Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 4/17/22

Thought we were going to ride this morning and but it seemed too cloudy and cold. started working on a plumbing issue. clouds seemed to be burning off, so we changed our minds and went for a 15 mile ride on the close by trail. it was pretty pleasant and not busy. so 1 hr 20 min. now back to plumbing . we have a small water leak somewhere and can't find it. its not new and it's small.

Yesterday I did 30 Minute Hiit Express (I think that's what it's called) and then the core from Fit Tower workouts. I'd forgotten how tough that segment is! Today was the LAST leg workout of STS. YAY! One more workout to go. It's snowing here again. Ugh so over it. Actually right now over 90% of Michigan is getting snow. But it's already inched above freezing and headed toward 40. Short lived but dang at some point it just needs to stop until oh Christmas Eve!

Valerie great that you got to fit in a ride around your plumbing! Hope you found the issue.

This morning I did P30 Low Impact HiiT and the Extended Stretch. That was 37 minutes and 232 calories burned. My average heart rate was 127 and maximum heart rate was 161.

Valerie, nice job with the 1.5 hour ride in spite of the cold, cloudy start to the day. I hope that the plumbing repair worked out for you.

Cathy, great job with 30 Minute HiiT Express, Fit Tower Core, and the last STS legs. That’s a tough core workout.

Hello to Judy and Diane Sue.

Yesterday and today I did 1 hour Peloton rides. We had snow today, like Cathy mentioned. It's a little disheartening but the temps are supposed to be in the 70's by the weekend.

Carolyn-Great job with P30 Low Impact HiiT and the Extended Stretch.

Valerie-Great ride as usual!

Cathy-Nice job with 30 Minute Hiit Express, Fit Tower Core, and STS Legs! I'm going to have to revisit the Fit Tower workouts and do that core workout again.

Hi to Diane Sue

Plumbing leak persists. we think it's a toilet but not sure. hate to replace the toilet and the shut off valve( need a plumber for that ) and still have an issue. we've realized there is a problem for months and can't locate it. we have a pressurizer on our water system. a pump that goes on automatically to increase water pressure. when no water is being used, it goes off every 17 minutes. nothing is getting wet so it must be draining into an appropriate place but would LOVE to get this solved. wastes water and wears out the pump.

did 20 min on the elliptical, some push ups, dips, and an x train abs yesterday.

we are still cold and rain most of the week. some years it feels like spring will never get here, and then I remember that is what spring is like!

Judy we had to buy more bagged mulch at Lowes. the same thing. we bought it inside at main checkout with a pic of the UPC, went to the outdoor stacks, moved the parking cones, drove in, loaded our mulch, put the cones back and drove off without anyone even around. maybe theft of heavy bulky stuff isn't a problem? I will do a spin later today and shoot for an hour like you do so regularly.

This morning I did part of PHA3 for 36 minutes and 189 calories burned. My average heart rate was 126 and maximum heart rate was 154. I didn’t get to do all that I had planned. My workout was cut short when my husband had a minor medical issue. I stopped to help him and fortunately he was fine shortly after.

Judy, great job with the 1 hour Peloton ride. Winter does seem to be hanging on this year and I hate it.

Valerie, nice job with the elliptical, push-ups, dips, and XTrain Abs.

Hello to Cathy and Diane Sue.

Well I was supposed to do cardio today, but after having no repercussions from my leg workouts, yesterdays nailed me but good! So I ended up doing Stretch Max with the band. Last STS tomorrow which will barely involve legs and then shopping and hopefully by Friday cardio won’t be an issue.

Someone had inquired on the forum about the road-trip tanks, and Tshirts, so I just now ordered one of the Stay Strong and Cathe On tanks! paid through PayPal so hopefully it won’t take long to get here.

Carolyn great job with P30 Low Impact Hiit and stretch and PHA 3!

Valerie sorry you haven’t found your leak. Nice job with the Elliptical, push-ups, dips and Abs!

Judy great job with the Peloton ride! the weather is just crazy here! This weekend in the 70’s and within a couple days back into the 40’s. Ugh I’m on a lot of UP pages and even people up there are tired of it. I’m heading north next Wednesday and it looks okay right now. Though it certainly won’t be warm. LOL

things didn't work out as planned. got balled up in a major traffic back up getting back from grocery store. a major accident closed the highway down and it required some slow winding work-arounds. glad I wasn't in the thick of it, but it ate up a chunk of my workout time. I had grocery and costco to do today. I managed to get in x train abs, and a series of very fast paced rapid sequential exercises, several sets of curls, dips, push ups, tricep push ups and shoulder raises. a half an hour of work. beats nothing, but it wasn't the spin I wanted to do. we want to xc ski tomorrow so this might have worked out for the better anyway. we have been in 30's and 40's most days with a few breaks where its in the 50's but not for too long.

STS done! Yay! Won't start a new rotation until a week from Saturday, since this will be a rest week and I leave next Wednesday to go get Derek. Sunny and mid-50's so I'll get out and walk this afternoon. Play another round of how wet and muddy are the paths. Gonna have to wash off my boots before I head north as they are really muddy and I don't want to wear them in my car if it turns out I need them.

Valerie sorry that your day got messed up yesterday. And kudos for still gettin in a good combo of exercises!

This morning I did a timesaver from Rockout Knockout. That was 39 minutes and 298 calories burned. My average heart rate was 137 and maximum heart rate was 162.

Cathy, congratulations on finishing STS! You have certainly earned the rest week before you decide on your next rotation. How did you order the Cathe tank? Did you call customer service?

Valerie, I’m sorry that traffic problems interfered with your workout plans. Great job on pivoting to doing your own workout.

Hello to Judy and Diane Sue.

Yesterday I did XTrain Burn Sets, all upper body premix. I added on a 15 minute Peloton scenic ride last night. This morning I did 4 DS Lower Body, strength only. Back to work tomorrow, and I'm sure it will be crazy with the warmer temps this coming weekend.

Valerie-I'm sorry about the traffic problems but great that you got a good workout in anyway. That's crazy how they have the mulch at Lowes. There might be less of a theft risk though because they are so heavy and also not that expensive. Home Depot still doesn't let customers go out to the parking lot and load their own.

Carolyn-I'm sorry about your husband's medical issue. I'm glad he's fine now. Great job with PHA3 and Rockout Knockout.

Cathy-congratulations on finishing STS! That is awesome! I saw that post about the road trip shirts and have been thinking about ordering one.

Hi to Diane Sue

Did our planned ski this morning. just under 3 hours. there is more snow than a month ago, at least at the 2500-3000 foot elevation. it might be officially spring but the snow pack is still building. snow itself was not great but it's great exercise and fun to see what kind of animal tracks are there. bear deer squirrel rabbit and what I think is a pine marten. some larger, weasel type of critter. never see "it" just tracks.

cathy congrats on finishing STS. a great accomplishment.

Judy I dont understand the Lowes thought process at all. they are absolutely rigid when it comes to checking everything that is driven out of their covered lumber yard area. stealing bags of mulch is probably not big business. on sale for $2 a bag and because its outside in the rain, heavy. there seems to be no pre set way for people to buy this kind of thing there. we dont mind loading our own but nobody offers anything either. you would think at check out they would automatically call someone to do the load out. we never saw a single person anywhere around.

We had Easter at my son's house and they grilled and had festivities outside as they have a huge built in grill and patio area for it. Only thing was it was windy and chilly. We were standing around the fire pit to keep warm. It was pretty. Wish it was not so windy though. They had the birthday cake and birthday's celebration indoors. We have birthdays almost every month of the year as family grows so we do them each gathering. I bet there were a couple 100 filled eggs to hunt. It goes quick as there is usually money and this time Chic-fil-a gift cards in some of them.
Monday was PT. Yesterday I did CDorner Butt and Abs which is mostly body weight with a band segment in it, 54:50 minutes, 164 calories, heart rate 103/149, 1,661 steps.
I followed that with Raw Get up and move and modified cardio finisher, 16:52 minutes, heart rate 118/140, 82 calories, 1,894 steps. Total time was 71 minutes, 246 calories, 3,555 steps.
Today I did CDorner Intermediate Step Aerobics live #200, 33 minutes, heart rate 112/140, 141 calories, 2,6674 steps. I followed with using some of Raw shoulder and neck limitations and worked in PT exercises. This was 52 minutes 114 calories, heart rate 85/114, 1,715 steps. I finished off with CDorner mobility flow, first 21 minutes, heart rate 76/92, 31 calories. Total time was, 1 hour 46 minutes, 286 calories.
I have two appointments Friday and two next week for doctors and testing. Not looking forward to the trip or the tests. I hope to have a decent cardio workout tomorrow as I just did not seem to be able to get my heart rate up much today.

This morning I did ICE Boot Camp Circuit for 47 minutes and 302 calories burned. My average heart rate was 130 and maximum heart rate was 171.

Judy, great job with XTrain Burn Sets Upper Body, Peloton ride and 4 Day Split Lower Body strength.

Cathy, thanks for the link to the thread with the shirt information. I didn’t think to look there.

Diane Sue, your family’s Easter get together sounds like a lot of fun. Great job with your workouts. I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow too. I don’t know if I will have time to workout before I go.

Hello to Valerie.

Going on another trip, a short one, to visit SIL and BIL. we owe them a visit so will set off this weekend. only about a 6 hr drive. we dont have a thing in common. always hard to find things to do.
I know everyone has a right to do things they want in their own house... BUT they turn on the TV as soon as they get up, and it is on all day, every second. I don't think they have a TV in their bedroom too but they might.
we turn ours on around 4 for news, then watch a series or two during dinner. not background noise all day ,every minute. it makes me crazy, trying to think, talking over the constant racket. BIL has a hearing problem so its pretty loud besides. for that reason we drive our camper. we go outside for a break and quiet time. my DH's parents were like this, at least one TV constantly with sports. I cant, or rather I refuse .... deal with it. I can't tell them to turn it off, it is their house, but it cuts the visits WAY short. DH is bothered just as much. he grew up with it and appreciates not listening to the din. his father had one to 3 TV's on constantly, loud, with sports. We watch what we want, then turn it off. they never stayed long at our house because we wouldn't do it. I told FIL I would turn the TV on in the exercise room in the basement if he wanted but he would have to go there to watch. We did not see them often , maybe that's why. my MIL was a sweet woman and we liked to visit with her. DH and I were totally united on this front! why drive 800 miles to visit and then listen to some idiotic sports program that drowns out everything else? this was not a special bowl game or something, just daily sports garbage.

did the spin today pedal power, but 39 min. didn't make the 60 I wanted. hiking tomorrow early so didn't want to push the time too much and I had a pretty busy day.

No workout today. I had a dermatology appointment this morning which took a while. I developed a serious dermatitis condition from one of my BP medications. At least that what we think. I started taking the medication in February 2021. The skin problem started gradually a few months afterwards. My primary care doctor changed that medication, but my skin reaction is in overdrive now. The dermatologist gave me a shot and two prescriptions for topical medication.

Valerie, every household has routines and habits that can be uncomfortable for guests. Traveling with the camper is a great way to deal with the problem. You can spend time with your in-laws and take a break when you need it.

Hello to All and have a wonderful day.
