Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 6/05/2022

Good morning. Today I did P30 Yoga Strength and Flexibility stretch. That was 20 minutes and 67 calories burned. My average heart rate was 104 and maximum heart rate was 133.

Cathy, Wi-Fi issues are very frustrating and can reduce the motivation to workout. Good for you for changing plans and doing P30 Mobility instead.

Diane Sue, nice job with CDORNER Step “Queen”. I wonder if she was thinking of the Royal Jubilee celebration with that name. Having to switch to a new pulmonologist is unfortunate. I hope that you can get it sorted out for your upcoming appointment.

Hello to Valerie and Judy.

Valerie-I'm sorry about your family issues. I hope everything works out ok.

Carolyn-Great job with P30 Yoga Strength and Flexibility stretch.

Cathy-Great job with Dynamic Total Body.

Diane Sue-That's too bad about your pulmonologist. I hope you can find a new one that isn't too far away.

Today I did RWH HiiT Circuit Upper Body for 46 minutes and 270 calories burned. My average heart rate was 123 and maximum heart rate was 144. I kept the cardio blasts low impact.

Cathy, great job with Dynamic Total Body.

Valerie, sorry about the internet and phone outage. That seems like something that would be announced when it’s planned.

Waving hello to Judy and Diane Sue.

we are pretty ticked off about it. cable/internet/tv was off from later saturday until sunday night around 8 or 9 pm. it started back up earlier but service went on and off for a long time. the cable co info line kept updating and pushing the completion time back by a few more hours. clearly part of the road construction project rerouting the cable. not a word was said. we had some planned zooms, had to cancel when suddenly there was no cable, no internet and no phone service, and no storm to blame it on. really inconsiderate.

Did our regular urban trail ride this morning but didn't stop for a drink or snack and rode the 15 miles straight thru. 1 hr 5 minutes. the crowds on the trail have diminished for whatever reason. we were the only car when we started out, and only one other car when we returned. so much nicer than dodging dozens of people.

bummer on the ulmonology doc. I dislike switching doctors often. I went thru that with dermatology for a while, new person every time I went. have had the same person for a while now.

Today I did an oldie, Butts & Guts. I hadn't done that one in ages and it was fun to revisit it.

Carolyn-Great job with RWH HiiT Circuit Upper Body. That's a good one.

Valerie-Great job with your urban trail ride. I'm sorry about the internet outage. We would be upset if that happened to us.

Hi to Diane Sue & Cathy

Today, I did CDorner Low Impact Fat Burning Cardio +dumbbells, 42 minutes, heart rate 119/162, 193 calories, 3,822 steps. I have done this one before. She had it posted a couple of days ago, but it is an older one. I think my calories and avg heart rate should have been higher. For some reason the first 20 minutes I kept looking at my Garmin and my heart rate was in the 80's and 90's. I tried wiping it off and putting it back on and that did not help. So next I tried to sync it by clicking on the watch on the app and it just kept spinning. I have done this in the past and it usually will right itself. Anyway, I went in and out of the app and then it did a sync and my HR went up. The weight work was boxing moves with 2# and some other moves. Two segments like that. I adjusted the moves for me. I then did PT exercises 18 minutes (actual 25 minutes as I forgot to start my watch) 36 calories heart rate 80/109. I finished with Raw athletic stretch. Also did some extra rolling and upper stretching, 31 minutes, heart rate 68/81.
Total time was 92 minutes, 261 calories, 3,822 steps for the cardio as I did not check on the other.
I had a lot of pain in my neck yesterday. Today it is mostly all on the left side where all of the other pain has been recently. I think it is inflammation and a nerve because when I turn my head or move a certain way, it hurts from the neck down to the scapular area and stings. Makes me wince. So, icing and stuff and trying to avoid aggravating the area. I did not do the weighted rows today when doing PT. I may sit in the whirlpool tub for a while before I go to bed.

Carolyn, yes, she was thinking of the Queen. She was doing curtsy's like you were doing it in front of royalty. Nice work with P30 Flow. I really like a lot of the moves in these. I do have a bit of problem with too much time on my hands though so some of those down dogs are more from me carefully getting into position without it being a down dog up dog thing where I am pushing off from a push up. It does not feel good on the shoulders and problem areas. I still get a good stretch though. Nice work with RWH today as well.
I am hoping I can get that appointment worked out. There is a doctor that the one leaving has on her recommendation list that is a DO and I looked at him before I picked the last one when researching. He has been there for over 40 years though, so wondering how long he will be there. Anyway, I was looking over his stuff and he does work out of an office close to me as well as at the heart hospital which is some distance away. That would work out a bit better if I can get the test done at the heart hospital and then see him closer. If that works anyway.

Cathy, is dynamic total body a live workout?

Valerie, I detest those power outages. Nice that you still got in a workout. If it was planned they really should let you know. I do get phone notifications from our power company if there is a power outage that is unplanned, and time span. I don't think I have experienced a planned one though.
Thinking about it, we did have some when I was doing virtual school which was really annoying. I had enough problems with zoom anyway. Sorry you had the headache of all of that. I bet it was nice not having lots of people around when you went out for your ride.
I hate changing doctors when I am comfortable with the ones I have. Plus I often wonder if they even read records thoroughly. By what my original doctor had said, this next visit should have been my last unless changes in the nodules. Switching doctors has me worried I will be going more. This one that is leaving told me I had several nodules which I thought I had one that they were watching. My primary care has been there for so many years and my daughter's worked with her before she bought out the office. So I have been seeing the same doctors in that office since my children were young. The only thing is she is the last of those that were there originally. My husband thinks I should find someone close, but I don't want to find someone else.

Judy, nice work with Butts and Guts. There really are some great older workouts that I used to do over and over. I should try revisiting some. It seems every time I think I am going to I just get up and turn on my subscriptions and it seems easier than getting out the dvd.

Well, I won’t be working out for a few days. I had low back discomfort for a few days which has developed into pain in my hip, thigh, and down to my knee. I am hobbling around the house very carefully, alternating heat and ice and taking Tylenol. I think that yesterday’s cardio aggravated whatever was going on.

Valerie, nice and with the urban ride.

Judy, great job with Butts and Guts. I had planned to do that one today, but obviously that won’t be happening. Butts and Guts was one of the first Cathe workouts that I purchased.

Diane Sue, great job with CDORNER Low Impact Cardio +Weights and your PT exercises.

Hello to Cathy. Have a wonderful day everyone.

Carolyn-I'm sorry about your pain. I've dealt with low back and hip problems and I know how painful they can be. I hope you feel better soon.

we did a ski this morning, not very good. the area has been recently snowmobiled and is very rough. probably our last ski this year. there is a lot of snow yet, solid snow after about 3800 feet. just not very good snow! snowmobilers are such damn slobs. beer cans and trash. sad and disgusting. we did see a lot of bear tracks from earlier this morning a mamma bear and a cub. very pretty day out but sort of a let down with conditions so difficult.

carolyn does sciatica sound like what that might be? I've never had it but it sounds like you are doing all the right things to help it get better.

diane sue we didnt have a general power out which was good but just the cable which for us is the internet, TV and land line. I can use the cell so not exactly isolated and switch it from wi fi to data. still, we are a small limited area where the outage took place, and it would not have been hard to notify us of it ahead of time. but no, as usual, cable companies do not care much about their customers.

I never liked Butts and Guts much although I have it and I used to do it sometimes.

Cathe Perfect Pump Lower Body with the extended stretch, 37 minutes, 89 calories, Heart rate 94/120. I also did the lower body bonus 8 minutes, 22 calories, heart rate 91/105. I finished with Coffey Fit Raw 5 Day strength stretch, 35 minutes, heart rate 78/93, 35 calories. Total time was 80 minutes, 141 calories. I did not feel like doing cardio today. Too little sleep and thunderstorms hit. Power went off and on and the breaker flipped on part of our house. I had got up with my dog and sat in the recliner sleeping. The recliner would not move so I had to climb out to go find which switch. Couldn't go back to sleep. My neck hurts and I really wasn't wanting to bounce around the room. I used mostly 15# dumbbells today which is about half what I used to use for those moves.

Carolyn, I hope that you get the pain under control. I am sorry you cannot go on with the rotation you were doing for a few days.

Valerie, we get the internet loss off and on as well. Being in a new housing area, they seem to always be doing something. I am sorry that the skiing was not great. I never understand why people cannot pick up their trash.

Playing catch up. Monday I ended up not doing anything as Nick had an early appointment. Yesterday I did Boxing Hiit Express. Nick kills me, because his bed is in the main area of the basement that is finished. I can go down there, turn on the ceiling lights, get out my equipment, workout and he's still asleep. I'm like 5-6' from his bed. LOL I wake up at the slightest noise. And he's done it every day that I've worked out. Today I did Bun Burners Barre and Ball. Hopefully, I can walk tomorrow. First 20 minutes are no equipment and then barre and then ball. Won't be a workout tomorrow as I shop. Then Nick and I head for the airport at 4:30. Crossing everything that his flight is on time. Planning to come home cross country and avoid the detour between the airport and highway. We already set up his flight home at Christmas and once he graduates in May he'll only be able to come home on vacation time. No idea where he'll end up.

Valerie sorry to hear about your internet problems. We've been lucky the last couple outages that they weren't when DH was working. Ours are rarely ever internet (knocked on wood) but actual power outages. All outages are a huge pain. Sorry to hear that your skiing is done for the year. Totally agree on the snowmobilers.

Carolyn I'm sorry to hear about your pain. I hope it resolves soon. It's been a long time since I did all of Butts and Guts. There's a premix I like and I do like both the core routines from that one.

Diane Sue I hope you are able to find a new doctor that you like. The doctor the boys and I see is in his mid-70's and I've been holding my breath for years. He's one of those people though who look and act far younger than they actually are. I also still see the eye doctor I started seeing in the early 80's and he's at least a few years older than I am! So sorry that you too are having so much pain and dealing with power outages.

Good afternoon. I’m still having the hip/thigh/knee pain. It took me a while to find a comfortable sleeping position last night. I ended up with my small pillow under my knee for slight elevation and another pillow under my upper body. I was more comfortable when not lying flat on the bed.

Valerie, I thought about sciatica, but I don’t have the sharp nerve twinges that I associate with it. The leg pain is down the outside of my thigh and seems more like a soft tissue inflammation.

Diane Sue, great job with Perfect Pump Lower Body and the Extended Stretch. I often do that premix since the stretch is short but effective.

Cathy, great job with Boxing HiiT Express and Bun Burners Barre and Ball. That’s amazing that your son could sleep through your workout.

Hello to Judy.

Did another community trail ride this morning 1 hr 15 minutes.
I have just spent the last 45 min calling Bozeman home depot. my call has been dopped, rang for 10 minutes and then got a busy signal, and on and on. l need to ask customer service a question, info is not on the web site. no one answers phones! not hopeful. tried all listed numbers, nothing but endless ringing or busy signals. bizarre.
Cathy that is crazy he can sleep thru that. I never could sleep thru noise or motion. I cannot sleep in cars, planes, etc. can't even sleep in a quiet bed sometimes. the slightest disturbance wakes me up. I used to be a better sleeper, but nothing like that! sleeping that soundly has its benefits and drawbacks.

carolyn hope you figure out what that is. sounds like you are doing proper non medical measures to help it heal. iliotibial band issues maybe?

Today I ran/walked a little over 4 miles. I did intervals of running with walk breaks in between. I plan on doing a little upper body work tonight, maybe a muscle meltdown.

Carolyn-I'm sorry that you are still having pain. It does sound like it could be iliotibial band, like Valerie mentioned. I hope it heals quickly.

Valerie-Nice ride! That's too bad that you can't reach your home depot. They are usually pretty good about answering the phones at mine so maybe they are having a technical issue or something at the Bozeman one.

Cathy-great job with Boxing HiiT Express and Bun Burners Barre and Ball.

Diane Sue-Great job with Perfect Pump Lower Body and the Coffeyfit Raw stretch.

Judy good to know HD hasn't instituted some kind of " no telephone" policy. it was bizarre. we will delay checking until we go to MT next time. we need a back up refrigerator for the garage. I do not trust what I see online is accurate for each store's items in stock. we need to pick it up ourselves since no one delivers to our zip. usyally HD has more appliances than Lowes. I dont want a fancy one, just basic but they were in such short supply for the last year or so that I dont trust driving to the store and picking one up on the spot.

off to do some weights. very wet day here.

Valerie, you're right not to trust the online quantity for what is actually in stock. If it shows several in stock they probably do have it but best to check before going.
