Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 2/12/2023

Live Trisets Legs today. I really like that one. Moves quickly. Sunshine again here today! We've had more sunshine in February than we had Nov-Jan all together. LOL Loving it, since February is often a cold, snowy mess.

Judy nice job getting in the yoga after an early start to work.

Diane Sue, I have the original Fit Tower and I find the bar on the large side for gripping. The new bars are smaller and I tried doing some pull-ups and it worked so much better for me. I'd given up using the tower for them and had been using a band. Same reason I'm loving the Cathe barbell as my older one is pretty thick. So for me, it'll make some of the exercises more doable.

Good morning. Thanks for starting us off this week Judy. Today I did Jane Adams Gentle Yoga Morning Energy practice for 18 minutes. We didn’t get any icy weather, just cold rain that’s still going on.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Fat Burning Cardio, Raw Glute Finisher, and Raw Stretch.

Judy, nice job with Yin Yoga after your early work hours.

Cathy, great job with Live Trisets Legs. I’m glad that your weather has been sunny lately. Ours is just the opposite right now.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Judy, thank you for getting us started today.

Cathy, nice work on the Live Tri-sets workout. I have given my longer full-length barbell to my son in law with the weight bench and my 25# plates. It was actually an inch diameter. I use the Les Mills Combat barbell that is shorter, weighs 5# and has the easy clip ons to take weights off and on. It is a bit thicker but has padding on the bar grip area. I like it the best. The easy curl bar I have is not too thick either. I do have a doorway pull up bar, but I have not used it in years. Too afraid to irritate my shoulders. I used to use it for hanging knee raises and some Beach Body workouts. The top of the FIt Tower is pretty thick. I really like the foam roller and mat I got from Cathe's store. Only thing is I have to keep the dog off the mat and she loves it when I am down on the floor on the mat. Time to snuggle.

Carolyn, nice that you got Daily energy yoga in today.

Today I did a 30 minute Peloton ride and a 45 minute total body circuit at the gym.

Cathy-Great job with Live Trisets Legs. I really like that one too. I need to do it again soon.

Carolyn-Great job with Jane Adams Gentle Yoga Morning Energy.

Hi to Diane Sue & Valerie

I did All In Upper Body today. Not a fan. High reps with heavier weights for a lot of things than I was up to today. So, I dropped down for quite a few things.

Carolyn nice job with the yoga. Cold rain is no fun. I'd rather have snow than that, but we're more equipped to deal with the snow here. We're sunny the next a couple days and over 50 the next two, but what happens the day I shop? Breezy with showers and colder. LOL That's what I did last week!

Judy good job with the ride and total body circuit. I would have been much better off trying the Trisets Upper Body one.

This morning I did XTrain All Out Low Impact HiiT, floor and step cardio. That was 33 minutes and 230 calories burned. My average heart rate was 131 and maximum heart rate was 155.

Judy, great job with the 30 minute Peloton ride and total body circuit at the gym.

Cathy, great job with All in Upper Body. High reps with heavier weights would not be my favorite either.

Hello to Diane Sue and Valerie.

we are back from our california trip. really nice to see niece and husband and their 4 yo. had a great time. commute was decent each way, flights were simple, nonstop and on time and we had two really nice mountain bikes rides with them. one easy day of 10 miles of mostly paved and one more 12 miles of much more difficult terrain . went ok until the last quarter mile when I took a spill and hurt my knee, the same knee. I'm gimping around for a few days. it is not happy but doesnt look like serious damage. a hard crash and but not going very fast. we used their extra bikes but mostly I just missed a turn.
we are used to much quieter time without lots of noise, TV, and conversation. Im really tired and need to get some sleep tonight. they really worked hard to show us a good time.

I will be doing upper body only for a few days but not until tomorrow.

It looks like I am behind. I have been preparing for hosting my ladies group in the morning, I have to get up early to finish up cooking. I did CDorner Step with weights today using 5# dumbbells. She used 5's and recommended light as you never put them down through the whole workout. This was 32 minutes, heart rate 119/143, 2,225 steps. I then did Jessica Smith Walk Strong 3 Boogie I.T., 159 calories, 30 minutes, heart rate 129/151, 2,943 steps. I finished with CDorner Relaxing Flow Mobility with neck and upper back bonus, 28 minutes, 46 calories, heart rate 78/97, 31 steps. It was weird because last night and this morning my left calf hurt and felt tight. I never have experienced that. It feels good now so I guess I worked it out. Total time was 93 minutes, 354 calories, 5,199 steps.
I will have to post more tomorrow. The evening is getting away from me and I still have to clean the floors before bed. My internet went out for a while.

No workout for me today. I was up till at least 2:00 following the live coverage from MSU. This one hit me really hard. The kids of my friends who go there are all safe. No names of victims released yet. And some of these kids had already survived the Oxford shooting not even a year and a half ago. Every week when I go shopping I cut through part of campus and drive my more. It's also just so horrific.

Valerie I'm sorry you fell and hurt your knee, I hope it heals soon. Glad that your trip went smoothly and you had a good time. I get the noise though, I've dealt with that at my parents.

Diane Sue nice job with the Step, walk and mobility workouts.

nothng inherently "wrong" with noise. our house is pretty quiet. we dont have the TV on unless we are watching something specific. DH and I have always been that way and enjoy quiet. I dont think there is any way a 4 yo is quiet. Im not trying to be critical or mean! we go with the flo there, but after a few days sure feels good to have silence. even the plane was quiet yesterday. a full flight, all adults who were reading, softly conversing. a 10 am flight. not a lot of folks sucking down bloody marys that always amps up the volume. traffic home wasn't bad. we were before rush, the snow and hail that disrupted everything arrived after we were home.

knee is a lot better this morning but not exercise ready for a few days yet.

cathy so sorry you (we) are dealing with another school shooting. I used to follow every word written about this, starting with columbine so long ago. all the nonsensical "hopes and prayers". so many guns and unbalanced people.... we will never fix this without regulating who can have guns, what kind of guns, and at what age and conditions. second amendment lunatics defending their "rights". it makes me sick and it makes me angry. and it makes me tired that nothing will ever change except more people get killed for no reason by some suicidal crazy who will then take his own life. if I were a young person I would leave this country. the same thing over and over again, expecting a different outcome. schools are a high risk zone to death from gunfire. mass insanity. another shooting story doesn't even make headlines anymore. a 10 percent increase in gas prices gets more attention.

Today I did P30 Perfect Pump Upper Body and the Extended Stretch. My time was 50 minutes with 222 calories burned. Average heart rate was 120 and maximum heart rate was 173.

Valerie, I’m so glad that you had a nice visit with family. I know exactly what you mean about quiet surroundings. Children are so active and they create so much energy in the environment. It’s good that you weren’t seriously injured when you fell.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Step with Weights, JS Boogie I.T., and CDorner stretch. I’m sure that your women’s group was a big success this morning.

Cathy, I thought of you as soon as I heard the news about that campus shooting. You can’t help but be affected by it.

Waving hello to Judy. Have a wonderful day everyone.

No workout today. I always seem to not relax the night before an event. I went to bed early enough but found myself clock watching and thinking about what I had to do when I got up. I did sleep a little but was wide awake before my alarm went off. I am going to be early tonight. We had a fun day today. Lots of chatter and laughing. I ate way too much candy. We had lots of goodie bags shared along with some fun items. The ladies liked their Valentine Bingo prizes. I will have to keep my diet strict the rest of the week as Sunday is family birthdays.

Just finished Legs and Core down on the floor, and will now be using my lint brush on my nice black mat, because mostly white Flopsy had to "help." Last I saw all five of those injured in the shooting are still in critical condition. Keep hoping to hear a positive update.

Valerie I was thinking more of TV noise though you likely didn't have to deal with overly loud like I do at my parents. My Dad has hearing aids, my Mom won't even acknowledge she needs them, so the volume is to accommodate her and she will insist on having it on even if she's not paying attention, if we're in the living room. Her Mother was the same way. She wasn't answering the door one day (couldn't hear the phone of doorbell) and I went in to find the TV volume on 100 and she was sound asleep on the couch.) I didn't even know the volume went that high! Great to hear your knee is better.

Diane Sue, glad you enjoyed your day! For me it's always the night before a long drive, which is in no way productive.

This morning I did Jessica Smith’s Boogie I. T. from the 30 Day Plan. That was 30 minutes and 217 calories burned. Average heart rate 135 and maximum heart rate 156.

Diane Sue, I’m glad that your women’s group was a success. It’s hard to settle in and sleep when you have things on your mind. I’m a big time list person and it helps me to list out the preparation details and check things off.

Cathy great job with Legs and Core on the Floor. I do hope that we hear some positive news about those injured students. These school shootings are so out of control. Something has to be done.

Valerie, that’s good that your knee is better. Giving it a rest from exercising is smart.

Hello to Judy.

The TV wasnt especially loud but on all the time and the 4 yo is loud, and everyone goes above the existing TV volume. way higher total volume than we are used to. no, did not know TV's go to 100 level volume but not good! assume commercials are at 125%.

now DH is sick. upper respiratory thing so I expect we didn't dodge covid this time although we saw no obviously ill people, and family there were all fine. flights were full and airports were crowded so no way to avoid any better than we did. cancelled two medical appts because we breathed the same air and if he got it, I likely will too. crap and crap again. off to drug store for supplies. hate to go out but will mask up and make it brief. no one else to do it. knee will enjoy the rest it will get.

Yesterday I did a 45 minute Peloton Power Zone ride with 25 minutes of easy cycling afterwards. Today I did another 45 minute Peloton Power Zone ride, a Peloton 15 minute Core Strength workout and a Peloton 10 min Arms & Shoulders Strength workout.

Cathy-Great job with All in Upper Body and Legs and Core down on the floor. The MSU shooting is so devastating and even harder for you, being so close to the area.

Carolyn-Great job with XTrain All Out Low Impact HiiT, floor and step cardio, P30 Perfect Pump Upper Body and the Extended Stretch and Boogie I. T. I agree, something needs to be done about the school shootings. They are happening way to often now.

Diane Sue-Great job with CDorner Step with Weights, JS Boogie I.T., and CDorner stretch. I'm glad the women's group went well.

Valerie-I'm so sorry. I hope your DH recovers quickly and that you don't get sick. Do you have Covid tests? Hopefully it's just a cold and not Covid.

judy he tested neg last night. we have a supply of covid tests so will repeat either tonight or tomorrow. neither of us has had any upper respiratory issues in many years so all our supplies ( cough syrup etc) were badly outdated and the drug store was out of damn near everything. guess a lot of people are sick with something.

I was so tired that I slept 9 hrs. and 23 minutes last night. I did weights and a good stretch this morning as everything was achy. I am probably showing the effects of sugar overload. I did Ice Chiseled Upper Body, 49 minutes, 124 calories, heart rate 98/125. I then did CDorner Mobility with a chair all over body. This is her new one and I liked it. You do not really sit on the chair except the one leg sit and stand part. Otherwise, you use it for stretches and mobility moves. During the last part, which was a meditation relaxing thing, I used my foam roller on my upper back and trap area, vertically and horizontally. This was 30 minutes, 50 calories. Total time was 79 minutes, 174 calories, 1,122 steps.

Cathy, nice work with legs and core on the floor. I have Cathe's mat that is yellow on one side and I have to brush off the black hair when my dog gets on it. I try to get her to move away, but she has to get close to cuddle. Stretching today lying on the floor with my feet up, one arm one was extended and the other had a dog head shoved up underneath it. I do not think our tv goes to 100. Maybe 50. It seems most devices are made to not be turned up that high to save peoples hearing.
I used to have the night before a long drive when I lived 100 miles away and would have things set to go. But always laid there wide awake. Not good especially when driving alone. I used to take things to listen to besides music to listen to, to help me stay to stay awake.

Carolyn, nice work doing JS Boogie I.T. I keep lists all of the time. Funny, one of the ladies bought me a large grocery list pad. I have a list by me all of the time to add to and also my agenda book keeps me up on things. Lists of what I am preparing for special dinners, as I have been known to have something I forgot to cook or get out of the refrigerator or cabinet. Then I create budget charts and add extras. Idea lists. I used to put things in my cell phone, but I like paper better.

Valerie, a house with children is usually nosier than without. When our family is together it gets loud because you have different conversations going on at the same time. Could not imagine it with the television on as well.
I am sorry that your husband got sick. Maybe it is just another virus. They are still going around. I hope it is not covid. My husband did not get covid when I had it and a year later he had it and I did not get it. I probably had immunity to it since I already had it. Glad I did not get it because it was just a week after I had surgery. He was off work to take care of me and it ended up both of us trying to help each other out. My daughter brought covid tests and prepared food over. The first covid test was negative, and my daughter told us to wait I think it was 24 hours, but he was so sick the next morning she said to do it again and it showed positive really quickly. I try to check my stock before cold and flu season starts. I have stuff, but no cough syrup. Just some cough gels tabs.

Judy, nice job on the Peloton Power Zone Ride and easy ride afterward. Also today's Power Zone Peloton ride, with Core Strength and Peloton arms and shoulders strength.

Judy,

Today I did P30 Perfect Pump Lower Body for 35 minutes and 180 calories burned. My average heart rate was 120 and maximum heart rate was 159. Then I did the Step Boss Extended Chair Stretch for an additional 16 minutes and 25 calories.

Valerie, I’m so sorry that your husband is sick after your trip. Hopefully it’s not Covid. You are reminding me that I need to take a look at our medicines. Once I stopped working around children I rarely get sick that way.

Judy, great job with your Peloton rides, Core Strength, and Arms and Shoulders.

Diane Sue, you were really tired to have slept so long. Great job with Chiseled Upper Body and CDorner Mobility with a chair. I’m the same way with lists for cooking big meals. I don’t want to forget to do something!

Hello to Cathy. Have a wonderful day everyone.
