we went off to xc ski this morning. what a mess. trees down all over, roads a mess. there have been a couple windstorms and heavy rain the last 2 weeks and it will be a while before this gets cleaned up. DH managed to smack our side mirror on an overhanging branch and then get a flat tire. so not a great day.
hope everyone else is doing better than this!.

Hi,

Yesterday I did Jessica Smith's Full Body Stretching, 30 minutes, 90 calories. Test results from the Stress/Echo were much better. The only thing it seems was different from the one I had 6 years ago, was that my mitro valve prolapse went from "mild" to "moderate" BP was still very high. I guess the subject of my DR appointment Tuesday is going to be the BP and what is going on with that.

Valerie, thanks for starting the thread for the week. Nice job on the elliptical. 3800 steps on that is great! What brand of mattress did you get? Yes, I agree, those results can scare you if you are not familiar with the phrases they use and what they really mean.. Sorry about the side mirror and tire!

Carolyn, thanks for the info. I will try the JS Gentle Yoga. I looked at her YouTube channel to check out what she has. I had Headspace on my phone, but must have deleted in.

Diane Sue, I also forgot that the FitBit has a 2 minute relaxing section. Will try that as well. Also look for that sleep therapy one you mentioned. I hear you on the "worse case scenario" thinking.

Judy, your Peloton bike has a yoga workout? Is it something you get streaming? Home Depot must realize how much their employees are exhausted from working there and want you rested up for the next shift! LOL

Hi to Lori,

Take care,

Today is a rest day for me. Valerie, thanks for starting the thread this week. I’m sorry that your outing was disappointing.

Deb, that’s good news on your Stress/Echo test. I’m sure that you and your doctor will figure out the blood pressure problem.

Judy, it sounds like Home Depot decided to invest in employee wellness with the sleep app.

Hello to Diane Sue.

Did rev'd up rumble to burn off a little frustration. Tire is not fixable, so will put on the all weather ones. You can’t swap out one tire on a Subaru with a new one. we will need a whole new set next winter. The AWD gets messed you if you mix old and new tires

deb if you take any bp meds... did you renew anything recently? Generics have caused problems where quality has not been good. if any prescriptions changed recently, check those first.

Today was a rest day. Just relaxing most of the day.

Valerie, I am sorry that your day did not go well. That is too bad you have to replace all of the tires.

Deb, glad to hear the echo/ stress tests were better. Hopefully your physician can come up with some answers that help.

Carolyn, hope you enjoyed your rest day today.

This morning I did a premix from Cardio Slam. That was 34 minutes and 231 calories burned. My average heart rate was 130 and maximum heart rate was 155. I didn’t really feel like doing anything today, but I’m glad that I did.

Judy, thanks for the link to the restorative yoga clip. I have a couple of restorative yoga practices that I do occasionally.

It was fairly clear and sunny today, so we did a low elevation hike. not sure we can ski here any more this season. people get wood cutting permits and go and clean up l the downed trees on logging roads, but until they are cleared we wont be able to get anywhere. about 2 hours. fair amount of up and down over a couple of miles in 2 locations.
I usually feel better if I do "something". I'm pleased with Yogamax. its not a lot of hard poses ( levitation holds are there briefly, never will get those) but I got some sore spots, so it was a decent workout and different from what I've been doing. I got tired of seeing DH act like it wasn't there. he is not very flexible. I miss the classes I went to but that is long gone.

Judy, thanks for the link. I like the way the yoga blocks are used for supported fish pose. That is one move I am uncomfortable with, with my neck issues and tilting my head way back. As it is when instructors do the rotating the head side center front back and forth, my neck grates and it causes pain. I have to gently tilt side to side. Even with stretches and moving my head at certain angles there is cracking and pain that will generally make me jump and wince.

Carolyn, I am always glad when I managed to get something in, even when I did not want to. I have been feeling more of the I don't want to workout a lot lately, but I need it to keep my mobility and joint strength. I chose something less intense cardio wise today.

Good morning,

Today I did Lite Metabolic Blast, 41 minutes, 251 calories. My BP has gone back to "normal" :). I guess it was all the stress of the stress tests, along with stuff with John's fall, his virus etc that added to it. My DR office called last night and said that since the ECHO was normal, they wanted to cancel the appt. She said to keep monitoring the BP, and if it spikes again, call and they will get me in.

Valerie, no, no BP meds, or any other prescription ones. I heard that about Subaru tires as well... the cynical side of me thinks its a ploy to get you to spend more money. I really liked our Subaru dealer, ( bought 5 of them from there), but now not so much. They seem to be on a big "up sell" campaign. I called to make an appointment to have John's car inspected, and spent 10 minutes telling her we did not want anything else.

Judy, thanks for the link!

Diane Sue, have fun at Game Day today!

Hi to Carolyn, & Lori,

Take care,

Deb Im afraid all car dealers are like that, the vigorous "upsell". there were several recalls going on. drivers side airbag, and engine (unspecified) valve. we need to do the airbag but not the other.
I've known about Subaru tires from the beginning, you can't mix different kinds/ages of tires, like a new tire with 3 older, worn tires. I'm pretty sure it voids a lot of warranty coverage if you mix tires. many other cars come with AWD now, I don't know if the same rules apply to all of them.
these tires are special winter tires, softer rubber , we only use in winter. they wear faster than "all weather" tires and expected life is around 20,000 miles. called "blizzacs' or something like that. we also have chains but they are hard to put on a Subaru and usually not needed. when the SP says "chains required" you better get them on.
DH blames the tire, but we drove these tires on some terrible awful conditions and DH always drives too fast . He also smacked the side view mirror but fortunately I knew what the overhanging branch ( one of hundreds) looked like, and was able to stop where we hit it and get the knocked off part that snapped off... it went back on fine. I get pissed I get no credit for things like that. replacing a side mirror would have cost plenty, and he was careless to hit the branch to begin with. I'm always reminded of those cartoon scenarios about "why women live longer than men".
we are a little over 20,000 miles on these tires and planned to replace next winter anyway. this is not a good time of year to find snow tires so we will put the 'all weather" ones back on and wait until next season. we are on Subaru # 4. I get stuck with the appointment at Costco to get tires switched out today, should take an hour or so, while I do shopping. so I have to drive it with the silly little bicycle tire on

great that it was only stress! I also get over wrought before some kinds of appts. normally my BP is fine but mix in a few things to worry about, and it goes up and then drops immediately after.
Pharmacists are the latest group of health care people being over worked and over stressed, plus if you look most of your medicine is made in some other country. it is worth looking closely at your meds to make sure you got the right thing, and check country of origin so you notice if something doesn't seem right. I used to assume things were done right until I got a prescription filled wrong. I noticed it was not what it was supposed to be ...similar names but not the same drugs... and went back to the rx before even going home. DH has had some generic BP meds same drug made any different companies, where one did not work like the other. its worth paying attention.

This morning I did JS WS3 One Mile of Motivation for 15 minutes and 108 calories burned. My average heart rate was 129 and maximum heart rate was 143. I then did WS3 Upper Body Strength. That was 34 minutes and 113 calories burned. Average heart rate was 106 and maximum heart rate was 129.

Deb, that’s wonderful news about your BP. It’s amazing the toll that stress can take on the body. Great job with LiTE Metabolic Blast.

Hello to Valerie, Judy, and Diane Sue.

Today is a rest day. I went to the game day/valentines celebration this morning. I saw a few snow flakes coming down and was worried. It is above freezing now though. I was worried, since this gathering was not close. My Google maps took me a different direction the last few times. Maybe there was road work or something. I rerouted differently on the way back though to avoid a left turn out of the neighborhood into heavy traffic. I came home from a chocolate candy and unhealthy food brunch, other than the orange slices that I ate. I had a bowl of beets for lunch. Just couldn't handle any more unhealthy stuff.

Deb, I am glad to hear that your blood pressure is back to normal. Stress is bound to do that and you had a lot to worry about. I wish my doctors would call and say I don't need to come in. I think most of the time they would have me come in just so they could get money for an office visit. I got some of my insurance papers and I thought "wow" on the cost of me just talking to the pulmonologist about my CT scan results that were ordered by the heart doctor. The pulmonologist did nothing but tell me it was not likely something to worry about on the nodule and come back in 6 months. They could save insurance some money and me time by just calling and saying nothing to worry about come and get it done again in 6 months to recheck. Lots wasted if you ask me. Besides the fact that they sometimes leave you sitting worrying about what is really nothing till you can get in to talk to them.

Valerie, I think a lot of vehicles are like that with the tires. I remember getting a nail in my tire in the wrong spot when I had my escape and I had to buy all new tires because they would not sell me just one. They all needed to be the same and the same wear. I didn't have a problem though when we recently had to get a new tire form my Spark. The only problem we have with it is when we take it to our auto shop or even one of those oil change places, they do not have the filters and stuff for my car, they have to send someone to Ford to get it. This time we ordered the parts from Amazon so they don't have to do that. In fact they are sitting on the table waiting for us to get it to the shop.

Carolyn, nice work on the upper body and walk workouts this morning.

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did Cardio Leg Blast and the heavy bag tabata set from Hard Strikes. Total time was 70 minutes. This morning I did a 15 minute Peloton Ride and Ramped Up Upper Body.

Deb-That is great news about your BP! Great that the ECHO was normal too.

Hi to Valerie, Diane Sue & Carolyn!

Judy

I always thought it was AWD technology that caused the need for tires to be matched. Since AWD vehicles performs much better in slippery conditions I will buy what is needed. Subaru’s are fabulous when roads are slick. Hate to fork over the $$$ but beats crashing

did 15 on elliptical and core 1 plus pushups Busy day.
ETA will just add on here, going to do a mt bike ride. expect it will be a mud fest in the tree farm since roads are gravel plus lots of water but we haven't ridden in > a month. it has been really really wet and skiing is done for us until roads get cleared. we can do some clearing, but if you spend half the day cutting and clearing downed trees, there is no energy left to ski. more snow will cover some of the mess.

diane sue we do much the same thing. it would costa a lot and waste half a day to get car dealer service for small things. we do our own minor repairs. just replaced headlights, and DH does oil changes on my car. its old and simple. the big services... we take it to the dealer. I had tires swapped out yesterday on our other car, and bought a new battery for my car that we put in ourselves.

so now my sister has it stuck in her mind that she wants to visit her daughter when she has a baby. Never mind daughter isn't pregnant yet. I have no idea how she thinks she will do this. she cant use a computer or cell phone and cant drive, and has two pets who will need to be at a kennel she has no way to get to. no travel agencies ( remember those) anywhere close by. I swear she has no idea what she is doing.

Today I did Cardio Party + Extended Stretch 1. Total time was 48 minutes with 292 calories burned. My average heart rate was 125 and maximum heart rate was 149

Diane Sue, I’m glad that you enjoyed the Ladies Game Day. I know what you mean about eating sweets and unhealthy foods. I ate some cookies for dessert Sunday and I think that’s why I felt so sluggish on Monday. Clean eating makes such a difference.

Judy, great job with Cardio Leg Blast, Peloton ride, and Ramped Up Upper Body.

Valerie, I hope your ride works out today.

Hello to Deb. Have a wonderful day everyone.

Good afternoon,

No workout today. I have been using our home cuff to monitor my BP. It has been consistently low ( eg 113/65). I will continue for a few more days.

Valerie, yep, there were/are several recalls. I had one done not too long ago. They told me John has 3 that he has not done. I told her that he has called about them, and was told the parts were on back-order. She checked and found that was correct. Sheesh....unbelievable. A very good article from The People's Pharmacy in our paper yesterday about pharmacists, and how different it is now than what it used to be. It mentioned all the things you also noted. As for checking prescriptions, more than once when he got home and counted the number of pills in the bottle, John found shortages. I can see if these were some kind of narcotic or something, but they were either BP or cholesterol meds, the only things he is on. Your sister has not travelled in a long time I am guessing? You can't do anything by plane that does not involve using a computer. Has she even thought about what she would do with her pets?

Carolyn, good job on the JS workouts!

Diane Sue, at least its good that the pulmonologist said that the nodule was nothing to worry about, but I agree, they could have done that over the phone.

Good job on Cardio Leg Blast and that Tabata from Hard Strikes! You have put aside the Peloton for a bit? LOL..

Hi to Lori,

Take care,

we went mt biking this morning, 1 hr 40 min of hard work. it is lovely out today but everything is muddy and sloppy so we and the bikes are getting baths. had to go slower due to the spray and squishy mud in places.

Deb I read that article in peoples pharmacy. DH has had problems with his bp meds, when identical prescriptions from different companies vary. one works, the other doesn't. plus he had some of the meds that were supposed to have traces of carcinogens. I just read another piece in the NYT about the time/ quota pressures pharmacists are under these days, especially those who work for big chains like CVS and Walgreens. I will try to put in a link, but I'm not sure if non subscribers can access. sometimes it works, other times it
wont. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/31/health/pharmacists-medication-errors.html?searchResultPosition=1
hope this article is accessible.
My sister hasn't traveled since about 1975. she has no CLUE how different things are. Dallas fort worth is a huge airport, and no idea if she can get a nonstop of she might have to change planes in Chicago.
I have no idea how anyone can do this without computer access and a phone, neither of which she has. ( (still walled herself off of technological changes) I seriously doubt she could get a boarding pass off airport kiosk. she wanted to buy a small carry on. I agreed to order it thinking everyone should have a small suitcase. I asked her if she was able to lift a carry-on into an overhead bin. she said no, but she would get "some man" to do it for her. has no picture ID or drivers license. the county she lives in does not allow kennel businesses so she would have to find someone to drive her and her pets out of the county to a facility and then pick them up at the other end. stress is a trigger for her seizures. this is such a monumentally bad idea I don't know where to begin. Really, what could possibly go wrong here??

Today I did Raw Ripped and Ride January 2020, this time I used the spin bike since last time I followed Kelly on the step. The weights they use are a bit confusing as at the start Kelly says 5 and 7's mayb she says 5 or 7. I don't know. They were using 10 for their heavy. I used 5's and 8's. This was 35 minutes, heart rate 114/154, 128 calories, 1,446 steps. I thn did 5 Day Strength day 2 chest and triceps, 34 minutes, 90/135 heart rate, 57 calories, 320 steps (map my fitness said 177 calories using upper strength setting) I finished with Jessica Smith Gentle Yoga neck and shoulders, 19 minutes, 89/121 heart ate 24 calories, 44 steps.
Total time was 88 minutes, 209 calories, 1,810 steps. I am about ready to toss this Versa 2 across the room. Feeling frustrated with the amount of effort I am putting in and the readings I am getting.

Judy, nice work on Cardio Leg Blast. I bet it was a nice change :) I have not done it in awhile.

Valerie, we do a lot of things ourselves on our vehicles. We do not go into the car dealership unless it is a recall or warranty work. Even with that, our auto shop we go to will take care of the warranty paper work. Our Taurus has to have something else done when we get the oil changed at our auto shop to keep the warranty up to date. I don't remember what it is though. Fortunately the Taurus is new enough there is not much to do as far as fix it things. We really need to get one of those donut tires or a spare for my Spark. It did not come with anything. My husband and son have done a lot of fix it things on the Harley, but my husband insists on taking it in and having it serviced because he says they check belts, loose bolts and everything. So I would say that is worth having it done. I am sure that you sister has quite a different image of what flying would be like than it is. I hate airports. I had my youngest daughter mention that her med was a different looking pill when she picked up her prescription. Another time her medicine affected her different. Her doctor just said to watch for that because sometimes they change them. I would think pharmacies would be more conscientious of those things.

Carolyn, it definitely makes a difference when we eat clean and have something that is not so clean.

Deb, it is good you are able to check your blood pressure at home and it is normal again.

I am glad that I found a small pharmacy to use. They are nice, never crowded and busy and helpful. My middle daughter told me the only problem is they do not have the long hours open that big chain pharmacies do. I guess her and her husband went to pick up some med for his parents when they were sick and the pharmacy was closed. Only thing was, they waited for them to come in. My daughter said they were about to leave and the guy came out and asked if they were there for so and so's med and he was waiting for them, so that was nice. I doubt a big chain pharmacy would do that.
