Good morning,

This morning I did a pre-mix from Gym Style Legs. I hate the floor work in that one and the pre-mix is the standing portion. Perfect for me. I think I will be very sore tomorrow. I haven't worked legs this way in a while.

Joan, does the FitBit help you stay focused? I have been so unfocused on diet for a while now. Vegas does not seem like a good place if you are trying to watch what you eat. Although, any place can be bad. Did you get the Low Impact series?

Garance, Valerie, Josie, I know you are always interested in good makeup finds. The concealer made by Rimmel is amazing. I found it on Make up Alley, and the reviews made me go out and get it. It's cheap ( around $5.99), and is the best I have ever seen. It actually covered up my dark circles, and a couple of brown spots I have on my face. I am going to go back and grab a couple more before the word gets out on this stuff. Here is the link:

Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer reviews - Makeupalley

will check back later...

I did get the low impact series. I tried several but wasn't impressed.

Deb I really try to do more now that I have the fitbit. It's so much easier to wear and no one sees it. It sends you little messages during the day as reminders.

I got a lot of walking in yesterday and my shins are killing me. I decided I better get new shoes. I bought 2 new ones last night.

Family coming soon so I better get some work done.

Joan

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Valerie--

This morning I did STS total body (65 min.). I don't particularly like the final stretch on this one. Something about that downward dog with one leg lifted up in the air bothers me. Otherwise, I like this one.

Deb, thanks for the makeup tip. I will check to see if they have it at my Rite-Aid. I really like Rimmel eyeliner pencil--the one that you can gradually twist out. It's soft enough to go on easily and smudges nicely, too.

Joan, I love the low impact series except for the yoga dvds. I've been doing them constantly, so I expect to burn out on them pretty soon. Really improved my cardio endurance and lost 3 lbs. without any change in my diet. The last series by Cathe that I did for 6 mos. was the Intensity series. I still have it on video.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend ladies!

Good morning,

I just finished CC#5, 35 minutes of it at least. Very tough.

It's 64 degrees right now, supposed to go up to 78...yay!!! It may come with rain though, not sure..

Garance, I don't like that move in that one either, so I just do a regular downward dog, no leg lift...

Valerie, did you do the rides you wanted to do this weekend?

Josie, 100 miles?

Off to get into the shower and get ready....

Take care,

DH was on call this weekend and it was busy so we didn't ride. now that all the patients records are online... it's harder to get away unless it's very quiet, which this was not. weather was lovely but the phone and beeper were persistent so we did garden work here. another load of compost, a ton, and spread it. planted things transplanted things, hiked up and downhill. it was a busy 2 days, no idle time. no formal exercise but I got in plenty of work.

friday late I did treadmill, pushups, and the Ab part of TBarre.

I agree with Linda, like LIS a lot. we do the leg up move in yoga so I'm used to that one.

off to get breakfast.

Good morning Ladies,

The ride was 78 grueling miles. There were so many hills and we had 15 to 20 mph winds. I got a free microdermabrassion session when we were on our way home riding along the bike path from Manhattan Beach to Playa del Rey. This ride was the hardest ride I’ve done so far.

On Sunday I slept until 8:00 and laid on the couch for about 2 hours and then went and got a Chinese foot massage for $25 + 5 (tip). The masseuse worked her magic and felt 100% better at the end of the massage. The massage includes 30 minutes of work on your feet where the apply acupressure and then 30 minutes of work on your head, shoulders, arms, hands and then the back.

Today I plan to go to the gym and take a boot camp class.

Deb, thank you for the concealer information. I will go to CVS today and give it a try.

Hi Garance, Valerie and Joan!

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Valerie--

This morning I did After Burn (54 min.).

Tra la! It's going up into the 80s today. It's just nice to have a taste of summer, even if it doesn't last. We had some much-needed rain last night. Things are soooo dry here. Hope we don't have a drought summer.

Some old friends showed up yesterday evening, so we ended up going out to dinner. Our favorite restaurant. I had the comfort meal--boeuf bourguignon was the entree, and it was excellent. Others had pork because they had just visited the farm and spent time with DH's pigs and wanted to see what all the fuss was about with the duroc heritage breed that the chef likes so much. We had a great time, but it did get a bit late.

Hah! a free microdermabrasion from the wind and sand. Not my idea of a cosmetic procedure, Josie. The foot massage, on the other hand, sounds lovely.

Hope my students don't ask for class outside. It never works, so I will refuse.

I went out and bought a pretty flowered spring dress. I don't know that I will wear it on vacation. Although that was why I bought it. I need to lose a little more of my tummy first.

I'm leaving tomorrow morning and will be bqck late Tuesday the 24th.

Joan

Good morning,

a bad night, and not the fault of the dogs. Long story that I will relay once I get back from the bank.

will bb later...

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Valerie--

This morning I did LIC (51 min.).

Well, things are back to normal temperature-wise today. Yesterday felt like July. Today feels more like May, so it's still in the 60s.

I hope it's nothing serious, Deb.

Have a great vacation, Joan! Hey, just get some Spanx and enjoy your new dress.

Hi,

Just finished going over my bank accounts...I had I guess what amounts to a "phishing" e-mail that looked like it came from my bank. Needless to say, I clicked on it and it made a mess of things. Long story short, I have closed my on-line banking, with a note to not open it again without me being at the branch with I,D. Nothing happened so far with the accounts. That is what I wanted to be at the bank first thing for. I also signed up for IdentifyGuard...where they will be monitoring all transactions like anyone trying to open a credit card/line in my name. This is really scary.

Josie, sounds like a tough ride, especially if there was sand and stuff blowing in your face.

Joan, enjoy your vacaion!

Valerie, I think what you did could be called GardenMax. I bet the fact that you can do that much can be attributed to all the hard workouts you do.

Garance, we went up to 81 here yesterday, now it's around 50.

Well I took the morning off, to do the bank stuff, debating taking the whole day. I didn't sleep but maybe an hour total last night worrying.

Take care,

Hi again, Deb--

Gosh, I would be sleepless too if I were worrying about identity-theft with my accounts. Sounds like you nipped the scam in the bud, though.

Ugh, suddenly I have two more deadlines. Must read two student honors theses and write a letter in support of a local film series on women. Both by the end of the month. Sigh!

Yes, let's have a great big group cheer for SPANX! smoothes everything nicely... clothes look so much better! fairly comfortable besides. Can we thank Oprah for publicizing these? I heard about them there first.

Josie, that sounds like a heck of a workout. sometimes wind is such an energy -sapper. hills you can see as the reason for hard pedaling, but wind insidiously ( but invisibly) wears you down. I see how the spinning is a tremendous help to riding stronger. I wanted to sell my bike shoes but DH doesn't want me to, and seems to think I should keep trying them. I finally got over the toe blisters they gave me so I'm not excited.

Yoga this morning... she is making us do a lot of tricep work....I did Cardio supersets last night after a day spent getting truck serviced and trying to shop for plants in heavy rain. DH's day off at least, so we can take 2 cars and I don't have to sit for hours at the dealer. Today it's dryer but other things to get done. Off tomorrow will be wet again.

DH does more lifting duties in the garden than I do but I try to hold my own. I'm still not doing upper body workouts because of that lingering shoulder problem... it has slowly but surely gotten better. I do things that don't bother it, like planks, pushups, yoga, and "heavy" gardening. Lots of digging and shoveling. I wish I knew what specific exercise caused the injury because I'd avoid it for sure. .

We had to readjust our vacation time due to DH's work demands and I was looking at June. Do any of you have the Cathe calendar? If you do, look at "June" and explain to me how ANYONE can get their hand in that position. I'm stunned. maybe normal people can do this and I'm never noticed before.... but I don't think so.
-----------------
Wow... a lot going on while I was typing. That is one thing we have never done... banking online. I know there are security risks no matter how you bank, but am reluctant to change over. Hope you caught things in time Deb. I would have been on the doorstep at 9am!

Good morning,

still not really settled on this bank thing. It has not taken up a place in my mind and I can't stop thinking about all the "what if's? " I stll can't believe I fell for it. I guess they are getting better and better at it.

Garance, will these "assignments" that you have to be done be the last that you do? I can't wait for this time next year for me. I think what I will miss most is the contact with all the different people. I think if it wasn't for work, I would be like a hermit or something.

Valerie, now I have to go downstairs and look at the June month of the calendar to see what you are referring to...Yes, Hooray for Spanz! I read that most actresses on any red carpet wear them, even if they are a stick size 2!

Off for more coffee...I can't sleep when in bed, and I can't stay awake when I'm up..

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, and Valerie--

This morning I did Total Body Trisets, upper body split (56 min.).

Deb, can you describe what the phishing email said or asked you to do? Just in case any of us might find it equally bamboozling.

Well, I won't have to read senior honors theses anymore. The other thing is a letter of recommendation for a proposal to the Humanities Council here in Massachusetts--for a women in film series at our local arthouse cinema.

Had my annual physical this afternoon, and decided to see someone next week about my varicose veins. Hey--might as well get rid of them with this new technology. They are unsightly, although they don't really bother me. Doctor said to go for it.

I don't think spanx make you any smaller, just a sleeker line so clothes hang better. smooth out those little bumps. True if you're a size 2 or a size 18. especially with knits. I'd wear them for special occasions not for everyday. jeans are not an issue!

I don't have varicose veins but if I did, I'd do it in a heartbeat. My grandmother, mother and sister have them so I lucked out. I remember with the old technology... the vein stripping procedures... they used to come back. I don't know how good the new procedures are for recurrence but make sure you ask.

Did AT yesterday. that one is tough... the beginning cardio sequence about kills me. I have a high step and not a lot of room and I don't want to trip and stumble. Haven't done it in a while. the rest went smoothly. Did a short mt bike this morning, about 1.5 hrs. enough to feel like we did something. pretty muddy and I fell over a tree root and banged up my calf and knee. nothing serious but sometimes I feel like when I was a kid and always had scabs and bruises.

Good morning,

Up since 3:00, I can't seem to sleep once I wake up.

Garance, the e-mail looked like it was from my bank ( M&T). It had all the colors, logos etc. In the body it said that there was an important security message for me, and to click on the link to retrieve it. When you opened the link, it was the identical sign on screen for on-line banking. However, M&T said that they did not send out this message. I tried to sign on, using what I thought was my user name and password but they did not work. I hadn't been on in a long time so I tried to reset my password, ( yes they had that link there as well, which looked exactly like the real one) and it took me to that page, of course it would not change my password, but in order to do that, you had to key in your SS#, which stupid me did. When John told me it was most likely a phishing e-mail, I called the bank and spoke to someone who checked and said he did not see that M&T sent that out, He did say that the user name I was trying to use was not the correct one, so they did not get the ability to get to the accounts that way, however they probably now have my name and SS#. He gave me the names and numbers of the 3 credit bureaus. and with I ended up signing up with Identity Guard. also diabled my on line banking, with a note in the file that in order to have it again, I personally have to go to a branch and show ID. Sorry for the long winded answer. I would get the veins done too! I have some spider veins, that I hate, but will probably leave them alone.

Valerie, agree on the Spanx, they are great. I wouldn't wear them with jeans...too uncomfortable for one thing. Lucky that you didn't get seriously hurt with the fall...

Take care,

Deb, thanks for the info about the phishing scheme. I have no idea how that stuff works but this gives me a better idea. like I said, we don't do online banking so I don't follow this too closely.

One thing that surprised me was shredding some older medical records and how often and obviously SSN's showed up. like it was risk free... seemed every document had the number at least once. more later.

Hi Deb, Josie, and Valerie--

This morning I did Cardio Supersets (41 min.).

Thanks for that information, Deb. I can understand how one might be fooled into providing information when the e-mail looks exactly like the bank's logo.

I'm doing AT tomorrow, and I agree about the opening cardio section, Valerie. I am so glad when things start to slow down after about 25-28 min. of high octane, heart pumping work. I really find the triceps work tough, too.

All the student ID's were formerly their S.S. #s. Ironic how the internet has made as many problems as it has solved. Not sure if progress isn't overrated.

Hi Ladies,

I went spinning on Tuesday plus 20 minutes on the elliptical, yesterday I decided to take a class called TNT. I was soaking wet by the end of the class and could not sleep last night because I was so wired up, but I loved it and will be taking the class again on Monday’s and Wednesday. Today I will be spinning.

My DD is graduating on May 5th, can you believe it! Remember when we were visiting schools? She has done so well in school and we are so proud of her 

My DH and I will be celebrating our 22nd anniversary, so I will be dancing the night away on Saturday. Can’t wait!

Garance, My grandmother on my dad’s side had very bad varicose veins. I remember coming back from school when I was a kid and finding a pool of blood in the bathroom because one of her varicose veins had busted, that’s how bad they were. My DM also has them, but I have been very lucky and don’t have any at all. I attribute not having them to being a runner through out my life. One of my dear friends has had the procedure and had very good results, so go for it!

Deb, thank you for the information on the baking issue. We still pay our bill by mail.

Hi Valerie!
