Good morning!

Wow the weather is crazy...it was 68 degrees this time yesterday, now it
s 34!

Working the trial this morning, have to be there by 7:45. Then a haircut this afternoon...

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

For some strange reason I thought today was Sunday so I started a new thread...oh well, we're a day early this week!

Worked the trial this morning, then got a haircut, food shopping, and some reading this afternoon. Nice day all in all except for the weather...it's cold and still very windey...

Good morning ladies!

Cold has really set me back. Pretty much a couch day yesterday. Felling better today. May just take chester for a walk later. Seems like it will be a nice day. Will be good to get out and get a little sunshine.

I'll check in later. Have a great day!

Lori

Good morning,

Today I did K-C-M 20 Minutest to Fitness "Powersculpting". This is a very good functional fitness type workout, and you can make it as difficult as you want with upping the weights.

Lori, hope you start to feel better today. Walking here would be unpleasant, it's only 29 degrees....I can't believe the shift in the weather these days, 68 degrees in the am down to 40 in the afternoon. Very strange.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Hi Deb and Lori and any later posters--

This morning I did STS disk 7 for ch, bis, sh (55 min.). Almost all pushups for chest on this one.

Congrats, Keegan!! I would love to see a video of him doing his thang. Deb, I know what you mean about the weather. Freezing cold last night, and even though it's sunny today, it still feels like early, early, early spring. My son and his girlfriend were here this weekend. She is a lovely, lovely girl and we have enjoyed having them. Went out to dinner last night and I had trout, which was yummy. My usual Manhattan.

Lori, I hope you shake this cold. I always take coldeez lozenges and they really seem to stave off the cold if you catch it early.

Good morning all,

I did Run Fit this morning, that is a tough one, I can't do the whole thing, have to break it up and keep it to 40 minutes or I would keel over on the treadmill.

Garance, I wish John had been there to film Keegan and that perfect run he did...unfortunately he was on a fishing trip, and I did not think to ask anyone else to do it, since he had been such a clown the last time he was in the ring. I will get it recorded at some time soon and probably have to put it on Youtube so that people can see it. I don't think you can post videos here. Is this the girlfriend your son is going to marry or am I getting this right? I know your other son is married already...

John is back from his fishing trip, all relaxed. He needs to dothat more often. We were supposed to go to a Wire Fox Terrer show in May in Columbus Ohio, had hotel reservations, time off etc., but found out that only the confirmation showing was AKC sanctioned, all the rest, obedience and agility were only matches...not worth driving 5 hours for, I can do matches here. Bummed out. Now we have the time off, bird sitter lined up and nowhere to go.

Nothing much going on here....work, then dog class...

Hi to Lori, Josie & Valerie.

Take care,

Hi Ladies,

Sorry for not posting much last week, but as you know the new witch was giving me grief. My DH and I celebrated our 23rd anniversary this past weekend, so that made thing better for me. I only have 10 more weeks here and a couple of those weeks I will be taking vacation and I plan to be sick a few days here and there ;)

I also plan on setting a meeting with the Chairman and the Co-chairman of the department and the HR person before I leave to let them know what is going on in the office. We don’t have exit interviews here, but I will make sure I have one. All I can say is that she messed with the wrong person.

I will be doing my workout when I get home, it is only the fit test for the Insanity program. I will also be filling out my retirement paperwork at noon :)

I will be back later.

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, and Lori--

This morning I did Pure Spice (58 min.).

Deb, no mention yet of an engagement, but they seem pretty serious. Were you planning on showing Keegan and Kylee at the show? Maybe you can do a different vacation since you have the time off.

Josie, you sound like a Bostonian instead of a laid back LA girl. Dennis Lehane had an editorial titled, "You messed with the wrong city," in the NY Times last week. After all of your travails in that office, someone should get an earful about the wicked witch of the west and your gossipy coworkers. Keep us abreast of your ire.

Hi to Lori (hope you're feeling better now) and Valerie!

Good afternoon ladies!

What a crazy weekend here in the Boston area. On Friday we were all glued to the TV at my office. Don't think any one did a thing all day. Our office is only 30 minutes from where all the action was and we had serveral people that lived in Watertown that could not make it to work due to the lock down and 9 of our restaurants were closed. Then of course I was so sick on Saturday and never got out of my PJ's all day. Just as well. I did not feel guilty watching the news all day. Glad it is overwith and one less horrible person is running around.

So...I did manage to take Chester for a nice 3 mile walk on Sunday. Felt great for both of us. Today at lunch I did the Pyramid Hiit. This is only about 30 minutes so it is a great w/o when you have limited time. Tonight I am planning disc 10 Chest, Shoulders and Biceps.

Deb...So happy for Keegan. I would have loved to see this. 40 minutes on the TM is certainly a great workout.

Glad you are enjoying pure spice Garance. I wish I could do the dancier workouts as they look like so much fun. I tend to go with the more athletic moves.

Josie..we do exit interviews here. Good that you made the appts. with the ones that you did.

Hi to Valerie!!

Have a good evening!

Good morning all,

Late night last night so no workout this morning.

Josie, just think, you will be out of there soon! How nice will that be? We also do exit interviews, it depends on the person whether the information is good info that helps, or just sour grapes. We can usually tell the difference.. Yours will be good info for them to know.

Garance, yes, we were planning on showing both dogs, in obedience and agility, thinking they could get a couple legs on some titles. Since they are only matches, and not actual trials, nothing would count. We have matches all over here, at our club, so travelling that far didn't make sense. Yes, it would have been nice to see some folks we only communicate with on message boards and e-mail, but not worth that long of a trip with 2 dogs in the car! It sounds like your son is serious about this person, it's nice if you get along with her as well :).

Lori, I know you probably mentioned this, what restaurant do you work for again?

Hi to Valerie,

Nothing much else here, work, then home, no PT massage tonight! We are going to still see her, but not every week. I hope to be able to do it myself. I have been looking around for some instruction. All kinds of stuff out there.

Have a great day!

I've been around but busy... did a major load of garden work this weekend. planted two big trees among other things. still some trip recovery. I used to travel so much, but not used to it anymore. I finally weighed. down another 1.6 lbs. this was over a couple weeks but I'm pleased that I was able to not only hold steady but actually lose over a vacation week and the travel week. had only one over-the-top dinner in a French place that was delicious but serious butter there. had a lovely trout amandine. haven't been jeans shopping yet. maybe this week. I am phoning ahead to not waste time on places that don't carry petites.

yesterday we tried to xc ski but drove to 3 of our areas and could not access a single one. many trees down blocking the roads, too much work to be worth it. would have been many hours of sawing and dragging. after a few hours of wasting time we gave up and drove home and loaded the road bikes and rode our regular 26 mile trail. I am still having grief with the derailleur though by the time we finished it seemed to be working OK. I'm having issues with serious discomfort with the bike seat. Josie, how you can sit on a bike seat beyond 30-40 miles is beyond me. I get so sore I can't sit anymore, and this is with padded capris. I used to ride in plain unpadded shorts and had less trouble. sometimes I think the padding makes it worse. I don't have trouble with mt biking because you "sit" on the seat less. my seat has cut outs etc so I'm trying some different shorts the next ride.

Josie, DH is moving ahead with his retirement plan also... feels good to have a clear direction. he is so "ready".... sounds just like you.

Deb, after seeing my cousins fox terrior I am in awe that you can get your dogs to do what you want. especially do a perfect run of anything!! theirs is just "all over the place" at about 100 mph. they've never been real good at training any of their dogs though. dogs do whatever they wanted. and these are sort of "hyper" little dogs. cute but like there was major caffeine in their kibble.

I missed much of the initial coverage on boston ( traveling) but I have to say, this is very upsetting. such an incredibly vicious thing to do.. but when someone gets an idea like this, others will follow and try to "out-do" the original. something similar but different. so glad these guys were caught quickly but it seems to opemn a door to a more types of terrorism in new places. It doesn't take too many crazies to change everything. As I was trying to open a package, I remembered when the first product tampering event occurred and now we have to use multiple tools to get into most product packaging.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, and Lori--

This morning I did STS disk 8 for back and tris (56 min.).

Deb, that does sound like a long trip with two dogs in the car. I remember a long time ago now when I was driving back to Minnesota with a couple of friends and their two dogs. We went into a restaurant for lunch, and one of the dogs (her name was Brillo because she had this really funny coat) had decided to tear up a box of Kleenex. It looked like it was snowing in the car. When DH takes Max on a longer than usual truck ride he gives him a marrow bone to keep him busy.

Valerie, good for you on the weight! Maybe jeans-buying won't be such a disheartening experience.

Lori, I'm so glad that Boston can get back to normal. My son said it felt like the end of the world with no one in the streets. Apparently the only thing allowed to be open in Watertown was a Dunkin' Donuts. DH said, "Apparently the world really does run on Dunkin'." Either that or the cliché about cops eating donuts is true.

How's the wicked witch of the west treating you today, Josie?

Hi Ladies,

Tonight’s workout is Plyo Cardio Circuit. I could not get up this morning either Deb 
My retirement paperwork has been mailed. My last day is June 27th 

Valerie, is your DH retiring the end of June also? Regarding the bike, I have a gel set cover in addition to my padded pants. I did have to adjust the seat by an inch or so when I added the gel seat. It has helped tremendously especially when I’m out there doing 80-90 miles. Regarding jeans, I like the Levi’s 512. JC Penney’s carries them and they do come in petite sizes. They are $40.00, but keep your eye on their sales. I get the boot cut style.

Deb, I’m going to be very careful to say things that don’t sound like sour grapes. I also plan on putting it in writing.

Garance, the witch is calm today, but its still early ;)

Josie

We had a gel seat a long time ago. didn't like it, it was so rounded I kept sliding off to one side or the other. BUT a lot has changed since including maybe the natural padding on MY butt. If it's warmer, I can wear my shorts. they work better than the capris. It makes me nervous about upgrading to a more expensive bike if I can't get this seat to be comfortable. I know that will take care of the derailleur problem as most better bikes have the 2 front derailleur rings rather than 3, like mine.

Josie, his last day is a little later... Aug 1. that is, unless they take away the space he works in, in which case he has told them he will walk out immediately. it is bizarre how they expect docs to work in loud chaotic rooms with 10 people talking, phones ringing, etc. he refuses to do it and uses an empty exam room. they don't even have cubicles.... just a loud room called the bull pen. he used to have an office but they took that away a couple years ago. he is SO ready to leave. not that he doesn't love his job, but the employer has made conditions so awful that it's impossible.

Another place to try jeans added to the list. n does not look like shopping will happen this week

Valerie,

My DH's office is moving and he will be in a similar situation. He now has an office, but the new place is all open with cubicles, but now much privacy. He will probably be out of there in the next 6 to 12 months too.

Josie

Good evening ladies!

This morning I ran 2.5 miles on TM and then did Leslie Sansone's 3 mile walk with the office girls at lunch. Had a blast with the girls. This type of work out is certainly not my cup of tea so to speak but added 2lb hand weights and 1 lb ankle weights to help with the intensity and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would and thought it was a great workout at lunch. We are planning to do it again tomorrow.

Deb...I work for Bertucci's. We have several in NY but none in your area.

Garance...just started book 3 of Game of Thrones. LOVING IT! Finished watching season 2. Have not started S3 yet. Want to get futher into the book.

So sad here in Boston. Pretty much all that is on the news. Hard to get away from everything.

Have a good night all.

Good morning,

Today I did an all weights premix from K-C-M.

Valerie, congratulations on the weight loss! Yes, we were pretty naive years ago regarding things like what happened recently, I remember how shocked the country was with the Tylenol tampering. Now that seems like a run of the mill type of thing...sad. Terriers are a tough breed to train, like you said, they are very intense, but that is their personality, and why we like them.

Garance, I actually bought 2 new Nylabones last Friday morning before the trial, one for Kylee who had to stay home alone, ( I felt sorry for her, she probably couldn;t care less once we were out the door!), and one for Keegan in his crate at the trial, to keep him busy. I think we project too many human emotions on dogs, ( there is a word for that I can't think of at the moment)...LOL about the Dunkin Donuts being the only place open...

Josie, good idea to put your comments in writing as well as telling them what has been going on. They need to know this kind of thing.

Lori, that Leslie Sansone type of workout seems to be a good one for a group setting at work. I have seen them, but never tried one.

Not much going on here...work, then agility class....I guess I will start Keegan back in classes...my poor Kylee will be taking a back seat again..
icon_e_sad.gif
. I need to figure out a way to train both of them. I don't want to driver 15 miles to another club another night of the week...that's way too much...

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, and Lori--

This morning I did Jazzercise burlesque (45 min.).

Finally a nice warm day. Unfortunately I have my annual physical this afternoon or I would be working in the garden.

Lori, Leslie has some workouts with intermittent jogging and when I did them I would add a weighted vest of 10 lbs.

A rancorous town meeting tonight. I just hope it doesn't take the whole night.

Did Burn sets last night. also yoga yesterday morning. this morning we did a mt bike ride for 1.5 hours, and then kayaked for about an hour. we need to try something more interesting. it's too much work to put it together and just paddle around a freshwater lake. I think we are comfortable enough to do something a little more challenging. salt water, here we come.

Josie, I'm looking into gel seats... my old one must have been 25 years ago. back then I used to ride without padded shorts, though we usually rode 30-40 miles at a time, nothing close to 100. I had a plain hard leather seat, no fancy cut outs either. gotta find something better!! mt biking ... you rise off the seat enough and keep shifting position so no spots get pressure like on a road bike.

deb, I wish you could see a picture of a wire haired terrier shaved, like my cousins dog. If I can get a pic I'll let you know. they don't look like the same kind of dog at all.
Warm and sunny today for the third day in a row... wow!. another day maybe and then back to rain. my aunt always had wire haired terriers, and no her son, my cousin, has had a series of them. cute little guys... but I don't remember his family ever doing even basic obedience training.
Deb, I WAS thinking of the tylenol tampering case... nothing has been the same since. that was so unthinkable before then and look at the changes that took place. obviously, the airport security totally changed after 9/11. how about the whole vast area of identity theft?? we used to have our SSN numbers plastered all over everything and no one was concerned. school shootings... who could imagine schools would be hiring armed guards and allowing or even requiring teachers to "carry". I'm wondering what changes the boston bombing will bring to other public events.

Hello ladies!

No workout this morning as I was planning to do STS legs tonight. Unfortunately this did not happen. I did do with the girls at lunch leslie sansones 2 mile walk. So I feel I did at least do something. Never thought to use a weight vest. I have cathe's 10lb vest. I'll bring it in with my 2lb weights and ankle weights. They already think I am crazy at work and they will love this.

Valerie...awesome on the kayak. The ocean will be amazing!

I was just talking about the tylenol cyanide poisoning from years ago to my son and how all the current safety packaging was a result of it. I still remember this like it just happened. I just googled the date and it was 1982 more than 30 years ago.

Going to try and do legs in the morning. Wish me luck!

Have a great night.
