Deb where are you this morning?

good morning all. I ended up without a workout yesterday. some more garden work, and a big day of errands. DH had to get our main car serviced and also had to take his bike in for repair. that is 4 trips for me to drop him off and pick him up since it was about a 5 hr wait.
He has been bothered with his new bike and going adjustment issues with the brakes/derailleur. the shop has been accommodating and has fixed it at no charge but finally yesterday they replaced a main cable and the brake fluid. he has been back there with it monthly since buying in January. my bike, bought the same time has needed absolutely nothing. we hope this solves the problem. we ride regularly (as you all know) but nothing that should require cables to be adjusted so many times.

will do an indoor workout this morning and then head to cousins for lunch. after a short stop at REI.

Good morning,

Today I did LITE Metabolic Blast 48 minutes, 245 calories,

Valerie, thanks for starting us out this morning. I did a workout, then started some house cleaning stuff and the time just got away from me. It has been raining here off and on, and although we need it, somewhat, it would be nice for summer to get here. It has been a very late spring. It sounds like you have been doing a lot of work around the outside of your house. Sorry about your sister...you would think that maybe at an adult community center or senior center, she could find someone to help her with the phone?

Carolyn, good job on Cardio Slam. I 'm with you, I hate shopping, of any kind. Hope you had a nice day yesterday.

Diane Sue, I hope you are doing better today. I was all ready to purchase a curcumin supplement, but read the side effects, and found that it may interfere with blood thinners. I do not take blood thinners, but have that blood disorder where my blood clots more easily than it should, and I would wonder if taking it would affect that.

Judy, ICE Metabolic Total Body is a great workout! How is your schedule for this week? Didn't you have 4 days in a row off?

Hi to Lori,

Take care,

Hello Ladies,
This is my regular rest day. We are having a lazy afternoon to celebrate Father’s Day for my husband. He is a steak and potatoes guy, so that’s what I will make for dinner.

Deb, great job with LiTE Metabolic Blast. That’s a nice workout. You are wise to be careful with supplements that might affect your blood clotting.

Valerie, it’s good to get all of the errands done even if it takes up your day. Hopefully your husband’s bike is fixed now.

Hello to Diane Sue, Judy, and Lori.

We had a nice day with family. They all came to our church to honor their Dad and then we had chopped brisket that I picked up from Billy Sims. Family bought sides. We had a nice time. I did Raw stretch before we went to church. Tomorrow is my swimming and library day with my daughter and grandchildren. My workout for tomorrow will be Raw Front Side and Back Side. Hopefully I can get it in. It is an hour long. I think I will be skipping some of the shoulder work since my neck is still bothering me.

Valerie, that is a shame your husband is having problems with his bike. It should be under warranty, right? It is frustrating to purchase something and spend so much time repairing it.

Deb, I would be careful with supplements without the doctor's go ahead first. There are a lot that affect blood as thinners. Fish oil, C, Curcumin for sure. I think glucosamine products as well. Whenever I know I am having even a small surgery or something, I cut the supplements out for awhile and I do not have a problem.

Carolyn, my husband is a meat and potatoes guy. He is trying to stick with a paleo plan and had started with keto. I switched him because he was not losing weight because of all of the high fat foods. Now he has some watermelon and grapes. I don't feed him potatoes and he does not eat most veggies. It is green beans, peas, and celery or carrot sticks. Not a lot of choices. I miss having the potatoes and rice additions to his menu. Have to be creative :) Today he had a bun with his brisket and a small scoop of baked beans though. He needed a cheat day.

Deb, good morning. strong work on metabolic blast!

sister is a real piece of work! she has no social connections. her whole life is a long episode of alienating people. she lives in a marginal neighborhood and can't drive the last 10 years . simple things are challenging. a hostile, angry attitude... most people don't tolerate her long. she belongs in a low income senior assisted living community with a driving service. it falls on deaf ears. she will always need rides to medical and dental appts, shopping etc. she won't change anything until she is forced, and it won't be pretty. I am the only one left who will deal with her at all. she has no contact with son, ex husband, brother, cousins, minimal contact with daughter. I limit my exposure. when our mother passed last spring, no one in our entire family and friends offered to take her to the funeral. DH and I did, because no one else had stepped up. so I guess I am a saint....

I did stacked Upper body and core #2 this morning, then went to lunch at cousin's house. they are really doing it, moving to Az. we think its a bad choice but its not ours to decide.

Yes, this is all warranty bike repair, but we have to take it there, wait, or come back to pick it up again, and if he got a lemon, he wont keep it. they said there was a kink in one of the cables. we'll see, since it seems to need adjustment every other ride. cable got replaced. my bike, a much less expensive model, has needed nothing since January and we rode the same mileage.

Deb I agree, you should get your docs advice on whether curcumin is workable for you, since if it affects clotting time, you may need occasional monitoring tests to be sure it is working OK for you.

Deb-this is the week I have 4 days off, Wednesday through Saturday. I scheduled our annual eye exam appointments for Saturday since we have been putting that off due to my schedule.

Good morning,

A lazy day yesterday. After my workout, we pretty much stayed in and did things around the house. It rained all day, so no yard work.

Carolyn, steak and potatoes sounds good to me!

Diane Sue, that sounds like a perfect day! No one had to cook. LOL...I think your husband deserved a cheat day....Father's Day is a good one to do it on. I have looked at keto menue, and plans to start for beginners....etc. not for me. It seems so hard to keep to.

Valerie, you are being a good sister, even though she is hard to tolerate, and does not appreciate the effort. That's too bad that the cousins are leaving. Is that the only family you both have there?

Judy, good that you were able to get that appointment during your days off.

Lori, hope things are improving for you....post and let us know how you are doing.

New puppy class starts this morning, always fun doing those...

Take care,

Today I did Kick, Punch, and Crunch, omitting combo number 3. My time was 62 minutes with 404 calories burned. My average heart rate was 124 and maximum heart rate was 163. I think that the abs at the end brought down my average heart rate because I could tell that it was higher during the workout. I have always liked this workout, even the abs segment.

Judy, having four days off in a row is great for you.

Valerie, it’s obvious that your sister isn’t going to change at this stage of her life. You are a good sister to try and help her manage, which is all that you can do.

Deb, I’m not much for steak, but my husband really enjoyed it. I also grilled some chicken for myself, but I did eat 2 ounces of the steak.

Diane Sue, sounds like a perfect Father’s Day with your family. The potluck approach is wonderful for days like that.

Lori, I hope you are well. Take care.

I think she does appreciate my efforts, but its too bad she had to alienate everyone else first! yes, you're right, she won't change. I set my goals on "reasonable" and let it go at that.

we did a hike today, 5 hours RT. it was not rewarding. it was a rough trail, lots of blow downs to climb over, too warm and humid. we never got to the final destination. a huge blow down of tangled trees, and neither of us were up for tackling it in both directions so we bailed early. the only trip reports were from way earlier when it was all under snow. the drive there was a hassle besides. we saw lots of flowers and heard a lot of birds but not sure we will do this again until ( if) the blow downs get cleared.

This morning I did Coffey Fit Raw Just step, 24 minutes, heart rate 144 average 190?? max, 2,244 steps, met 7.0, 181 calories. I then did the Challenge workout, Raw Front side/Back side, 56 minutes, heart rate 97 average- 130 max, met 5.7, 277 calories, 877 steps. Total time was 80 minutes, calories burned 421 calories, 3,121 steps. We went swimming for an hour this afternoon. I ran a couple of errands before my daughter and grandchildren came. We had a nice time today :)

Valerie, your sister is luck that you help her out and should really appreciate it. I hope this repair with the chain takes care of the problem with the bike. I would understand your husband not wanting to keep it if the problems keep coming. You use them a lot.

Judy, you just made me think, I forgot to call my dentist office back to set up appointments. I was in Sprouts when they called.

Deb, I told my husband I could not do the Keto diet. I would have to give up too many things. I was eating some of the things I made for him and I started gaining weight because I was still eating my berries and dark chocolate and the like. I had to leave those almond flower with loads of cheese bread sticks and things alone. It wasn't working so well for him either. I got him back on the plan we used a year ago when he dropped weight. He does much better when he can fill up on watermelon between meals. Still a lot of low carb, but more care taken in the fat intake and no sugars or potatoes.

Carolyn, I like the pot luck, because it takes a lot of the work off of me :) It makes it much more enjoyable. That was a really good calorie burn for Kick Punch and Crunch. I have noticed when I look at the workout manager that even the met values drop a bit when abs or some floor work is added to a cardio workout. Which is understandable since the heart rate drops.

Good morning,

No workout yesterday. I was all set to do a treadmill workout, but before I did, I got a bloody nose ( I know, gross!), which I NEVER get. It was very strange, just came on when I was sitting in the recliner reading. So I though, maybe I don't want to rev up my blood pressure, etc by going on the treadmill. It stopped, and I thought that was it, strange but gone. Around 1:00 pm, just after eating lunch, a little bit happened again...????/ So now I am concerned. John said to call and make an appointment with my primary, if it happens again. So far, it has not. I am NOT going to look this up Google etc,. Too much info out there and I don't want to be terrified! :(

Carolyn, great job with KPC. :). One of the KB workouts of Cathe's that I really like. Why omit combo 3, if you don't mind me asking? I can see how doing abs as part of a workout would make the calorie burn less.

Valerie, too bad about the hiking trail. Maybe by the end of summer it will be cleared out? Too bad about your husband's bike, I hope they fix it or he probably should return it.

Diane Sue, do you swim in your own pool or does the place you live in have a pool? I need to put myself and John on the diet you are helping your husband with! :). My downfall is chocolate and ice cream. If it is in the house, I eat it.

Hi to Judy & Lori,

Take care,

Deb, I am praying for you. Really odd about the nose bleed. Our community has 3 pools. Luckily, if we go early enough we can get the pool all to ourselves. Yesterday it was mid afternoon and there was a 3 women there. They left though and we were by ourselves for awhile. They are nice pools and our HOA takes good care of them. They each have a cabana with a ceiling fan, and restrooms and that sort of thing. The closest one is right by a little lake and the ducks and geese hang out just outside the fence.

I really need to go get my workout in. I kept checking to see if Kelly had put up the challenge workout for the day, but she hasn't. She has been busy with filming her two latest workouts and they just went up yesterday for pre-sale. One has a kickbox workout on it :D I just put my money in paypal so I can pre-order. I don't know why I am procrastinating. I have things I have to get out and do today and I need to clean house.

Deb, my DH used to get nose bleeds regularly for no reason. a small blood vessel inside his nose needed to be cauterized. it happened again and again, dragged on for years, I can't tell you how many things it messed up for us until he had it fixed! it was in-office procedure, unpleasant, but does not happen anymore. smart to get it checked out so you find the reason, and get it taken care of. he had it cauterized several times before it finally "stuck". he had to see an ENT guy for it.

I could never ever do keto or paleo. all foods I hate! I don't like fat, but I need, need my complex carbs. I would never give up wheat, whole grain and dairy. however, I am the first to say the same diet doesn't work for everyone. I love chocolate and ice cream too, but I am fine with them in the house. specific times when I have some. I make myself work for the reward.

the only person we saw on the trail was a trail crew guy when we were on the way out. he had a shovel and a rake. the problems were much bigger than that. He might have been there to scout the trail and see what was needed. they will need a crew, big saws. they usually don't go in until things are completely melted out. it's in wilderness so no chain saws. we will look at it later in the season, see if it got logged out.

he spent a lot for this bike. full suspension. hopefully replacing a kinked cable will take care of it. if it doesn't fix it, he will trade in. I have rear carrier on my bike. I cant use full suspension. I'm short and a lot of bike frames are too big. mountain bikes have gone up to 29 inch wheels, mine is a 27.5. I tried a 29 but it was too big. DH has a much longer torso than I do. my bike is simple, inexpensive, but a Trek. that brand works for me. they have women specific bikes, not every company makes those, so I look at those first.

This morning I checked for the days challenge workout and then went ahead and chose my own workout. I did Raw Cardio Overload wearing my 8# vest( I really like this vest that I bought as it does not ride backwards on me), 31 minutes, heart rate average 136, max 166, 2,808 steps, 210 calories, met 8.0. I then did Raw Boxing and Drills and kept the 8# vest on along with using 1# hand weights for the boxing drills, 30 minutes, heart rate average 141, max 169, 2,469 steps, met 8.5, 226 calories. I finished off with the abs from Kelly's 30 minutes to Fitness Weights dvd, 12 minutes, met 3.5, 37 calories, 21 steps. Total time was 73 minutes, 473 calories, 5,298 steps.

Valerie, my son used to have terrible nose bleeds. I remember many times where we would take the children to the movies and end up having to leave because his nose would start bleeding for no reason. He was anemic though and a skinny kid most of his life. Not anymore as an adult though and I don't think he has that problem now. Maybe because he eats. He loves to check out new foods. He was my one child that was a fight to get to eat anything but peanut butter and jelly. The doctor said let him eat it. I made him shakes and everything trying to disguise healthy additions. Iron tonics were rough getting down him when he was little.
My grandson, his son, had the same problem. They diagnosed him with idiopathicthrombocitispeniapurpa (sp) They still check his blood routinely and he is 20 now.

Today I did High Step Training, a nice circuit workout that I had not done before. My time was 69 minutes with 423 calories burned. Average heart rate was 124 and maximum heart rate was 165. There are five cycles and each cycle starts with a cardio segment followed by leg presses then a series of exercises for the various body parts. I ordered this dvd when I preordered Step Boss and I’m glad that I got it.

Deb, I skipped the combo 3 from KPC just to save a little time. It a pretty long workout with the abs included. I was bothered with nose bleeds related to my allergies for many years but it rarely happens now. I considered the procedure that Valerie mentioned, but I decided against it. I try to make sure that my nasal passages are never extremely dry which is one of the problems that I was having. It’s best to speak with your doctor to see what he thinks might be the cause.

Diane Sue, nice job with Raw Cardio Overload and Raw Boxing Drills. I never noticed the abs on 30 Minutes to Fitness Weights, but I haven’t looked at that dvd in a very long time. I don’t like eating plans that eliminate whole groups of foods. I try to limit certain things like added sugars, saturated fats, etc., but I don’t want to just cut out foods.

Hello to Valerie, Judy, and Lori.

Deb, I had a problem with nose bleeds and I had to have what Valerie's DH had. I went to the ENT and he cauterized a blood vessel in my nose. He said my problem was sinus related and might have been caused by using a nasal spray. I would see an ENT and get it checked out, but I bet it's nothing serious.

Carolyn, do you high step training advanced? I used to love doing that one. I would do the premix that did just the cardio which made a quick short intense cardio and then go back and do the entire workout. I have not done it in years. Nice that you did it. The abs on 30 minutes to fitness weights is basic crunches, reverse crunches and oblique crunch moves. It just gets where you feel the burn because she sticks with one move for 2 minutes before moving on. I guess I missed the challenge workout today. I was supposed to do Raw Core moves or the Muscle Up dvd if doing the dvds. I almost did core moves this morning, but I was thinking my workout was getting longer than I wanted and Raw Core Moves is 25 minutes. I love that one though, it uses the stability ball throughout.

Judy, that is interesting that using nasal spray could have caused the bleeding.

DH used a lot of nasal sprays, saline and lubricant sprays especially when we were in dry climates since dry air, low humidity is a factor. he had more frequent problems at high altitude and dry air. some times people have more problems in winter with dry heat and low humidity inside houses. Deb, just get it checked out so you can put it to rest. don't our minds always conjure up the most awful outcomes?

Good morning,

No workout...

Diane Sue, that pool set up sounds perfect! No pool to maintain, and it sounds like with cabanas and rest rooms, it is really convenient. Would they allow residents to reserve a pool for some special occasion, like a birthday party etc? Are Kelly's latest workouts on DVD or exclusively streaming? Glad your son grew out of that, and hope your grandson does as well..

Valerie, I am hoping that this was a "one time deal"...not like what happened with your husband. I have to say, between all the doctors, specialists I have seen, the most painful is the ENT doctor. I would rather have a pelvic exam! How does a designated trail get so bad where they need crews to clear it? Hope the bike was fixed.

Carolyn, I always like High Step Training. Like Diane Sue mentioned, I think there were 2 DVD's, I think one was called High Step Training Advanced? and the other just High Step Training?

Judy, thanks for the info. If it happens again, I will be making an appointment with my ENT.

Hi to Lori,

Take care,
