Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 4/2/2023

Yesterday I did a 30 minute Peloton ride, 10 minutes of Peloton Arms & Light Weights and 30 minutes of Yin Yoga. I hope everyone is having a nice Sunday.

I just finished Total Body Barre. Barre is actually only used for legs. 5 and 8 lb weights and a yoga ball. I really like this workout, a lot of yoga ball work, the high rep weight work though was killing me. We are going to have a nice day which after yesterday will be most enjoyable. Not sure how long it'll take before we can get to the back of the yard. It's VERY water logged after the rains.

Judy great job with the ride, arms and yoga.

good morning. we drove back to WA yesterday. 11 hours 15 minutes. traffic was not bad. we drove thru a range of spring storms with hail, snow, rain and wind, followed by sunshine, and then back thru again. we lucked out at the 10 hour point when we drove by a minor wreck that had just happened. someone spun out in the left lane with a second car involved. the inevitable backup hadn't happened yet. people were fine, calling for help as we passed. getting a tow truck and state patrol on the scene will block lanes and back up the traffic quickly. it just happened so we scooted through. Whew! at least it wasnt a semi.
we got done what we needed to do and got in 2 skis and a hike so feel efficient. I have a driving hangover today so will clean things up and probably therapy work later. there is no way to feel decent after that long sitting / reading in a car.

Good afternoon. Today I did my weekly yoga for 18 minutes.

Judy, great job with the Peloton ride, Arms and light weights, and Yin Yoga.

Cathy, great job with Total Body Barre. We are having a beautiful weather day here also.

Valerie, I’m glad that you made it back to Washington. It sounds like your trip was productive as well as enjoyable. It’s good that you were able to ski and hike.

Hello to Diane Sue.

Today I did Love Me Some Cardio Kickboxing. It takes a truly evil person to put a bunch of air jacks at the end of a 57 minute workout. LOL Sunny out now but there's a chance of rain the next three days, which we definitely do not need.

Valerie I'm glad you made it back safely yesterday. Those long of drives are tiring, though I find weather plays into that. Long drives on a dreary day make me way extra tired compared to a long sunny drive. It's 7 hours to Marquette, and I am usually okay to do something when I get there, but when you add another 2-3 hours to that totally changes the energy level. Since Derek will have a car next fall, I won't have to move him up, so my visits will be lessened. Saves money, but I LIKE being up there. Already planning extra things into my drive up next month to move him back, so the weather had better cooperate! I want to do the 7 mile drive through the big refuge, which was closed all last year for bridge work, and also do a couple short waterfall hikes. I also told him that I WILL be making a trip up next fall to do Hogback Mountain (yes, I know baby mountain), and we may do a day trip to the Porcupine Mountains. Only two 1/2 hours and there are some 4-5 mile hiking loops we could do in addition to the escapement at Lake of the Clouds. I haven't been there since my honeymoon. And hopefully by September the bugs will be gone. That was the worst ever hiking with bugs and we had head nets and all skin covered.

Carolyn great job with the yoga.

Hi to Diane Sue and Judy.

I like cloudy days for driving best. we leave early. driving east into the rising sun can be absolutely brutal. coming back, the low setting sun facing west is harsh. my "preference" is cloudy to partly cloudy. helps with less reflection off screens since I am usually reading or doing crosswords. I'm too short for the visors to help. I bought some stick on window screens for the side windows that help. we keep the skylight closed. sunglasses. no way to make an 11 hour drive fun. most of the way the traffic isn't bad and the scenery is pleasant. not like driving thru a city.
cathy, bug time is when I stay home. I have a headnet and every insect repellant made. I get eaten alive by black flies. I use nylon zip off pants, light long sleeve nylon shirt. helps with sun and bugs. bug bites dont go away for me and come back on and off for weeks MT is windy much of the time and that helps especially with flies. most of my "serious" hiking is done. short hikes now. I used to do a lot of miles, 12-15 miles with a lot of up and down. no more.
I did 20 on the elliptical, therapy work, x train abs and an extra set of sit ups.

This morning I did Cardio Supersets express, rounds 1-4. That was 27 minutes and 171 calories burned. My average heart rate was 127 and maximum heart rate was 151.

Cathy, great job with Love Me Some Cardio Kickboxing. A 57 minute Cathe cardio with air jacks at the end would do me in for sure.

Hello to Valerie, Judy, and Diane Sue.

Today I did CDorner workouts. I started with her Live Basic to Intermediate Step aerobics, 41 minutes, heart rate 121/145, 187 calories, 3,395 steps. I then did Summer Ready Arms and Abs (really upper body with shoulders and upper back) 53 minutes, 129 calories, heart rate 94/123, 712 steps. I finished with Mobility Flow relaxing with neck and shoulder bonus, 27 minutes, heart rate 82/107, 52 calories. Total time 2 hours 1 minute, 368 calories, 4,107 steps. I was so mad today when I got a call from Tela Flora saying that they did not get the flowers delivered due to an illness? on Saturday for the funeral. Why did they not find another florist? Then the tell me they can deliver tomorrow. I told them the funeral was Saturday and I paid extra to get them before one. Give me a refund. My daughter said she had a similar experience in the past with them. So she goes to a local florist.

Yesterday I did Muscle Meltdown Triceps and 10 minutes of core work. I also worked a 4 hour shift in the afternoon.

Cathy-Great job with Total Body Barre and Love Me Some Cardio Kickboxing. Total Body Barre sounds like a good one for me. I love Cathe's kickboxing too but that one sounds pretty tough with air jacks at the end.

Valerie-Great job with the elliptical, therapy work, xtrain abs and extra situps. That is a very long drive. I don't mind 4-5 hours but anything over that is pretty rough.

Carolyn-Great job with yoga and Cardio Supersets express.

Diane Sue-Great job with the CDorner workouts. That sounds like a good combination. I'm sorry about the flowers. I don't blame you for being mad. You should definitely get a refund.

This morning I did Gym Style Back, Shoulders, and Biceps timesaver. My time was 44 minutes with 244 calories burned. My average heart rate was 126 and maximum heart rate was 168.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner step, abs and arms, and mobility flow. That’s terrible about the flower delivery for the funeral. You are certainly justified in being really angry with them.

Judy, great job with Muscle Meltdown Triceps and core work.

Waving hello to Valerie and Cathy.

Today I did 30 minutes of Peloton lower body strength work and a 10 minute stretch.

Carolyn-Nice job with Gym Style Back, Shoulders, and Biceps.

Hi to Valerie, Cathy & Diane Sue

busy busy day, but got it all done including a road ride, our usual 15 miles. it was raining and hailing at the trailhead when we got there, so we drove a few miles back to another start point and rode the trail in the opposite direction and then back to our usual start point, then back to our car. worked well, got in our 15 and got sunshine too.

diane sue they should be apologizing all over the place and refunding your money. totally wrong.

Today I did CDorner All Standing To the Beat Low Impact/walking workout no jumping, 32 minutes, heart rate 138/163, 187 calories, 3,952 steps. This is a fun workout with good music that I go back to a lot. I felt I needed to avoid too much as my knee was hurting a certain angle after kneeling on stone edging in the yard yesterday. I followed this with 20 minutes of CDorner Hiit Barre with dumbbells. I did one round of the weight part which was targeting shoulders and used 2# dumbbells while Chris used 3's. I burned 95 calories with this one and heart rate was 118/145, 969 steps. I finished with her Full Body Static Stretch from today, 30 minutes, 46 calories, heart rate 78/98. I needed those long stretches today. Total time was 82 minutes, 328 calories, 4,921 steps. I got my new Hoka Bondi 8 shoes on Sunday. I am liking them a lot. I looked for the ones recommended for my foot issues and got the wide width. I can actually stand to walk around in them all day without foot swelling. I would like to get the Ora Recovery shoe, but am wondering if they are as roomy as the wide Bondi is. The suggestion is I get a half size larger as the recovery does not come in half sizes and by my choice for the Bondi.
I almost came back to post more last night, but realized I needed to go to bed. It was after 1 am and I had been working on catch up cleaning. I threw away shoes I am never going to wear again. Some I doubt I would tolerate anymore. I managed to get outside yesterday and do some more outside work and clean up the patio. I did not have time today to do anymore outside.
They gave me a refund on the flowers. I was able to see that on my PayPal account today.

It seems there are many workers out there that just do not care about their jobs or others. I had a package show up when my new Samsung Galaxy ear pods arrived. I thought it odd as I did not have anything else coming and thought my husband ordered something. I opened the box (it was addressed with my name on the UPS sticker). It was an odd brand of photo paper. I wondered why my husband would purchase it as we always by premium HP paper. He said he did not order paper. So I looked at the label again and it was me and our address. It had shipping labels stacked over shipping labels. I peeled them off and could read the names and addresses. So it was weird. I was looking later at my ear pods on Amazon to see if there was a warranty as they were international. It was then I noticed the seller name for the ear pods and it was the same seller that was on the top shipping label to me. Exactly the same along with the battery warning that was stuck on the paper. It was like UPS got tired of the paper package and slapped on a duplicate shipping label to my earpods and dropped it on my doorstep. Someone was not doing their job. Maybe it was a lost package or something they did not know what to do with, but why do it that way?

Cathy, I like some of the barre work, but I am not a fan of so many reps. I do not do the air jacks anymore. I can jump straight up but the landing with air jacks bothers my knee. I don't think I would make a trip that long by myself. My husband does not like to go outside evenings when there are lots of bugs. He is like a magnet. I guess I do not taste good because mosquitos usually leave me alone.

Valerie, I am usually happy if it is overcast when I have to go out in the mornings when the sun is coming up. The visors usually do not work for me either. When we were heading into Branson the sun was down just enough to be blinding. I was happy when I saw some shade ahead. I am glad my husband was the one driving. You are lucky you were not caught up in the traffic after that accident. Nice that you got in therapy work and the elliptical along with XTrain abs.

Carolyn, nice work yesterday on Cardio Supersets Express and Gym Styles Back, Shoulders, and Triceps timesaver.

Judy, nice job getting in Muscle Meltdown Triceps and 10 minutes of core work along with working yesterday and todays Peloton lower body strength and 10 minute stretch.

Valerie, I am glad that you got in your usual 15 miles. The lady I talked to was not real friendly and she did not speak English well so I kept having to have her repeat what she was saying. I told her 3 times that I want a refund. She finally repeated back to me "you want a refund' then she said okay. That was it and I got an email shortly saying I was getting a refund. Why would they think they could deliver two days after the funeral anyway.

Diane Sue-I'm glad you got a refund. That is really awful customer service to think they could deliver funeral flowers 2 days after the funeral. I agree that a lot of workers don't seem to care about their job or the quality of their work anymore. Great job with the CDorner workouts yesterday.

Valerie-Great job getting your road ride in.

Had a dentist appointment yesterday morning. Managed to get up early and do P30 PP Upper Body first thing. Then this morning I did P30 PP Lower Body. Version I made removes the two legged deadlifts and adds the bonus floor work, was one exercise away from done and the internet went bye bye. Came back about 10 minutes later, but I just stretched on my own. It's been thundering all morning, but storms are west and north of us so far. And we have our first tornado watch of the year.

Valerie I have the same issues driving east as the sunrises. Main reason I started leaving Marquette no early than 9:30-10:00 to head home. The first three hours are almost all going east, so if I leave sooner and it's sunny, I'm bound to catch it somewhere. Going north it's never an issue. I spent a fair number of years working where I had to drive east in the morning and west going home and there's a period where sunglasses don't even help. I hate mosquito bites but they generally don't bother me long, OTOH I avoid black flies. Those little suckers make me swell up around the bite. I've managed to not encounter then since the mid-90's. Great that you got in a good ride.

Diane Sue I'm glad you got a refund, but what a horrible thing to have happen, and they should have been able to find some other means of getting them there. I'm actually sometimes air jacks, sometimes I just jump, a lot depends on the day, the workout and how much energy I have. That is weird about that happening? We had that happen, but I the phone number on the package wasn't ours even though the name and address was. Called the number and that person had had a mixup and hadn't paid for it, and said keep it. It's now Flopsy's favorite cat toy. LOL

Judy you should really give the Total Body Barre workout a try!

Carolyn great job with the Gym Style workout. I so rarely pull out the old workouts. And when I do I'm always surprised to realize how good they were. Often different that what's done now, but still quite effective.

This morning I did JS 30 Minute Fat Blaster. That was 30 minutes, 220 calories burned, average heart rate 136, and maximum heart rate 167. I had my virtual WW meeting after that.

Judy, great job with Peloton lower body strength and stretch.

Valerie, great job with the 15 mile road ride.

Diane Sue, great job with the CDorner Cardio, HiiT Barre, and full body stretch. That florist had terrible service. I’m glad that you have your refund. Enjoy your new Hokas

Cathy, great job with Perfect Pump Upper Body and Perfect Pump Lower Body. It’s good that you use the Blender to personalize your workouts.

Have a nice day everyone.

so last night something happened to our email and things stopped. nothing going in or out. spent the morning with microsoft trying to get it to work again. not sure what caused the jam up. didn't do anything we know of to cause the problem. ended up deleting a ton of old photographs we did not intentionally put on the drives. we use apple phones and laptop but windows desktops. sometimes there is a failure to communicate. deleting the photos that were not intended to live there anyway. my system does not have a photo program but they ended up there anyway. systems "talk" to each other and do things you never intended.

ha ha... cathy, you would not benefit from the visor in a vehicle either. visor works ok after the sun is higher in the sky but early morning and evening are harsh. sunglasses help a little. last year I bought some inexpensive stick- on window shades to cover the side windows. they dont interfere with the side mirrors but cut the glare for times when the sun is blazing in from the side. a few minutes are no big deal but for hours? it is a big deal.

planned on riding this morning but the email jam up derailed that plan. computer wont work right for 24 hours but at least working again. stops all the spam too! we debate changing email address but OMG that's a lot of changing to do.

ended up mt biking anyway, an hour and 10 min. going to be raining a lot the next few days so took advantage of a nice afternoon.

Today I did CDorner workouts again. I did today's Knee Friendly Leg workout,54 minutes, 110 calories, heart rate 87/119, 503 steps.I then did a short Cardio to the Beat Low Impact Disco that she put up 2 weeks ago, 22 minutes, 119 calories, heart rate 133/166, 2,193 steps. I finished with Stretch after Step 19 minutes, 33 calories heart rate 80/98. Knee friendly leg day was good as far as not requiring squats. I had a problem with my knee on the staggered single leg dead though. I had to pause and work on form not letting my knee bend and not going too low. There is a problem with my left knee the last few days. It kind of worries me because certain positions hurt and putting pressure on it at those angles makes it feel like it is going to give out. It has been a log time since I have had it want to give out like that. It did it off and on after I had the miniscus tear. Not sure what is going on. It also made it hurt when I went outside to do some more work with shrubs and plants. I did not kneel this time, I just squated down and tried to do stuff that way. It feels okay now. Chris used 30's for the deadlifts.

Knee Friendly Leg Day
45 seconds each move using dumbbells, tubing, and a stability ball

Deadlift series
deadlift 20# dbs
staggered single leg deadlift 15# dbs right
staggered single leg deadlift 15# dbs

stability ball

bridge with feet on the ball
roll ins with ankles on the ball
roll in/bridge
pulsing bridge

Deadlifts series
same as above

Tubing
lying single leg extension 1 foot in handle wrapped around other foot to right length right single count
2 up 3 down
4/4 count
repeat on other leg

Deadlift Series with the option to do the single leg balancing

side lying inner thigh work
lift leg foot flexed
lift toe pointed pulsing
flex and point lifting
side lying tree pose lift

Cathy, there was no phone numbers on the package. The labels underneath the first address was to someone in GA the second I cannot remember, the shippers business address was in GA, but I looked up the street address and satellite picture and it says it is a residence. Although a very large residence. It was on Zillow. There was a Phone number inside the package of the seller, but it was China, not US and a Chinese name to contact if problems with the paper. I am not calling China for photo paper. We had T shirts that we did not get from Amazon that were shipped UPS and the seller said they were signed for by someone named Grey. I told them through Amazon that there is no Grey here and I did we did not get them. About 8 months later this package shows up with other stuff and is all torn up and retaped to keep it shut and it was the T shirts that were refunded. Even the plastic bags the shirts were in were torn up.
Nice work on PP Upper Body yesterday and then getting PP Lower in this morning.

Valerie, I hate when plans get derailed like that. Computers are a pain sometimes. I worry about losing our email. My husband has his own Domain and a lot of the family have used it for their email addresses. If something happens my husband has to remember his info to fix it. One time my daughter who uses hers for work got locked out and it took some time to get her back up and running.
I have spent hours with my cell phone and pictures trying to back up to the computer and make my cell phone quit putting the same photos in several different folders. I thought I had straightened it out, but when I pull them up there they are 3 to 4 of the same picture. Before I had to buy a new SD card for it I had all of my photos sent to it. I had to back up and somehow it did not handle it the same. Plus the T Mobile upgrades have made things harder to find. I hate T Mobile. When the contract is up we will go back to AT&T. Glad you still got a Bicycle ride in.

Carolyn, nice work with Jessica Smith Fat Blaster this morning. What do they do in a virtual WW meeting?
