Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 4/20

Good morning all,

Tired today, although the dogs let us sleep until 4:40! Imagine that?

Class last night was a bust, Keegan is all back to his old ways, he wouldn't do anything, it was like the dog I had at the trial last week was a completely differen dog. I am not sure what to do about him, take him for more massage therapy? Was he really in pain or has he just figured out that if he acts like this he doesn't have to to it?

Garance, how/why was the town meeting going to be rancorous? All ok with the physical?

Valerie, I would like to see a pic of your cousin's dog....is it a Wire Fox terrier? there are other terrier's with wire coats, too...is it predominately white with brown and black markings? Or can you not tell because it is shaved? I agree, the stuff going on now way worse than anything prior to 9/11...or maybe we are just getting numbed by it all?

Lori, you should be doing STS legs right now as I type! I thought the original vest Cathe sold was 20 pounds? Not sure...1982? wow...it does seem like yesterday..

Work, then hair coloring and pedi after work...nothing much else going on...I wish we would get some warm weather....

Deb, I'm almost sure about the dog breed being the same. mostly white with darker spots. he is shaved right now, and they had to completely anesthetize him to accomplish that. the place that did it told them, "don't bring him back". must have been quite a handful. cousin has had several over wire haired fox terriers over the years but I haven't lived near so didn't see most of them, until the new one last week. looks just like a little greyhound! he was a rescue dog so young but not a puppy. I sent them a thank you gift so we should be in contact next week ...

I should be gone for a few days next week so won't be posting though DH woke up this morning with what sounds like a nasty head cold. out of the blue, I didn't get anything this trip. we had a long weekend so will see if he feels well enough to go.

I think the media and public response to crimes like this encourages other crazies to come up with more elaborate schemes to cause hurt and get attention. In a sick twisted way it's a way to be "famous" and bring attention, albeit negative attention, to your "cause". I will bet that every event sponsor is thinking right now about how to respond to this. I wonder how much of the budget for the Olympics, superbowl etc gets eaten up by security requirements. anyway, I wonder how much the extensive news coverage adds to the momentum to do things like this.

yes lori, every time I get the scissors, pliers and crowbar out to open a blister wrapped package I'm reminded of how simple things used to be.

Good morning ladies!

Yup I was indeed doing STS legs this morning. Was going to skip the bonus section but thought perhaps I will do the first exercise. Ended up doing them all. Love when that happens.

My vest is definetly a Cathe 10lb. I bought it last year so perhaps it is a new item.

Today I am leaving the office at 2pm. Heading to the Nashua Soup Kitchen for our montly dinner our company sponsors. Feeding 300 people today. Going to be a a crazy night. Bet I will be sorry I did legs this morning.

Have a great day all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, and Lori--

This morning I did disk 9 Legs of STS (55 min.).

Deb, the meeting was about whether or not to build affordable housing on 10 acres of good farmland owned by the town to replace housing (a trailer park in a flood plain) lost by hurricane Irene. It must be affordable housing. Everything was tabled pending further study. The land is currently in conservation and it must first be released by the conservation committee. I am not a big supporter of people who just abandoned their trailers after receiving $22,500 from FEMA and leaving the town to clean up the park.

Lori, book 3 of George R.R. Martin's series was my favorite and the television series this year is really, really good. Love me some dragons!! I have the 10 lb. Cathe vest. It's also great for meso 3 of STS on legs.

Valerie, I did get a prescription yesterday for Ativan and will see how it affects me.

Hi to Josie!

Deb, I got the pic but I don't know how to transfer it to this board. I think I can attach it to an email if you PM me your email? I will see if I can remember how to do a PM.

Lynda, Ativan is similar to Xanax. I am NOT a big expert here but know they are the same family of drugs and should work the same way. I had Ativan once and it didn't work. either that or they didn't give me enough. I was in the hospital and extremely stressed out from a procedure. I asked for some Xanax after the Ativan didn't do anything. it helped a little but they didn't give me enough of either to matter. my stress/anxiety level was thru the ceiling, this was the night after I had the pacemaker implanted. so I got maybe an hour or two of quieter time but by then it was morning and time to go home.

Happy Friday!!

I did CC #4 this morning, great workout.

Valerie, I sent you an e-mail so you can just reply and attach the picture. He sounds like the first Wire we got, when we called the kennel we usually took him to when we went on vacation, they said, "Sorry, Brandy is no longer welcome here"....I almost fell out of my chair, I was speechless. I guess he was a rabble rouser...and barked constantly. We got him when he was 11 months old and had been in 3 homes and the SPCA twice....maybe that should have told us something? However, we kept him until he died of cancer at 11, and he turned out to be a great dog. He needed a lot of training and attention, which apparently he had not had in the first 11 months of his life. Even though he was a handful, he made us love the breed and we have had them ever since. LOL about the pliers, etc...

Lori, sounds like you will have a long day...nice that you do this each month.

Garance, I don't think I would have liked to be a that meeting...I agree with you..Have you been stressed lately or is this for travelling?

Work, then agility workshop...fun fun!

Take care,

Hi Ladies,

I will be doing my Pure Cardio DVD after work today and tomorrow will be a 3.5 mile run plus Cardio Recovery DVD. On Sunday I will be doing the Plyo Cardio Circuite or a sculpt class. I’m still down the 14 pounds, so I’m happy.

My DH and I are going out with friends on Saturday night. My best friend Claudia is celebrating her birthday and will have a limo pick us up. So I may not workout on Sunday ;) She said that we will be going to different clubs for some dancing and also a burlesque show. I will be thinking of you Garance ;)

Work has been quiet two other co-workers have gone to HR to complain about the new boss. I hope they do something about it.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, and Lori--

This morning I did Athletic Training (56 min.).

Deb, I asked for the Ativan for when I am claustrophobic--chiefly on airplanes. I will be curious to see if it is effective because I've taken valium before a colonoscopy and when I had my veins done, and it doesn't seem to have much of an effect on me at all--no drowsiness. But I didn't feel anxious during those procedures, so maybe it worked and I didn't even notice it working?

Max rolled in turkey s--- again. Sigh! What is so irresistible about that stuff?? DH says he just can't help himself, even though he knows "NO ROLL!" and if you say it to him he gets all sheepish looking. DH says he just can't see this stuff in time to stop Max.

No plans for the weekend other than Housemax and some gardening and shopping.

Deb, I *think* I sent you the picture. I could not figure out how to do it without sending the whole conversation, but there's not much to it, and the attachment should be toward the bottom. I always have trouble with photos this was not in my photo program and I couldn't get the attachment by itself without the email it came with.

Congrats Josie on holding the loss. so easy to backslide and start regaining. I'm looking for a gel seat as we speak. I don't want to spend umpteen $$ upgrading my bike... this current one is getting worn and I don't want to invest money in it. will likely trade it in on a nicer one. but I need to resolve the seat issue first. sounds like a fun evening....

Just yoga yesterday plus some garden work. DH is getting a headcold most likely... he always starts with a sore throat... so unsure if we will have our long weekend plan totaled. we were planning on a short camping trip to eastern part of the state for some hiking and mt biking but will need to see how he feels.

Hi all!

No volenteering at soup kitchen yesterday. An employee needed to go the hospital yesterday and I ended up taking her and waiting with her. She is fine and has some followup appts. to do. When you go to the emergency room you just pretty much wait all day. We got there at 11am and left at 4:45pm. I actually was exhasuted when I got home from sitting around all day! Go figure.

No run this morning as I am planning to do Tabatacise when i get home. DH is working late tonight so I have plenty of time.

Josie! Congrats on holding the weight loss! Awesome job. Glad other people in your office are speaking up. Perhaps things will change. Have fun Saturday with your friends.

Deb sounds like you gave Brandy a wonderful life.

Garance, I really like Athetic Training. Been a while since I have done this one. Perhaps I will try over the weekend. Max loves the turkey crap! :(

Valerie...hope your husband feels better soon. That is how I started last week. First the sore throat then bam full blown out cold. I was worthless over the weekend.

Going to a surprise Bday party tomorrow night. Should be a lot of fun.

Have a great weekend!

Sorry Deb, the pic disappeared. no idea where. I didn't delete anything but it's gone.

Lynda, I think I took valium once for something a long time ago and didn't notice anything either. mostly, I don't take meds if I can avoid them. Xanax however, works very well for me. I've only taken it at night when I get stressed and can't sleep, never tried this type of med during the day. During the day I may feel stressed but that's OK, only when it prevents sleep. I would be be careful and probably not drive if I'd taken any until you know how it affects you.

is there something special about turkey poop? is it more attractive than chicken? who knows what drives dogs!!

Hopefully DH will feel good enough to go but that puts us in really close contact in the camper so means I'll probably get whatever it is too. just had a headcold a month ago, too soon to repeat that experience.

Good morning, and Happy weekend!

I sure hope we get some warmer weather..this is getting old...

Josie, have fun today..

Garance, dogs! You gotta love em! If you didn't you wouldn't put up with their antics that's for sure! I took a derivitive of valuim years and years ago...to relieve some stress at the time and it didn't have any effects except I was not as stressed and could actually get some sleep. I would go for days with 1 or 2 hours of fitful sleep...it was awful. I didn't take them for long but it sure helped get me back to normal. do you have a trip coming up?

Valerie, ok about the picture...I have that same problem with pics and e-mail.. hope your DH is better and you can do something fun this weekend..

Lori, yes I think it's a standard for ER visits to be 5 hours or more! glad you're co-worker is ok

Today I get my Saab out of storage, then agility class, and we have a playe=y to go to this afternoon...

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, and Lori--

Just Housemax for me today and some gardening cleanup.

Lori, I sympathize on the ER wait. Even here, which is pretty small in terms of population density, the wait is FOREVER. Athletic Training just flies by, and it covers everything--about 25 minutes of heart pounding cardio, biceps, triceps, legs, back, chest, shoulders, and core work. It's one of my faves.

Deb, I agree about just loving crazy dogs. Max somehow finds turkey s--- distinctive. He doesn't roll in the chickens' or pigs' and while he sometimes likes to eat the cow manure, he doesn't roll in that either. Just something about those turkeys and their doodoo. DH says he makes a mad dash for it, dives in and gets up smiling. Go figure. Sounds like you have had a problem with insomnia for many years.

Valerie, I understand completely if you don't want to sleep in close quarters with DH having a head cold. We always sleep separately if one of us is not feeling well. I've always wondered though if the period of contagion isn't prior to the symptoms really making an appearance (?). I haven't tried the Ativan yet, but don't worry, I won't be driving while under the influence.

Hi to Josie!
