Good morning,

A little late getting here today.

Valerie, from experience, I would rather have the culture right away, and start treating with the correct antibiotic. I still paid for a cheaper (less telling) UA....just the one to see if the infection was still there. I had 4 different ones a few years ago, before they figured out which one would work, and ended up with C-diff. I'm just glad that they finally sent one. An easy solution to your phone woes....change your password on the phone and don't give it to him! LOL There probably is a good premix in that Bootcamp workout that would be better for your space etc. We are the same with the land line. I have an old trimline wall phone, and a portable with 3 handsets spread around the house.

Diane Sue, we still have a land line as well. I really prefer talking on a land line than a cell. I hope Gertie is better today.

Carolyn, good job on ICE Lower Body Blast. I don't know what it is about men and technology. They are either super into it, and have to have every gadget out there, and all have to be updated constantly, or like my husband, sort of use it, but would prefer not to. he had to get the iPhone because of the alarm system in his office. They send alerts to your phone....otherwise he would have kept his old flip phone.

Judy, I like the looks of that workout! Doesn';t she do a lot of step workouts?

Hi to Lori,

Take care,

Deb, now you and the vet know that! In people, most infections turn out to be E.coli . there are different strains of it and some are tougher than others. is this a common issue for puppies? maybe he will grow out of it as he matures. is it common to terriers?
I don't know why I didn't look for a premix. I wanted to do the whole workout. I've done it before, but not a favorite.
my phone has the fingerprint unlock. changing the pw would start WWIII. he will be fine if it turns out to work well. I need to go to the PO to prove my identity before it starts .

I've heard how annoying it is to search for the phone after dropping a land line. land line is $20 a month from cable, the convenience is worth it. I used to be fine with a flip phone, but smart phones I am always touching a button I shouldn't be. dropped calls, and echos too. I love my smart phone, but for actual talking, I like the land line. I wonder if that's one reason young people don't talk on the phone but prefer to text. at our vacation house we need two phones. no land line there. Easier with the same type of phone, so we ended up with both iphones. also we have a smart thermostat and it communicates with the iPhones

not sure what to do today, gray and rainy outside.

Hello Ladies,
Today is my rest day so no workout to report. I decided to start on Christmas cookies today. I will bake and freeze them so that I don’t have to look at them :).

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day.

Today was a rest day. I did a 26 minutes Les Mills Body Flow Flexibility workout this morning. We had a houseful for brunch today. I am going to need some good workouts and eating to make up for these holiday gatherings.

Deb, we have a set of land line phones in a box. Never set one up. We kept them at our last home because it some of my husband needed it just in case there was an emergency call and the cells were not working. Also, my Dad could hear me better on a land line than on a cell phone. The connection was so much better. We just got internet and no other services when we moved here. Gertie seems better today. Although we had a house full of family and others :) She got lots of attention. I think I get too many alerts and notifications on my phone. I keep shutting down most of them and even the text messages that are not family related.

Valerie, I don't use my cell phone for shopping and I understand not liking it for hitting wrong buttons. I hate those calls where they tell you to push number ? to get somewhere or want you to put in your phone number or account before they direct you to a person. I always have to go back and find the key pad. I do my ordering on the computer or my tablet, rarely the cell phone. Gertie is 5 years old, she still acts like a pup. The last time she had problems she I found she had a gash in the side of her leg. I think she gets over excited and flies over the stairs and slides into the brick fireplace because the wood floor does not have grip. That is a reason I had added a runner rug at the bottom of the stairs so she didn't slide when she hit the bottom.

Carolyn, I made all of those sugar cookies and then a friend from church gave me ginger cookies. To many temptations hanging around. I am going to a ladies brunch Tuesday morning and thankfully they are doing a baked potato bar and white elephant gift exchange.

I was thinking Gertie was an old dog, so not likely what I was thinking. Hope she is better! so hard when our buddies are having problems.
I way prefer using the desktop for shopping. I often read the newspaper on the phone but shopping gets confusing. too easy to hit the wrong parts of the screen. the desktop is so much easier.

I did 30 on the treadmill and MM back from Ice. I am so pleased with how well my shoulder is functioning. I did decent weight today and it wasn't hard.
weather is so crappy this time of year. would like to do something but too wet to ski.

Good morning,

PT exercises only yesterday. I sure hope I am able to do the new workouts when they get here.

Valerie, the vet said the same thing, that is usually is e-coli, but it seems that this may be different. He said that when he gets a puppy with this, he gives the antibiotic that he have IKE, and it is cleared up with one round. Same here, I hate talking on the cell phone, I feel like I am screaming, and the other person is either screaming, or I can't hear them. So much prefer my land line. Mine is also included with the internet package.

Carolyn, have fun baking! Freezer or not, I would be into them Big Time!

Diane Sue, glad Gertie is on the mend. There is a baked potato bar for the food? All stuff to put on baked potatoes? what if you don';t eat baked potatoes? Also, never heard of a white elephant gift exchange.

Hi to Judy & Lori,

Take care,

Well that's the problem, e coli is getting harder to eliminate. Hopefully he just needs a longer course of antibiotics, or maybe a different drug. It doesn't sound different from treatment for people. sometimes there are structural or functional issues that make someone more susceptible to infections. I use myself as an example. when I was a child, I had UTIs constantly. as I grew up, body structure changed enough so I no longer was prone to them. girls have shorter urethras so get UTIs easier than boys. not sure if that's also true for dogs! some dog breeds are more susceptible to certain health problems like breathing issues for the pug nosed breeds. hopefully this will all get resolved with medication.

the person I have to talk to most is my sister. she has bad phone skills. she talks too loud, talks non stop constantly, and the normal exchange of each person "speaking in turn" gets lost especially on a cell phone. really, I have to constantly tell her to just shut up and listen. much less difficult on a land line. DH acts like I'm "weird' using the land line, but strangely whenever he needs to talk to someone he uses the land line too. especially when entering long string account numbers, or a telephone tree of questions. and when the phone rings, you don't have to search for it.

I don't know if it still means the same thing, but white elephant gifts ( long ago) used to be something kind of silly and not useful, like calendar for 2018, or some other outdated object no one uses anymore. like a VCR. I haven't heard the expression in decades! I remember the baked potatoes from Wendys. it was one of the few fast food things I would eat and probably was not that healthy with the ton of cheese.

I think we won't be getting the new workouts for xmas. sounds like they are a ways out yet. I'm fine with that. watched part of first clip today, looks a lot like rock em sock em. some new faces in the crew.

we did a mt bike this morning, not long. its too muddy in winter, trails are closed, roads only. we did about 5 miles RT. most of the elevation gain though, so its a good workout.

Today I did Cardio Supersets for 41 minutes and 252 calories burned. My average heart rate was 124 and maximum heart rate was 158.

Deb, I hope you can do the new workouts too. Based on the clips so far the pace should be a good one for you. Cathe and crew aren’t moving as quickly in these workouts as they usually do.

Diane Sue, it sounds like you had a nice day yesterday. The brunch with your friends and white elephant gift exchange will be fun too.

Valerie, I agree, the new workouts don’t sound like they will be here for Christmas. They should be ready shortly after that, or I hope so.

Hello to Lori and Judy.

This morning I had so much wasted time. I am not sure how much time I will have for workouts this week. Map My Fitness was not working on my tablet and I kept trying to get a new password and it would say it was sent to my email to reset and nothing. My Fit Bit did not do the sleep stages last night so I shut it down this morning and made sure it was charged. It did terrible for the workout.
I did Less Mills Pump and forgot to write down which # it was. It was a full workout. With interruptions and adjustments it took me 63 minutes, originally supposed to be 56 minutes. LOL Fit Bit had me at 156 calories, Map My Fitness(I used my cell phone since) with the Body Pump setting and it said I had 550 calorieso_O So, I used my heart rate and calorie calculator along with my usual met value and came up with 313 calories at met 4.5 which is probably correct, 1,253 steps. These are non stop fast paced workouts. This one was particularly filled with shoulder work, including the warm up.
Workout was like this tracks generally around 5 minutes give or take a minute
squat track 40# barbell
back track 30# barbell and 12# dumbbell in place of single plate they used
this was squat presses with deadlifts and rows
Triceps track used a weight plate 12# dumbbell for me
overhead extensions, dips, push ups
Biceps 25# barbells , 12# dumbbells in place of plates ( I noticed the guys were using 22# plates and the girls lighter) curls with variations and the breaks are row and curls
lunge/squat track 15# dumbbell instead of plate The ladies were using 11# and the guy that was using a weight plate 22# This is reverse lunge sequences with pulses and some speed as it builds with a squat pulls as a break between all right then on to left
shoulders track 20# barbell and 8# dumbbells is what I used the guys used 11# weight plates and I think the bar was loaded to around 27# total. This does the same moves with the plates as they do the barbell alternating. upright row, front raise, and push press. I was worried about my shoulders on this. So many overhead presses today.
Abs done with a plate . I used 10# this was crunches, weight plate twist right left 2X then crunch repeat as a sequence It was not a long track and did not have any plank stuff.
I had to run to the store for a couple of more things for Christmas and something for tomorrow.

Deb, it is just something the women decided to do was have a baked potato bar. We can bring things for that or other items. I have not decided whether to make some buffalo chicken dip from Whole 30 and take some sliced veggies with it or make a pumpkin cream cheese crumb cake which was what I had first planned. Not much time to make up my mind :) They said someone is bringing deviled eggs. I would prefer a baked sweet potato myself, but I can eat a baked potato. White elephant gift exchanges are done like dirty santa except that they are something that is a nice item from your home that you don't use or want and they exchange that. No going out and buying a gift. I am going to take a divided ceramic dish that I got from Avon with some other pieces in a collection. I have used it a couple of times for veggies and dip. It is really pretty and I have cups that match, but it just sits inside our glass cabinet. I think I have already got rid of most things that I don't want anymore.

Valerie, my father in law could not hear well and even with a land line it was a yelling match. We sent him a phone that was supposed to make the incoming voice louder and I don't think that he ever opened it. My husband used to get frustrated with trying to get him to hear and having to repeat things over and over. I have chosen a baked potato many times from places for health reasons, but always asked for the butter and toppings on the side. Too many times, particularly in restaurants, the potato would come with what looked like an ice cream scoop of butter dumped in the middle.

Carolyn, nice work on Cardio Supersets. I contacted my granddaughter this morning to see what the times were that she was going to be working at the elementary school on her break. It works out though and she will come over tomorrow evening and stay the night. She is out for break from college and just this week is working at the school she went to. She did aftercare there all through high school. We live close and she was wanting to come here and spend some time. I did not want to have her come and me be gone. I am glad it is working out.

Good evening ladies,

Was really busy with Christmas Stuff this weekend. Lot’s of running around. Was able to do Live Breathless Upper Body on Saturday and Sunday was Live We’re Talking Legs . Felt good to do some Cathe. This morning was a LEKFit Bounce with Upper Intervals. I skipped the lower body interval to rest my legs a bit.

Diane Sue...that is exactly how I do my workouts. While having my coffee I decide what I am in the mood. I just try and alternate upper and lower. Too funny with the Fitbit calories. We have done a baked potato bar at the office at lunch. We have a restaurant close to the office that will cook the potatoes in the brick oven for us and I buy all the fixings. It always goes over well. We have our Yankee Swap tomorrow. I would love to bring in something from my home I do not want! Hope Gertie is back to herself. My son and his GF are saying goodbye to their cat tomorrow. He deleveloped cancer behind his eye and it is time. They are pretty broken up. We all have been thru this. So sad.

Deb...poor Ike. We gave up our land line a few years ago and never looked back. When I am on my cell phone for a length of time I usually use my Air Pods so I do not have to hold the phone. I feel I hear better using these then holding the phone. The new workouts look great. Thinking we now will have them until at least the 2nd week of January. So still a couple weeks off..fingers crossed you will be ready to use them. I love the looks of them and can’t wait.

Valerie...funny your husband is like that with his phone. I love Wendy’s baked potatoes!! Been a while since I have had one. Pretty sure they still sell them. Funny you signed up for the PO email. I love this service.

Carolyn..smart to bake and freeze! I liked Cathe’s original bootcamp when it first came out and did it frequently. Not to long ago I did it and wondered why I liked it so much!

Judy...I like x10. Have you done the complete workout I think it is x77? I have done it a couple of times. One tough workout. I should try it again to see how I do. Thanks for the Slo Mo link. I saved to watch later. I like Amy.

Have a great night all!

Lori, I am sorry they have to say good bye to their cat. It is rough going through that. It is rough losing a pet. Gertie greeted my husband with her squeak throw toy when he came in the door this evening. She tried with me and I just tossed it across the room as I was worried about her tearing down the stairs just yet. I tossed it a bit while sitting on the couch last night because she kept bringing it to me. I think she is fine. I was really losing my mood for workouts this morning and in so much indecision as I went through all of the possibilities for working out this week. Originally I had thought I would do a Combat workout that was shorter and Kelly. I just wasn't feeling it by the time I got in the room and ran into difficulties. Then I really wanted to get in some strength work to start the week. It is easier to throw in a short intense cardio than a short really good weight workout when there are time constraints. That is when circuits come in hands.

Good morning,

Lots of running around yesterday, today will be the same.

Valerie, as of yesterday, the lab results had still not be sent to the vet. I find that very strange, since they had 4-5 days for the culture to develop. I am not pleased. Fingers crossed that they find the strain of bacteria and are able to get the correct antibiotic for it. I hope I never get rid of our land line. Who knows what the future brings when it comes to that stuff. I think there are a couple women from her LIVE classes in the new kickbox workout.

Carolyn, I agree, it looks almost like the new series will be more on the intermediate side than ICE was, actually.

Diane Sue, sorry about your technical issues, when it rains it pours with that stuff. From what I have read, it sounds like grains are not good for dogs with UTI's. Are sweet potatoes considered grains? I love the idea of bringing things that you no longer use or have need for to the party. How are they exchanged? Your description of how you felt today with your workout was basically how I have felt for months now. I know you will be back and at it today!

Lori, so sorry to hear about your son's/GF's cat....:(. That is so hard to do. Funny how we are all different when it comes to doing workouts. When I WAS doing something, I would like to get it planned on Saturday, (or sometime the prior week) to start on Sunday with the next week's list of workouts. Not that I adhered to it that well...LOL.

Hi to Judy,

Take care,

Still problems this morning with the tablet and Map My Fitness so I just used my cell phone again. I will try either repairing it via bluetooth or removing the app and reinstalling and see if that works when I have time. This morning I did Coffey Fit Raw Step 2, 40 minutes, 262 calories, met 5.9, heart rate average 133 max 178, 3,622 steps. I need to run and get ready to go to the ladies brunch.

Deb, pumpkin is not a grain. I use pumpkin quite a lot for Gertie in her treats and in her dog food along with bits of meat. I have been adding some turkey breast that I had frozen. I save broth if I cook something without onion and garlic in it to use. She seems to do so well with what she has, I have been afraid to try anything different. The gift exchange is usually done by putting a number on the gifts and then we draw numbers. The first person starts by picking their gift up. Then it goes that you open it after that and get the choice of stealing someone else gift you might want or taking another one that is not opened. There are generally more rules. I forget all of them. It makes it fun. One time I got a pie plate shaped like a heart with a cover that looked like a strawberry pie. At that time I remember there were buckets of toys and all kinds of interesting things.

I'm not much of a planner for workouts. I give priority to outdoor cardio. that's usually spur-of-the-moment this time of year. like yesterday, was supposed to be rainy, but it was Ok in the morning, so we did our mt bike ride. I've started using the treadmill again. gradual build up in time. I pick whatever sounds good at the moment! works best for me. I never work out early. I need to eat, coffee up, etc first. after that, anything works, including the hour before dinner. I used to watch TV but none of those programs are left, and the reception without cable is pathetic anyway.
I looked at more of the preview clips later. agree... they look intermediate with probably little to no dread factor. I'm fine with that...I've used ICE a lot so another similar series will be good.

Deb, when they do a culture and sensitivity, there might be more than one bacteria involved. each has to be worked up separately, and then each tested for antibiotic sensitivity. I assume they are treating Ike while the process is going on? he might end up on the same antibiotic, but for a longer course. back when I worked in a lab, e coli was as far as we went. with all the different strains of e coli causing problems, it might take longer to isolate which one. .

Lori-I am so sorry about your son's and GF's cat :( It's so hard to say goodbye and especially hard this time of year.

Hi Everyone,

I took a rest day Saturday. Sunday I did one of Jessica Smith's new workouts, Walk On-Get Strong. I did the Stepping Strength workout, which was 45 minutes of compound strength moves with a few cardio blasts in between. I really liked it. There is a 40 minute strength only workout that I will try later this week. Yesterday I did XTrain Ride and today I did Amy Bento's Drop Sets Strength.

Deb-Yes, I think Amy Bento does step workouts primarily. I like her strength workouts but I don't think I will be trying any of her other workouts.

Lori-I haven't done X77 yet. I think that's going to be one of my goals for next year. I bet it is a tough workout. I think the new workouts look great too and I can't wait to get them!

Hi to Valerie, Diane Sue & Carolyn!

Judy

Today I did Hard Strikes for 46 minutes and 319 calories burned. My average heart rate was 128 and maximum heart rate was 151. I love this workout.

Hello to everyone and have a great afternoon.

we had an interesting morning. I got my car serviced and DH and I went to a gun range to practice with our new handgun. neither of us are gun enthusiasts ( far from it) but our vacation house is isolated and there are bears and other wildlife around. extremely unlikely we will ever need a gun, but we decided to have one there in case we need one. we always carry bear spray when hiking and riding there. not paranoid, just prepared and cautious.

Carolyn do you use any gloves with that workout? I tried my weighted gloves once but didn't work. the weights pulls the gloves off in under a minute. just wondering.

Lori, I am so sorry... I hate to hear about people losing their pets. we have not been able to get another kitty. that was so very hard.

so here it is afternoon, and I am still not sure what I will do for a workout. sometimes I stand in front of the stack and grab something. if I put the disk in and don't want to do it, I grab another. totally disorganized.

Valerie, I used boxing gloves with Hard Strikes today. I have the pink gloves like those used in the workout. My hands get sweaty after a while, but they add a nice amount of intensity to the workout.

I have to plan my workouts at the beginning of the week. If I’m doing a rotation, I like to review it to see if I want to substitute something else. I’m one of those people with a strong need for planning, organization, and structure. I have to work on not being too rigid. My husband is totally opposite and prefers to be spontaneous in most things. I think we balance each other in our approaches to life, but it has taken some work :) .
