Good morning,

Yesterday was a rest day for me. I burned a few calories (maybe) running Keegan in agility, but that would be minimal.

Lori, "Rock It" outside in the 30's? Wow that must have been fun to see, I hope there were no neighbors around. They would have thought there was a nut visiting from "north".. LOL. Don't you need something like Apple TV to view LIve on someone else's device? I'm still learning how this all works! How many sets of DB's do you carry and what weights? The TSA people must be wonder what you are doing when they take those out of your bags. Like Valerie said, I am surprised they don't consider them a form of "weapon". I once saw them take away a guys necklace because it had a gold hand grenade on it....they said he could threaten people with it....the guy was not happy, he said it was solid gold and didn't want to leave it with them. They let him out of line to call a friend to come and pick it up for him.

Lynda, I agree, I think this knife thing is all a publicity stunt for the TV show.

Diane Sue, what did you think of Long Strong Legs? Thanks for make up the info...will go look it up.

Valerie, yep, they are ours, "foibles" and all... right? LOL. That is what John and I say. I started watching The Fall...season 1. It really creeped me out...I only saw the first episode and I don't think I can watch any more....:(.

Hi to Judy & Josie,

A workout and HouseMax for me today,

Take care,

Good morning ladies!

Yesterday was several SB targets. All lower body and I used my ankle weights which made a really great workout.
Total time was about 50 minutes. I needed to fit in the pretzel so I made sure to add at the very end. No ankle weights for the pretzel. It is a challenge enough without!

Hahhah you ladies are funny. I mentioned they were 1lb hand weights and ankle weights but it must have been missed. They are the ones packed with sand so usually have no problem with TSA. They just need to do a double check as I am sure they look very suspicious when xrayed. They just pull my bag and do a quick check and sweep. If I was away for just a couple of days then I would have only brought bands but away for 5 days I would go crazy if I could not get in some good workouts!

Yesterday we celebrated Madeline's Bday with brunch then seeing the musical The Book of Mormon. Was a fun day. There were 11 of us which made some really great family time.

Deb...when I first went out side it was cold!!! But I quickly started to sweat. I am sure the neigbors were thinking "those yankees"!!! So far we only watched the first episode of The Fall. Agree it is creepy but we liked it and will try another episode. That knife story is crazy to come out after all this time.

Diane Sue...same here with temp. My basement is on a different zone and I keep it at 58 to 60. Perfect fome to workout. I prefer it to be cool. Until I warm up I am a little chilly but I quickly get heated up so this temp works well for me. Madeline had the house at 72 which you can see why I was ready to pass out.

Lynda...wow that was a large fibroid. Being that anemic must have made you completly exhausted all the time. Glad all is well now and that is behind you.

Judy...hope you DH is getting some relief.

Hi to Josie and Valerie!

Only a few weeks and then it is Spring! Looking forward to the warmer weather!

Deb...meant to respond about streaming. I am just watching Live on my Ipad. Not streaming to another device. I put my ipad in a prominent place so I can see...put my headset on and I am good to go!

That makes sense!

P.S Today I did Live "Triset Legs".....this is a KILLER! I used the High Step instead of the long step, which was more convenient, less space taken up. I started with 3 risers like Cathe/crew, but went down to 2, and at the end, had to go to 1 riser.....wow...a really tough lower body workout....

Hi Ladies,

Sorry for not posting last week. I almost lost my best friend of 30 years. She and her family were on vacation in Cabo and on the 3rd day she and her family were on an ATV excursion and the person in front of her created a big wall of dust and she lost her direction and wen off a cliff. She is lucky to be alive. Her injuries are, a broken left hip, broken right shoulder, laceration all over her body some worst than others and 3 fractures on her back. She was airlifted from Cabo to San Diego where she still is. My DH and I went to see her on Friday, but they would not let use see her because the Dr.'s were changing her dressings and they have to put her under. It takes a few hours to do so and after she is in and out due to all the meds. Please say a little payer for her.

I will be back later after I read last weeks posts.

Josie

Hi everyone--

This morning I did Live low impact hiit circuit (53:00). Great workout--weights and cardio covers everything.

Josie, how awful. Was she the only one injured?? Yes, I will send her a prayer.

Lori, 1 lb. hand weights aren't so bad. I was envisioning something bigger. Nice your visit is going so well. I don't know how long you will be staying down there, but you are missing some great weather up here. Should be in the 70s by Wednesday.

Deb, the second season of Bosch is starting on March 11. Two hour finale of DA tonight too. We are going out to dinner so I will probably record it and watch it later.

Diane Sue, it sounds like you had a good time with your granddaughter. 78 degrees! Lovely.

Hope you are fending off the flu, Judy, and your DH is on the mend.

Hi to Valerie!

Josie what an awful way to end a vacation! Hope she recovers quickly. Was she driving her own vehicle? I know many people who've been injured on those, especially the older 3 wheeled ones.

After the hike yesterday , we came home and loaded/ unloaded a couple truckloads of firewood, so I got an upper body workout too. And I'm happy to say my shoulder is just fine this morning. I am so pleased the shoulder issue is behind me.

Lori, yes I was thinking of bigger than 1 lb weights also. that is great you take them along and then actually use them!

Kind of a blustery day today so we hoping after lunch we can move the rest of the wood. It really is a workout. each piece isn't heavy but moving hundreds of pieces, each at least twice, adds up. we need to use our truck and will be putting the camper back on soon, so need to get the wood done ASAP.
We finished Fargo and Better Call Saul in the last couple days. I enjoyed both of them a lot and recommend them. I especially liked Saul. I think we're going to re-watch Breaking Bad next. we watched it spread out over several years so I'm looking forward to seeing it compressed into a short time, especially since we just finished the backstory to several characters in it. I liked BB but sometimes it took too long to remember the characters and what they were doing a year ago.

Oh no Josie! I am so sorry. I will keep your friend and her family in my thoughts and prayers.

Judy

Today was a rest day. My shoulder feels good right now. I just need to get rid of the neck pain. The doctor said that the rotator cuff injury probably aggravated the arthritis in my neck. I woke up this morning feeling like I had a charley horse in my neck. After I worked at loosening it up though it was much better.

Deb, I think that you can stream from most any device with the right equipment. I can stream on my ipad, galaxy note pro 12 tablet, galaxy s5 phone, or laptop. I just need the right cable from the device to the television. I can stream Cathe live from my cell phone to my HDMI capable television. I also have a cable that has video and audio jacks to the television and hooks to the ipad or iPhone. My Galaxy note 12 tablet is large enough that it is not bad to use for streaming on its own if I want. I was looking at a device to Galaxy tablet or phone to the television with an HDMI cable but it seemed so much like the roku stick that I thought maybe I would rather just buy the Roku 3. I keep researching trying to decide what my best option is for streaming. I know for travel though, if wifi is not available the streaming s not available. That is where I like the idea of downloads to take along.
I really liked live long strong legs. I was surprised that I had burned that many calories but, it really did have me nice and sweaty :) I was feeling it this morning. It seems I usually feel endurance work more often than I do heavy slower lifting. That one really puts you through all different types of work. I did modify a bit with the things like squat to overhead press and the side to side overhead stuff. I just ended up doing a couple of biceps curls when she did the overhead press. I am going to have to check out the live Trisets legs.

Lori, I have some sand weights that are 2 and 3 lb that look like bean bags, I hadn't thought about taking them with me. I bought them for the Urban Rebounding Extreme workouts. This winter we had freezing temps with ice and our power went out. My husband and grandson were downstairs with the gas fireplace going I went upstairs and did Ripped with Hiit low impact on my laptop and told them they should come and workout, I was sweating. For some reason they didn't think that sounded like a good idea :) My laptop's battery will last a couple of hours.

Jose, what happened to your friend is terrible. I will keep her in my prayers. I hope she heals well and quickly.

Lynda, I had so much fun with my granddaughter. We enjoy it a lot when our grandchildren come to stay. I think we spoil them a bit ;)

Valerie, moving all of that firewood was a good workout. I had a great dane that was good at moving firewood. It would have been nice if I could have got her to stack it instead of drag it to the door and leave it around the yard. I miss the wood burning fireplace.

Hi Judy :)

Hi Everyone,

Today was a rest day for me. Yesterday I did a couple of KCM workouts, one from Your Best Body and one from NYC. DH is doing much better today. The tamiflu seems to work pretty well. His fever broke yesterday and he started to improve quickly after that. So far I haven't had any symptoms. I did get a flu shot in October, and am hoping that will keep me from getting it. If I start to have symptoms I will call my doctor and get some tamiflu asap.

Deb-I had to get caught up on housemax today too. I got behind the past couple of days with Chris being sick.

Lori-I'm glad you are having such a great trip!

Lynda-it's supposed to get into the high 60's here this week too.

Valerie-loading firewood sounds like a great upper body workout!

Diane Sue-I have a Facebook friend who is doing Urban Rebounding Extreme. It sounds very challenging.

Josie-I hope your friend is doing better

Judy

Good morning,

Yesterday I did Live Triset Legs...47 minutes, 316 calories...

Lori, so nice that your family are all there to celebrate Madeline' B-Day. I only watched the first episode of The Fall too. I renewed in with the library, but still not sure I will continue.

Lynda, that sounds like another good workout to put on my "list" of ones to do. Thanks for the info on Bostch! I didn't get any notice from Prime about that...strange. I put it in my Watchlist. Can't wait to watch DA today. Also The Good Wife, and Grantchester. :). I think The Good Wife was on last night? They skip so many days, Blue Bloods does the same thing.

Josie, I hope your friend is better soon....When we used to go to Mexico with the association for a week each year, one of the side trips was a ATV group outing, but John and I were never into it.

Valerie, Yes, moving wood multiple times is definitely an upper body workout. Is Better Call Saul a sitcom? How many seasons? Most likely it is not available on Prime...

Diane Sue, I can't imagine a Charlie horse in your neck...I get them in my calfs...so painful! Would heat, ( dry or wet) help? Oh...didn't realize you were using the HDMI cable to stream....I like Chromecast because there is no cable to hook up...I put the ap on my Android phone and iPad and can use either. I actually like the phone better. Probably because it's smaller. Aren't grandparents supposed to spoil their grandchildren? :)

Judy, glad Chris is feeling better, that flu med did the trick. Good you have not gotten it, you are probably past the contagious stage by now.

A workout, and dog's grooming and baths today.

Take care,

The back bed of our truck is pretty tall. the wood needs to get tossed up and over. so bend down to pick up one by one, then each piece gets picked up and tossed over the side, which is level with the top of my head. when we unload, I climb into the back and pick up each piece, more squatting, and toss it towards the wood pile while DH stacks. I get a decent leg workout by doing a semi squat to pick up the pieces. It's not Cathe, but it's a good workout. we will try to finish it up wood today. also did therapy leg exercises later.

I agree... Judy... you probably dodged the bullet if you have no symptoms by now. also, the flu shot HAS to work sometimes. I haven't had the flu in many years now. I get my shot, don't have much exposure anymore. so a rest day is only 2 workouts??

Better Call Saul has 2 seasons, only one available so far. It's a story centered on the Breaking Bad characters, the slimy lawyer and Mike, the ex cop. we streamed it from Netflix. there is no date available on the second season. I really enjoyed it. written by the same guy ( vince Gilligan) who did BB.
I didn't think The Fall was that creepy. I was more intrigued with the Gillian Anderson character, Stella. Not my favorite series but certainly watchable.

this will sound weird, but I try to keep temps low enough so I don't sweat much. If I am sweating a lot I'm way overheated and can't
go for long. I use heart rate as a better gauge of working hard enough.

Hi Ladies,

I did a long ride on Saturday, it was tough and hilly. I did a run on Friday and that made the ride a little harder. I was going to go to Bodypump this morning, but it started raining and thundering and we even got some hail. I did not want to deal with the elements and the stupid drivers.

I have no new news regarding my friend since my attempt to see her on Friday. I left my number with her husband and I have been texting her every day.

Garance, no one else got hurt. Her DH was behind her and saw her going over the cliff and was able to turn around and stop the rest of the people otherwise there would have been more casualties.

Diane Sue, I love spoiling my grandkids. I always have plans to do something every day that they are here, even if its just going to the park.

Judy, glad that you did not get the flu. My DF has a 4 year old and she and the baby keep getting sick. I have been avoiding visiting and working out with her. She has been sick on and off since November.

Valerie, that sounds like a hard workout :). Glad that your shoulder is back to normal.

Lori, I'm so happy that Madeline is doing great and that you can spend time with her.

Deb, those ATV's are so dangerous and people do stupid things when they are on vacation.

Josie

Josie, my SIL rolled an ATV and broke her arm. her husband at the time was injured too. An previous neighbor was in the mts with his two sons, a jeep, ATV's. he rolled and was killed. I never knew which vehicle ATV's look stable but going too fast for conditions must play a big part. plus no seat belts or helmets. People get a little crazy on vacation and take chances they never would normally.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did Live Gloved and Ready (50 min.). Kind of a strange mix. Mostly boxing with some tabatas and blasts, but then she ends with some metabolic weight work, very short, maybe 6 sets in all.

Deb, EW announces new streaming series. House of Cards is currently streaming on Netflix in its 4th season. I watched DA last night and it ended happily I guess. Kind of blah, though--not like the end of Doc Marten, which I thought had a great finale. What I found extremely creepy about The Fall is that the serial killer is played by Jamie Dornan, who is also the male lead in Fifty Shades of Grey. I never read the books, but I know the 'hero' of those soft porn novels is into bondage.

Judy, it does sound like you will be okay. I didn't know that Tamiflu was so effective. That's great that your DH has turned the corner so quickly.

Valerie, do you have a wood burning furnace? That is definitely a workout.

Josie, after all that cycling and running you deserve a day off. Hope your friend heals quickly. That was quite a fall. Anyone responsible for that dust cloud?

Diane Sue, like Deb, I can't imagine what your neck must feel like. Is it just very, very stiff?

Hi to Lori!

This morning I did Cathe live tri-sets legs 47 minutes 338 calories. I then did part of live To the Mat legs and icy core doing the warm up and stability ball portions and going near the end and doing some of the core work (lower ab emphasis) and stretch, 26 minutes, 102 calories. Total time was 73 minutes, 440 calories. I did notice that that there was weighted ab work with some upper body overhead stuff as I forwarded through to the mat. I liked the tri sets workout. It really didn't have much of a break throughout. I am tired! I got to watching The Intern with Robert Deniro staying up with my husband. It was near 2 this morning when I crawled into bed and then didn't sleep well. I should have went to bed earlier. I have seen the movie before. I just really liked it.
Tri-sets legs 3 rnds done 3 times each (these are not all in the correct order on each round. Cathe forgets some deadlifts on one round and has to compensate. Cathe uses 15's and 12's for dumbbells and starts with 1 set of weight plates on the bar then increases to two. She also has times where she starts lighter and increases weight.
rnd 1 3 risers and step
Barbell plie squat 45#
split squat on step right 15's then left
side step up !5#
rnd 2 2 risers on step
reverse lunge using step 15's
wide stance deadlift 45# barbell
cross back lunge off step 15#
rnd 3 3 risers on step
step up 15's
stiff leg dead lift barbell 45#
squat 20's

Judy, I really do like Urban Rebounding Extreme. I got those when I got my rebounder. I also later picked up an extra workout with Greg Cook that is a circuit type workout that uses the rebounder, weights, and a pull up bar. I burn a lot of calories with those workouts. I had a flu shot in November. I try not to get it too early because they wear off some after a few months. My husband has had the flu several times and I was lucky enough not to get it. I hope you are too. I did get the flu one year when they didn't have the right flu shot when I got it. I guess they didn't know what strain of flu or something. I have never had Tamiflu before. It seems any family members that have had it recovered fairly quickly.

Deb, it looks like we got similar calorie burns with Tri sets legs :) I have tried heat on my neck. For some reason it tends to make me feel ill. I find stretching and trying to loosen anything tight and icing is more helpful. The doctor thinks the swelling is probably pinching a nerve. It will some times hurt down into the delt from the side of the neck and sting. It is still hurting today. I have been avoiding taking anything because I know I have been using too much stuff. I need a break from it. It is very painful.

Valerie, I think the lower temperatures is supposed to help burn more calories as the body tries to work to warm itself up? All of that squatting and picking up has to be equal to a Cathe endurance workout :)

Josie, I hope that you get some news on your friend soon. I am glad her husband was able to stop and everyone else was safe. I try to find fun things to do with the grandchildren when they are here. The young ones love going to the park. We do a lot of arts and crafts things and play games too when they are here. It is drizzling here and they are saying there is chances for severe weather later. I refuse to go out in it. It is just not worth it.

Lynda, I think my neck feels a bit tight. Mostly it is just painful and I can hear it crackling inside my head when I move my neck around, if that makes since. I don't think it is so much audible for someone else to hear it. When it is feeling normal there is no crackling. I love doing kickboxing workouts. I would really like to try some of the live ones but I don't think my shoulder is ready for all of that. That does sound like an interesting mix. I really am not very appreciative of very brief strength segments tacked on. If I am going to do it, I want it to be a full workout of some sort of strength mixed in.

Hi Everyone,

This morning I did a short Spinerval. DH went back to work. I thought he should stay home another day to rest but he felt like he needed to go in.

Deb-thanks, I hope I don't get it. I'm still a little worried that I might but I'll feel better if I make it a few more days with no symptoms.

Valerie-I took a rest day Sunday but I did do 2 workouts on Saturday. Yes, I hope the flu shot worked. I started getting them regularly when I was working at the health food store and so many sick people were coming in. They were trying to find natural remedies instead of going to the doctor or urgent care so they would come into the store coughing, and obviously sick. I got a pretty bad bug the first year I worked there so I started getting the flu shot the next year.

Josie-I hope you hear good news about your friend.

Lynda-Live Gloved and Ready sounds like one I might like. I'll have to try it. DH is still coughing but he hasn't had a fever since late Friday night or Saturday morning. He did recover quickly.

Diane Sue-That makes sense to not get the flu shot too early. I think I remember the year that they didn't get the right strains in the flu shot.
You did a great leg workout! I might have to copy that one. I hope your neck feels better soon.

Hi to Josie!

Judy

Good morning,

Yesterday I did Live Crush it Low Impact. This is a good combination of the Ice Low Impact Sweat workouts. I watched Downton;s last episode on PBS....I won't mention anything in case some have not watched. I liked it a lot, a little predictable, but still good.

Valerie, is Breaking Bad still on regular TV? I will have to try The Fall again. Good thing is that it is British, and they have very short seasons.

Josie, I hope your friend is getting better...you mentioned you are texting to her, is she able to respond? I agree with you...people do stupid things on vacation...it's like sometimes they turn into different people.

Lynda, I don't remember how Doc Marten ended....isn't that weird? I do remember that I liked it. I didn;t know that the guy in The Fall was in Fifty Shades...he is pretty creepy. Did you try to read the books? I got the book, read about 20 pages and turned it back into the library. Ugh...I thought it was horrible. I would never go see that movie. I haven't tried any of the Live kickbox workouts. Maybe tomorrow for my cardio day. I don't think I put enough effort or something when I do kickbox workouts, they never give me the calorie burn that I think I should be getting.

Diane Sue, I hope your neck feels better today. Great workouts! I thought I would have some major DOMS from Triset Legs but didn't get any at all. Did you like the barre work in Long & Strong Legs? That was hard for me, since I don't do barre regularly.

Judy, glad Chris is better, he must be feeling ok to go to work. Maybe you should take some of that zinc stuff?...even without having symptoms, just to ward off any.

Take care,

Hi everyone--

This morning I did CLB with Icy core 2 (61:43).

Deb, no, never wanted to read the books. Just hearing about the bondage in them turned me immediately off. The finale of Doc Marten was the kidnapping by that crazy woman who wants him to cure her husband. Of course, he does come up with a cure, but only after the husband has gone off to die. Louisa is the one who figures out that he is being held captive--his shoes. It's so funny though. Louisa and Marten are sitting on a hill overlooking the town, deciding that they do love one another and want to stay with one another and give up marriage counseling, which has not done them a bit of good.

Judy, it was last year that the flu shot was pretty ineffective. That must have been awful with sick people coming in who should have been seeing a doctor. I like the Live boxing workouts. She does these tabatas with fast feet and flurries that really get my heartbeat up.

Diane Sue--just looking at the weights you used in that Trisets workout convinces me that I am definitely an intermediate on legs. I love CLB for that reason.

Hi to Lori, Josie, and Valerie!
