Hi all,

I did a Cardio Coach this morning, and will be leaving soon for an agility match with Keegan. The weather is beautiful today, so hope to get some gardening in this afternoon, if I still have some energy left.

Garance, happy vacuuming!

Joan, how are you doing?

Valerie, Josie, Cathy, hope you are all having a good weekend! :)

Hi Deb and any later posters--

This morning I did P-57 vol. 2. Gosh, the abs on this one are awful.

I'm going flower shopping this afternoon for annuals, and I hope to get some planting done. Going to see Bridesmaids tonight.

Tomorrow we're having MIL and FIL over for dinner. I'm making a potato gratin and haricots verts to go with our steaks, and a lemon mousse for dessert. tzatziki and hummus with black olives with pita bread for hors d'oeuvres.

How did your surgery go, Joan?

ttfn

Yes, Joan, check in and let us know you are OK.

Went on a bike ride today, 25 or so miles. my odometer got bumped and didn't record but it's one of our usual rides. even today, my nose was running so much I had to stop several times to clear out. boy, I'll be glad when I'm normal again. did some yard work yesterday. but my jeans are tight again , so I don't need the scale to tell me I put a couple pounds back on. I'd weigh 2 tons if I didn't exercise.

we are getting started on planning a bathroom remodel. DH wants to do it ourselves. good in some ways, not in others. I've looked and there are really not any mid priced options. I didn't want tile/grout again, but it's pretty much the only choice. stone or synthetic stone is very expensive, and I don't like the acrylic stuff much. will shoot for bigger tile, less grout. I guess the grout is better now and doesn't get black and disgusting but I have a bad attitude about it. we've done tile/grout before so it shouldn't be too bad. I'm struggling with colors. we have a pink problem... dusty rose was popular when we did the original and all my stuff goes with it, and not current color trends.

Hey all,

A good weekend so far, no rain, some sun, some clouds, but at leat it is dry. Went to class yesterday, then met my friend and cousin for lunch. At the agility match today Keegan actually behaved! It's amazing what one of those rotissiere chickens will do. I brought some to keep his attention and it worked. The little devil.

Garance, hope you get to plant while the weather cooperates...I heard the review of Bridesmaids and it's supposed to be pretty funny.

Valerie, I am the same way with a runny nose, even when I don't have a cold. For some reason, any hard exercise makes my nose run. I always have to have a hankie tucked into my shorts or sweat pants. Our bathroom was all pink, and I had all burgundy towels etc. I couldn't wait to get rid of them and get a new color. Most of them are now being used for dog bath towels or crate liners. We got 13 inch tiles, with "stain free" grout. I don't think there is such a thing, but at least there is less grout. We had the tub/shower area done in a nice laminate with built in shampoo caddy etc, with a nice trim on top. No grout there at all...YaY! are you gutting the whole thing or just updating?

Back to reading, love the weekends!

Good evening all,

Surgery went ok Thursday. I only had one gallstone that was about 2 inches in diameter. Everyone kept saying you must feel so much better. I said no I don't now I hurt and before I didn't. I didn't get to eat until 1pm on Friday. Surgeon thought something in there was inflamed so I had to have ct scan Friday morning. I will get results on Tuesday I guess. He was supposed to get them on Friday afternoon. They were able to call to say they had the wrong ins. info that afternoon but of course that was more important than the results.

I hadn't realized that the hardest thing would be getting up and down out of bed.

I was feeling better and sun is shining today so I went outside to supervise dh putting in new trellis. It is metal and very heavy. Unfortunately he lost control of it and knocked me on the head. Now I have a big lump and a headache.

Happy Memorial Day!!

A KCM Conditioning workout on tap,

then lots of weeding and hopefully planting.

Joan, you poor thing! Just what you needed, a knock on the head after surgery. Just rest, you need to get ready for Disney.

Have a great "rest of the weekend" and take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did both of KCM's TLC workouts with 1 lb. gloves. Worked up quite a sweat because it's so warm and humid today.

Gee, Joan, sorry you are feeling so lousy. Not fair to follow up an operation with a clunk on the head. I hope you can be a lady of leisure until your trip.

Deb, Bridesmaids was alternately painful and hilariously funny. The main character is having such a rough time with her love life, her roommates, her business which went under, her broken down car, that it's very hard to be utterly delirious with joy for her best friend who is getting married. She is also in competition with another bridesmaid who is a trophy wife who wants to take over everything. I thought there were a few places in the film that began to move toward an over-the-top SNL sketch, but overall, two thumbs up. The funniest episodes were a luncheon followed by trying on dresses at a veddy, veddy exclusive bridal shop. Dressed in all that finery, they were struck by food poisoning, and it was not pretty! The second episode was on a plane to Las Vegas for a bachelorette party where the main character is afraid of flying and takes tranquilizers with scotch and gets everyone thrown off the plane in Wyoming.

It's a good thing I did both of those TLC workouts, because I kept licking up the extras from the lemon mousse I made this morning. MMMMMM!

Valerie, the new grout is really great. We have it in our kitchen, and no signs of stains after 5 years. It's some kind of acrylic I think.

Enjoy your holiday, everyone!

Good morning!

We had a great weekend, no rain, lots of things to do and I actually almost finished weeding and mulching the flower bed...just a bit more to go.

No workout today, I had to give my lower back a rest from yesterday. I could barely get up from a sitting position. Feels great now, so hopefully back on track tomorrow.

Garance, what do you use to clean that grout? I only have it on a small bathroom floor and it does not look at bright and new as it did when first installed. It is supposed to be a very light almost grey/white, and it is starting to yellow. I really like KCM's Conditioning workout in this series. I did it yesterday with 1 lb gloves on.

Joan, Hope you are feeling a little better. How many incisions did they do? DH had 5 small incisions, and that was his problem. He hurt all over.

Off to get more coffee and start to get ready for work...ugh....

Take care,

just a quick check in, more later.

I have tile lots of places but the only place it's been awful is the master shower. and it looks like we'll be replacing it with new & improved grout. will use bigger tiles so less of it, and one of the new stain free grouts. DH wants to do this project ourselves ( groan) so we will be inching along. we did the master in almond fixtures and almond and dusty rose tiles. My fault, I liked the color and didn't realize it would be so short lived. I had burgundy and dusty rose towels. It is a big room and really did look nice at the time , not "too girly" at all but that color has disappeared long ago and I need to go with something that doesn't clash with almond. it's quite neutral but anything too yellowish won't look right. I dislike yellow! we are doing the shower, tile around the jetted tub and the sink counter top. probably replacing the sinks and at the end, the floor covering. it's carpet right now, probably new carpet in the master and a hard surface in much of the rest of the upstairs.
Off to yoga.

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did both of KCM's Split Sessions (60 min.).

Deb, I just use diluted Mr. Clean. I haven't seen any change in the color of the grout, which is a light green. We have Italian tiles with patterns and veins of green in them, and out counters are soapstone with a lot of green vein in them. I agree that the weather has been super-nice. Gosh, though, Max is really shedding now from the warm weather. Good thing I bought a new vacuum or we would have a lot of floating black hair tuffets.

Valerie, would something in aqua work for you? I don't know--it might look a little Southwestern with the almond color. Good luck on the remodel. Always a hassle when diy.

Josie, I am still on the fence on the new Zumba collection, but if I buy, I will let you know about the toning sticks. They are only 1 lb. with the purchase of the dvds. At the Zumba website, they have 2.5 lb. toning sticks, but they are 25 dollars.

Just a little bit of work I must do this afternoon (typing up student interviews), so I can do some of my own work after that. Tra la!

Lynda, I've learned my lesson on colors. I love aqua but I'm going very neutral on my selections. staying with beige/taupe natural looking stone. as long as I don't trend too much toward gold/yellow I will be OK ... colors will come from towels, accessories. we'll be using big tiles, some 12 " and 6 inch to minimize the grout in the shower. all the other areas have never discolored. even our guest bathroom, the tile & grout are fine but the one we use daily, blech. Ugly. and we have to discover what kind of backer board the builder used. hopefully concrete board but we won't know til we tear open the wall.

Joan, that is so funny... when ever I do projects with DH, I'm always the one who gets thumped.... he gets so focused on what he's doing that anyone working with him ... beware... they will be the one who gets hit with the hammer, or gets the door slammed on their hands. My injuries have been LEGENDARY. he's not exactly careless, he never gets hurt, but he simply doesn't look where the bricks he's sliding end up.

Major garden day yesterday... major. not a formal workout but we WORKED OUT. got a lot done. always more to do though.

I put Bridesmaids on my queue a while ago. I'm hoping it isn't too raunchy... In theaters I miss 90% of the dialogue, but at home with just 2 of us, comedy isn't always as funny as it is with a bunch of people all laughing.
Deb, I love the little push up and sit up guys!.

Just a little freaked right now. Surgeon's office just called and they asked a gastroenterologist(sp) to work me in Thursday morning. That can't be good.

Joan

Joan, hope it's nothing and everyone is just being super careful. Everything that isn't textbook normal needs to be checked out. that kind of message would put everyone off balance, though. Hope it's nothing but docs being careful.

Morning...

Very tired today, Keegan got DH up around 3:30 to go out, I didn't hear them until they came back, and then I could not go back to sleep for about an hour. Needless to say, no workout.

Well shower and breakfast done. It is so humid here, I am sweating up a storm. At least it's not raining. Keegan goes to the groomer today, DH drops him off at 10:30 on his way to the office, and I pick him up after work. The little bugger has us trained all right.

I drempt about Kelsey last night, I sure miss her.

Garance, I will try the diluted Mr Clean idea on mine. It is making me really angry. It costs so much and it should look better than it does. I went on the mfg site and it said to use a neutral PH soap to clean it. What would that be?

Valerie, that is why I stuck with white for my fixtures, with brushed nickel faucets etc. The floor is even a patterned white, but I had the walls done is a very light grey, it almost looks like a light blue/grey. All the wood work is white, and I got dark blue ( almost but not quite navy) towels etc. We decided on a curtain instead of doors, I was so sick of cleaning doors, so that helps in the color scheme. I am glad that when I get sick of blue/grey, I can go to anything, just by painting and changing towels, pics on the wall etc.

Joan, I hope everything is ok. DH had the same thing happen when he got his out. Like Valerie said, they are very cautious.

Hi to Josie and Cathy,

Take care,

Did my plan yesterday & was active all day, then 35 on the treadmill and coremax 1. a fairly light dinner. finally no runny nose.
today we're renting a stump grinder to finish off a huge stump left over from the tree we had taken down last winter. sounds like fun, huh? the stump is at least 5' in diameter so the stump grinder is to mow it down so we can pile some dirt on it and plant over it. these are the kind of projects where DH gets so focused on what he's doing that he runs me over with a tractor or something. gotta be careful.

I like the glass shower doors even if they get spotted. there's always an overlap section that can't be reached unless you take the handles off, so not simple. Deb, I love those colors! I will be so glad to get done with our existing carpet. It's a pinkish beige, extremely popular 25 yrs ago, but so unpopular now. it is hard to judge what will look nice but I'm leaning toward the "builder beige" and neutrals. I also like brushed nickel and will try to use it. the countertop is formica and I want to upgrade to a solid surface with undermount sinks. I absolutely hate the free standing sink basins that are so popular now. so silly and nonfunctional looking. talk about something that will date a room!
I don't want to replace the jetted tub and almond color is neutral by itself.. it's all the other pinkish colors I used around it that make it look pink. the room is extremely bright with huge windows and a skylight. I've read very good reviews of the kind of tile I looked at from people who used it for shower walls. This is a long term project, not even sure we'll start right away. if the weather turns decent ( ???) the room is very hot and sunny to work in.

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did Dancetonic (60 min.).

Deb, my guess is that a Ph neutral soap would be ammonia free. But I am no expert on such things. Know any chemists? Very humid here today as well. Cold front coming in will bring a halt to this unseasonably warm weather--only going up to 65 tomorrow.

Joan, hope everything is okay. I would be irritated if the surgeon didn't tell me why s/he decided to bring in a gastroenterologist.

Valerie--there are a couple slightly raunchy scenes involving a really icky boyfriend played by Jon Hamm. I say they had to be raunchy to get a complete display of how awful that relationship is meant to be. Wonderful when she finally decides to rid herself of him.

Hi to Josie and Cathy!

Good morning,

Slept well, but did not get up to do a workout, back to being lazy I guess. It is only going to be in the mid 60's today, strange weather that's for sure. We had some high winds yesterday, and last night. Some power outages reported. I guess there is a hurricane possibility in the Northeast?

Valerie, glad you are feeling better. That stump project sounds daunting! When you say free standing sink basins, are those the ones that look like someone put a big bowl on the counter and left it there? I agree with you, they look ok now, but would you like it in 5 years? I like the basics, our house is very traditional, center entrance type, french doors between rooms etc. so we went with a large pedestal sink, very old looking stuff. I had a pink bathroom in my apartment that I was in for 16 years, then a pink bathroom here for 25 years, so yeah, sick of pink.

Garance, I guess I can Google to find neutral PH cleaners or whatever. I think it was called epoxy grout, so maybe I can start to research that.

Joan, let us know how things go today.

Take care,

Yeah Deb, those sinks that look like someone set a big dog bowl on the counter! I hate those! I want undermount plain sinks with solid surface countertop. the laminate one is still in good shape but it's kind of a peachy pink so it will need to go. we have a place near here that recycles countertops/fixtures so someone else can maybe use it. can't use laminate with a undermount.

Epoxy grout is one of the new products that supposedly resists mildew etc. the guy at the hardware place showed us that, and another grout system.. used a special liquid to liquify the grout.... I'd try looking at that to see how to clean it.

we are still in winter. May was one of the coldest and wettest on record here the snow is still down low... the worst spring I can remember. 2010 was bad and 2011 is even worse. rained all day yesterday. we looked at the stump grinder yesterday, decided it wouldn't maneuver in the spot we needed it, Decided to bury what's left of the stump and let ground cover grow over it. easier, cheaper, nature will eventually decompose the stump. it was cut to ground level, maybe even a little below.

Still raining today. the good news is friday sat & sun are supposed to be dry and warm 70-maybe 80 degrees. a shock to the system!

Watched The Hangover last night, or most of it. yuck. just stupid, not funny. I don't think I've lost my sense of humor but what passes for funny these days, is NOT funny. someone at work gave DH their copy so we didn't rent it. DH didn't like it either, he was FF-ing it and I gave up and went to bed to read.

Did disk 24, done with meso 2, and also coremax 2. went to yoga this morning and will do cardio sometime today.

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy and Valerie--

This morning I did Xtend Barre (55 min.).

So yesterday it was 90 degrees and so humid you'd start sweating if you crinkled your nose. Today, it's 50 degrees, the wind is howling. Yesterday, about 5:30, we had a zinger of a thunderstorm, and despite my efforts to get everything shut, a lot of water came in--nothing disastrous, but a big wipe-up job in the entranceway. At least we did not get the tornado that ripped through Springfield. I am pretty sure the awful weather is due to climate change. I keep telling DH that I'm surprised that the scam artist-rapture-nut-end-of-the-world guy should be taking credit for all of the natural disasters and wars. I mean, just because he didn't get transported instantly to heaven doesn't mean that these aren't the end of days.

Epoxy grout--yep, that's what we have. Love the stuff.

Hangover was just okay. Not as funny as the hype for it would suggest.

Must. Do. Some. Writing.

I'm back. Not as long a wait as they had implied and the doctor did take time to explain everything. He thinks I must have Crohns disease. An area of the large intestine was inflamed and my body must have protected itself by encasing it. The part I really didn't understand but didn't care to know was how one part of the intestine reconnected to another part because it does work. It's a good thing I didn't have the colonoscopy. He said I have fissures and he doesn't want to do a colonoscopy and puncture a hole between large and small intestines and then I would have problems. I have to go for another 2 hour test after vacation.

Joan
