Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 12/24/2023

This morning I did the cardio from Slide and Glide. Somehow I always manage to forget how many burpees are in that one. LOL And I did STS Disk 4 which is chest, biceps and shoulders. 7 different kinds of pushups and I did not figure out the reps. I did that one time and  :D We are in the midst of a very dreary weather pattern that's cloudy, a bit rainy and warm-40's-50. Definitely NOT Christmas weather. No workout yesterday.

Judy enjoy your active recovery week.

Valerie I hope you are able to get some walks in. Sounds like you have a solid plan.

Carolyn we are in a similar position. We've been here 26 years and the house is 29 years old. Still have the original fridge and water heater. Everything else has had a replacement. Glad you got a very fast delivery set up.

Diane Sue great job with CDorner Fast Basic Step and the mobility/stretch workouts.

Good afternoon. This morning I did my yoga/mobility for 18 minutes. The new refrigerator was delivered about 6:00 last night and we spent the evening getting things set up and restored to order.

Cathy, great job with Slide and Glide cardio and STS disc 4. Our weather has warmed up also and rain is expected. It will be a very rainy Christmas Day for us.

Hello to Diane Sue, Judy, and Valerie.

I walked around our yard, up and down for 40 min yesterday. also did my indoor exercises with the slider disk, toe raises, and yoga balances plus curls. I always liked the slide and glide workout and have used the glider disks a lot.
this morning we went to the tree farm and walked some of the trails for 90 minutes. it is also up and down and not paved. when walking every day, the softer surface is a good thing. I would love to be riding there instead. hopefully soon. it's kinda boring to walk the area is better suited to biking.

we have the same weather pattern here. going to be dreary and wet. we walked this morning while it was still dry but it wont last.

we've been in our house a little longer, about 33 yrs, and everything has been replaced at least once. some things are up for the 3rd time.
If anyone else is watching The Crown on Netflix, the final episodes are up as of this last week. I fully understand much of the script is imagined because no one was there to record it, but it is a fascinating drama and I highly recommend it. I don't care at all about the royals or the monarchy and think it's way way outlived its usefulness, but it is a fascinating look at recent history as it relates to queen elizabeth and her family. its a quality series I enjoyed a lot. the casting and acting are fantastic.

No workout today. It has been windy and rain and drizzle since last night. Went to church and came back to put a pork tenderloin in marinade for tomorrow. I always use a recipe from Cooking Light for this that uses soy sauce, orange juice, and ginger. It has been a family favorite over the years.

Cathy, I always lose count on reps when there are a lot and I am struggling just getting through all of them. Dreary weather here too.

Carolyn, I am glad you got your refrigerator, and it is all set up. I am sure that is a relief. Nice work on your usual Sunday morning yoga.

Valerie, I guess a lot of us are getting the rain. Glad you got out for a walk before it started. I never could understand why we would be that interested in British royalty. Movies are sometimes interesting though.

This morning I did the new Gloved Up and Ready. It's a good solid workout. Straight forward, no learning curve. There are burpees, which I know some people prefer not to do. I think this is the only city background I like as the colors are very nice.

I hope everyone had an enjoyable day.

Today I did LiTE Stacked Sets Upper Body. My time was 44 minutes with 259 calories burned. My average heart rate was 107 and maximum heart rate was 137.

Diane Sue, great job with STS 2.0 Lower Body 1 and Total Body Stretch.

Cathy, great job with the new workout Gloved Up and Ready.

Hello to Judy and Valerie.

Yesterday I did 15 on the treadmill and 15 on the spin bike along with the standing exercises I usually do. today we did our park walk but instead of taking an hour and a half, it took an hour and 20 minutes. walking faster!. 8 weeks since surgery today. a lovely day today sunny and mid fifties. feels like spring.

my air fryer just stopped working righty. need to replace it ASAP. I use it more as a toaster oven but I use it alot.

This morning I did STS Disk 5. I think Friday when I do legs, I'll stop at the point where the guys disappear and do the bonus from the new Killer Legs workout. I have to shop again tomorrow because I have to take Nick to the airport Thursday. Time has flown.

Carolyn great job with LiTE Stacked Sets Upper Body.

Valerie that's wonderful that you are walking faster. We are still 50's here, but getting colder, though not as cold as usual.

Saturday I worked 6 hours and did a short mobility workout in the evening. Sunday I did an easy Peloton recovery ride, Jessica Smith’s Stronger Knees Bonus and and some stretching. Christmas was a rest day and today I did a 45 minute Peloton Tabata Ride. I can’t count today as active rest but I do plan on doing active rest/easy workouts for the rest of the week.

Cathy-Great job with the cardio from Slide and Glide, STS Disk 4, Gloved Up and Ready and STS Disk 5. I will be doing Gloved Up and Ready next week. Thanks for the review, it sounds like one I will like.

Carolyn-Great job with yoga/mobility and LiTE Stacked Sets Upper Body.

Valerie-Great job with the walking, indoor exercises, treadmill & spin bike. Awesome that you are walking faster! I just subscribed to Netflix. Peloton has that on their tablets now so I can watch while riding/rowing. I’ll probably watch The Crown and a few other things that I’ve been wanting to see.

Diane Sue-Great job with STS 2.0 Lower Body #1 and Total Body Stretch.

Judy I think most people would enjoy The Crown if they like dramas. its not a documentary but does follow history. we finished it tonight. we had subtitles on ( usually do) but they aren't necessary. I'm not someone who paid much attention to the monarchy, or most of the people in it. Queen Elizabeth was in her position for a long long time. the history that she crosses paths with is long and fascinating. it's a classy, well thought out production with great casting that covers 80 years of modern history. no question much of the dialogue is imagined since there was no one present to record most of it and the royals are a private bunch. I had little problem keeping track of who was whom, but DH did. as time passes, they have a different set of actors playing the same characters as they get older. 4 actresses played Elizabeth at different times in her life, so it helps to pay attention to names and to know who had which children. I hope you like it.

Today I did Rev’d Up Rumble for 41 minutes and 283 calories burned. My average heart rate was 131 and maximum heart rate was 168. I had some shopping failures with my Christmas gifts. One item never arrived and was lost somewhere between the Vendor and UPS. The Vendor kept telling me that it was shipped on the 16th, but UPS only said that a label was created. I had the Vendor refund my money. Another item arrived on time, but it wasn’t what I ordered! The invoice had the correct item listed, but that’s not what was in the package. I am in the process of returning that one for a refund. It was very frustrating.

Cathy, great job with STS disc 5. That was a very short visit for Nick.

Judy, great job with the mobility workout, Peloton rides, JS Stronger Knees bonus, and stretching.

Valerie, gold job with the treadmill, elliptical, and longer outdoor walking. You are making great progress. I watched a couple of the earlier seasons of The Crown before it was on Netflix. I love reading historical fiction and I enjoyed the episodes of the show that I watched.

Well the rest of my family s arriving today so I need to get busy. Have a wonderful day everyone.

No workout today as I shopped. Nick flies out tomorrow afternoon. So glad he got afternoon arrival/departure. It's a cross country drive and I'm not fond of it in the dark. Too many potential creatures out.

Judy enjoy your rest week. I'll be interested to hear what you think of Gloved Up and Ready.

Valerie as the person in charge of stockings I was the one purchasing the gift cards and got myself a Netflix one. I may check out the Crown. I'll probably only get it for a couple months.

Carolyn nice job with Rev’d Up Rumble. Since the first Christmas he came home, his visits are usually 7-8 days. He has to make enough money for his expenses. Since he got a Chief Scribe position and is in charge of scheduling as well as working his own shifts he works around 40 hours, and taking a week off is about as much as he wants. He did drive into town today to meet a friend he graduated with at TCU. They were visiting family in MI and passing through our area on their way to where they live now in CT.

Hi Diane Sue.

cathy there are 6 seasons to The Crown. each season has about 12 episodes. its a long series. we watched each season as it came out, backing up an episode or two if we didnt remember where it left off the year before. they focus on each time period with a set of actors for a season or two, then jump forward to a new time with different actors portraying the same people. definitely not a documentary but historically things are accurate and the well known people are distinct. theres plenty of other things on netflix if you dont like it, but things come and go sometimes without warning. world leaders like winston churchill, margaret thatcher and recent ones like the kennedys, clinton are part of the story. queen elizabeth had quite the life! King Charles/Princess Diana have a large role over decades. it's not something you can watch in a weekend.

carolyn I would LOVE to do Rev'd up Rumble! love that one. still a while. we did medical appts early this morning, and then costco run this afternoon so I only did standing exercises and no formal walk.

I didn’t work out today. It’s difficult to find time or the space when everyone is here unless I do it really early. I went to the new “real” Costco store today for the first time. It’s nice to see the departments that aren’t in the business center. I didn’t overdo it this trip. It takes a while to learn the layout of the store.

Cathy, it’s always good when our adult children are home.

Valerie, you’ll be doing Rev’d Up Rumble again before you know it.

Hello to Judy and Diane Sue.

Enjoy your day everyone.

I did My Finished Combos this morning. Managed to slop a bit of just out of the kettle tea on my thigh. Had sweats on over my leggings. It's not too bad. About the size of a quarter. We'll see what it looks like tomorrow. I was wearing shorts around the house, but put on loose sweats to take Nick to the airport and it was just a bit chilly for shorts in the car! Dropped him off and headed home and they were getting ready for takeoff when I got back here. He messaged me that he's back home a few minutes ago. On the way to the airport I asked him when he was working again and he said tonight at 9 and at the farthest location. He's nuts. And honestly, he did laundry this morning and I came down 10 minutes before we were supposed to leave and he was just starting to pull things out of the basket and pack. Ugh

Carolyn I get the extra people in the house impacting workouts. Though mine were disrupted as much by a bad week of sleeping as having Nick here, since he can sleep though anything. Because of my tea spill, it took me 12 minutes to get down and turn off his first alarm today. Blaring away right by his head. Has to be something in my family gene pool as he, my nephew and my brother are all like that.
