moved around. I guess I can use that as my upper body workout. After the house is painted we will be changing our carpet and that will be it for a while.

I will probably be getting my new DVD’s today too!

Josie

Hi again--

I just looked at the Less Impact premix on Crossfire and I am very impressed. I won't have any problems with most of this, and a few little modification tweaks. I started watching the workout and just stopped with the Firewalker Tabata--no way I'm doing tuck jumps--and the second Tabata is called a Plyo Tabata, so nope, won't be doing the original workout. The Less Impact premix repeats the Low Impact Tabata, and this I can definitely do. Thank you Cathe! I think I will be doing this one on Monday.

Called the lucky store and the shortest length is 30. that is probably too long and almost certainly the legs are too narrow. If I lose the weight I may take another look but it's not likely that my legs will get thin enough to fit in the skinny legs of those pants.
want to hear more about the new workouts... keep it coming.

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Valerie--

I previewed the lower impact premix on To the Max, and it's a definite good one for me. First, it's about 39 min. long, and the step portion is very similar to AT and about the same length. The low impact tabata with the disks looks excellent because there are no burpees, and the lower body and core-upper body work looks excellent. Thank you, Cathe! I will probably do this one in the place of Cardio Supersets.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! I did Housemax this morning. A hot day, but low humidity here, so it's actually quite comfortable if you don't like wearing much more than a sundress and sandals (suits me!).
