Hi high-flying Deb and any later posters--

This morning I did Tracy Mallett's Pilates Sculpt (60 min.). I will be snowshoeing later, so that will add some cardio. A few years ago, I think I would have been impatient with this Pilates routine because it demands so much precision and form. But I find it somehow soothing and satisfying, and I felt nice and pulled out at the end.

Deb, we went to our favorite place, Mezze's, and the chef, as usual, gave us some special things. For me, it was a small piece of fish done in a grapefruit citrusy glaze and sauce. I then had my usual bistro steak with carameliized onions and pommes frites. We shared a chocolate trifle for dessert. My usual Manhattan. DH had a pig ear (ugh!) that he claimed was delicious, and his entree was a Kielbasa dish. I had a taste of that and it was yummy. Chef does his own smoking and cures on meat.

Sounds like we are on a roller coaster here weatherwise. Up to 40 today and tomorrow, down to the 20s on Tuesday, and then way up in the 40s later in the week. Really hope to melt some of this snirt. It's getting really ugly. It will be pretty back on our land, though.

Hope everyone is having a nice Valentine's Day weekend. My younger son sent me two dozen tulips. A welcome harbinger of spring!!

Good afternoon,

I can't wait for spring. It is supposed to be in the 60's this week then down to 40's. Of course I won't get outside but seeing the sun is nice.

No exercise yet:mad:.

Did bike/treadmill saturday. sunday we did a 2 hour walk in a waterfront park near here, then yard work . DH was not feeling well, might be the start of tonsilitis so we didn't do anything too difficult. he felt better today and worked out. not sure what I'll do today. maybe the whole STS total body.
Also, my replacement disk for Lower Body Blast arrived saturday. I previewed the Intensity disk. think this one will only partly work. I don't have a full size step, mainly because I can't do fancy footwork. the premixes are many and varied, and the bootcamp style parts will be fine.

Enjoy the trip Deb.
Lynda, we probably won't do anything for valentines. DH is fighting off this virus, and I am hoping I don't get it. this next weekend we have 5 days off, and had planned on going xc skiing but are waiting on weather forecasts to decide yea or nay.

did bike/treadmill on saturday

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did KCM's Bootcamp circuit (55 min.).

Joan, it feels like spring here today in the 40s. I'm glad I went snowshoeing yesterday. It was really pretty back on our land, and Max must have run 3 miles for every one mile we walked. He was totally worn out last night. Also saw some moose tracks. DH is not happy about snowmobilers though, and he has pictures of them because he sets up his camera back there. Our neighbor's two sons. She always denies that they do this, and then he shows her the pictures.

Tonsilitis? Ooh, nasty. I remember having spells of that when I was a kid. Very sore throat. Hope you don't get it, Valerie, although I didn't know it was catchy.

Hope Tucson is warm and balmy for you, Deb.

Hi to Cathy and Josie!

DH a lot of times starts out with a sore throat, and since he has tonsils they get inflamed. then he usually goes into a standard head cold. I don't have tonsils so I usually get a lesser version, if I get it at all. sometimes when I'm careful I avoid it. I'm SO glad I had my tonsils removed, I used to get this same thing all the time. I used to get very sick. I would lose weight, the only questionable benefit.

Snowmobilers (as a group) are basically jerks about respecting private property or park/ wilderness boundaries. they seem to think that just because they CAN go somewhere, that it's OK and nobody minds. we went through a lot to send the park service pictures of miles and miles of snowmobile trespass into closed areas, but the park service does nothing. We knew exactly where we were, their excuse is they 'didn't realize" they were inside the park, etc. the park service claims they don't have high enough powered equipment to 'catch" the people. we had close up pics showing the people on the 'biles with the background clearly showing they were WAY inside where they should have been. they have to go back to their vehicles, would have been easy to ID them. so good luck with that. very hard to enforce, and once they lay down a track, they feel justified in repeating the trespass.

Did STS total body this morning and am spent. Wow, that is a good workout. I recorded all my weights which weren't very impressive. 16 reps will take the wind out of the sails quickly. Like the workout, though it does use a fair amount of '"stuff" . I'm making a serious effort to do legs, squats/lunges etc a couple times a week. not pushing weight real much, mostly 15 lbs. not getting sore but it is still hard work.

howdy all, now this is what texas winter is all about. 70's and sunny. this deep freeze stuff is for the birds. was outside riding with my adorable granddaughter all weekend. sorry if ya'll are still freezing up there.

been working out, doing mostly tracie's new ones. pre-ordered her newest ones today and ordered the old maximum cardio w/carissa foster. looks like a fun w/out. so, that is my anniversary present today. :) and, my horse, red, turns 19 today, can't believe it, got him as a 3 yr. old.
happy valentines, everyone.

Not sure I said enough about STS total body. wow.... a good workout. It took a run thru to get my weights lined up. I did the upper body premix last week so had an idea how it worked. I'm quite good at guess-timating what I can handle for 16 reps. it's all tri- sets, working one general area at a time with 16,then 12 reps. really good Ab section at the end and a nice stretch. it moves right along but still took me more than an hour. closer to 90 minutes though I did warm up for 10 on the bike before I started.

Cathy's right Deb, the little superman fly-guy is adorable.

DH snuck out yesterday morning and got me some flowers. I made one of his favorite pasta dishes for dinner. I had one very small dark chocolate truffle for dessert. they aren't very caloric but are very flavorful for a tiny piece of candy. I keep forgetting to look up the calories on the package. I will remember today. I think 50 or so.

Good morning,

I walked into my office yesterday and was blocked by 4ft tall red roses. Of course they were fake but I had seen them at a store and thought they would look good in the pool area since it is all white marble. I didn't want to pay that much but dh must have heard me say I liked them. No candy.:( Oh I mean great.;) I am only on the third day back on diet. Since my birthday and the company we had I just wasn't eating right. Not enough to really gain but wasting time if I want to lose.

Joan

awww, how sweet, joan. i kinda got my own v'day/anniversary present. pre-ordered tracie's new ones and ordered the old firm max cardio w/carissa foster. hubby is on the road anyway. actually had a nice quiet day at home alone yesterday, got alot done.

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did Jazzercise Dancin' Abs (60 min.).

Sounds like everyone had a lovefest of sorts yesterday and managed to resist or refrain from a lot of chocolate goodies.

Cathy, yesterday it went up to 50, but today it's down to 16 again, but with the promise of it soaring back up again tomorrow through Friday. Happy anniversary! I looked at those Tracie Long dvds, but since I'm still waiting for my KCMs I decided to resist.

So the Yankees' pitcher Sabathia has lost 20 lbs. by giving up his Cap'n Crunch. Apparently he ate a whole box every day. Cracked me up...and made me wonder what this stuff tastes like. Is it so good you would want to eat a whole box every day?!

Tough yoga class again. tuesday classes are hard! she works us. might try lower body blast today to see what it's like.

I checked the calories on my chocolate truffle. I have one most nights. a serving is 4, 210 calories. so one is close enough to call 50. I really look forward to one, and it keeps me from developing a major craving and eating a dozen! I sent some to my mother, and she ate the whole package in one sitting. It is GOOD chocolate.

Lynda, I haven't had that cereal in ages. It's pretty sweet. Only a man could lose 20 lbs in a month. I couldn't lose 20 if all I had was distilled water for a month!

It's been fairly warm 50-ish and wet here but supposed to cool off and maybe even a bit of snow this week. winter isn't over yet.

WHEW! worn out. did power90 cardio 3-4, and BT. not sure why it is 3-4, there is only one workout on the tape. and the sculpt 1-2 & 3-4 look pretty much the same to me. not very exciting workouts IMO. just basic weights. but, the cardio was good to get the HR up. like tracie much better.

HMMM, i didn't even cap'n crunch when i was a kid. i think it's gross. give me a break, a whole box???

Hi Ladies,

I'm still alive and I will be joining the NAVY SEALS when I finish the program. We are on our 6th week now.

My DH and I joined a couple of our friends to celebrate Valentines Day. We went to a place called M Grill. You can see the menu on the web-site mgrill.com. It is a Brazilian Churrasqueria and the food was amazing.

I have been very busy at work and that is why I have not been posting as often, but I always think of you ladies.

I will try to come back later. Have a great day!

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did Cardio Barre, ultimate workout (55 min.).

Anyone else watch the Westminster Dog Show? A Scottish deerhound, female, named Hickory won best in show. That is one big dog!

Yep, that's what your workouts sound like--preparation for Special Forces or Navy seal. So, Josie, do you have a drill sergeant as a personal trainer? I will check out that mgrill.com. Love looking at restaurant menus. What did you have for your meal?

Valerie, one little dose of chocolate seems quite reasonable. I like those 100 calorie mini-Klondike bars and have one every now and then. I agree with you on men vs. women on weight loss. Men can drop it a lot faster than women, especially post-menopausal women.

I never had Cap'n Crunch cereal either, Cathy. Only sensible stuff like Cheerios and oatmeal.

Big afternoon teaching. L'Avventura by Antonioni.

I remember having captain crunch ages ago and even then it seemed really sweet. course, products get re-formulated all the time. I stick with oatmeal these days.

Decided to do bike 20/treadmill 35 min and watch the LBB disk. Wow. it looks tough. a mix of short bursts of cardio and a lot of leg moves, lots of partials, squats, lunges. I didn't watch the entire disk. I will start with a premix and see how it goes. she does more with the sliding disks, moving leg in and out while down low. there's some jumping in there but most seemed to be small hops, not a lot of impact.

DH came home pretty sick yesterday, big full blown head cold, sneezing, coughing, runny nose. so far I'm Ok but don't hold out a lot fo hope for avoiding entirely.

still sticking with the diet. wake up hungry in the middle of the night, every night. a good sign for me. usually means the calories are low enough.

Hi all in the airport at tucson. Very hard to type on ipod so this will be short. Beautiful weather here but ready to come home. Will ppst tomorrow from balmy buffalo!

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did Bootcamp Boogie (63 min.).

Deb, hope your trip went well--no delays, lost luggage, easy check-in.

It feels like spring again here. Great to see some melting of this mountain of snow. I am done teaching for the week because of Winter Carnival on Friday. I will be seeing some students, though.

Hope you don't catch what your DH has, Valerie. There was an article yesterday in the NYTimes about zinc now known to shorten the length and allay the symptoms of colds if you start taking it within 24 hrs. of the first signs of a cold. Nice to have my experience scientifically verified.

I am reading Unbroken now. It is such a compelling true story.

Have a great day, everyone!
