Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 4/15

I will be giving my DD a graduation card from our pet Astro, because she made him promise that he would be here when she graduated but as you know we lost him in March.

This is what it says:

Maribel,

I’m sorry that I could not be with you on your graduation like I promised, but God needed a new pet and he chose me.

I love you and I’m very proud of you! I miss you very much but most of all I miss you
scratching behind my ear and my tummy, I also miss you cleaning my ears ;)

I do not miss my baths, but here in heaven I don’t need one, I’m always clean and I look
young again and my legs don’t hurt anymore. I can chase the possums again ;)

I’m going to ask God to help you find a good pet so that you will love him/her as much as you did me.

Love you!

Astro

Good morning,

Still not sleeping well, up at 3:00 for a dog, then up at 4:45.

Valerie, I don't do on line banking either. Never would. I just opened the account in 2008 so I could check my balances if needed. I don't think I ever even did it. That is why it's bugs me even more. Yes, if you think about all the forms you put your SS# on, and that they pass through a lot of people's hands, it makes you wonder. You have to hope though, that the people that see these, ( doctor's offices, insurance company emplopyees) are not looking for this stuff to use in a malicious way. The e-mail scammers are out to do this and you know that is why they are gathering the information.

Garance, keep us posted on the varicose vein treatment. What kind of place are you going to?

Josie, I love the card for your daughter from Astro, how sweet that was to do.

I will be working at our Agility trial all day tomorrow. I hope we get good weather for Sunday so we can do some yard work. What is everyone else up to this weekend?

Take care,

Deb, these were older insurance forms from the '90's.... SSN# plastered all over them, before anyone was using account or transaction #'s. I've never felt OK about online banking. I am guessing eventually the banks will charge us extra for anything that's not online though.

Have you thought about outsmarting your dogs by going to bed earlier? we usually get up between 4-5 but we go to bed by 8 so it's enough sleep.

Did S&G again yesterday. the cardio is not as intense or long, but with the rest of the disk it's a thorough workout. my yoga class was not as hard as usual. we had a guest instructor. she had us doing a lot of balances.... like on one leg. I'm not good at those.

Josie, congrats on your 22nd! the latest I can exercise is 4-5. later than that ruins my sleep. takes me too long to unwind, or I fall asleep but wake up every little while.

we're going to try to do a ski overnight this weekend. we haul a sled up to some nice view spot. it's hard to carry overnight gear. pack gets heavy. you need more stuff to stay comfortably in snow. so we pack it in a sled, DH pulls it, I ski behind and help steer it and keep it upright. uphill is tough, downhill not bad at all. it's hard to find roads that are accessible, go to good spots not taken over by snowmobilers. we cleared this road ourselves over a couple ski trips, cutting trees to make a clear enough path for skiing.

Hi Deb, Josie, and Valerie--

This morning I did AT (56 min.).

Deb, I am going to a vascular surgeon about my veins. I really don't know how you keep going with so little sleep. I'd be keeling over after lunch for sure. I think tomorrow will be dry here, but then we're getting rain and lower temps on Sunday and Monday. But you might not get hit with rain where you are.

Josie, that's such a sweet card. Is your daughter planning on getting a new dog? I do remember when you were doing the college tours, so I guess we've been a group for 5-6 years now? Happy anniversary and get out there and shake your booty!

I'm off with a friend to this great yarn place in Northampton tomorrow: WEBS. They are having their annual sale and I'm stocking up. Maybe out to dinner on Sunday. Otherwise, just more class prep and thesis reading. One of my classes yesterday was really awful. When the weather gets warm and sunny, they don't really want to do anything.

Happy Friday!

I will be resting today and doing a double spin class tomorrow (2 hours). There is an official ride tomorrow (72 miles), but it is going to be very hot and the ride is hilly. I also want to get home in time to go out and celebrate and have enough energy to shake my booty ;) If I get up early on Sunday, I will ride with my team The Shifting Gears.
They have a scheduled ride up the coast and we can ride 30 or 50 miles.

Garace, my DD does want another dog, but she will get one once she moves to her own place. I will just dog sit when she needs me to. Do you knit or crochet? I’ve always wanted to learn how to knit.

Valerie, I went to bed at 10:00 last night and woke up at 4:15. I’ve noticed that lately I have been waking up after sleeping for 6 hours. If I workout any later than 7:30 I will not be able to sleep. The TNT class was hard and my body was so wired up that I could not relax. I plan on doing the class again on Monday and Wednesday at 5:30 and see if I’m able to sleep.

Deb, I hope that you get some rest this weekend :)

Have a great weekend!

Josie

Garance, I think I am used to the little sleep now. It's pouring down here right now..ugh. I know we need the rain but it's depressing, especially since it was so nich all week while I was working.

Valerie, If we went to bed earlier, she would only get up earlier, she can sleep about 6 hours and then wants to go out. I think it will get better as she gets older. I am amazed at what you and your DH do. Somehow being out in that cold over night, etc is not what I would call "fun" LOL...but you all know that I am not an outside kind of girl...

Josie, do you use the Cathe spin DVD? I don't remember hearing whether you liked it or not.

Well off to to ready for the trail, will check in agan later,

Have a great Saturday!

Trip did not work. we packed, loaded, drove there ( about 2 hrs) and were probably half a mile from the end of the road and got a flat tire. totally flat, a sharp stone stuck in the tire tread. this is a totally obscure road, you would not get a tow truck up here for any price.

there was less snow than expected. since it's saturday we drove back down so we could get other tires mounted. could not do that on sunday. It's not safe without a spare. could NOT believe this happened again! just a small pointy rock stuck right in the center of the tire tread, I could barely get the stone out of the tire. this was not our truck but my subaru. it's easier to maneuver on small crappy mountain roads.

Deb, it's not that cold. you sleep in a tent, have insulation underneath, and a sleeping bag. I tend to get too warm, actually. it's 1000 x better than a motel. can't sleep in motels.
