good morning. we are heading off this morning but don't want to get there too early. have not done this drive in quite a few years so not sure how traffic might be on a sunny sunday. it should be about a 6 hr drive. not my favorite place to visit. it's on the oregon coast, an area loved by many people. I'm not one of them. wet, dismal, touristy. there are nice areas of course but I don't enjoy it.... water sports, boating, or fishing and it tends to be foggy, damp, and rainy. plus a million tourists! never been a beach person. if there were fun things to do there we would visit more often, but we never find anything. they like fishing. I get terribly seasick so that's off the activity list.

there are places to mt bike that aren't a huge drive and we hope to stop on our way home.

Good morning. Today I did Jane Adams Gentle Yoga Morning Energy practice for 18 minutes. This is my rest day. Thankfully my skin is responding to the medication and the shot.

Diane Sue, great job with your workouts. I’m glad that you could get your mammogram and bone density test done.

Cathy, nice job with In the Ring. We had warm weather yesterday as well, upper 70s, I think. The Farmer’s Market is open year round, but I love going this time of year. They have food trucks and many things that keep people coming all year.

Valerie, have a safe drive today. The Oregon coast has always sounded interesting to me, but I have never visited there. I hope that you enjoy your visit.

Hello to Judy. Have a wonderful day everyone.

Did the IMAX workout that I put together this morning. We made it till almost 6:30 before it rained here. Storms had been missing us all afternoon. At times it was a torrential downpour. Ugh Would love for it to go somewhere it's actually needed. Tomorrow I'll be trying to finish up the stuff I've been working on in Derek's room, so I can get it ready for him. Tuesday is shopping and then I head north Wednesday morning.

Valerie I hope that your drive went smoothly!

Carolyn nice job with the yoga! Glad to hear that your skin is responding well.

This morning I did All Out Low Impact HiiT, floor and step cardio. That was 34 minutes and 233 calories burned. My average heart rate was 129 and maximum heart rate was 148.

Cathy, great job with your IMAX workout.

Hello to Judy, Diane Sue, and Valerie.

Yesterday was a rest day. I did an hour of Yin Yoga last night. HD was very busy over the weekend and I ended up working 8 hours both days even though I was only scheduled for 4 hours. It was non stop both days. I got a lot of exercise and it was nice to be outside when it was warm and sunny. Unfortunately that didn't last long. It looks like we will be getting some colder weather for the next few days and possibly snow showers tonight.

Carolyn-I'm glad your skin is responding to the treatment. Great job with Jane Adams Gentle Yoga Morning Energy practice.

Cathy-Great job with the IMAX workout.

Today I did PHA 2, segments 1A, 1B, and 2B. That was 39 minutes and 191 calories burned. My average heart rate was 117 and maximum heart rate was 148.

Judy, great job with doing an hour of Yin Yoga. I’m not surprised that HD was so busy. The weather has been perfect for motivating people to do projects, both indoors and outdoors. Were you in gardening?

Today I did a 45 minute Peloton ride. I will probably do an upper body strength workout later today. I'm working the next 3 days so might not have too much time for anything else this week. I ordered a Perfect 30 tank top and a Cathe coffee mug from the forum post on Cathlete Tank Tops. I love them and am glad I ordered.

Carolyn-Great job with PHA 2. I love that workout! Yes, I work in garden most of the time. Last year I started cross training in paint and have been getting some shifts in that department too.

Hi to Cathy, Valerie & Diane Sue

Yesterday I didn't get a great night's sleep, so I did P30 Mobility, shopped today and I'm heading north tomorrow. Planning to stop in Munising and check out the three falls near town, all the photos/videos of UP falls last night have fantastic amounts of water. Spring melt off falls are the best! Then I should get to Marquette in time to walk along the bay for a while. Only going to be low 30's, but last time I walked up there it was single digits and snowing, so it's better. LOL Derek said it was 60 Sunday, and this morning was 26 with snow on the ground. Weather app showing below 5% precipitation the next three days of there so fingers crossed that holds. We're planning to hike somewhere on Thursday.

Carolyn great job with All Out Low Impact Hiit and PHA 2!

Judy I'll bet you got a lot of steps in! Glad you like your new tank and mug. Great job fitting in the yoga and Peloton ride!

Today I did Cathe Low Impact Challenge to refresh my memory on it since Cam mentioned it. This was 52 minutes,, heart rate 115/151, 221 calories, 4,233 steps. I then did CDorner Full Body Stretch mobility 27 minutes, heart rate 86/105, 56 calories, 80 steps. Total time was 79 minutes, 277 calories, 4,313 steps. I won't do a workout tomorrow as I have those two appointments with the arthritis doctor's office. I am pretty sure they will do blood work as well. My shoulder and neck really hurt last night. I think I did some of the PT exercises longer when there and the stretches were held longer and a bit deeper. It actually felt like stinging like an aggravated nerve. I took Curcumin and Boswellia and finally took Advil before I went to bed. I hate taking Advil. It is way better today, but during the step workout my left knee hurt. I forget how all of the turns around the side of the step can hurt if I am not careful to keep lifting my foot. Same with crossover step things. It still aches around the back of my knee. So, no lower workout today as I had planned.

Today I did Hard Strikes, no conditioning premix. That was 35 minutes and 210 calories burned. My average heart rate was 128 and maximum heart rate was 161. I was wearing my boxing gloves and they somehow caused my Fitbit to stop the workout 5 minutes early. The pressure from the gloves on my wrist will sometimes activate something unintentionally. When I took the gloves off I saw that the Fitbit was back on the Home Screen instead of the workout screen.

Judy, nice job with the Peloton ride. That’s great that you could order the Cathe P30 tank and mug! Thing s like that are very motivating for me.

Cathy, I guess that you are headed north today. Nice job with P30 Mobility.

Diane Sue, great job with Low Impact Challenge and CDORNER Full Body Stretch Mobility. I hope that your arthritis appointments go well today.

Valerie, I hope that you are enjoying your trip. Have a nice day everyone.

We are back from our short trip. it was fine, weather wasn't bad. Spring...... changed by the minute. rained a lot but we managed enough breaks to work around rain. a 6 hour drive in the camper. we tried to do a hike on monday, but there had been a mudslide and main access road was closed. the alternate hiking routes were WAY too steep for SIL. she doesn't go up hill or downhill well so didn't work out. started up but it was clear she would not be able to do it. steep, rooty and muddy. we found a nice spot along the river and got to watch an otter swim by and then play on the beach, and a lot of water birds.
we started back yesterday. stopped at a state park and mountain biked for 3 hours, then stayed in the campground overnight. managed to avoid most rush hour traffic. we've done road rides thru this park before but first time for mt biking there. we will stick to road rides there. mt bike routes were OK but not as nice as the road bike trail is.
Neither of us enjoy the beach much. it's a wide sandy beach but cold and windy with heavy surf and it0 rained often. no rocks or tidepools. walking along a flat beach with a row of houses on the bluff above is not interesting. its loud too, very hard to sleep for both of us. I know many people find it peaceful and soothing to hear the water and waves crashing, it's plain old noise to me. this isn't new, its a reason I don't like coastal destinations. I use ear plugs but they come out easily. they live a few hundred yards from the bluff. it's loud. in contrast, the state park is inland and quiet and peaceful and the riding felt good even if it was as muddy as it could possibly be.

wiill read posts and catch up later.

No workout today. I got through my doctor visits and tests. They were pretty quick about getting info into my portal on bloodwork. My doctor asked if I needed an injection for my neck and I said no. I am working with it and if I do not sit at the computer or doing paperwork for long, I am better. That will be a last resort if it gets unbearable for too long. My shoulder is decent today and knee is still hurting and swollen. I wore jeans today and they are tight around that knee. Still not sure what is up with the knee. I will go through my PT exercises and work upper tomorrow and maybe a walking type workout. I will see how I am tomorrow.

Carolyn, I am glad to hear the medications are helping. Nice work with All Out Low Impact Hiit, PHA, and and Hardstrikes no conditioning mix. You got in some good workouts this week. I bought some clear covers that just sit over the surface of my Garmin and can be removed. It keeps the gloves from pushing things on my watch. I bet they have them on Amazon for other kinds of watches as well. I just keep them in the workout room for when I do boxing. I used to try to stuff things in my gloves to keep that from happening. For a while I put a second watch band with a frame on it over my Fitbit which worked somewhat.

Cathy, I bet the falls are beautiful to look at. Yoga sounds like a good choice when there is little sleep.

Judy, an hour of yin yoga would feel good. People were doing so much planting and stuff the first warm day here. Too early as we had a short snow and a frost afterward. I put off my stuff. Just recently got out and did fertilizing and trimming. I need to get some flowers for my pots. I haven't looked at the tank tops. I have too many mugs around here. I see Cathe has an Amazon store now. I put some things in my wish list as some of my older bands I pulled out to use for PT exercises are sticky and two broke when I tried to use them. I would rather have non latex anyway.

Valerie, I do not sleep well with sounds. I prefer silence. I have a clock that has sounds like beach and rain sounds and tried it one time and decided it was more annoying than soothing.

This morning I did Stacked Sets Upper Body and Extended Stretch #2. That was 52 minutes with 252 calories burned. My average heart rate was 120 and maximum heart rate was 166.

Valerie, your trip sounds like a nice short visit with in-laws. It’s great that you were able to stop at the state park, bike, and spend the night at the campgrounds.

Diane Sue, I’m sorry that your knee is hurting and swollen. Sticking to upper body and the PT exercises is smart.

Hello to Judy and Cathy.

we did a short steep hike this morning. great spring wildflowers, a nice view, and about 90 min a few miles. colder and wetter than normal but we are getting our garden in anyway. not ideal but expect to not be here when it is ideal. I'm harvesting lettuce now but nothing else is growing much.
its quiet here and we both sleep much better without background noise. I know several people who can't sleep when its quiet, and purposely play a radio all night to help them sleep. wide range of habits on this.

it was seriously motivating to look at SIL who is totally and completely out of shape. she had two knee replacements but never went to PT because she has a bad attitude and thinks people are trying to "take their money". BIG mistake. she can't walk right at all. knees need PT at least to start off. a few sessions to learn exercises and then do at home. her surgery was many years ago now so this is what she will settle for. she is seriously overweight with awful eating habits. she is not "open to suggestions" either so I don't say a thing. would not be welcomed. she wont listen to her brother ( my DH) either but its hard to watch someone deteriorate when they could do much better without a huge effort. She should use hiking poles to take the stress off her knees but she wont do that either. parents were like this too, suspicious of medical people trying to give them a good outcome after surgery. I don't understand it. every health care person is not a scam artist trying to fleece you.

Carolyn we try to break up the drive if we can and after sitting for 2 days it felt great. a short visit is best, believe me. we would not bring mt bikes to this park again but would bring our road bikes next time. the only way to find out is try yourself. I love that Stacked sets workout. have not done it in a while.

diane sue that is unfortunate about the knee. I would back off until the swelling goes down as you are doing, and do "work around" exercise.

I got a return call on my mammogram, and they want me to come back next week and do the right side again to get a better look at something. Not what I wanted to hear. I have never had that happen before. I forgot to mention that the technician that did my field vision test at my arthritis appointment said "you must workout" and commented on my arms. That made me feel good.
This morning I did Burpee Girl 30-minute Dance workout from 1 day ago, 38 minutes, heart rate 146/164, 237 calories, 3,637 steps. I seem to get better stats with her workouts than others. They seem mild and she is doing it without shoes. No impact and just steady movement. Anyway, knee is better today, and this was a good choice. I then went to an upper workout that she did, and did some of it with very light weights, would pause and add in physical therapy exercises and sometimes for things like overhead triceps one arm I just went to another PT exercise and paused it when needed. This was 61 minutes, 138 calories, heart rate 90/126, 240 steps. Total time was 99 minutes, 375 calories, 3,877 steps.

I've been busy at work the past few days. I had over 20,000 steps working garden yesterday. I'm off this weekend and am looking forward to it.

Carolyn- Great job with the Hard Strikes premix and Stacked Sets Upper Body with Extended Stretch #2.

Diane Sue-That's a nice compliment that the technician gave you. I hope the return call on your mammogram is nothing to worry about. I had a return call on my mammogram last year and I was very concerned since it was the first time I'd been called back. It ended up being nothing. My doctor said it happens a lot when they don't have a clear enough image and just need a better view. I remembered the technician had seemed distracted and had been in a hurry the morning of the mammogram so I ended up thinking she just messed up one of the views.

Valerie-Nice job on the hike. That's too bad about your SIL.

Cathy- I hope your trip up north is going well.

This morning I did Step Sync, combos 1 and 2, for 33 minutes and 217 calories burned. My average heart rate was 124 and maximum heart rate was 150.

Valerie, nice job with the hike yesterday.

Diane Sue, nice job with Burpee Girl dance workout. Sometimes the mammogram pictures are not clear enough for the radiologist to read. Hopefully that’s all that it is for you. That’s great that the technician noticed your arms. That’s a nice compliment.

Judy, 20,000 steps is amazing for one day! Definitely a workout.

Waving hello to Cathy.

we gave xc skiing a try this morning but it didn't work. drove to as far up the road as we could, ending in a long section of deep snow. put on skis and started up. went around a corner, and voila, no snow! we hiked carrying skis and boots for a mile or so, until we could tell it would be a long walk to solid enough snow. the melt out is different every year. we know this road pretty well but got fooled at the start, thinking it would be adequate snow. it wasnt. we hiked back down and drove home. still, an hour hiking uphill carrying skis and a pack is decent exercise. garden work this afternoon instead.

those mamm call-backs are always scary. most turn out to be nothing. I've had to go back for a repeat view 10 times at least. it's never a pleasant wait. several times I had the repeat view, and then wisked into another room for an ultrasound before I got the "all clear". some of us have denser tissue that makes for closer or repeat looks. some things depend on the skill of the tech, and sometimes the technology has been updated and things look different because the imaging is better. for me, I have this pacemaker, and it's in all the films. it looks as big as Sputnik (satellite) on the films. it's harder for them to get a good image. so far, all has been Ok. diane sue get it scheduled ASAP so you don't have to worry needlessly. next week isnt a terribly long wait though, if you are like me, it will feel long.

wow Judy, that is a lot of mileage. how many miles does that translate into?

Valerie-20,000 steps is around 9 miles on my Apple Watch. I'm at around 42 miles so far this week, just counting Home Depot mileage. I am very glad to be off this weekend!

Today I did Stacked Sets Lower Body for 39 minutes and 230 calories burned. Average heart rate was 125 and maximum heart rate was 170. I added the Extended Stretch from Step Boss for an additional 8 minutes.

Have a wonderful day everyone.
