Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--
This morning I did xtend barre (55 min.), another new one. I would classify this as an intermediate barre workout, while Booty Barre is advanced. Not enough upper body work and I think it's actually shorter than 55 min. because she does an intro and a tutorial that I skipped. Nice variety of moves, though, and a keeper.
Had a great time in Boston. Since ds lives in Charlestown, we spent our first night there in a wonderful YMCA-hotel in the Charlestown shipyard. Our room had its own kitchen and was tax-free--so it was 115 dollars and really nice, clean, and quiet. We were right there, so we did the USS Constitution tour the following morning ("Old Ironsides"). What a beautiful boat, and we learned a lot about history. Our son had to work in the morning. We went out to Aquitaine the night before, and I had sole meuniere and a warm endive, apple, and walnut salad. My usual Manhattan. Excellent food and I only ate half, and gave the other half to ds to take home. The rest of Saturday we walked the "freedom road" through Boston. The best places were definitely the Bunker Hill museum and the Old North Church ("one if by land, two if by sea"). We must have walked 5 miles, although ds met up with us and we did have a break in the North End for absolutely terrific pizza. Had one large piece and diet coke. Spent Saturday night with sil, bil, and niece and nephew. She made an absolutely terrific meal, including Ina's lemon mousse for dessert. Unfortunately, we woke up the following morning to find that bil had such severe stomach pains that sil took him to the emergency room. We didn't know what it was until after we drove home, but I guessed correctly--gall bladder, and he had it removed laparoscopically and was coming home on Monday morning. Couldn't pick up Max until this morning, but he was ECSTATIC! OH JOY, OH HAPPINESS, WIGGLE, WIGGLE ETC. Overall, a great weekend, and a very nice break for me.
Gee, Deb, I hope you had an intermission on that play. Sounds like a yawner. Love your smilies.
Valerie, I totally agree on the Social Network. I couldn't figure out why it was so highly praised. I thought the writing by Sorkin was feeding stereotypes about Harvard preppies and nerds, and that poor Zuckerberg probably was nothing like the portrayal. I did like the music, though, and thought 9-inch nails Trent Ray??? deserved his Oscar.
Joan, go ahead and complain all you want.
So, two questions: What has been your best clothing purchase this past year? What has been your best beauty purchase? Mine: a faux fur leopard 3/4 coat that I get endless compliments on, that is really warm, and very light weight. Love it! Viviscal, which I have been taking for 6 weeks now. My hair suddenly has more body, has grown thicker, and just plain looks shinier.
I will now start grading papers.
