Good morning,

Nice day yesterday, a little on the cool side, but still very spring like. We saw the play yesterday afternoon. It's called "She Loves Me". It was the play that was the basis for the movie " The Shop Around the Corner", and "You've Got Mail".

Valerie, I hear you on trying to get people to exercise, if they are not ready, they won't do it. What do you do with chick manure?

Josie, what type of place do you and your DH go to for dancing?

Lori, that sounds like a great enhancement to Travel Fit! I really wish Cathe would come out with a new all band workout. You have done so great with the 21 DF. The hardest part is the planning ahead, and making sure you have good food in the house.

DB, you are making me want to pull out Pure Strength again. Maybe do a rotation of that when done with STS.

Hi to Lynda, Judy and Dawn,

Off to the Southtowns Obedience club to one of their matches this morning. Trying to get Kylee to a different place...she is great at our club, but when she has to perform somewhere new, she gets all nervous and weird.

Take care,

Still here for some of the day. yesterday I did a 35 min premix spin from pedal power, then I did bi's and tris. YES!!! I did a shorter premix so only once thru everything. I went light on weight using 5's, 8's and a 12. I am a tiny little bit minor achy this morning but in all the right places. shoulder is fine!! not a twinge in the trouble area. I will continue to work my way back up slowly. possibly try chest, back shoulders later this week. we will be riding and hiking between now and Thursday while camping.

I cannot say(!!!) what a relief this was. as I was doing it I thought it was very easy, nothing hurt, and nothing felt clicky and out of place like it did for so long. I will be cautious about over doing it in my eagerness to get back to full

Deb, we used a mulch last spring and the year before but it was not prepared 'hot" enough and I got a major influx of weeds from it. chicken manure is bagged in 1 sq ft bags and relatively easy to carry around and put where you want, as compared to an open load of manure in the back of a truck.

Can someone tell me how to send a PM these days? I used to do it and since the newer format I can't see how to do it. TIA.

Meant this as part of the above post but some kind of keystrike screw up.

Deb ....if he didn't TALK about wanting to get in shape all the time, we'd leave him alone... but he keeps talking about it asking for suggestions etc. and then they want to hike or ride with us but aren't up to doing anything, even minor. he needs to lose weight and control his T2 diabetes, and knows exercise will help. we try to assist but he's a slacker after a day or two. he was doing well for a bit but has backslid. I'm too ( not the right term) "investment" motivated...if I spent that much on a bike I'd "guilt" myself into using it often just to get my money's worth.

Hi everyone!

This morning I did BarreAmped Bootcamp (70:00). Almost finished the stretch.

Deb, that looks like a lovely place for a weekend getaway. Good luck with Kylee today! I will be planting my State Fair zinnias this afternoon before it rains tomorrow. Chicken manure is great! DH's pastures where they range are being fertilized and you can really see how green the grass gets. The first batch is out there now, and last week it was a new batch of chicks.

Valerie, I can't remember either how to pm. I thought you just tapped on the avatar, but that didn't work. It sounds like you are very carefully getting back into weights. I agree with you about "investment." When I buy a new dvd, I try to use it often enough to make the purchase worthwhile. I am currently looking at my tower and wondering whether to get rid of it, because I sold STS, which was the principal reason why I bought it in the first place. Have a great trip next week!

Josie, I love to dance too. I haven't yet tried that film, but I still want to take a look because DH was a warehouse manager for an artists' studio in the 80s in NYC and had some interesting confrontations with mafia run garbage haulers. It was tricky because there was a lot of chemical stuff and he was afraid the mafia haulers were just dumping the stuff in the Hudson or something. The custodian of the bldg., Salvatore, warned him many times to just leave things be, and he would wipe his hands back and forth, up and down.

Lori, I would like another band workout too, and it sounds like you have put together a good mix with cardio intervals. Congrats on the weight loss, too!

Hi to Deb2, Dawn, and Judy!

I found something called 'conversation" and sent you my email address Lori.....at least I think I did!. not quite sure how I got to it. used to be easy thru the avatar but as Lynda, said, doesn't work that way now. Hopefully I didn't post my email address on some big public spot where I'll be spammed and hacked to pieces.

Lol! Valerie!! I did get your email and will send out the info in the morning. Awesome to hear your shoulder is doing well. Mine have been great also. I am doing STS but very careful with the weight I select.

Today was beautiful. Kind of had a very relaxing day. Made the usual Sunday breakfast. DS and DGF came by which is always nice. Then we just kind of hung out on the outside patio and chatted. Took chester for a nice walk and he went for a really long swim. Had a hard time getting him out. Can't blame him! DH is talkimg about working out but I may pass since I am enjoing a margarita at the moment. :)

My son gave me a nice compliment this morning. When he saw me he said "Wow, you are looking buffed!!" Loved it. I guess losing the layer of fat I had has made my hard earned muscles finally show!

Deb...good luck with Kylee today! Yes I too wish Cathe would do another band workout and even suggested a live travel fit. We can only hope.

Lynda...great job on the BarreAmped. I read she has another dvd that will be coming out towards the end of the year. I would still be interested in the tower if you would plan to get rid of it. I am sure I would find some use for it. Do you not use it for Barre work?

Hi to Josie, Judy, Deb2 (I like this!) and Dawn!

Rest day today, but it was so nice that I took a 2 mile walk around the area. And it was even nicer in the evening, so I watched the sunset from my patio with a glass of wine!

Lori - Your margarita sounds good! What a nice compliment from your son. I've been with this Meetup group for a couple of years, but they've been doing the coffee & conversation for about a year now. We meet at Corner Bakery every two weeks (some regulars and always some new people) and we can talk without any of the noise that happens at restaurants or bars. It's hard to meet new people in my age group, but there are a lot of people in that same situation. This just helps us find each other a little easier.

Lynda- Your comments about your husband's job could almost be an HBO series! A little scary, though.

Valerie - Great that your workout didn't aggravate anything. It sounds like you're working your way back at the right pace for you.

Deb- I've only done the kickboxing in CTX and Timesaver. I didn't like it at first, but now I like how I can get in some low impact cardio and feel like a badass at the same time!

Hi to Deb2, Josie & Judy!

Good morning,

it's 68 degrees here right now...( not quite 5 am)....it will be a scorcher today. I don't remember this type of warm weather in May.

Valerie, great news about your shoulder! I think if we used chicken manure, the dogs would just love rolling in it...ugh! Agree with the "guilt" in spending a lot on something and then not using it.

Lynda, wow, interesting about your DH and the job in NYC....those are the types of things you think are only in movies, but actually know that they are really going on in places. Even the taxis in NYC are controlled, and that is by the city!

Lori, such a nice comment by your DS! You are doing great on the DF program! Yay for Chester getting a nice swim in...he must be feeling better too.

Dawn, that's great that you have a regular get together. Was this Meet UP group some sort of organization that you joined? I also like meeting in a place where they let you stay and you can actually hear yourselves!

Busy day today, I have to make the dog's food, so we have enough for the trip, errands, HouseMax....etc etc. Then class tonight.

Hi to Judy, Josie & Deb2

Take care,

XTrain Bis and Tris today, and I added the 100 rep tricep extension challenge.
Deb - I found the group I get together with on meetup.com. They have groups for just about every possible interest you could think of.
It looks like a perfect day today. I'm letting my hair dry while I'm having coffee on the patio and might get my bike out later. I'm just a casual bike rider.
Hi to everyone, and hope your day goes well.

Hi everyone!

This morning I did both RWH low impact workouts (50:08).

My younger son from Boston was here for the weekend, so we went out for dinner on Saturday night to an Indian restaurant. Really good! He looks good. He now has a golf membership at the local golf course, so he will probably be here a lot of weekends.

My dear FIL had a stroke last Wednesday on his and MIL's drive back from Florida. We received a call at 3:30 in the morning asking for medical information because he can't have an MRI--metal in one of his ears (stapes). He is still in the hospital in Charleston S.C. and the major effect of the stroke is 'relatively' minor--peripheral vision problems and some mental confusion, slowness--but this will probably be life-changing for both of them unless the problems gradually go away from the bleeding in the brain. They are waiting for absorption of all the blood apparently. He is 90 years old, but was still playing golf, still driving, gardening. DH is on the phone with his mom for long sessions, and one of the early problems was that she only had phone service in their car (ONSTAR), but no actual cell phone, and of course, no computers. DH's brother, who just came home from his daughter's college graduation from Dickinson, was going to fly down there and drive them home, but they are keeping him in the hospital a bit longer. This is when DH misses his sister so much. Not sure how all of this will play out. FIL and MIL had 3 graduations (one college, two high school) to go to for nieces and will miss all of them.

Put in a bunch of annuals yesterday and I'm hoping for some rain because everything is so dry and so slow to bloom.

Lori, I don't know if you are keeping up with GOT, but last night's episode was a bit stomach-churning at the end. I wish Reek would go back to being Theon! Nice compliment from your son!

Dawn, yes, it would have been a good HBO series. DH was really the only one who spoke English very well in this warehouse. The artists were all Chinese, Japanese, or Korean and doing work for an Oriental export-import firm in antiques and restoration and hand-painted wallpaper (a big order from Nancy Reagan in the White House), lacquer tables, etc. DH had to communicate with them, plus two couriers, Mario and Carlos, one of them very lazy and the other always trying to find a way to gamble or make money on the side. We are still very good friends with two Japanese artists who have careers independently of the work they did for the firm. The place sounded like a loony bin to me, because the artists didn't get along with one another, and Mario and Carlos were constantly bickering. And then there was Salvatore, the Italian custodian, with all of his hand gestures substituting for language.

Deb, I bet Kylee and Keegan would EAT the chicken manure. Max loves the stuff. It's turkey manure he likes to roll in. Hah!

Good evening ladies!

Today at lunch we did Barre Fix. This is such an intense little workout. I am in my last week of STS meso 1 so tonight was back, chest, bis. I would be ok if I never do another pushup again! I leave for the Cape Thursday morning so need to get the last two in before I leave.

Lynda...I am so sorry to hear about your FIL. Very sad. Hope he is upand about soon. Hard to believe he is still driving! I can see how your DH misses his sister diring difficult times like this. I am most certainly following GOT. My friend loaned me her HBO now password and I added her to my Amazon prime so we are both happy. I have not watched Sunday's eposode. Going to the Cape with my best friend Christopher and my DS and his DGF. I have been best friends with Christopher since we were 5 years old. We all get along so well and we all watch GOT so we plan to watch yesterdays and this sundays over the weekend. I have a little mini projector that I hook up to my Ipad and will bring it to use. It is really cool and perfect when you do not have a large TV. Lol only I would have something like" this!

Deb...when do you leave for your trip? Have a great time! I forgot you make the dog food for your doggies! Boy we love our pets don't we!

Dawn...great job on the workout. Not sure I ever completed the hundred rep tris. I bet that was really tough. I have done the 100 bis and hip thrusts and have been able to get thru. That's great that web site is available.

Deb2...how are the WB workouts going? I think I have created my perfect travel fit. I always felt I needed more cardio than what she does through out the workout. Now it's a non issue!

Hi to Judy, Josie and Valerie!

Good morning,

Nice day yesterday, it wasn't too hot. I hope the weather holds out for our trip this coming weekend.

Dawn, ahhh...coffee on the patio, my favorite thing to do. That's great about the group..what are the things that brought this group together?

Lynda, so sorry about your FIL. Glad it was relatively minor, but I know how worried you and DH must be, it's so hard when you are at a distance and want to be there to help. Keeping him in my thoughts and prayers.

Lori, do you have the 21 DF Extreme? I don't remember a barre workout in my package, unless it was an add on that I didn't order. I know I only got the basic package. A mini projector that hooks up to your iPad? Yep, I would expect no less from you! LOL :). I didn't know you could add people to your Prime membership....I have to look into that for John. I will be bringing the Travel Fit DVD ( yes the old fashioned one! :)), to the cabin, there is a TV and DVD player.

What did everyone think of the ending of The Good Wife? I know I will miss Kalinda...she was a big part of all the plots and storylines.

Hi to Valerie, Josie, Judy, Deb2,

Take care,

Hi everyone!

This morning I did ch, sh, tris (39:30).

We had a power outage here, but we now have a big generator that covers everything, so I could work out. More thunderstorms expected this afternoon.

Deb, I will miss Kalinda as well. The cliffhanger, of course, is whether she will take on this new, most unlikely, partner and really start her own firm. Lockhart, Agos, et al appear to be falling apart. The weather looks pretty good for the weekend. DH has his first local farmer's market this weekend, so I hope the weather is mild. A great time for people to buy something to grill.

Lori, FIL WAS driving. Without peripheral vision he won't be driving anymore unless it comes back. Let me know what you think of this latest episode of GOT. There are so many plots it's hard to keep them all straight, but the ending on this last episode was really icky.

Dawn, yes, what brought your group together?

Good evening ladies!

Today with the ladies we did Upper Fix. We will not be working out the rest of the week due to everyone's schedules. I leave for the Cape Thursday and several others will be out too. We all promised to continue to workout though! Tonight when I came home I did Live HiLo cardio kickboxing. Was about 42 minutes. Really liked this one.

Deb...the Barre Fix was an add on to the 21 Day. We do have the extreme workouts but we have not looked at those yet. I think the word extreme intimidates the ladies. Everyone is doing so well with the original workouts. Eventually they will want to move on...well at least I hope! You can invite up to so many "family" members to use your prime. My friend is like my sister so she is "family" right? From your account you can send an invite.

Lynda...yes nice weather here this weekend. Will be nice down the Cape also. I have already heard about the ending. It is all over the place. I tried hard not to see anything but it was just in my face yesterday. So many changes with the story line from the books. Not sure how I feel about this. I wish your DH great success with the farmers market. What caused the outage? We had some much needed rain today but did not have any thunder that I noticed. Wow it happened while your FIL was driving? That is so scary!

Have a great evening all!

Good morning,

Cold here, only 42 degrees....I wish it would make up its mind and decide if we are going to have summer or spring. I felt like I was coming down with a cold yesterday so got some zinc lozenges right away. I hope they do their thing.

Lynda, how is your FIL doing?

Lori, I think it's great that the ladies are still going strong on those workouts. Yes, the word "extreme" could be intimidating to some. I read on Prime the rules on sharing, and it says they can only share the free shipping part, not TV or movies etc. The free shipping is easy for John, I just but what he wants, no problem. Maybe I misunderstood something.

Hi to Josie, Dawn, Deb2, Valerie & Judy,

We are going to the photographer's studio this morning to use the Gift Certificate the association gave me for my retirement...pics of the dogs, and (maybe) us..;).

Take care,

Hi Everyone,

I've been focusing on indoor cycling this week. Monday I did an 85 minute ride and yesterday I did an hour.
I'm going to try for an hour today and tomorrow, then take a break. I need to get a weight workout in today too.

Deb-I had to turn the heat back on this morning..it was 40 degrees out. Crazy weather, feels like October.

Lynda-so sorry about your FIL. It is amazing that he is so active at 90. I hope he is able to recover well and stay as independent as possible.

Lori-what a nice compliment from your DS! Great job on the 21 DF!

Dawn-great job with XTrain! I love that series. I think I will do a couple of the XTrain 100 rep challenges today. I need to find a group like you have. I left all of my friends in Iowa when I moved to Michigan in 2007 and haven't really found a group like that here.

Valerie-Great news about your shoulder! I feel the same way, if I buy something I need to use it often or I feel guilty about it.

Hi to Josie & Deb2!

Judy

Hi Ladies,

I ran yesterday in the morning and then Karina came and trained us. Today I might go spinning later on.
Our front lawn tree fell on Monday night, it was probably planted in the 50's and it just killed over on to our lawn.
My car was parked in front of it, so I got lucky. The city workers came over yesterday and cleared it up. The front of the house looks so bare :(

Garance, sorry to hear about your FIL, I will keep him and your family in my prayers.

Lori, have a great vacation. I'm getting ready for the Aids Lyfecycle ride. We leave on the 29th and return on June 6th. I will send you ladies pictures of what it entails to be a roadie.

Deb, have a great vacation too. You and your DH should be in the pictures too :)

Judy, it seems like you are back on track with you workouts.

Hi to Valerie, Dawn and DB2!

Josie

We're back.. a little sooner than we'd planned but had a good trip and did enough. we did a minor hike but it wasn't very rewarding and so did some biking instead. the trails near one resort were too busy. they'd had some kind of running event over the weekend and a lot of people were still there. so we rode a good part of the day but kept running into too many people. so moved to another area and did a FABULOUS ride the next day. really fun!. a lot of work but great fun on the way down. just hard enough to be fun and fast but not scary. ended up being 5 + hours, and we were pooped. thinking seriously about upgrading our bikes. the technology has changed so fast with bikes and these were dirt cheap bikes to begin with. we might trade in these bikes on slightly better ones although there is some benefit to having a couple of beaters that we don't have to be too careful with.
Judy are you still riding inside?? that is a long time on an indoor bike! outdoors an hour feels like nothing but indoors it feels like forever.

Lynda so sorry about your FIL. Hope he recovers uneventfully. wonderful that he has been able to remain active and involved. fortunately they escaped without getting into a car wreck too.

Lori thanks for the diet plan info. did not get a chance to look at it yet. I'm not sure how I located "conversation" but your response went to my 'junk" folder. that never happened with PM's from a site that I use regularly before, so everyone beware. any PM I ever got from a site I use regularly always went to the Inbox. when I looked for a place to ask a question, I kept ending up at a Microsoft "office' email form that I know from experience will not "send" from my computer because I don't have the full Office program and don't want to buy it. a wonderful thing for your DS to say... most kids would not notice.

dawn.... wowee 100 tricep extensions... I would love to be able to reach that point. shoulder is fine now so I will work my way back into 'real" weights and rep numbers.

Just as we left the campground yesterday I spotted a moose!! we don't have a population anywhere near this area so such a surprise. DH and I have come across what we thought were moose tracks within 40-50 miles of this area but officially moose don't exist in this part of the state. we also kept running into what I thought was elk poop while we were riding, in an area we didn't think had elk. so now we wonder if this was moose poop or elk poop? a question to ponder.... we are pretty avid wildlife watchers so a couple "treat".

Hi everyone!

This morning I did Jazzercise Dancin' Abs (58:00).

Lori, it really is not clear when he had the stroke. MIL noticed that he didn't seem to see cars to the side when he was driving, but he was taken to the hospital when he started choking in a restaurant and fell backwards, hitting his head, and briefly unconscious. When he woke up, he just wanted to go back to his meal and drink, but MIL said no, an ambulance was coming. They are returning tomorrow night by plane, while my BIL drives their car home. I guess we will see how it goes from there. Enjoy your time on the Cape!

Deb, it's cold here too, and I am worried about a frost tonight. I guess I will have to cover my annuals and have DH bring in the hanging plants again. It is supposed to warm up this weekend, but not quite as summery as it was last weekend. Poor DH! He will be getting up in the middle of the night tonight to get his chickens in crates for the long trip to the slaughter site. Max loves these trips (he gets a marrow bone to chew on) and loves his truck. Then tomorrow night he must pick up his parents at the airport and settle them into their condo. I will probably have to do some shopping for them because their car won't be back yet.

Dawn, I have never done those 100 rep challenges, but I did enjoy the XTrain rotation I did.

Josie, I actually thought A Most Dangerous Year was pretty good. A little heavy-handed on the American Dream for Abel (he doesn't know why he 'wants' what he wants), but Jessica Chastain as the wife was really good. I wasn't bored. I get more bored at superhero movies I think. I like richly conceived characters and these were pretty complicated. Lots of ironic details too. Like at the end, Abel is more concerned with his new purchase than the blood spatter and plugs the hole in one of those tanks with the white handkerchief he always carries after Julian shoots himself.

Sounds like a good trip, Valerie. We have seen a fair number of moose around here--one back on our land a couple years ago for regular sightings. I think they are a little scary because they are so big.

Hi to Deb2!

Good evening ladies!

Tonight I did not do my last Meso 1 legs workout. I just was not feeling it so I did Live Long and Strong legs. I used heavier weights than she did to really toughen it up. The heaviest she uses in her live classes (other than a barbell) is 15lbs. So it is easy to go heavier at times.

Welcome back Valerie! Sounds like you had a nice trip. Glad you received the info. I just sent it today because I kept forgetting! Lol funny about the poop!!!!

Lynda...so scary about your FIL. Hoping he recovers 100%. I'll say your DH will be very busy this weekend.

Josie...any idea what caused the tree to fall? Very lucky no one was hurt and wow close call with your car. The Aids Lifecycle came up fast!

Deb...cute having the dogs pictures taken. Yes you and John need to be in there!!!

Judy...great rides! Your hip must be holding out well. Been chilly here but not enough for me to turn the heat on. I almost did a couple of times but held out.

I leave tomorrow morning and will pop on when I can to see what is going on.

Hi to Deb2 and Dawn!

Have a great holiday weekend all!
