Morning,

Just wanted to get us started. It's minus 9 here right now....I was on the couch all day yesterday, and will probably do the same today....

Will check back later....

Take care,

Happy Valentine's Day Ladies!!!!! Brrrrrrrr it is soooooo cold here today! I have errands to do and will check back later after I workout. Buying a dishwasher today!

Lori happy DW shopping. Will you do the install? we've done it ourselves but the last one we let the store do, mostly because they remove and dispose of the old one.

Busy day today. most of the furniture is moved, some will get done last minute... tomorrow morning. I hope I like the new color.

Happy Valentine's Day! Good luck with your dishwasher Lori. Hope you feel better soon Deb. Hope your carpet install goes well Valerie. I'll check back in later tonight after I workout.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did CLB with MM shoulders (63:38).

Happy Valentine's Day! Really brutally cold here today and yesterday--19 below this morning and up to 0 now. At least it's not blowing like it was yesterday.

When I came home on Friday DH had (surprise!) installed 3 Apple TVs on our TVs, so today I think I signed up for Cathe Live (for some reason I didn't get an email receipt). I am hoping to try it out tomorrow. She does have a tutorial on Apple TV which is very helpful. I am really amazed at how all of my Apple devices talk to each other. I just airplay something from my iPad or iPhone and then tell the Apple Tv which Tv to put it on. Works great with the Amazon video or Netflix app on my iPad. I can even blow up pictures on to the TV from my iPhone. I have been getting a ton of puppy pics from my older son. I moved around a podcast yesterday from one room to another while I was cleaning. Better than chocolates or lingerie for a Valentine.

Lori, good luck on the dishwasher shopping! Not sure I would want to be out and about much today. At least you tried on that repair so you can't feel guilty. No--don't let Chester go out for too long. I put a timer on with Max and DH makes him sit in his favorite truck rather than following him around outside. The pigs were all nestled snug in their beds of hay inside little dome shelters this morning when DH went to bring them water and the calves were huddled in big heap in the barn chewing on leftover hay.

Valerie, what fun to get new carpet! It just seems to transform everything when you replace carpet.

Diane Sue, an earthquake?? How unusual is that in Oklahoma? I have heard that fracking has been blamed in some instances for shaking things up, but I don't know how reliable that science is.

Judy, beautiful kitty Valentine!

Out to dinner tonight!

Good afternoon ladies!

This morning I did Live Athletic Training and really liked it. I like the DVD so knew the Live would be great. It really is only the first portion that is like the DVD though but the rest was a great workout using weights, band and fire walkers.

Well, never went to shop for the DW. Had so many errands that by the time I finished I was not in the mood and wanted to come home to my warm house.

Lynda! So funny because I just bought an Apple TV today while I was at Best Buy! I had to buy a few ipads for my company a month or so ago and I always sign into my best buy account so I get the reward points. Well I had $75 in rewards so Apple TV it was! I would never have bought one but did not feel guilty using the rewards. I have not set it up and most likely will next weekend. I am looking forward to the communication with all our apple devices. Glad you signed up to Cathe Live. There are a ton of workouts and I know you will love them! :). Enjoy your dinner tonight!

Diane Sue...i am the same way when I am using a cardio machine. I need to be watching something. Listening to music just does not do it. Need to be watching something! Very strange response from Polar. That is exactly what I do according to their instructions. Earthquake???? Pretty scary!

Valerie...good luck with the carpet installation tomorrow. I am sure once it is all in and furniture in place you will love it! I will have them deliver and install so they can take away the old. The cheap cost to do so is well worth it to me!

Deb...hope you are feeling better this afternoon. Oh it is soooooo cold here!

Judy...omg your card is adorable!!! Beautiful kitties!

Hi to Josie!

Good morning,

It's a balmy 4 degrees here right now. I sure hope it warms up this week.

Lynda, great that you signed up for Cathe Live! You will have to let us know how you will like it. Not sure if Lori gave you the spreadsheet that she has with all the workouts listed, it looks really helpful.

Lori, have you decided on the brand of DW?

Hi to Judy, Valerie, Josie & Diane Sue,

Nothing much here, just resting, keeping warm, and hoping that class is cancelled tonight.

Take care,

Lori take a look at Bosch to see their filtration system. I hope it's still similar to a few years ago. I won't nag you if you buy a different brand!
I totally agree, music (alone) does not work for me. If I can watch a screen with "something" that's enough, even without music. I like music but I absolutely hate anything right in my ears.... like headphones of any sort. we were in Bed Bath and Beyond the other day and the "background " music was so loud and screechy I almost left without buying something.
speaking of buying things... a new tactic to get our phone upgraded.... asking for it to happen for my birthday in march. getting a definite day as a goal will help get us off our butts. I think we're over paying and could do better.
Deb, so sorry you are freezing!. It was so warm here last night I had to open windows. everything is scrunched and piled into rooms that aren't getting carpet . what a short term mess.
Yesterday was a complete day off. I was sick with GI issues and was pretty unhappy. I took too many fiber supplements and went into overload with a lot of cramping. better by late in the day and OK today. will try to check in later with carpet progress.

Hi Ladies,

Hope that everyone had a great Valentine's day. My ride turned out to be nice and cool, the day started with fog along the coast but it cleared up at the half way point. We did 38 miles. Today is a rest day and now I'm waiting for our handyman that will be remodeling our bathroom.

Deb, hope that you are feeling better. Here is a breakdown of the milage that we do everyday on the AIDS lifecycle ride:

Day 1 82 miles from San Francisco (Daly City)-Santa Cruz
Day 2 109.5 from Santa Cruz-King City
Day 3 65.3 from King City-Paso Robles
Day 4 91.4 from Paso Robles-Santa Maria
Day 5 43 from Santa Maria-Lompoc
Day 6 88.1 from Lompoc-Ventura
Day 7 62 from Ventura to Los Angeles
If you go to Aidslifecycle.org you can see a description of the rout day by day. Click on the tab Life on the Event and then click on About the Rout.

Lori, we have a Kennmore and we have had it for 13 years. We are very happy with it.

Valerie, I hope that you are feeling better. What supplements are you taking? I hope that you don't mind me asking.

Garance, I like your Valentine's Day gift. Your DH is so thoughtful. I got a card :). We usually don't exchange gifts, but we did go out to dinner with our DD on Friday to celebrate.

Hi to Judy and Dana!

Josie

I don't mind at all Josie. My GI tract doesn't work without "assistance". I use psyllium fiber. I use Kirkland brand "Metamucil", either fiber capsules or loose powder dissolved in water. the sugar free powder is orange flavor and pretty awful. I eat an extremely high fiber diet but that's not enough.
I'd suggest the capsules. any drug store will carry them but probably not as inexpensive as Costco. trial and error to see how many to take with generous amount of water. I take 8 in the morning. Benefiber didn't work for me.

Hi Everyone--

This morning I did Cathe Live low impact hiit circuit with weights (53:00). Loved it!

Deb, it's still pretty cold here--15 above and snowing--but we will gradually warm up tomorrow with a lot of ugly mixed precipitation. You should definitely try the Zicam rapid melts. Even if you get the cold, they claim to shorten it. I think they are super-effective and so much better than sucking on lozenges all day. I don't have that spread sheet and it's really hard to choose looking at all of them. It's so easy though with the Apple TV, airplay, and mirroring.

Lori, will you send me that spread sheet? I think I will still have to preview them to figure out impact and equipment, but it would help. Did you find a dishwasher? We have a Bosch too.

Valerie, I have been streaming from Netflix Making a Murderer. It's really very good and also infuriating about our justice system.

Josie, you won't be cycling for quite awhile yet?

Dinner was just okay for me. The crab claws were overcooked and dry. I did enjoy my oysters though.

Hi to Judy and Diane Sue!

Hi Everyone,

Last night I did Core Max & Icy Core 1. This morning I did a 30 minute Spinerval and then Chiseled Upper Body.

Deb-I hope you feel better today. I'm sorry it's so cold. You are probably getting what we had over the weekend. I hope your class gets cancelled.

Valerie-I don't know whats up with Bed, Bath & Beyond but I went in there last week and the music was so loud and irritating I wanted to say something to the manager but I didn't. I never noticed it there before, but there are a few mall stores that have the music a little too loud.

Josie-That is some impressive mileage! I would love to do a ride event like that someday.

Lynda-That's great that you have Apple TV. I need to look at that too. It was so cold yesterday and DH wasn't feeling good. We decided to go out for our Valentine's dinner one evening this week. Probably Wednesday or Thursday.

Lori- I just ordered SB's newest dvd, BarreAmped Fire Extreme Sculpt, from Amazon. Since my streaming membership ends in March I thought this would be a good time to get it.

Hi to Diane Sue!

Judy

Today was Hammer Plyometrics 26 minutes, 152 calories followed by 15 minute leg Hammer, 18 minutes, 128 calories. I added on Ripped with Hiit Abs #1, 10 minutes, 47 calories. workout time was 54 minutes and calories burned 327. I never feel I get a good enough workout with Hammer Plyometrics. I do the tuck jumps on the rebounder. I use my step where they use the bench for the things like butt kickers, Sagi has another name for it. I don't do the jump push ups like they do. So hard on the arthritis in my hands. I usually do it on my knees with my hands on the rebounder and do some of it as just push ups. He has you in a plank push up then hand taps on the bench. Anyway, I just do not get the HR up that much. It was only scheduled in the rotation 3 times with the option of the bonus Masters Hammer and Chisel which is 16 minutes and leg hammer.

We do not usually do anything special on Valentines day. We went out to dinner on Saturday and spent yesterday evening watching movies on television. Funny, I went to church yesterday and told my husband I wondered why everyone was wearing red. Then he reminded me it was valentines day. Duh LOL I am not sure if I will manage a workout Thursday. We have a plumber coming to take care of our outside faucets. We decided not to try that ourselves. I was lucky to get the one turned off. I had to use channel locks on the stem to get it turned off so it didn't run. The other freezes into an big icicle. He will be here at 8 and my grandson will be here. I guess I will see how it goes. I will be done with Hammer and Chisel rotation then.

Deb, I hope that you get to feeling better. I hope that your class is cancelled so that you can stay in where it is warm.

Valerie, I would imagine you are busy with the carpeting being installed today. It will be so nice when it is finished. As for music, I don't like headphones and ear buds. I bought a small Bluetooth speaker that I carry around where I want to listen. I use it when I am listening to stuff when working out.

Judy, thanks for posting the card. It is so cute.

Lynda, that is great that you got the Apple TV's . I would like to try Cathe Live someday myself. This was one of the biggest earthquakes we have had. In the 36 years that we have lived here in Oklahoma it is only recently that we have had all of these earthquakes. My daughter went and got earthquake insurance because the back lower level of their home is built into the ground. It did feel weird and odd with my weights rattling . The main place that they seem to be the biggest is about an hour and a half away from us. They keep talking about how they are drilling here. Oh, and yes, it is Oklahoma. So weird. I thought when we left California at least we wouldn't have the earthquakes. It is not good here because many homes are brick. Usually our main concern are tornadoes. I went upstairs the other day and my case of workout dvds had fell to the floor along with things hanging off the edge of some of my shelves.

Lori, that sounds like a good compilation of Athletic training. I did everything they said and today made sure it was wet and it worked till I got to the abs and started giving erratic readings like before. Up to 222 and 0 amd 164, all over the place. I just used my previous averages because I knew I did not burn the calories it said. I took all of the extra devices out of the room before I even sent it in to see if there was interference. I am pretty sure I will not go for a Polar again. Not with a drawer full of annoyances.

Josie, you have put in a lot of mileage and toured a lot of area. Nice rides. I bet you are pretty used to earthquakes out there. When we lived in Southern California it was nothing that unusual.

Hi ladies! I only have a minute tonight but wanted to let you know Lynda I'll update the Live Spread Sheet and will send it over to you tomorrow. I'll send to Deb and Judy too. If anyone else wants it just let me know. So glad you joined Live! You are going to feel like a kid in a candy shop! Going out to dinner with a GF. Not sure if I will get back on tonight. If not have a great night all!!!!!!!

Good morning,

Snowing now, but the temperature had gone up to 28 so things are back to normal. No workout yesterday, still not up to it.

Valerie, I hope you are feeling better today and the carpet install went well. I don't like only music on the treadmill, but really love Cardio Coach or iTread workouts. They make the workout feel like an actual workout, not just repetitive movement. Kind of like how Cathe spin workouts are, but only audio.

Josie, that is an awesome 7 days of riding!

Lynda, will pick up those Zicam rapid melts next time I am at the drugstore. I think Lori's spreadsheet has equipment needed and a good description of the workout.

Judy, if we are mentioning stores with music, our Kohl's is awful! It's some canned stuff that is horrible and also too loud. I would complain if I worked there. I guess the employees probably stop hearing it at some point.

Diane Sue, nice workout! Those earthquakes sound scary.

Lori, hope you had a nice dinner.

Making the dog's food today, and a few other things that were let go around here while I was spending so much time on the couch!

Take care,

We are not back to normal yet. they did about 3/4 of it yesterday. so far it is good. the color is nice and neutral, not too dark or light. with an overall small geometric pattern so not a plush. I think this will be OK with most of the left over things from the 'pink" days like window coverings. the vertical blinds in the master will need replacing (pink) but they are 25 years old and semi broken already so not a big deal.

I'm not feeling like such a crank about music volume in stores now. Background music is fine but it should be in the background, not giving people headaches. Home Depot had xmas music blaring. we were trying to figure out closet hardware, a huge PITA. what was OK at the checkout area was WAY loud back in the warehouse. suddenly I couldn't stand it. we went to Lowes and bought what we needed. I complained before we left.
I will look for the Zicam too. l think it helps if it's started at the first symptoms.

More reinforcement for replacing the phone... our neighbors saw the big truck in our driveway and called us to make sure all was "OK". it was, but neither of us could get the phone to answer the call, even though we touching the screen. after 7 rings ignoring us it went to voicemail. It would be so much easier to just answer but phone ignores all efforts sometimes. DH always gives me grief when I say it wouldn't let me answer , but this time it happened to him. like the touch screen doesn't feel you touching it.

diane sue, I've also read the earthquakes are likely due to the fracking process. we are in a serious earthquake zone here in WA. insurance is hard to get, expensive, and has all kinds of exceptions so not cost effective.
Judy adorable kitty pics. a lovely card.

Josie what a challenging route. Is there a large enough shoulder to ride without worrying? what does the group do to reduce traffic risks? I like to think my legs could handle it but my wrists/ butt would be worn out after the first day. I don't think I am going to get past 30-40 miles in a day.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did Cathe Live Cardio Boxing with stability ball abs (48:00). Really great workout, though I couldn't do the spikes at the end and just continued with drawing my knees in. I think this one dates back to 2014. Amanda was in it too. Lori's right--I feel like a kid in a candy store, or maybe for me, a designer clothing store. I like that Cathe stops occasionally for water breaks and she has such a good relationship with her exercisers--so much more natural and warm than her super-professional dvds.

So yesterday when I left for my office it was 15 degrees and snowing. Today it was 51 degrees and sprinkling a little bit. Just a LOT of wind.

Valerie, I do remember that article about your area and the potential for a massive earthquake followed by a tsunami. You should definitely get an iPhone 6. All of stuff works together now--iPhone, iPad, Macbook Pro, Apple TV. I can stream anywhere with any of my devices. I'm really hooked on Netflix and Making a Murderer. Almost done because I tend to watch 2 episodes at a time--cannot stop myself.

Deb, are you watching the Westminster dog show? I wonder what breed will win this year.

Diane Sue, I always thought of Oklahoma as in 'Tornado Alley" and not a place for earthquakes too. I think you would love Cathe Live. I may not be buying any more dvds if this works for me and that would be a blessing not to have so many dvds to store. We shall see.

Judy, do you have Cathe Live too? I noticed that she has some spinning workouts and don't recall you or Lori mentioning them. Hope your DH feels better and you can have your Valentine's Day dinner soon.

Lori, thanks for being an enabler!

Hi to Josie!

Hi ladies! Great dinner last night. Here is the updated Live list. I'll check in later this evening.

Today I did not do the Hammer and Chisel workouts on the rotation. My neck and shoulder were hurting a lot all night and this morning. I went back over the workouts and I think I overdid Max Hammer Strength Friday because it was cardio on Saturday and Sunday was a rest day. I think the plyo push ups and pull ups made matters worse yesterday. So, today was The bonus step from Kelly Coffey's Strength and Stamina, 22 minutes followed by Intensity low impact Hiit and stretch segments, 20 minutes. I finished off with P90X3 Yoga, 30 minutes. I also did a 5 minute warm up before I started. I tried to get online to use fitness blender and I kept losing the internet so gave up. Total Time was 73 minutes, and calories burned 377. Hopefully the pain is better tomorrow so I can finish my last two workouts. I may have to wait a few days.
Speaking of music, my husband and I went to a Burger Joint before hitting Home Depot in the same shopping center. We had never been there so didn't know what to expect. The music was so loud. Also the music videos were full of ugly stuff and blood. It was hard to eat. Then I am trying to talk and he couldn't hear me. I told him later I didn't want to shout loud enough for everyone else to hear what I had to say. Needless to say we will not return there to eat.

Lori, glad you had a good dinner last night. I looked at the live list. It looks interesting.

Lynda, funny that you mention tornado alley. My grandson and I made a tornado in a bottle experiment and watched a video on tornados and tornado ally Thursday. Are the live workouts old workouts from filming they did in the past?? I thought they were new for some reason. I have heard that Cathe wears glasses in some of them.

Valerie, we have vertical blinds that I would like to get rid of eventually. They are through the whole house and they are copper with padded box valances in a peach color. We have only lived here a little over a year so getting things done has to go through what is the priority first.
They are supposed to be meeting today and making some decision on what to do about the oil company and the earthquakes. I guess that is fracking. I have heard the term before since they started. My husband's sister and her family all live in Washington State.
My cell phone does the same thing but I always attribute it to being T Mobile. I called my husband from Walmart today to ask which type of holder he wanted for tax stuff. He never got the call. My phone shoes I made it but his doesn't show I called. It rang a lot. I miss texts too.

Deb, what do you use to make dog food. I know my wild diet book has a chapter on feeding your dog and making their treats and dog food. My dog just eats a grain free Wild dog food I order for her. I add in broth from my cooking and meat scraps. Some veggies.
