Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 12/22

Good morning,

Today I did premix #1 from the new PHA3 Dvd. 37 minutes, 201 calories. Last week I did LIVE "All in Upper Body, 52 minutes, 300 calories. Monday was 11,868 steps, Tuesday 10,752. The Live upper body workout was one of the toughest I have done. Whew! 30 exercises, no repeating. As for the new PHA3, I'm glad I only did a premix. I'm not sure I would have been able to do the whole thing. I got up at 3:15 this morning, woke up and could not get back to sleep. A nap is definitely on order today.

Valerie, I feel for your DH. It is so frustrating when you don't know what causes things. I agree with your thought that he should do an elimination diet to see what the food triggers may be. Never heard of fabric softener for removing wallpaper either, but will keep it in mind. The only wallpaper we have left is in our half-bath. I am so ready to have it gone. Does your DH have to use that colonoscopy prep? Not the normal procedure? BTW, Happy Anniversary!

Carolyn, good job on the workouts! Walk Fit is a MP3 workout that I use for the treadmill. You can easily do it outside as well. Kudos for your getting the gifts wrapped early this year. :)

Judy, hope the sleep study gives some workable results. Glad you liked the chair stretch on the IMAX DVD. I ordered that one just for that stretch and the ab bonus workout.

Diane Sue, what is the benefit of using this alternate colonoscopy prep? It sounds very inconvenient. Agree on PHA3 workout, I thought I was working harder than the calorie count showed. Do you use the downloads to make your own premixes? I was really looking forward to those stacker ab moves, hope I can do them!

Hi to Lori,

Take care,

Deb, no clue why fabric softener helps. our old wallpaper was still firmly attached. there were several ideas on how to help release without damaging the wall underneath. this sounded simple. we diluted softener, sprayed it on the strips of paper. most of it peeled off with out damaging the drywall underneath. some glue was left. we sanded it off lightly after dry. even so, once there has been wallpaper, you likely can't just paint the wall. it would need a skim coating /spray on texture so it would match whatever finish your other painted walls have. we chose to re-paper. this is a small powder room off the family room. we changed lighting, countertop, sink, toilet. only floor is the same and even that is not for certain just yet.

DH's prep was 4 days of a low fiber diet, then tomorrow the "clear liquid only" day, with the giant double dose of Miralax, half at "dinner" time, the other half at 1 am. he has a long list of things may be migraine triggers. soy, soy sauce products , pecans, hunger, turkey, caffeine/ no caffeine, MSG, missing sleep, stress. there are more. very hard to tell between an actual CAUSE, and just a coincidence..... like if he had peanut butter sandwich at noon and got a headache at 2 pm, is there a connection? probably not, but you can't be sure because it might not always happen. he developed migraines more as a middle age adult. caffeine (and hunger) are the biggest offenders. too much... definitely. too little... definitely.

Today is another rest day. Daughter number 2 and her family are here. I hope to get in an early morning workout tomorrow. It’s hard to fit it in when I the house is full of people.

Valerie, I had migraines from childhood until I was in my forties. They got much better after that, but I am careful not to get too hungry. Triggers for me included MSG and tannins in red wine.

Hello to Everyone. Have a great afternoon.

I just finished Rev’d Up Rumble for 41 minutes and 295 calories burned. My average heart rate was 132 and maximum heart rate was 160. Glad to have this done before anyone else gets up.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Good morning,

Today I did Cardio Coach, vol 1 on the treadmill, 31 minutes, 220 calories. I also did the new bonus Ab Stacker and extended stretch from the new PHA3 DVD. It will take some time to be able to do all the reps etc from the Ab Stacker workout. I thought the movement of the risers would be the hard part, but that is fairly easy, its what you do when you get them in place that is hard. LOL...

Valerie, I used some mixture that I found on Pinterest when I took the wallpaper off the walls in our front hall a couple years ago. I think I saved the mixture on my PC somewhere. I bought one of those scoring things, which our painter said not to use. It does score the paper, but also can mess up the walls.

Carolyn, good job on Rev'd Up Rumble....that is so nice that your daughter and family are coming in for the holiday.

Hi to Diane Sue, Judy and Lori,

Take care,

Deb we read a bunch of methods and the fabric softener came up quite a few times and was easy to find. I'm sure its not the only way. we used a scoring tool on the paper. some wallpaper is really thick, like ours was. old paper was much heftier than the newer stuff. we thought we'd get more damage using a putty knife with possibly gouging into the drywall. scratching the paper worked fine, allowed the softener to penetrate. with thin or old paper scoring might be too deep. we had a lot of glue left behind but it sanded off after it dried. the wall had a lot of minor bumps and the corners were definitely not straight. we are happy with how its turning out. we have a light varied taupe/cream horizontal overall random pattern. there were plain linen look papers that would have been OK too, but I thought the wall defects might have shown more clearly.
I always miss being able to talk about new workouts I didnt get.

today will be a tough one . DH got another headache last night, this morning we have the plumber coming. DH is already "difficult". I know he's doing a tough process but he doesn't need to take it out on me, like its my fault.
carolyn good job fitting in a workout.

I did rev up rumble and Abs yesterday. Dh didn’t get another headache but was pretty terrible all day except when plumber was here. Plumber replaced main pipe from base of toilet to main line. Very quick, needed to be done Less than $500.made right decision there. Nothing we could have done. Would have had him set the toilet but were waiting for for roll of wallpaper yet and want the space without toilet.
At the clinic now for his 6:45 appt. allowed for normal traffic and there was none. We were early. most days the drive would be a slog He was not happy with the prep. He Got no sleep so I didn’t get much either.

Good Morning. Today I did Stacked Sets Upper Body for 41 minutes and 245 calories burned. My average heart rate was 127 and maximum heart rate was 160.

We had a wonderful Christmas yesterday. There was no extended family this year, just the eight of us. The grandkids were excited of course, but so were the adults! I hope all of you are doing well.

Good morning. Hope everyone had a good Christmas.
I lost a post or two somehow. Did a 90 minute hike yesterday in the morning. The day before I did chiseled upper body. Not sure about today yet . Would like to ride somewhere.
expect last roll of wallpaper to arrive, if anyone is working today. would love to finish bathroom but won’t be surprised if it takes a few extra days to get here

carolyn, I bet you're are right. when our new phone got connected, it brought up a lot of old connections and apps and programs. I picked the wrong one. I didn't realize at first what happened. I had to delete old versions of several apps showed up on the new phone along with favorites list.
also, I forget if I corrected myself... the main charging cord we used most does not work with the new phone. I thought all chargers were toast, but several spread between our vehicles worked fine. I will test each one. very strange since they look identical, are about the same age.
DH is going out with a friend, so no ride today. besides, it was clear last night and everything is frozen and frosty, potentially too slick to ride. tomorrow maybe instead.

Good morning,

It sounds like had a great Christmas! Ours was nice, very relaxing. All we had to do was make some things to bring to both places. We did the usual, brother's house on Christmas eve, and cousins yesterday. I am really tired of eating!

Have great day!

This morning I did I Max 4 time saver intervals 6-10, 27 minutes, met 8.0, 151 calories, heart rate 133, max 166, 2,530 steps followed by Step Boss Intermediate bonus step, 21 minutes, heart rate average 131, max 149, 2315 steps, met 6.4, 114 calories. I finished off with Jessica Smith Gentle Yoga, Total Body Flow, heart rate average 126, max 154, 27 steps, met 3.5, 85 calories. Total time was 70 minutes, 350 calories, 4,872 steps.
My Versa 2 seems to be giving me higher burns and heart rate with the Yoga than my Blaze. By a lot really. Blaze was always really low and half what Map My Fitness gave.
Yesterday I did I Max 4 timesaver combos 1-5 timesaver followed by Jessica Smith Gentle Yoga neck and shoulder flow and chest and back flow. My neck was hurting from Mondays game playing in the bent over position and I have not been doing enough stretching and therapy exercises. My grandson came over yesterday for awhile.

Deb, you are getting some good steps in. The prep I did seemed to not leave me in as much discomfort and cramping. The only thing that was miserable was after the prep and some sort of abdominal discomfort when I walked that hung on for a few days. I had wondered if that was caused from the procedure itself. They said a lot of people found the prep with the food pack to make it a lot more comfortable. Not that there was a lot of food. One meal was a small dish, maybe a half cup of fettucine alfredo. There was two oreo cookies for a snack Everything had an exact time to eat it along with the drink. It had crystal light packets but I did not use them. I just mixed the powder in water and drank it.

Valerie, I hope all went well for your husband today. I understand not having the toilet put in before you get the wallpaper finished on that wall. It is so difficult to paint and paper behind a toilet with it there. I am glad your husband's headache let up. I hope things are better when the procedure is over.

Carolyn, I had migraines when I was in high school. It was so miserable. Nice that you got your workout in before anyone got up. It sounds like you had a nice Christmas with just your family :)

Deb, I did better the second time with ab stacker, but after my neck pain started on Monday I have not wanted to try again. I will wait. It is a challenge and I really did not like holding a riser out in front of me doing supermans.

Lori, so nice to see you drop in :D I hope you had a wonderful Christmas.

Judy, I hope your Christmas was a great one.

Hi Everyone,

I've been doing Peloton rides every day since 12/19. Chris is on vacation until Jan 6th and he’s been working on a bunch of projects with his electronics and musical equipment in the basement. He never has enough time for his projects when he’s working so I just decided to focus on Peloton workouts until he goes back to work, rather than make him stop while I workout. It's just easier for me to workout upstairs on the Peloton. I've been enjoying it but I'm looking forward to getting back to Cathe's workouts.
We had a good Christmas. It was very quiet and relaxing.

Deb-Great workouts this week! I can't wait to try PHA3 and the bonus ab workouts.

Diane Sue-Great job with the Step Boss workouts! It will take me awhile before I'm ready to try IMAX 4.

Lori-nice to see you!

Hi to Valerie & Carolyn,

Judy

Good morning,

No workout, or basically anything yesterday. Spent almost the whole day either on the couch, or in bed. The headache was the kind that makes you nauseas as well. I could not stand being in any light.

Diane Sue, good job on the new Step Boss workouts! that is great that your new FitBit shows more realistic calories burned. I also did not like holding the riser when doing supermans. I can't do them when I hold nothing! I basically lifted my arms and my legs would not go up at all. I think I will stick to the "old fashioned" prep....it is no fun, but does not have all the other issues that seem to come with the new versions.

Judy, great job on the Peloton workouts. Nice that Chris has time this week to work on those projects.

Hi to Lori, Valerie & Carolyn,

Take care,
