Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 12/30

Not to throw a negative spin on things but I stuck in Cardio leg Blast #6. this is everything I DO NOT want in a workout. jumping and more jumping, up and down off the step. I was pretty sure this was the least likely disk I'd use, so I decided to get the bad news over with and try it. No. Way.
I will jump on the floor, jacks, even plyo jacks, and I did those. I will not jump up and down on/ off a step. many moves are for a full size step and not adaptable to a high step, but I hate those moves regardless. did most of the weight parts but didn't like those either. squats, lunges. I don't like them mixed in with cardio. seemed like a lot of dead lifts which never do anything for me no matter how much weight or maneuvering. it was like a compilation of every move I don't like.

and the music was obnoxious and too loud. gosh, I sound pretty cranky, don't I?? Hip thrusts( whatever they are) will look good after this one.

I went to yoga this morning, just 3 of us so she worked us hard. very hard. that was why I was looking for a lower body workout today instead of upper. but it won't be this one.

Feeling better today, and if I don't have to work tomrorow, will feel even better! Keep you fingers crossed.

Garance, yes, still doing the final reviews on certain items, and then we have to make the adjustments in the system to match the physical counts. It's a simple process but can get pretty hairy when you have over 22,000 items.

Lori, I love morning workouts too, as a matter of fact, if I don't do it in the morning, I don't even pretend to plan on doing it after work. I chug down a couple of STOK shots ( in lieu of waiting for coffee to brew and drink,) which gets me going.

Josie, hope you had fun on your "date"!

Valerie, I was thinking the same when I saw the clip of Cardio Leg Blast, that this was going to be my least favorite. I have not previewed, or really studied the pre-mixes yet. Maybe a pre-mix that is more weight focused would be a better one to do? As for the music, I have to say, I don't even hear the music on the DVD's...I guess I tune it out. When people start commenting on the threads about being happy Cathe included some song by some artist or sounds like a certain artist I have no idea what they are talking about, don't remember the music at all.

What is everyone doing this weekend? any plans besides starting a rotation?
 
Deb, I'd looked at some clips but didn't remember which was which. after I got going I realized which one this was. I usually don't notice music either.. just background noise... but I did on this one and it was annoying & intrusive. will try another today, probably earlier in the day.
I'd like to print up workout sheets for the rest of these disk, have you come across any yet? and what are STOK shots?

I can work out early or later but on yoga mornings I don't come home and do another workout right away. if I wait until 3:30-4 it feels like a another day.

Josie, go for that spin bike! we like ours alot. DH uses it more often than I do. we've had trouble figuring out what to watch while on it. there aren't many good spin workouts we've found. it seems necessary to watch something. Cathe's disk was the best one but don't want to watch the same thing every week. he hasn't done the xtrain one yet. I think he bought a couple different spin disks but only used them once, so any ideas?
 
Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, and Lori--

This morning I did Hard Strikes (46:37) with my 1 lb. gloves. I modify all of the jacks to side-by-side jacks and a few other modifications for lowering impact, but most of this is very do-able.

Deb, I'm going to see Anna Kareninia this weekend, and we will go out for dinner (Comfort Sunday) on Sunday. Not sure what is on the menu this week. Hope you are done soon with all the inventory. I will let you know about Downton Abbey schedule, which premieres on Sunday night.

Lori, I work out in the morning, but I think I start well after you are finishing up. I usually get up at 6:15, and do some serious stretching and slow waking up, watching the local weather, and drink a big glass of water. Start my workout about 6:45, done before 8. When I was teaching, I always asked for afternoon classes so I didn't have to get up too early to work out. Now it doesn't matter.

Josie, if you want a head's up on our rotation, I think you can find the undulating workout somewhere on the calendar, click "Add Workout" and find XTrain. Lori and I are beginning with a chest, back, shoulders workout on Sunday.

Valerie, I modfied on the Leg Blast a lot, but thought it was do-able. I can manage jumping on a 6 inch step, but never the 10 inch Cathe uses. The workout I am afraid of is Tabatacise--I haven't even looked at it yet.
 
I haven't watched all the dvd's yet. So far I have only done super cuts and hard strikes and I really liked them both! Since I am planning to start on sunday and do the 90 day rotation I decided at last minute to do other cathe workouts since I will not being doing them for 3 months. I will have to watch cardio legs tomorrow to see what it's all about. I remember watching the clips and seeming to like it but clips only give a snap shot.

Garance...looking at the rotation I will have to switch a couple of workouts. Mondays I usually workout in the morning at work so I need to do a workout that requires no equipment. I will plan on hardstrikes on monday and cardio leg on tuesday.
 
Just got back from vacation. Boy am I ready to get back to exercise. I will be starting the 90 day rotation also. The only thing I have to work around is upper body on Tuesday and lower body on Thursday with Josh. I will be giving him the rotation to see what we need to do to work around this.

Is anyone doing the 1rep max this time?
 
Did Supercuts yesterday and liked it a lot. I had trouble with one move , forget what it was called. the plank position with the kick through. everything else went Ok although I was conservative and used 5's. new moves, lighter weight. I'll go to 8's after I've done it a few times. I again had trouble with the soundtrack being too loud, with it drowning out Cathe especially toward the end. I know I can switch to voice only which I may do. even the sit ups/push ups weren't bad although I can't go quite that fast.

hip thrusts... I did a few of those but how important is the weight? I don't think she said... was that about 25 lbs?

I hadn't noticed until yesterday that the booklet has all the exercises and weights listed so no need for a printed work sheet. very nice.

Joan, I don't bother with 1 rep max. I go light until I feel comfortable and see how the entire workout is set up, and the pacing. I record what weight I use. if heavier would be fine, I mark the weight with an "up" or "down" arrow for next time.
 
I liked super cuts a lot too. Was really feeling it the next day. Today was Plyo legs, run and then walked chester. Been really cold here this week so we walked really fast today!

I do not do the 1rep max either. I try and right down what I use and make adjustments when needed. This works for me.

Excited to start Xtrain tomorrow!!!!!
